We had a reservation and the host and hostess seemed completely lost. We waited for over 30 minutes(even though we had a reservation and were only a party of three). We had to check in 3 separate times because they didn't write us down or look us up any of the times. Then, the next day I received an email stating that I didn't show up for my reservation. Not impressed. I've been a hostess and a waitress and it doesn't have to be this unorganized.

We went for Father’s Day Brunch. When we arrived the valet was there to park our car and once inside restaurant we waited for about 5 minutes to be seated. The buffet line moved quickly and wait staff seemed very on target in getting drinks or whatever else you may have needed. Food was good although a little on the cold side. Nice selection however I thought the price was a little steep compared to other buffet brunches in SLO county which were equally nice. Definitely a nice morning brunch, view and would recommend for a fine dining experience.
We went for Father's Day Brunch and everything was delish! From the Prime rib, to the Oysters Rockafeller to the Ahi Tuna Tostadas and the Raviolis were the BEST! You can beat the bottomless Mimosas either!
The band was great and weather was perfect! We will be back!

The bartenders make phenomenal drinks. Over the years, they have always been skilled and professional. Marisol is great for drinks, appetizers, and sunsets. I don’t think I will be having dinner there again. Though the cooks know how to do salmon, the steak came almost room temperature, and the server, though he was professional and attentive, was doing the work two or three should have done. Hence, service was not so good, and there was a lot of waiting.
Steak was very, very tough. Tge clam chowder was uninspired. The rest of the food was excellent. A bit pricy. Good service.
We stayed the first time last June for a mini honeymoon, the stay and the buffet breakfast were wonderful. It was great again, the breakfast buffet, sunday brunch, and the bar were wonderful again. The manager David was also really nice and a pleasure to meet. The area was also beautiful.

We take at least three trips to The Cliffs each year and usually have at least one dinner each night at Marisol. Our recent visit to the restaurant was very poor. We had reservations for 7:00 and we got there at 6:40 pm and decided to enjoy happy hour first. The hostess was not there so we went through the bar and found several tables available, so I cleared off one and asked the waitress for a menu. She was dismissive and unfriendly and told me I had to get a hostess to seat me. I went back twice to look for the the hostess and she finally came to the desk at 6:50 and said “you’re too late for the happy hour”. I said I have been here looking for you and she snapped “well I was on a break!”
I reported this to the manager and she was appropriately very apologetic. We then went for dinner but found the food to be much less quality than in the past. We love this place almost as much as the hotel, but I am not sure if we just hit them on a bad night or if the usual gentleman who had been the manager there for years had kept the culture there up to its former high standards. We will continue to stay at the Cliffs but not sure if we will dine anymore at Marisol. That’s a risk! Will it be it’s great former self or will it be awful like this last time?....
We went for a Sunday brunch. For what it was, it was a little expensive. The food was good, the service was alright, the place was nicely decorated and in a nice site, next to the coast.
We were sat outside. Wasn't what we wanted at first, but it was quite pleasant. Selection of food items for brunch wasn't as great as it has been in the past. Dessert we're barely ok. Server had tables inside (I'm assuming) because she was hardly around. Had to stop other servers for champagne refills. Over all it was nice. Will try again in the future.
The food was okay - not more... The price was definetly way too high and not worth the food they served.
As a starter we had shell soup. This was very good and the only recommandable food there.
Don't eat Filet Mignon!!! It's very bad...
Asked for a nice inside table for our anniversary lunch. Served beverages in plastic cups, asked for glass and they forgot my wife’s water with no refills for my tea or water once reminded. Other patrons were served in glass, guessing we weren’t trusted with glass. Fries were soggy, tasted like they were microwaved from day before. Very disappointed in the service and treatment. Won’t eat here for the rest of our stay or future trips to the Cliffs. Over priced for the poor service and poor quality of our meals.
Charlie was an amazing waiter. He was efficient and professional, and made our special occasion memorable.

