Food was average. Was an early dinner so it wasn't crowded. Considering it wasn't crowded I thought the service could have been better. Restaurant is starting to feel old.
Loved the food and service... Disappointed that nothing was done for our anniversary as directed during the booking.
The service was good. I had a young child with me. Personally, I thought the crepe that I had had too much "stuff" on it. I was disappointed in the chocolate used and the overall taste was just too sugary for the entire crepe. It sounded better than it tasted.
Excellent place close to Academy of Music for brunch. Food was fantastic. Niece had strawberry crapes, sister had fantastic wings and order of cheese waffle fries. I orderd the cheeseburger, which was excellent. Had a communication issue with my meal so it didn't come out till my family was done eating. Manager comped the burger and gave another order of cheese fries for the inconvenience. He made sure to apologize again as I was leaving. The place is extremely busy and serves great food. All servers were extremely pleasant and fully addressed the issue. Definitely come back again!
Seated at an awkwardly positioned table in a high traffic area and my chair kept getting bumped by waitstaff. The food took more than 40 minutes to arrive after we ordered it. I missed the biscuit that used to come with my omelet - I instead found partially stale baguette slices to dip into chocolate, which was challenging at best. This used to be our go-to for Sunday brunch before theater, but we will now search for another option as this place has gone way down hill.
First time there. Loved the omelet and the waffle fries.
The others had the Mozzarella and cheese flatbread and a BLAT sandwich. No complaints - food was excellent as was the service.
The place is great. I was a bit upset we made our reservation about 6 weeks prior and when we got there they tried to sit 5 adults at a tiny table that would have been tight for 4 adults. They told us they had no more room. We ultimately said something and we were moved. Other than that issue food and service was great.
My reservation was for 530. We got there at 5 PM. I checked in and was greeted right away. They told me my table would be ready closer to 530 so we decided to order drinks at the bar. After looking at the drink menu which was described sexually, for example the climax, the happy ending, etc. we were ready to place our drink Order and was told our table was ready. This was my first problem of unorganization. there were kids everywhere, seating was to close, this restaurant would be perfect in King of Prussia PA not the city. The food was overpriced but presentation and taste was great. Two female servers were arguing over tables and using profanity in front of the customers. my server forgot to drink I ordered. I thought to myself welcome to the city. this place had a lot of great reviews but I was sadly disappointed. I will never be back here on a date but I may take my son here for lunch .
Great food and service. Wait staff were not prepared to seat our party, even though we arrived on time for our reservation.
I very much enjoyed my experience. Even though the restaurant was very busy due to the theater crowd, my mom and I had wonderful service. We were seated in a timely manner. Our server, Melanie B., was friendly and she made sure that we received our food with enough time to make it to our 2:00pm show. The food was good, although I liked my strawberry and white chocolate milkshake the best. I will definitely come back again.
Reservation was postponed indefinitely due to "no water." Was given about a half hour heads up before my reservation.
My son’s 18th Birthday
We have eaten here in the past and my kids enjoyed it. This visit was very disappointing. Even though the restaurant was not crowded we were seated in between two different groups so we knocked chairs with the people behind us. We didn't realize the menu was very limited because it was Sunday afternoon. My husband got a burger and it was burnt on the outside and red on the inside. We were really looking forward to a nice lunch and it was less than mediocre. We did enjoy the fries and dessert but I was surprised for the cost how bad it was.
We took our son here for his 15th birthday. The menu was creative, fun and tasted just as great. Our server was awesome and very accommodating, answering any questions that we had. As a vegetarian there were many menu options for me as well. I opted for the barbecue veggie burger, one of the best burgers I've had! We will definitely be going back!
Fun place...my husband and I enjoyed eating here. Desserts are ridiculously delicious. We went light on dinner so we could enjoy dessert. Savory dishes are also enjoyable. Nice place... especially if you love chocolate. We would go again.
We came in just for dessert and it was well worth it, the kids loved it, very tasty - waffles with ice cream in particular, fun sparklers. Great for celebrating their birthdays, and the service was very warm and prompt.
The food although simple was quite tasty-we shared the works chocolate pizza which was a meal in itself.
My husband and I love going here for the food and really enjoy the desserts. We always leave with a chocolate treat from the store.
they stuff you at the table and the lights are so low you can not see
We were sat at a table close to the front and every single person walking in or out was bumping into us. I asked to move but the hostess was rude and unaccommodating. She actually tried to ignore me when I first went up to say something as I'm sure I'm not the first person to complain about this seating arrangement. She then told me that they were fully booked and to basically get over it.
Went there for desert with friends. Had a reservation and still had to wait about 15 minutes. The ambiance was nice, but other than that everything about the place was quite mediocre. The deserts looked much better than they actually tasted. It was an okay experience.
I would call this chocolate overload. If you like chocolate then you will love it here. I have the chocolate crepes and they were delicious. The others in the group had the Lazy Breakfast, they said it was very filling and tasty.
The staff were very nice and welcoming. The tables were very small and could’ve been bigger. The food was pretty good. The white chocolate green tea was really good. Our waiter checked up on us a lot.
Met an old friend for dinner. Started early, nice and quiet for a while. Service was excellent and very flexible in not rushing us, yet readily accessible. Finally two tables of large noisy parties arrived destroying a conversational atmosphere. Food was well-portioned and tasty. I have been here once before, and will go again.
