Marti's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Marti reopened after Katrina in the French Quarter in a spot on the top side that is a bit off the beaten track. Because of this, it is having trouble finding its niche. Add to that the construction on the new Rampart streetcar line, and it is a recipe for failure. However, with the new chef and an unbelievable menu, this restaurant must survive. The construction will be done in the next year, and I hope locals will continue to dine here to help the restuarant survive. It is an old piece of New Orleans' history with a beautiful dining room and ambiance that cannot be beat. Add to that a great bar with happy hour specials and the new chef with a local, fresh menu, excellent;y prepared and served food! I would encourage all tourist to check out the Rampart corridor and Marti for a great experience. I highly recommend - and I am a local.
This place was great. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. I had the grilled red snapper which was grilled with one side of the skin on which was extra crispy with the creamy center of the fish. It was wonderful. The only drawback is the location. I would valet park since that part of the city isn't the greatest. We had no trouble, but I would take advantage of the valet parking.
Amazing experience, top to bottom. Came here with a bridal party and had a blast! Excellent service and AMAZING food from start to finish. Stacks up to the other NOLA institutions easily but because they're a new kid on the block, they're hungry for traffic. Won't be a hidden gem for long... Come here soon, come often!
Some attention needs to be paid here. The food was good and the servers/managers are very nice, but some work needs to be done. The room is lovely, but at the prices of the food and the level of decor, table cloths are a must! I don't even think that those tables are meant to be uncovered. Please decide what you want to be. If it's a bistro, you better lower your prices. If you want to be a fine dining establishment (I'm hoping for this) please get your white linen groove on. Also, black napkins for your black wearing clientele is an important touch.
Good luck! We want you to be great, but you are not there, yet....
Memories of our dinner at Marti's will linger for a long time. The service staff was friendly and attentive while maintaining a very high level of professionalism. Each course was elegantly presented and was equally appealing in flavor. Combining local, high quality ingredients in some surprising ways the chef clearly takes pride in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. The slightly noisy environment was not enough to detract from this highly satisfying experience.
We have an apartment a couple of blocks away from Marti's, so we eat there fairly often. The service is always professional, yet warm and friendly. No exception on this evening. I had the Tile fish, which i had never had, and it was excellent! cooked to perfection with some lovely baby vegetables. My husband had a quail dish which was very savory and very good as well. Martin's makes sure that you never feel rushed through your meal which is something that a few restaurants can't really say. We will be back again and we always recommend it to friends.
Marti's is a classic New Orleans restaurant with great food and a historic feel, but an easygoing attitude about the whole thing. The interior is art deco and very cool. Don't miss the copper bar. The food was excellent. My wife said the oysters were some of the best she's ever had. I had the stuffed quail and it was both perfectly cooked and perfectly balanced on flavors and seasonings. We had the orange creme brulee for dessert and it was a great twist on a classic (and, one of our favorite desserts... if creme brulee is on the menu, it's hard for me to choose anything else).
Marti's is one of my most favorite restaurants in NOLA and i always bring out of town guests here. Our friends were in from Laguna Beach, CA and were absolutely wow'ed by this fab place....we live by Gautreau's and are thrilled that Patrick brought Marti's back to life...it's always fabulous!!
I've known about Marti's for a little more than one year and have been waiting to get back to New Orleans to try it. It was well worth the wait. The food and service were exceptional. Jamie, our waiter, took great care of us. Chris, the sommelier, helped lead us to some fantastic wines. I started with a foie gras terrine that was perfect. I also shared the fried green tomatoes and loved them. I finished with a perfect roast quail that had a variety of smoky side dishes. Then I took a much needed long walk.
The restaurant went out of its' way to call to tell us that major road construction has closed off the entrance to their street but told us where to meet the valet so he could take care of our car. We were very appreciative of the 'heads up' and we feel that Marti's went out of their way to offer their service to their customers.
My wife and I went to Nawlins the weekend prior to Mardi Gras weekend. Due to parades, we were able to get into Marti's with little trouble. It was a great experience with the Manager and Sommelier Chris Banks willing to share some Turley off the list for our meal. It went great with the Chef's foie gras Torchon surprisingly. The rest of our meal was equally superb. And a great classic NOLA bar.
