The upstairs is so much quieter than down- will ask for it next time- a few outstanding dishes, some less inspired, more seafood choices would be nice, as I am a pescatarian, but no real complaints- mushroom toast and heirloom tomato tapas were the fav's-

The meal was excellent as always and our server, Larry, was very attentive and helpful. We were very appreciative that they helped us with the keto diet that we are current doing. One of the items suggested by our server was a farmers cheese with pepper jelly and a baguette. With our diet the baguette is definitely out and they substituted cucumber slices, which worked wonderfully and will be something we ask for in the future even if not dieting. Mateos is the first place ever ate in Durham and it has never disappointed the many times we have been back.

I like coming here after work. The sangria, the ribs, and the pollo frito are usually my faves. This trip we were allowed to be seated early and our food came out promptly. Calamari was undercooked, The ribs were over cooked (2nd time this has happened) and the White wine sangria seemed to be entirely too sweet. Tasted like a different drink all together. Tried a new salad as they’ve recently changed the menu. It was drowning in vinagarette. Hoping it was just an off night. Usually, they always deliver top of the line food and service.

Very fun place to eat! The amount of specials available was almost as large as the normal menu. Everything was well prepared and the options were creative and fun. If you love food this is a must in the RDU area.

My wife and I had a wonderful first experience at Mateo! The food was excellent and we enjoyed trying some of the evening's specials as well as items off the everyday menu. Our favorites were the Ibierco and the albondigas.

Incredible service - we had a baby with us (first dinner out for new parents!) and the wait staff was so incredibly accommodating - switching our table when we asked for one with more space, checking in to see how the baby was doing, offering a quiet space for me to nurse when he got fussy, etc. They really went out of their way and made us feel special. And, of course, the food was amazing! Highly recommend.
