Love the desserts😍
Disappointed. Nice ambiance and friendly service. Food prep slow. Entrees small portions , lukewarm.
Desserts ok but expensive and I expected more.
Father’s Day lunch
It was a decadent , chocolate lovers dream place.
Dessert after a play. No one in the place. Slow service. Had to send my ice water glass back because it was dirty, then had to send my wine glass back because it was dirty. The ice cream had no flavor. Don’t waste your time and money at this one.
This was a family date night for our small family of three. When we got to the restaurant we were about 10 minutes early for our open table reservation, we were told they would be right with us, however 10 minutes After our scheduled reservation, we still had not been seated. The hostess/reception service was fairly terrible, so when we sat down we weren’t the happiest. However... once our waiter came over, we quickly relaxed and he completely made up for the terrible hostesses. Our meal from start to finish was phenomenal and worth every bit of the hassle at the beginning. Everything from our drinks to our dessert was amazing. Our bill was pretty high, however the smiles on everyone’s faces made it a total non-issue. If you’re going out for a special time, this is an awesome place to go, just be prepared for some hostesses that pretty much have no craps to give about your reservation, they’ll seat you when something is available and in order of arrivals. Overall, we’d go here again in a heartbeat regardless of the initial service experience.
This is a fun place for desert if you like chocolate. Expensive but a great option for a special treat once in a while.
I love Max Brenner. I always spend a fortune because I can't resist getting frozen lemonade (the best), a delicious meal, and of course, dessert. They have the best veggie burger I have EVER eaten in my life. My husband loved boa cheese steak, and our niece loved her "meat heaven" sandwich, which was actually the Havana Waffle Sandwich. It was a great visit, as always, with super friendly staff and a fun atmosphere.
Service was terrible poorly staffed 40 mins to get a drink.Food served with 10 min delays between plates last meal arrived 20 mins after everyone.Beer was served warm .butternut squash salad inedible not cooked like biting into rocksTable not set short silverware
Food was terrible probably due to a very long wait. We wanted dinner/ not dessert. Deseret was awful too no ice cream fudge or sundaes. What there was was over priced and ridiculous- even the kid with us felt ripped off! Very disappointing
Great food and amazing desserts. Service was a little slow but definitely all worth it.
Our waiter was great but the noise level is too loud without shouting to speak to each other.
Horrible experience-long wait for order to be taken and then for the meal to arrive. Two from our party ordered flat bread They were both burned and horrible. Chairs had glitter all over them from previous customer. Noisy, not clean. We will never recommend or be back
Server was not very good and the delivery of food was very slow. Desserts however fabulous.
We had a great time.
We were very pleased with the quality of the entrees as well as the desserts! Our waitress was fabulous and all of the staff was friendly. The only downside was that the tables are very small and couldn't fit the dishes for our party of 3. We'll definitely be back next time we have the kids with us!
Unimpressive all around.
Price is on the high side for the type of food offered. Desert portion is good size with many choices
The food was unique and tasty. They had a limited selection but I really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that their cocktails were overpriced. Also appetizers cost as much as some of the meals. I would definitely go back, maybe just skip the alcohol.
The food was very good and I loved the chocolate choices and drinks. I was very happy we were not rushed in any way. Would definitely recommend to anyone to come enjoy the cuisine.
We took my daughter here for her 9th birthday and were not disappointed. She was so excited with the meal and the waitstaff were very attentive to her. I did not personally have high hopes for the food and as a GF vegetarian, even less so, but I got the quinoa salad and it was delicious, it completely surpassed expectations. My daughter ordered off the adult menu and loved her alfredo pasta. All of our desserts were grand and amazing. My only complaint was that our table was really small and we felt cramped.
I recommend this place for good desserts! Loved the mocha chocolate drink.
My cheeseburger was tasty also!
Always love coming to Max Brenner. The food and drinks are amazing. I do
Believe it may be time to expand the menu. Not too many choices to pick from and it seems like it could use some updating and/or a change. That would be my only complaint.
It was my niece’s 13th Birthday and we had an amazing time!!