Horrible. Despite making a reservation and tables available, we were not seated and asked to wait at the bar. After 20 minutes, we still had no table. The bartender took pity on us and found us a table outside. After another 20 minutes and no waiter, menu, etc... we went back to the maitre’d. He had no idea how to handle the situation and offered that we could continue to wait. We chose to leave and will not return.
We had specifically reserved an outdoor table for lunch since it faces the beach and was the main reason we decided to dine there. When we checked in, however, they informed us there was nothing available outside and suggested a table inside by the bar, a dark, noisy place. Completely unsatisfied and upset. We just left and drove 30 minutes to Cambria to eat at another beach-side restaurant that had available outdoor seating, with NO reservations. We have been to Marisol many times before and always enjoyed it. Looks like we'll be avoiding it now. Too bad. (Stars for food based on earlier experiences, since we did't have any.)
Fantastic dinner experience. The waiter was extremely good, and the food was exceptional. It was creative, and perfectly prepared. We were able to meet the Chef and pass on our experience. (One member of the party is a Certified Executive Chef who was very impressed with the dinner and the chef.)

We were looking for a last minute reservation for dinner on a weekend. All of the top rated restaurants in the SLO/Pismo area were booked up. Marisol, however, was wide open. (In retrospect, that should have been a clue, I guess).
The restaurant itself is lovely. The decor is understated but pleasant. The locale up on the cliffs above the ocean is delightful. And the service was great. Everything was going perfectly.
Then, the food came.
The salads and calamari were just fine. Above par, even.
The entrees were amazingly tasteless! Really, how on earth a chef can make a ribeye steak taste like, well, nothing, is something I haven’t experienced before. And the locally caught bass in the Parmesan crusted was so unbelievably bland, I had to wonder how they managed to suck all the flavor out of their food.
Seriously, there seemed to be no seasoning at all on any of the four entrees on the table. I found myself, for the first time in my eating life, shaking salt onto my fish dinner. Wow.
Maybe the normal chef was off that night. Maybe they need a new chef. I don’t know.
But a restaurant with such great bones and potential as this one should be serving stellar food at every seating.
Nice location with ocean views. Attentive wait staff. Food was sub-par. Appetizers and bread were good, but entrees were not. New York steaks were very thin. Steaks were not cooked to med-rare including the filet, and 4 out of 5 dishes were served lukewarm.
We were sat by a table by a door that they had to open to serve others. We requested to be moved and they accommodated us. My husbands clams had sand in them. He could not finish his meal. Let the staff know but they didn't seem to care.
The food was horrible. The steak was well done and was supposed to be medium rare. I could hardly cut through the sea bass with a sharp knife it was so over done and tough. The Caesar salad was good as was the tuna poke. The entrees were a disaster. The scalloped potatoes were so hard and dry and blackened on top from being burned. I would never go back especially after paying top dollar for horrible food. It was our anniversary and we were sadly disappointed.
Service lagged but as always food was great and those in town visiting with our group was very happy. The view of course is exceptional and staff very nice.
Special time with my twin daughters going off to college.
Food and ocean view exceptional! We always request an outside table on the patio; however, it was cold and windy so we moved inside the restaurant.
We had a fabulous experience, we were seated outside with great views of ocean it was quite, service was fabulous, food equally great, we can’t wait to come back.

Osso Bucco was great. Service was quick and friendly. Good wine list and happy hour until 7:00 pm a plus. Great choice for beach dining.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Marisol and were very pleased with the entire experience. We ordered the specials of the day, Parmesan Crusted Sea Bass and the Roasted Beet Salad. Ever so fresh and yummy! The portions for each were generous so we shared the salad and I took the greater half of my entree home. Let me also mention the tasty, butter melting, crusty bread that arrived to our table straight out of the oven. Our waiter, Eric, was very attentive and helpful. Had we dressed more warmly we would have had best views by sitting outside. Instead, we comfortably sat inside beside the windows and enjoyed the seascape. Before leaving, we already knew we would come again.
