Maya never disappoints
Excellent food and service. Dined outside with heaters. Very comfortable.
Excellent anniversary dinner. Great location and ambience. Felt very safe and clean despite pandemic reality. Great service. Food was delicious and I’d say best key lime pie I’ve had period.
The food was absolutely delicious! The staff attentive. Having to sit underneath the tent and having an hour and a half to eat did not effect our evening. The staff was efficient and we did not feel rushed.
Everything was delicious and the seating outside was comfortable.
Food was good, we woukd skip the grits next time, very bland. Sadly, our server was bland too we felt as if we were a bother. There was another server who brought out our food & was engaging and welcoming. The food & ambiance overall was quite nice but the waiter caused an otherwise lovely evening to be pedestrian at best.
Always a winner! The food and service is exceptional
Very dissapointed! Our server and most of the servers we came in contact with were incredibly rude. We were treated as if we were bothering them by being there. Our party was very respectful of their thurough mask policies however were explained them many times by multiple people in a very condescending manor. Our server then sat a number of times at a nearby table with a party that was completely mask free and removed her own each time to conversate throughout our entire dinner, as our drinks were ignored. Food was okay but not worth the horrible experience.
Amazing food and service was good. However if having staff wear shirts and face masks that push their political preferences offends you then not the place for you. This has no place in a business atmosphere and businesses should disallow this regardless of affiliation. I likely won’t return if that person is still working there.
Wonderful service. Very friendly staff. The food was very good. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, ribs and salmon. The Candied Ginger Beets were fantastic!
Our food was excellent and the heated patio was quiet. Great compliance with COVID restrictions
They were great about spreading the tables out and enforcing wearing masks arms well as give us a great dining experience
The person who took our order and served was not friendly and appeared to just be going through the motions. One of our orders was unproperly cooked and was sent back. Overall, not what we expected.
We had a great experience and appreciated the attention the staff and patrons paid to the safety precautions. I felt safe, comfortable, and welcome. Excellent food, drinks, and service. Thank you!
Sooooooo delicious!! Drinks and food are amazing!!
Good food and drinks. Server was attentive.
Six of us all ordered different meals and they were all outstanding! I had the pork tenderloin, mac and cheese and broccoli and it was DELICIOUS!!! We ate outside in their covered area and had no issues -- the restaurant cleans tables thoroughly after each guest leaves so felt reassured. I love Maya's -- it is definitely a favorite for me and my family when in Charlottesville.
New male host who was there on Sunday is rather rude and abrupt so unlike the rest of the staff.
Excellent food and service. Our server, Mary was fabulous. Outdoor dining only due to the pandemic. It was a little dark in our outdoor corner but all the precautions taken are appreciated. The food was outstanding. We visited the area for 3 days and ate out everyday and MAYA was definitely the best meal we had. Thanks to our bartender at Oakhurst Inn for the recommendation
Prior experiences at Maya had me craving for more of their great food and good service. Again, they lived up to my expectations. The pimiento cheese fritters were crisp & delicious. The creaminess offset by the spicy chili sauce. Our dishes ranged from gumbo, pork tenderloin and crab cakes. No complaints from any of us. The wine list is short but accessable. COVID dining is under a large tent on the patio. We all felt comfortable and it appeared all staff was following current guidelines.
Food is always great but the service this particular night was not great. Waitress seemed very uninterested in wiring on us.
Everything we ate was delish and Southern. We especially liked the fried cheese balls, the catfish and the peanut pie. And the Negroni's were perfect. Get thee there.
Great job setting up outdoor seating and dining during these times.
The food and service were outstanding. Our server, Mary, was absolutely amazing. She was so engaging and offered great feedback and advice on the very tempting menu. Tables were kept at a nice distance from each other. The food was brought out hot and the drinks were delivered quickly. All in all, a great dining experience.
Food and service were outstanding! We sat on the patio which was very well spaced.
Spot on as usual. Perfect service, excellent cocktails and delicious food.
Food was delicious, as always. Covid precautions were in place — all servers wore masks, no-touch menus, even large fans on the patio in the corners. I went with a friend, and we got a 4-top, so we could sit diagonally from each other, increasing our distance. I didn’t request it, but felt lucky! Well done, Maya!
Always excellent and great provisions for social distancing and safety on their terrace.
I went to Maya's on a weeknight during the pandemic. Tables were spread out, and people were wearing masks when not at the tables. The ambiance was low key and friendly. I went full on southern and ordered the trout with collards and cheddar grits. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. I haven't had such a perfect meal in ages. My husband ordered 4 sides instead of a main course because he couldn't decide which sides to choose since they all sounded so interesting. The cocktails also were exceptional. Margaritas with real lime juice rather than a mix. Good quality spirits. I would definitely return to Maya's and highly recommend it.
Must not miss the pimento fritters or the fried green tomatoes. I’ll be dreaming of them!
We had a good time. Southern-style food was great. Would definitely go back. Actual table service was friendly. Good value for high-end comfort food.
Maya still needs to work out the details of its greeting and traffic patterns during COVID. More signs around the patio would help. It was oddly stressful to figure out how to check in and get to and from the restrooms.
Due to Covid, all seating was outside but it’s covered so inclement weather not an issue and there are about 12-14 tables so adequate space. Ambience so-so since you are facing the street and it’s the main drag in Charlottesville. I don’t know how it would be to sit inside.
We were looking for authentic southern fare and Maya did not disappoint. The pimento cheese fritters were fabulous as were the crab cakes. You get two sides with each entree and we chose the veggies, Brussel sprouts, corn pudding and cheddar biscuit. All were excellent but the sautéed veggies were the real standout.
We would go back.
The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio that is well spaced out to comply with COVID restrictions. We had a enjoyable evening.
A bit overpriced. 123456780012345778901234567890
Honestly this restaurant was very overpriced for the food it offered. I got a 30 dollar steak that honestly should have been priced at 20 dollars. The service was a bit subpar as I felt other tables were attended to more than ours. The Mac and cheese was very good as was the pimento cheese fritters but overall the food was nothing to write home about. I probably would not come here again.
Great food , cocktails, and service.
Very good considering the new world we are living in. They take Covid seriously and have all the protections that are recommended.
Did a great job with social distancing. Good was quite tasty and service very good. Would go again!
Nice dinner spent with colleagues. Appetizers and entrées were excellent and appropriately sized. Service was good; notable in these times of COVID induced stress. Although I only ordered one drink-a Negroni- it was expertly prepared and worthy of mention. The Negroni has been my goto drink for the last 2 decades and I’ve only had a few that were done perfect, one of which was in Milan. Special shout out to the bartender: Thank you- well done!