Came here for a birthday brunch. This was our first time. and can't say we will be back. I was very disappointed in the overall atmosphere and service. When thinking of a chocolate bar/restaurant, you immediately picture something warm and inviting and comfortable. The space was cold (literally, the AC was on full blast), decor was dark, outdated. Tables were very close together (we were squeezed into a corner between two tables, a door, and a window). The menus were dirty - sticky, dried chocolate on one, another was dripping wet (obviously just wiped down, but very sticky/slimy and gross). Server was fine - but did not introduce herself, and let us know more than once she was very busy (the place was half empty.. and she may have had one other table), advised they were out of ketchup at one point, and had to check twice with the bar to see if they were stocked for my request for a glass of wine (this was at 12:30 PM) which ultimately cost me $17. The cappuccino was tasty - but my daughter's chocolate milkshake was half-melted by the time it got to us, and served in a dirty, sticky cup. Breakfast (french toast and sausage) was depressing. Sausage was chewy (and tough to cut). French toast looked OK (but only half was eaten). Brenner burger was decent (but came out rare/mid-rare to a mid-well/well done order request). Kid's chicken fingers were the best thing we tried. We skipped dessert - one, our server never checked back in after we had our meals, or offered; two, it just wasn't worth it. For the $100 spent, we could have gone anywhere else in the city for a much better experience. Especially to celebrate a birthday (to which no acknowledgment or special attention was given, although it WAS requested in our reservation). We will not be returning.
Very disappointed with our experience. The worst service we have ever had. Sever took 10 minutes to come and to take our order. Food took 30 minutes. Both dishes came without bagels and potatoes although included per menu. When questioned, our server replied that we already had our bagels (we asked for bread for our son since food was taking so long). She also charged us for those bagels that were supposed to be included in the dish and refused to give us potato (also included per menu).
We left and went to Cheesecake Factory that had amazing food and stellar service.
Never coming to Max Brenner again.
The service was slow and the food not very good. Our pizza appetizer came out first and was the highlight of the meal. The salads were small and average. I ordered the chicken cheese steak and it arrived with no cheese. My friend had a burger medium well and at best it was medium rare. I was told they would totally remake my chicken as it also looked like they had done a poor job attempting to find enough chicken to put in it. All the kitchen did was return the same plate 5 minuets latter with some cheese sauce that looked and tasted like cheese wiz. Our make your own sundaes were pleasing to look at but the ice cream was fair at best and the cones were stale. Not really seeing why one would want to go back. Waitress joked that she hoped the desert made up for my chicken. Nope it didn’t.
It was an excellent experience. I love to go back there every now and then..
Great burgers and I like the build your own ice cream. The waffle fries and good and spicy.
Food was delicious, well prepared and nice presentation. Henry, our server, was attentive with perfect timing for all aspects of our meal. Our only negative issue was with the hostess who was nasty and condescending.
I had come here for my birthday from a friends recommendation raving about their dessert menu.
I had a reservation and was sat at a tiny round table for 3 people(really should be for 2). Our server was great and made as mush space as possible on the table every time she came by. The place was very noisy, we could barely speak to each other. The presentation of our drinks, dinner, and dessert was great, really unique, but space consuming on these small tables. I barely had room for my silverware and napkin on the table. I noticed another server with long blonde hair working without her hair tied back. There are so many options for dessert so it’s great for sharing. Overall, my experience was ok, I would probably recommend this place if it was a larger party so the table could be bigger.
I have enjoyed many visits here but was somewhat disappointed this time. I understand that menus change but some of the great standards are missing. The list of waffle sandwiches are missing the delicious roast beef and cubano selection. Mac and Cheese is now limited to one selection. It appears that things have shifted from possibly a restaurant to a sandwich shop as entree choices are also limited. For first or second timers this is a fun, fresh experience, for returning fans maybe not so much. Maybe lesson learned is have dinner elsewhere with dessert here. Sadly this is not how it used to be. You could count on an all around, all inclusive experience.
Enjoyed their restaurant week menu. Food was good. Especially loved the dessert.
I came here hoping that the food would be as good as the drinks, however, the food was pretty terrible. I ordered Alfredo and I could have (in fact, I HAVE) made better Alfredo than this. I was very disappointed because the noodles were hardly cooked and the sauce was almost as if it came out of the jar. The only time I'll ever be back is to try the dessert menu because it looked pretty good, hopefully it is not as disappointing as the food was.
Went with four of my friends to get the dessert and it was amazing! We got icecream, milkshakes, and fondue and we all loved it. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
The hostess was terrible she lied and had us waiting for half hour. The waiters were awesome. I did reach out to the manager about not seating us for a half hour and then seating others, but all she said was that she would talk to the hostess. No apology so I do not recommend this restaurant nor will I ever go back.
It was very loud, food wasnt that great. Got charged twice 👎🏾
I wish I remembered our waitresses name because she was by far my favorite waitress I’ve had in a long time. She had dark hair and her make up was done really well. We sat in the center and were facing the register the waitstaff uses. (Hopefully that helps get the credit to the waitress) Everything about the experience was amazing and I would definitely go back.
We took my mother-in-law to Max Brenner for her birthday because she LOVES chocolate. We must say that none of us were disappointed! The food, drinks, and service were top notch.
