Went with hubby for anniversary dinner. The food and service was top notch. Everything the purchase is local which was a big selling point for us. Prices were fair for the amount and quality of food. We would definitely go there again!
A very enjoyable evening as always. An interesting menu with nice wines and peaceful atmosphere. Good service and very tasty food not over salted.
$37 lamb chops were tough and poorly trimmed
Told the server we were very disappointed in them
This and the last meal were very disappointing. Won’t go back.
Meeting up with family.
Our server took her time with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Excellent food and the timing of the course was perfect.
The Meridian is a fantastic restaurant that never fails to deliver the finest cuisine in Indianapolis.
Food was as good as usual and that is very good. Perfect place for lunch.
Great night outside on the deck with good friend.
3 met for dinner May 1, 2018, and enjoyed our mealtime on the outdoor patio. Unfortunately the quality of the food matched neither the environment nor expectations. What's happened at Meridian? I began with a cocktail which set a positive tone. Then we shared Nori Asparagus appetizer which, though attractive, lacked any flavor. Bland. My pricey Spring Chicken was good but I would prefer more green peas and less chickpea. Each of us ordered desserts. No raves there. My biscuit with rhubarb and strawberries was dry and generally unattractive. Because I love the atmosphere at Meridian, I may forget this unfortunate experience and try again. If so and if the situation has changed, I will write another review.
Our server Will was outstanding and the main man Joe checked in frequently. Eat here all the time but Tue eve was terrific!
Exceptional throughout, obviously pricey but expected.
Dined here for 10th anniversary. Service was attentive. Realized immediately it was prom season and felt underdressed in biz casual by comparison. Nori-wrapped asparagus appetizer was delectable and smoked corn purée was smooth with just the right balance of bacon. I was mildly disappointed with the prime strip. The strip seasoning was good but ordinary while the asparagus (yes, more) held all the flavor. My wife had the Brussel salad and black bean acara and we agreed the Nori-wrapped asparagus was the highlight for us. Went elsewhere for dessert for unrelated reasons. Would try again.
Service was fantastic. Food was very good. Corn purée and donuts were the best.
I met two business colleagues there and as usual the food was very good. Love the setting. The salmon is some of the best in the city. All of us enjoyed the meal.
A go to choice for a romantic meal for years. Great seasonal menu; prompt, knowledgeable service; and lovely ambiance.
We chose the Meridian, as we have always driven by, and always wanted to eat there. We made a special date night reservation for my birthday, and couldn't have been happier! The food was utterly fantastic, the service was superb, and we truly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Fantastic!!
Excellent friendly service, great wine list and food, nice atmosphere.
The biscuits and gravy as well as the donuts were delicious. The steak and eggs were lackluster.
While the drinks and appetizers have remained above average, over the years we have been dining at Meridian, the quality and flavor of the food overall has consistently declined. Even when we recently raised an issue with a basically inedible entree, there was no attempt to replace or compensate for the problem. We would suggest you spend equivalent money at any of the Cunningham group, or several other excellent Indianapolis restaurants. We will no longer be bringing our clients or friends here.
Great restaurant with excellent food
I love this place and I have been there many times but there was a foul smell by the entrance which I believe came from the old flowers on the counter.
Always good. Love the Corn Soup. Service was perfect and we had a nice window seat. Had the Donuts and Bread Pudding for dessert- yum!😃 Also had a nice Pinot Noir!
We really love The Meridian and I hate that this is the only review I’ve ever written because we had a bad experience on Saturday night. The restaurant was fairly empty but we were rushed by a server who didn’t take the time to explain the menu or specials until asked. He knocked over our champagne bucket and didn’t offer so much as an apology plus simply never asked if we’d like a replacement or even another drink. Finally, he seemed annoyed when we weren’t ordering dessert quickly enough but served our espresso long before our dessert when they were ordered together - all around a poor experience. Finally, while the food is almost always good, the retiring winter menu was a bit pedestrian.
Good service, recommend the corn bisque. Main course (short ribs) was average.
