Owned and operated by Will & Margie Hennessee, Maximillians offers global cuisine using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The town of Cary does not offer much for plant based diners. Maximilian’s offers a few options on their menu, including a main entree. I really appreciated the number of options available to make a complete vegan meal that was delicious and interesting. We will definitely make this a regular for us.

About 90% sure the "duck" was chicken...food was mediocre and over priced...restaurant was not very clean.

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. Please contact me (Margie Chef/Owner) 919-465-2455 directly, as I am a bit confused after speaking to my staff. Your host left over a 20% tip, the confit duck is 100% duck and our NC Department of Health score is 99.00.

Great locally owned restaurant with wonderful selections for seafood, meat and vegetarian diets. Plant based "meatballs" were fantastic, as were the roasted beet salad, and land/sea combo entree. Diverse wine and liquor selections. Tried a new chardonnay and a new locally made whiskey.
Service is outstanding, by both the wait staff and the owner(s).

Canoe-cut marrow bones were very tasty with crostini, trout was divine, chicken-shrimp-clams on grits was well cooked (a tad highly seasoned for me), grilled ceasar with generous cheese shavings was a solid entree alternative. 70-80s music in background, a little louder than I like (made conversation require more effort). Wendy our waitress was excellent. We enjoyed it very much.

Dinner on a Saturday evening was not cheap but excellent, worth the cost. We had the delicious large salad with field greens, apple, and gorgonzola, delicious black sea bass with creamy risotto and carrots and the also delicious duck confit with pearl couscous. Service by the waitress and manager was very friendly and attentive. Not a big deal but if I could change it I would have softer seat bottoms for the chairs. Probably not an option but also some warmth at table near the windows on a cold night. Overall, it was an excellent experience and we will happily return.

The charctuterie and cheese platter was a good size for four people to share and was very good. The duck confit with risotto was delicious and a good portion size. The service was excellent.

The specialty drinks are fun but the wine by the glass is limited.
The salads are giant (Cesar and Beet were our 2 selections) and they were both great.

We tried two Market Priced dinners. A '9 ounce filet' dinner and a '5 ounce lobster tail over pasta' with shrimp and clams. There were $42 each.

With the salads as large as they were, I expected so much more from the entrees. I doubt the filet was 9 ounces (seemed much smaller) and the lobster tail was really tiny after i finally managed to get it out of the shell. I think there were alot of shrimp to make up for it (guess) and Saffron based sauce was delicious, but again, small for $42 in my opinion. Went home hungry. Took a desert home since they have no espresso machine!

The dining room temperature required my wife to wear a coat over her shoulders. Not sure why it was so cold, but that did not make the atmosphere enjoyable. Staff were great and service was excellent otherwise, but didnt make it warmer.

I'd go back for salads and drinks

The food is all very well conceived and executed, prices are reasonable. Servers were very nice. Atmosphere was nice.
I thought the main entree item was a little small and the risotto was a little generous for the plate. Proportionately, have to say, would've liked slightly larger main item and slightly less (undeniably delicious) risotto on the plate.

Enjoyed our anniversary dinner here on Valentine's day. Food was excellent, our server Jen was fantastic and the other staff was also attentive. The temperature in the room was a little chilly but overall we had a great experience. Definitely recommend and plan on going back.

We always enjoy Maximillian's!
This meal was for Valentine's day.
We ordered a 2014 Napa Syrah that got better and better as it came out of storage and up to room temperature.
Started with the meatballs (3 with shaved cheese and sauce over spinach) which were firm and tasty. The sauce over the meatballs had a nice tang to it.
Entrees were leg of lamb over creamed polenta and roasted carrots and trout over a citrus fennel mix... all delicious. The lamb was falling off the bone in chunks and served in it's own broth. The trout was prepared exactly how it should be: filleted (not a single bone missed) with the skin intact on bottom.
Dessert was coconut cake with vanilla gelato. The cake frosting was borderline too sweet, but it is cake so what should we have expected?
Our server Jason was informative and attentive without being "all up in" our romantic dinner for two. Our food came out timely at each stage of the meal.
We are hoping to come back before the menu cycles to try the Voodoo dish (spicy green curry)!
Each time we've been to Maximilian's we've done a bottle of wine and full meal and each time we tell ourselves "we should come here more often".

We had an outstanding dinner on Valentine's Day. Our waiter was excellent, food was outstanding, and the sound level was very nice, allowing us to talk. Seems like most restaurants today are so noisy you have to yell at each other, but the the noise level here was very pleasant. Biggest disappointment was making a reservation on line showed only 5:30 and 9:00 reservations available for Valentine's Day. We expected it to be very busy, but more than half the tables were empty most of the time, and there were still empty tables when we left at 7:30. We would have preferred to eat at 7:00 and were disappointed to have had to arrive so early. Will call next time. Also, while it was a nice leisurely dinner, getting the check at the end took almost half an hour due to "computer connection problems."

Unassuming place at the end of a quiet strip mall. Free parking. Service was attentive. Menu was varied and every single thing our party of 3 tried was excellent: Butterbean hummus, bacon-stuffed pork, calamari in wonton cup, kale-butternut squash salad. Not a bargain but you get what you pay for. The 70s-80s music was quite loud at one point but they realized and turned it down. We will definitely be back.

Was there for restaurant week again this year but have to say they failed this time food was not on spot, having been several times , I was disappointed, the coconut cake with usually amazing was so dry I could not eat it.. will have to rethink. If I would return

Our server was very friendly and professional. This is a fine example of creative, modern food. Maggie is an excellent chef who uses fresh, local ingredients to craft a wonderful dining experience. Scallops, Ahi Tuna and Trout are all good choices. Take some friends and enjoy this gem in Cary NC. Easy parking available too.

This New Year’s Eve meal was a tribute to mediocrity and a reminder to let the past go. This strip mall restaurant struggles to be more significant than it truly is. The Homage to the Pig entree was more of a disrespectful tribute to an animal that gave its life for no apparent reason. The pork was disrespectfully overcooked and sad. The roasted chicken was not terrible, with the risotto being the best food on the table. The flourless chocolate cake had the taste and consistency of a cardboard box pulled out of the dumpster behind the restaurant. The food was only slightly less disappointing than the service, which was to ignore our party for most of the night.
