Terrific food and outstanding service in trying times.
Excellent service, great food. Clean, fast and efficient.
Wish the Ferry Building owners wouldn't force this restaurant to leave by price gouging the rent.
It is being painted so ambiance so the outside is not its usual self. The food was ok desert was very good. The wait staff was good.
Great place to eat and talk over lunch. I had the salmon which was fresh and extremely flavorful. The staff was polite, friendly and prompt. I will be returning again for a wonderful meal and experience.
Fun lunch with long time friends from Colorado. Weather was exquisite & although we need rain, our friends were deliriously happy so of course we had to dine al fresco!
The 4 of us enjoyed a plethora of items.
Oysters, seafood stew, the daily prix fixe (caprese salad, lobster soup as starters, swordfish, chicken, gnocchi as entrees & crepe brûlée for dessert). All yummy!
The 1/2 price bottles of wine on this day made the occasion even more festive!!! We stayed a long time & they didn’t rush us—-thank you!
See you soon!!!
Our waiter was the best I’ve ever had!!! He made the evening extra special!!!
This was our first time visiting MarketBar. We were a group of 7 women from out of town visiting the city. We had superb service and the food was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located.
Great location and staff. Food used to be better but has declined relative to other Ferry building spots which is a shame. I’ll still go as the outdoor space is priceless, but only as a back up vs primary option.
We had a very nice lunch, both the specials were good. The bar is great for pre-ferry cocktails on the way home.
My friend and I enjoy MarketBar very much and have eaten there several times. We had the Restaurant Week special-she had a seafood soup and I had the giant pork loin . Everything was very delicious and our regular waiter is so good to us! My friend loves sweets and is always happy with their desserts. It's a true San Francisco-style place to have a long, leisurely lunch because one never feels rushed. Highly recommend!
This is a great, straightforward restaurant for business lunches or if you're meeting people who you aren't sure about their food preferences. Salads, pizzas, pastas, and seafood are all excellent. They had a great deal for restaurant week although we didn't do that menu. I had the Ahi Nicoise, which was well seasoned. My Ahi was not seared as much as I would like and was cut a little thick but otherwise it was great. The cheese plate was nice but needed a bit more cheese for the price. Our server was very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Only complaint was the temporary scaffolding in front of the building so we didn't have any view outside. Not their fault, and it will go away soon! A great location and very nice ambience.
THe market bar is a great location, great food and quiet
Construction on the outside of the building made the restaurant very dark inside. When I eat I like to look outside, and the construction prevented this. Did not know work was going on when I made the reservation. Food, service etc. was great, will go back in the future.
lighting was dim and atmosphere grim, service took a while even though there were very few people in the restaurant, and food was totally unremarkable.
The food was delicious. The Parker rolls were to die for! I had the lobster roll which was also good. I was there for dinner on a weeknight in January and it was not really crowded so it was nice and quiet for a business dinner with my boss.
Food is very good, albeit a little pricey for a sandwich and fries. Bread is extra charge - $3 for two rolls.
Oysters weren't a bad deal at $4 each. Our waiter was very attentive. Martini was excellent. Because of the weather, people who might normally have been seated outside, were at the inside bar being quite noisy. Our table was in a separate dining room, but quite close to the bar. I suspect it would normally have been a little quieter. Enjoyed it and would go back, especially any time we need a dinner location that opens before 5:30.
Yes and no I would recommend Marketbar. If you are looking for a place for good cocktails and apps in a slightly quieter atmosphere with your colleagues, this is a great spot. However, if you are looking to have a tasty elevated dinner with work colleagues, the dinner menu leaves much to be desired.
A friend and I met for an outdoor lunch on a very fine early January day
We had iced tea a specialty that never disappoints
She had salads nicoise and I tried the salmon sandwich
Service deft and professional
We were slow getting to our selections chatting. Our server was patient and never rushed us as we lingered
Check it out
New Year's Eve dinner we could have went somewhere else. Most of the photos of the food online was not available for dinner. They had oysters, fish chips, lobster roll/bisque but no seafood tower or special seafood entrees. We had one chance to spend NYE in SF and I made the wrong choice by picking MarketBar. This is a more casual eatery not a place to have a special dinner for $$$.
Had a wonderful NYE here - they made it very specual
Not busy so they put everyone in one section, including the screaming baby that the parent refused to remove. Food was good but raw onions are not listed as an ingredient in the lobster and crab roll. I spent a good deal of time picking them out.
A bit noisy and we were seated by the Office Door which kept opening and closing. Also the door leading to the outside was left open and it was COLD. No consideration for the patrons sitting on that side of the resturant. All in all the service was excellent, and the food was very good.
We had a lovely lunch at Market Bar today. I had a delicious salmon sandwich, my friend had a really yummy chicken pot pie, and my husband had a Caesar salad with some of their parkerhouse rolls. The rolls were dry but everything else was delicious. No complaints but it would be nice to have a couple more vegetarian options. Service was excellent and we were allowed to linger with no pressure to move along. It was a very enjoyable visit.
Sat outside at MarketBar for lunch on Saturday. Had a reservation and was seated promptly. Service was very good. God was fresh and tasty. Excellent smoked fish platter and incredible French fries. The patio is on The Embarcadero with a view of the bay bridge so the setting is great.
I have ordered fish and chips and they were just average. Previously when I would order fish and chips here they were very good. One of the best, something has changed and test is not there. Quite disappointing.
The chopped salad was beyond mediocre....iceberg lettuce, salami, provolone cheese, disappointing and overpricrd.
Good solid standard. Delicious juicy burger and crispy/fluffy fries!
Efficient service. We ordered a crab & shrimp Louie salad and the chioppino Both were good. The wine list was limited and I had to send one glass back Overall Ozk but there are better options i. The Ferry Building.
Went to Marketbar for daughters birthday and our server was amazing and made the meal a special occasion.
I always enjoy MarketBar. The food is interesting and good. Great ambiance and you can actually have a conversation at normal voice levels. Great location and setting, and friendly service. It used to be great value too, but I think they raised the prices to typical SF high end restaurants.
I’ve been here a few times and only ordered the seafood salad. It’s been consistently delicious.
Everything was great We decided to do small plates: deviled eggs, mussels, deep fried olvies, beef empanadas with a delicious red wine
Meal was great. Service was very accommodating and friendly!
Very convenient location. Lively atmosphere. Big portions
Great service! Great outdoor seating by the ferry building
Es ist eher eine Brasserie.
Das Personal hatte hatte zu wenig zu tun, und hatten auf den Cell Phones rumgespielt. Non go.
Zu grosse Weinkarte.
Der bestellte Rose wurde nicht im Kühlschrank gelagert.
Seafood war sehr gut.
Love Market Bar...met girlfriends and stayed for two hours...nobody rushed us to give up our table...my only issue is that the prices seem to have gone up...as seniors on more or less fixed income...it was definitely over my budget...
We had friends visiting from Australia was hoping to sit outside but was told that they couldn’t accommodate a party of 7 outside. That was disappointing. Service was good, food was so-so. The portions of the food and drinks were on the smaller end (dinner). For example Aperol spritz usually is in a huge wine glass but they served it on a half sized wine glass. For the price of the food and drinks, we expected more.
we sat outside and maybe that helped with the noise level. Service was EXCELLENT
