I'm sad to say that they are shuttering Sunday.
The food was excellent. The service was top notch which made the night out with family and friends that much better. This was the first time there while in town for the race. I will definitely return.
I have done quite a bit of traveling and indulging in local cuisine is certainly a highlight of those experiences for me. Thus, I was rather excited when I heard about the Chef's globally inspired menu that is flexible and changes as it focuses on soul food from different regions of the world.
Overall, the food and cocktails are both tasty and presented well. The service is also good. I am not a fan of the ambiance and would say it is mediocre at best. After my two dining experiences here, I would suggest it is worth trying if interested. However, if I were personally planning a dinner out this would not be at the top of my list. I can rattle off several other dining options that I feel are more worth the price tag.
Our meal here was excellent. We love the rotating menu (May 2017 it was Spain/Mexico). All of the food was delicious, cocktails were tasty, and the service was stellar. Our server really went out of his way to explain and help out with choices.
Wonderful great service
Went here for Mother's Day celebration. Had a great time. The menu was Latin American themed. We tried the radishes, venison, and cactus - all delicious. For dessert, definitely recommend the pay de queso - the candied papaya was a unique touch.
Everything was very good although the big plates were priced too high considering content. The wine pours were a bit stingy. I usually get the whole bottle but only wanted one glass that night and the pour size could have easily produced 8 + glasses from a bottle. One suggestion would be if you have only 5 of a particiular item listed on your menu, make it a special and not list it on the menu.
Food was pricier than the Open Table app would have led me to believe, which I wouldn't have minded had it tasted just a bit better.
I had the quail, my wife had the soft shell crab. Both were well prepared and full of fresh ingredients, but lacked flavor and, especially, spice. I didn't expect bland.
The music was loud enough that we needed to seriously raise our voices to talk.
I will say that the bartenders seemed to be especially skilled and well liked by those at the bar.
Marrow has potential, but they need to whip out some heat. More importantly OpenTable, this restaurant is $$ not $.
Based on January 2017 dinner, we decided return to Marrow was in order. A good choice was outcome. Chewy octopus and tasty venison were excellent entrees. Radishes were vegetable of the day in appetizer, salads and entrees. The creative approach by chefs are primary reason for going to Marrow. PS. The Panna cotta dessert changed from January, but exquisite!
We were there for Cinco De Mayo and it was fabulous! Had a couple Tecates and the menu was special for the day and occasion. Chef John came out to the table and laughed it up with us for a few minutes...which is always a treat! This place has fast become one of our faves in town. We eat there at least once a month sometimes twice. The food is very artisan and sometimes even heady. A lot of good vibes and thoughtfulness put into the cuisine for sure. The room is very nicely decorated and modern. Always some soulful music playing and the smells are amazing as soon as you walk in! Exactly what you would expect on this hip little side of town. Can't wait to get back and sample more of the new menu! I highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone who enjoys a higher level dinning experience. You won't be disappointed. Very fairly priced too and a great value for the overall experience.
