Masters Kitchen and Cocktail is located blocks from the beach in the heart of Oceanside, CA. An industrial space with classic history, Masters was once a well ­remembered drag car shop. The revamped restaurant keeps its authentic character, and offers a warm and inviting dining experience for a lovely escape from the sun and sand. A separate bar with communal seating serves traditional craft cocktails that sip and smell of the 1920s.

Masters has been absolutely great every time we have visited. Love the cheeseboard. Love the fish specials. Homemade chips are awesome!

I always love going to Masters! The food is excellent and the servers are always friendly and very helpful. I brought my mother (who is from Maryland) for an early dinner and she loved it as much as I did! The drinks are great too!!

Great food. Impeccable service. Yummy cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised and excited that this place lived up to the positive reviews we had read about. Highly recommend it and can't wait to go back.

Our server was very attentive. The charcuterie boards prepared for us by Chef Nace were fantastic.

While it's enjoyable to have live music, it was much too loud and we were on the south wall of the dining room, not that close to the musician. It was difficult to have conversations without having to talk loudly.

This was our 5th time here, but it's been almost 2 years since our last visit. It used to be a hip, fun, busy place, with outstanding service & really inventive dishes. Now, it was almost empty at 7:30pm, the service was inept at best and the food was just okay. Our server never even mentioned a drink special, but we noticed it on our way out. We would have definitely tried it. A couple of us had the catch of the day, one in tacos & one in a sandwich. The fish itself was fantastic, the rest of the meal was only so-so. They have lowered their prices, so it's not as expensive as it used to be, but we did notice the charcuterie board was not near as nice as it was on previous occasions. Looks like they are trying to make a more 'family friendly' and less expensive of a restaurant. No more awesome lamb chops, or bone marrow appys. A little sad.

Unfortunately, it has gone downhill a little bit… Increased prices and smaller portions. Ordered the potato chip appetizer and got a tiny bowl of crushed potato chips with two sides of blue cheese dressing for $8. They still have a decent happy hour though.

Great dinner! We had appetizers of truffle fries and cocktails and a wedge salad. Then enjoyed the catch of the day fish tacos and a Masters burger. Food was excellent. Compliments to the chef! We ended with creme brûlée. It was fantastic. Great happy hour menu! Beautiful ambiance, very modern. We were very happy with the service too. Will definitely go back when we’re in the area!

Food extremely disappointing after having a very good experience several times in the past. Have taken friends and in fact a group of us will be there this Thursday evening. Reported to your staff that the fish special was far below your standards and an apology from management was forth coming. However, there was no adjustment to the cost of my meal that I think should have been offered. Hoping this was one time thing.

This is a great place and my first time for Brunch. Met my best friend here to catch up, food and service was excellent. He has the Lobster sandwich with house-made chips that looked great. Must have been, he ate all of it. I went for the traditional eggs and bacon which was prepared perfectly. I tried the Bloody Mary which was very tasty, he had the bottomless Mimosa's.

Kristopher was our server and he was on point. We were deep in conversation most of the meal and his timing checking in us was just right.

This is an excellent restaurant, their handcrafted cocktails are made with daily fresh ingredients. For any meal, this gem in Oceanside is worth it.

Great place! Fantastic oysters. I had the ribs One was very dry. The corn bread was dry and hard too. They used to serve coleslaw which was nice and moist. I missed that !

They limited them rmenu for Mother’s Fay and even e that the Cesar’s salad was drenched the catch of the day undercooked, the tacos uninteresting and very small. . So disappointing.

Pre-theatre, Masters is a great choice for drinks and dinner. Their happy hour includes ten interesting cocktails as well as beer and wine, and the choice of a number of inexpensive entrees. We both chose the Alamo drink, a non-sweet treat perfect to accompany the meal. We had the Ancho Chile barbeque ribs, which were tender and deliciously spicy without being tongue-numbing at all. Jalapeno cornbread accompanied. We also had an order of delicious truffle fries. We we in and out in about an hour, with a caring waiter and half an hour to walk three blocks to the theatre, get a coffee and see the opening scene of the play at the Brooks.
Even at 6 pm, the noise level makes conversdation difficult, but possible. From Thursday through Sunday after seven, live music makes that impossible. So choose carefully when to go.

Let me start out by saying we have been to Master many times.
We had great hope that Masters could bounce back from the recent changes in staff.(including the chef)
Sadly our last visit will likely be our last.
The food was less then mediocre and cold.
Service was jus ok.
Oside has too many quality restaurants to choose from to put up with subpar food.

Loved the ambiance, and my fish sandwich was pretty delish. I didn’t care much for my cocktail and our waiter had no problem taking it away and replenishing it with another.
Would definitely go back.

We have been to Masters three times. It seems like this most recent time the food was different. It wasn’t as good for some reason.
The service was terrible! The hostess seemed very stressed and the server wasn’t very on top of things. Forgot water when ordered. Sent out wrong food. Didn’t check in after a long time after entrees hit the table.

Great restaurant for a special occasion -- wonderful cocktails! Sea bass was excellent, lovely presentation as well. Jazz trio completed the ambiance and it felt very classy, yet casual.

Food started off great, but some of the dishes were bland. Service also started off ok, but then quickly went downhill. After our appetizers, our waitress seemed to disappear, and when was apathetic when we needed help or asked for something.

Wow! First time here and we were all impressed. Recommend going during happy hour for great pricing! All the food was super tasty (tacos!) and fresh. Drinks were delicious!!!

Our newest place for brunch when in Oceanside. The food was amazing, service was great. I highly recommend the chilaquiles but our table was pleased with everything and we all ate different things. We will be back.