It was great food was good, service was good, overall it was a great experience
Booked this restaurant because it was kids friendly and we had a younger picky eater in the group. Menu looked great. The picky eater got pizza, and two burgers/two sandwiches were also ordered. I asked for my burger to be medium and it came out well done like a hockey puck. Also I got the one with Marconi and cheese - was super dry not gooey at ALL. The picky eaters pizza was soggy. Chicken sandwiches were okay. Saving grace was obviously the fondue we ordered. I went here a couple years ago, but honestly after this last trip will never visit again.
Great experience, food was excellent
Phenomenal chocolate martini and very good macaroni and cheese
It was a good time
The food is good, but the service is so terrible that it's not worth it. I made at 6:45 reservation for a party of three. When we got there, we were seated quickly, but at a table that was really better suited for a party of one or two. The table had a candle, salt/pepper canister, and menus on it already, so there was no room for our plates or silverware.
We were not greeted by our server for about 15 minutes. Our server never brought out plates or silverware - we had to ask a food runner to get those items for us. Our drinks came about 5-10 minutes after our appetizer came out.
Our dinners followed quickly after the appetizer, but our server never checked back to see how our food was or if we needed anything else.
We ordered dessert and, again, our server didn't bring us silverware or plates for the fondue. We had to ask a different food runner for this.
Because our table was so small, we ended up putting the candle, salt/pepper, and menus on the floor. I wish we had demanded a larger table, but the restaurant was crowded and we wanted to be seated. I really wouldn't recommend going to Max Brenner's in Philadelphia until the service improves and they are more accommodating to their patrons.
If you're looking for a fun spot to take the family (kids and all) Max Brenner might be for you. It's great if you're into the novelty aspect... but I probably wouldn't recommend otherwise. Food is good, but a tad overpriced for what you get. I ordered the steak and it was overcooked... and the cocoa dusted waffle fries didn't taste like cocoa at all. Service was not great - drinks were accidentally switched, the proper utensils didn't come out with the meals, water was re-filled maybe once, etc. I ended up having to flag someone else down, because our server seemed more preoccupied with the larger table seated next to us.
Hot chocolate was delicious though! But if you're going for the food, Cheesecake Factory across the street is way better IMO.
I loved it !!!!! Our waitress was great and our food was even better !!! The desserts are fun and they have a wide variety!! It may be chocolate themed, but you don’t have to be a complete chocolate lover to still enjoy it !! I would definitely recommend this spot to everyone !!!!
Love the desserts! Lots of different options. The chocolate fondues are especially good.
We had a great time and the kids loved having dessert for dinner! The Italian thick hot chocolate was unbelievable!
It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. Service was less than attentive. I saw my drink sitting on the bar for nearly 10 minutes and I had to wave down our waitress to get it. Two other guests' water glasses, their only drink, was empty for too long. Waitress never came to ask if our food was okay. Forgot my husband's drink and we had to ask for that as well. The menus were sticky and gross and needed a good wipe-down. It was only our second time there, having gone several years ago. I remembered it being better. We will not be returning.
This was my second visit to Max Brenner. The first time was in NYC. We went as a last minute Mother's Day choice for dinner and dessert. (Not my first choice by far for Mother's Day but you don't need to here the story behind the decision.) ANYWAY, the food was the same quality as in NYC and
the service was equally as slow. What truly bothered me was that the bathrooms were filthy! Mother's Day or not or perhaps especially because it was Mother's Day, someone should've been attending to them. Trash on the floor. Dirty everything. The dining area floor also wasn't what I consider to be clean. I know it's not a fine dining establishment but I'm in no rush to return.
Love Max Brenner. This is my 3rd time there. The food is great and the environment is fun! Save room for dessert! It is my go to for celebrating special occasions with my children or a small group of freinds!
I took my mom and dad here for Mother’s Day! It was everything I could ask for. It was a good balance for sweet chocolate and great food. My mom and I ordered hot chocolates and they were delectable! Mom’s Oreo hit chocolate was so rich in flavor and tasted like a warm Oreo! I got the Mexican Hot Chocolate and let me tell you that was spicy. I loved it!! My dad got a chocolate martini which had the right balance between chocolate and alcohol. Plus the strawberry on top was excellent!!
