We revisited Maximillians after a long hiatus. It was a wonderful experience. We interacted with managment, chef, and wait staff and all were friendly and accomodating.

The food was outstanding. My wife had a wonderful salad with fresh fruit and goat cheese and the Pig Different Ways and was very happy! I had the grilled Ceasar (which was done just right) and the special of the evening. It was soft shell crab, clams and shrimp in a Thai inspired broth. The broth was to die for! I asked to replace the black rice and the chef came through with a phenomenal dish of various beans with bacon and spinach. It was very thoughtfully done and both my wife and I love it. The chef even included a piece of Mahi in my serving which was impeccably fresh and perfectly cooked.

We highly recommend that you give Max's a try!

We have been going to this restaurant for 12 years, Always loved it’s inventive menu with strong flavors. We have not been there for about a year and went this weekend for anniversary. We were disappointed.
The menu has been reduced significantly. It never had a huge menu but always had several daily specials. The menu was smaller than usual, and they only had a couple of daily specials. We felt very limited on her options for main dishes, although the appetizer section was still pretty good.
The wine list was significantly small. There were multiple red wines (about 5) in the $35-$40 range, and then suddenly jumped up into the hundreds of dollars (with about 4-5 in that range). We don’t usually drink really inexpensive wines, but we’re certainly not going to spend $250 on a bottle. So it left us with out an options for a nice mid level wine.
I ordered one of my favorites for an appetizer – the calamari, and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the duck on polenta, and it was quite bland and had no flavor. It had a blueberry sauce on it, and it was so void of flavor that he thought it was possibly a bean sauce. It also arrived luke warm.
Main dishes : husband ordered the Oso Buco special. He described it as being just “OK“, although not very flavorful, and certainly not full flavor like Maximilian‘s usual dishes are.
I ordered a shrimp pasta dish. It was one of the blandest and worst dishes I have ever had at any restaurant. First of all, it had a slight flavor of lemon, and other than that it had no flavor whatsoever. None. It was so void of salt (and I usually don’t like very salty food), that I asked for a saltshaker and had to add and add and add some more. Seemed like the chef had forgotten to put in any salt at all. Other than that the pasta was just swimming in a very soupy broth, again with no flavor.
The cream Brulé for dessert was good.
If this had been our first visit, we would not go back.

Chef is extraordinarily skilled in keeping the entire gamut of acid, sugar, umami and salt in perfect balance. The Voodoo entrees are fantastic, but even "plainer" sounding dishes are given the same wonderful balancing act. This is our favorite place to eat in the immediate Cary vicinity.

This was our second visit to Maximillians within the space of one week and we were treated even more royally! Our Manhattan friend accompanied us and he was thrilled with his shellfish over pasta entry, exclaiming that it was both fresh and flavorful. My wife, who is not fond of anything spicy actually had her chicken entree virtually totally changed from what was on the menu. Chef/owner Margie could not have been more accommodating and Mady, our server, made sure that everything was to her liking.

Both times we have walked out of Maximillians extremely happy with both our meals and the extraordinary level of service. From the owners to the staff, these people are total professionals who also exhibit the warmth and caring as if you are dining with family.

Plus, they laugh at my jokes!

Everything was fantastic! It had been years since I'd visited Maximillian's but by the time we left I was joking about coming back the very next day. Our drinks, service and food were all perfect. We opted to try five different appetizers rather than order entrees and loved every dish. We had leftovers for the next day and I felt that the prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. It won't be long before we visit again!

The food was excellent. The calamari was a great starter, not too much or heavy but so tasty. The voodo dish was super good if you like spice! The Lemon dessert was awesome, just the right amount of sweet and tart. Definitely going to return. This was my first visit.

Fabulous as always! We shared the bone marrow, which was served with the softest, spongiest gyro bread I've ever had. Then we had the salad with goat cheese, apples, nuts and fennel, a taste treat. I had the salmon w/potato pie (a mile tall!), and my date had Homage to the Pig which, with a Flinstone-sized chop, sausage and pork belly, truly did "honor" the meal. We also had the banana pudding-style bread pudding with banana ice cream, a Southern treat taken to another level!

Excellent Food. Nice ambiance. The salmon was excellent and the potato pot pie was succulent. The service was spectacular and the banana bread pudding was amazing. A great dining experience and value. I highly recommend.

Salmon was extremely fresh and well seasoned. For a good spicy dish try the Voodoo special. Located in a non-descript strip mall the experience was none-the-less very good and when I'm in the area I'll return.

Incredible bone marrow app. Had the diver scallops w beet risotto (10 stars) and airline chicken w eggplant and tomato ragout and spaghetti squash (10 stars). Had the Belgian waffle w banana pudding ice cream for dessert (10 stars). Incredible wine and drinks. Great server. Ate at high top in bar and was perfect. Will be back.

Margie excelled as usual with some unbelievable trigger fish! Beautiful presentation and the flavor was out of this world! I've never had a bad meal at Maximillian's and it is a can't miss terrific meal. As always, I'll be stopping by the next time I am in town. Thanks to the staff for doing a great job of making me feel warm and welcome once more! Oh, don't miss the Klinker Brick Farrah Syrah on the wine list, by the glass or bottle. It is a superb full bodied wine, and yes, even great with the trigger fish! The pre dinner Manhattan was done perfectly, Maker's Mark makes a yummy Manhattan.

My husband and I had Valentines reservations at Maximillians. This is our go-to spot for special occasions. We started out with the classic favorite the Grilled Caesar salad along with the appetizer special of the evening, the Tuna Poke. Both were delicious, we especially enjoyed the Tuna Poke which had diced apple & japaleno to season. It was refreshing! I had the Salmon entrée, and my husband opted for the Lobster special of the evening. Dinner was Divine!!
The staff provided great, friendly service.
Our only concern at the end of the meal was why don't we come here more often!!
We are not waiting for a special occasion any longer, and plan to frequent on a regular basis!

The service was phenomenal, not to mention the food. We were escorted to a private dining area upstairs, and enjoyed a nice quiet dinner for Valentine's Day. The staff worked well together and made sure we never wanted for anything. The wait staff was very patient and friendly, and was obviously very familiar with the menu. The food is pricey, but well worth it in taste and that everything comes straight from NC. 10/10, would recommend.

Maximillians is an amazing tucked away gem in Cary. Local owners, with great attention to detail for everything from customer service to their dishes. Their specials and menu changes quite often, and everything i have tried thus far has been nothing short of amazing. They also have a great wine list (including Coravin wines!) and delicious house cocktails. Every time we visit maximillians, we leave fat and happy ;). Thank you for all that you do for your customers- it does not go overlooked!

This is our first visit since the new owners started. It was wonderful, food was excellent, service excellent and it has a warm & eclectic atmosphere. The tuna was outstanding, we were told it is fresh every day and most of the food is routinely prepared fresh, rarely using frozen products. Whatever the method, it is working...It definitely is a “hidden neighborhood gem”. The staff also need a “shout out”, everyone was polite, respectful and accommodating. Our server, Shane, was exceptional. He is a natural working with customers. We had a marvelous evening and thank everyone at Maxmillians for the experience.

We had not been to Maximillians in 10+ years. What took us so long? It was wonderful! From the polenta Gorgonzola appetizer to the spicy Voodoo tuna steaks with mahogany fire noodles to the HUGE piece of luscious coconut cake, everything was delicious and nicely presented. Our server Katelyn (sorry if I'm misspelling this) was excellent with just the right mix of familiarity and professionalism. She made a great wine recommendation and was fun and knowledgeable. Great experience and highly recommended.
