Mariposa at Neiman Marcus - Ala Moana Ratings and Reviews
Food was one of the best among ever I’ve been worldwide. Staff were kind but quite commercial, not warm. One thing I was annoyed was that WHAT meaning ‘my request’ could have when I left here on Open Table. I left memo ‘outside terrace table’ and there was no reply and I accepted it would be possible.
Of course I understand all terrace tables were already booked, BUT it should have been informed by the confirmation email or here on the APP. If I would have known the unavailability earlier, I could have tried another choice for dinner. There should be a function for giving answer for the request.
Special thanks to the waitress and chef for getting us the old Bay seasoned fries. In the past, we were thoroughly disappointed when we came on a "change of season" and the fries weren't available.
If the fries are always internally available, I think you'll see us come more often.
All well except for the following. This was our anniversary. Our daughter apparently called the restaurant and arranged that our dinner would be charged to her credit card. This was a very kind thought. Anyway, they only charged one glass of wine to our daughter’s s card and I paid the rest of the tab. I discovered this when I called her in the morning to thank her for the glass of wine. I had been puzzled the night before, but didn’t like to say anything. She then told me that she had asked to pay the full amount. Pity!!!
I like Mariposa because the atmosphere is friendly, casual to dressy, open air with a view and has comfortable seating with ample parking. The food is consistently good, although the prices are on the high side. But I am happy to pay extra for the convenience , nice ambiance, and for the peace of mind from knowing the meal and experience will be solidly good for young and old alike.
In years past, I’ve enjoyed a vibrant salad Nicoise with mini potatoes, green beans, cherry tomatoes, anchovy, and seared rare ahi. Now, the only thing on the plate was the ahi, greens, and two halved cherry tomatoes. Very disappointed! Granted, it wasn’t advertised as a salad Nicoise but it felt like a side salad and not an entree salad and at a dear price!
My two Oahu sisters and I have been meeting for lunch every 2 - 3 months, ever since our mother died 3 years ago; it's a great time to catch up on news on our children, grandchildren, husbands/boyfriend, and each other. We rotate picking up the tab, and the person paying picks the place to dine. Yesterday was my turn, and I picked Mariposa because it'd been awhile since I last ate there, and I did recall a nice experience with every visit!
Friend and I both had the PF Spring Entree. All dishes were awesome! Hope to order the salad as an entree next time. Liked that pasta sauce was light, too. Friend and I always enjoy the chicken broth and popovers. Yum!
Our server, Justin, was very attentive and efficient. Like that he explains dishes very well.
We had Pre- Fix dinner. It was $70 per person. We were just so disappointed. It was Monday evening. We brought a special friend to this restaurant. The friend said “ a chocolate mint stick was the best”. All course dish was cold and salty. Pork-chop was sliced and dry. Scallops were salty. Main course was small. The waiter said “ The last course desert is a warm pudding” but it was cold. We were very very disappointed.