This could have been a good experience, but we could not get past the entire restaurant smelling like a dirty bathroom
My husband and I went here to try a new place. We were less than impressed with the food. We had the alligator for an appetizer. It was cooked well, but the dish had an overall sweetness to it despite the mustard that was described in it. My husband had the burger and his dish was also very sweet. The fries are even finished with salt and sugar. I had the lamb chops, which were cooked well but not very exciting. The sauce on my plate was also sweet. We shared the bread pudding for dessert. It was not even warm. I took one bite and would not have another. My husband liked it, but I thought it was awful. We will not be going back. It was very strange to have so much sweetness throughout the meal. It just overtook everything else.
Loved the food and the location. We would drive past the spot weekly, but we went in for my wife's birthday.
I have been going to Meridian since it opened and this was one of the best meals i have head there. I was with some people from LA who eat out a lot. They go to many of the better places there, so i was a little apprehensive about taking them to any INDY restaurant.
The food was great. The lamb chops were some of the best i have had anywhere, and the salmon, chosen by others, was a big hit.
Service was good. i still wish they would let servers know that the diners already have friends and would like service not friendship.
Dessert was shared and quite good as well.
A really delightful meal.
I have moved from the state, but had a business meeting and immediately chose The Meridian for that meeting!
It was as usual....PERFECT! I was greeted ,welcomed back and we had the best food, the best service in the best restaurant!
Thank you so much!
Great food! Unique options and delicious.
The dining experience this evening was a disappointment. We checked in a few minutes earlier than our reservation time but were told to wait in the bar. We waited until 15 minutes passed our reservation time. I walked over to ask the front desk how much longer before we get our table, front desk staff realized that she forgot about us but offer no explanation nor apology. My husband and I followed her to our table. We noticed there were three other open tables. This really dampened our enthusiasm for the dinner.
As a vegetarian, Meridian never impressed me with their entrée but I go there because my husband enjoy the food and ambience. Tonight, the food was not impressive and dining room was extremely noisy. I have planned to celebrate his upcoming birthday in April at Meridian. After tonight, I see no reason to go back there.
There are many other fine dining restaurants around Indy, like Peterson’s, Fleming, Late Harvest and Ocean Prime offer utmost warm hospitality to ensure us a wonderful dining experience. I will pick one of them for my husband’s birthday.
Great service and outstanding lamb. We will be back.
Lovely dinner for a friends birthday. Wonderful professional service with amazing meal. The chicken was wonderful and we all enjoyed the cheese plate. Carrot cake is among my he beat I’ve ever had. Elegant comfortable and we felt so welcome. Highly recommend
One of the best meals I have had in Indy. Everything was delicious. The lamb was outstanding. The presentations were lovely. Beautiful sevice. Homemade banana ice cream was well, Bananas!
I took my college student for a nice dinner and couldn’t have been more pleased. The room was cozy and comfortable. The lightening was perfect -not too bright but not dark. Everyone from the hostess to the server to the owner made us feel welcome. The food was outstanding. It is pricey but I felt it was a good value based upon its quality and creativity. I will visit again the next time I’m in Indianapolis.
Wonderful service, delicious food, beautifully presented — we will be back often!
We have been to Meridian a handful of times and needless to say this last visit didn't disappoint. We are always excited to eat there as their food is such an adventure to the tongue and mouth. My favs are the Charcuturie Board( I know that's spelled wrong, sorry) the beet salad. fried oysters. We've had the filet, duck, chicken, pork chops....all very good! Desserts, wow as well.
The food was excellent. Menu choices enable my wife to try some new things. She loved the steak tartar. The halibut was perfectly prepared and loved the saffron rice. The servise was timely without being obtrusive. Great birthday dinner.
I went here for Valentine’s Day dinner with my boyfriend. I made our reservation through the Open Table app a month and a half ahead of time. I have a feeling that the restaurant did not have my reservation when I arrived. I had to say my name a couple times and spell it out, and the hostess still looked confused, however, she did find us a table and seat us without saying anything or making a scene, so I appreciated that.
I had never been here and was super excited. The food was very good. Dinner was extremely pricey, though that was to be expected with the special holiday menu. I was a little disappointed in my filet. It was cooked to the perfect temperature, however, it was more chewy than I expected. For the price, I would have expected it to have been better quality meat. Filet should melt in your mouth.
Our service was decent. The server was polite and friendly. I did feel at times like the servers were standing around the edges staring at us, and that was slightly awkward.
The most fantastic part of the whole meal was the atmosphere. It was low lighting and a beautiful old house that the restaurant is in. Wood paneling surrounds the dining room. It was very romantic!