Food was very good. Appetizers of Foie Gras and Ravioli were excellent. Main dishe of Duck confit was wonderful, flank steak had a great flavor, fish amandine very good, swordfish side portion (cauliflower) was on the small side. Best dessert was dark chocolate with carmel. The lemon cheesecake was a huge piece but not much lemon flavor.
Our waiter was Peter and he was excellent. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and accommodating. The valet who parked out car was was so friendly and nice.
Our first visit to the reincarnation of Marti's won't be our last. A beautiful setting with a bit of an elegant retro feel. The complimentary valet parking is a nice touch. Service was pretty good. We enjoyed the wine list, which was was matched to the food with a number of interesting choices at reasonable price points. Our appetizer (scallop crudo) was very well executed as were the entrees, a rabbit dish and a duck dish. Portions sizes were adequate, though for the prices, there could be a little more on the plate.
This was our first visit for my birthday. There was no problem getting a drink at the bar and then sitting at our table when we were ready to sit for our 7pm meal. The service was good, not too pushy on anything, and we weren't rushed out for the next seating. We had several appetizers, most notably the shrimp and the roasted oysters ( a must ). I had the duck, and others had the osso bucco, chicken, fish and other items. Everyone was pleased with their meal and nothing was sent back. Overall a very enjoyable experience with a nice wine list and decent prices.
We had a very early dinner reservation at 5pm for NYE and the restaurant was very quiet. We started with a Pimm's Cup and a Bloody Mary. The Pimm's Cup was really good and would definitely recommend it. I like my Bloody Mary very spicy, so once I threw in tabasco and pepper, I was happy.
We had fish and scallops along with an arugula salad. Everything was quite good although the scallops were slightly overcooked. Overall, a good meal and a nice way to start the NYE evening. A nice thing about the restaurant is that you could get things a la carte, which is helpful when you don't eat meat. Many of the prix fixe menus had limited options for vegetarians and pescatarians.
My two best friends and I enjoyed a fun-filled dinner at Marti's recently to celebrate a birthday and the holidays. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and quite comfortable. Our server was very pleasant and helpful, and the food was fabulous. I started with the cauliflower soup, which was wonderful, then had a pasta dish (that was not warm enough). The creative cocktails were very good and the wine list had many options. This is the sort of restaurant where you just have fun because of the general mood of the place, so great for a date night, group dinner, etc. It's definitely a place I'll return to for special occasions.
I heard wonderful things about this restaurant and was really looking forward to going. I had a 6:15 reservation but got there about 10 min late but was still seated immediately which was appreciated. When I booked the reservation I specifically stated I had theatre tickets for an 8:00 performance. We had the blue crab soup. Very bland and about 3 tiny piece of crab. The pomme frites were great but I love any kind of French fries so that is hard to mess up. I ordered the scallops as my entrée and they tasted soapy. Seriously. I couldn't figure out if it was the scallops or there was soap left on my fork, but either way, something was very wrong. I ate one scallop and left the rest. By the way, it took an hour for our entrees to arrive so when they hit the table we also had to request the check. The waiter never checked back to see if everything was ok so I didn't get a chance to tell him I didn't like the scallops. I can get French fries anywhere. I will not recommend this restaurant.
When we arrived we told the server that we were going to the Opera so needed quick service. The appetizer was fine but the ertre never came. After complaining twice it finally arrive undercooked and warm at best. Very disappointing. We will probably give Marti's another chance.
We were looking for a great place with a good reputation. Marti's filled that void - just on the outskirts of the French Quarter so it was close enough to walk but far away from the mayhem.
The staff was very accommodating to our requests and took good care of us.
Our favorite? The house Cabernet was fabulous!
First of all, the restaurant management seems clearly worried about getting customers out the door quickly in case they are attending a "show" that night. We were asked upon entering, and I respond which show. He didn't know. I just said, "Oh, we have a concert later." Somehow this turned into a make-sure-you-rush-them kind of thing. We order four courses--soup/salad, oysters (they were ranked for their seafood), entrees, and dessert. Despite setting the record straight we were still rushed. We ultimately stopped the rush after we ate entrees because it was all coming so fast. Also, our drink orders were repeatedly wrong. Top that off with being told that they charge $5 (over the liquor) for a drink "on the rocks." $5 for ice!
