COZY ITALIAN RESTAURANT...
YOU FOUND IT!
"Even though it is nestled in a gold coast highrise and sounds high style, Mario's Ristorante exudes more warmth than a convention of Italian grandmas. The friendly staff aims to please, and so do the pastas, salads, and boneless chicken vesuvio…"
The branzino was out of this world.
Mario has a nice balance of visiting tables but not invading.
How can we help in this closure?
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food and Staff are great.
Fabulous food. Terrific restaurant. Highly recommend it.
Great local spot. Service and food were excellent. Highly recommend it!
My son said his pizza tasted like grocery store frozen pizza. I had a cream sauce farfalle pasta and it was very bland. Neither of us ate much of our meal. Our server was friendly but very busy. She did not come back after our meals were served to ask how they were.
Life long Chicagoan here. I’ve walked past Mario’s dozens of times and always wanted to stop in. Well, Saturday night was time. Wish I would have done so sooner. We had a party of 8, sat us down immediately with our reservation. Drinks served immediately with our appetizers. Main course came out piping hot, the service was nothing short of spectacular.
We will definitely be returning to Mario’s Table in the near future.
Food was good and the waiter was outstanding. It was crowded and the waiter was very punctual as I didn’t have to wait long.
You get what you expected when you looked at the menu. Perfectly prepared, great service.
I've been eating there on average of once a week (sometimes more!) since the place opened 25 years ago. Sort of like a second or third home for me!
I had the shells and broccoli and ordered it with the jumbo shrimp, which added $12 to the cost of the entree. I thought for that much extra there would be more than 4 shrimp in the dish so that was slightly disappointing. Also, the dish came off a bit dry. Needed a little stock or something in addition to the olive oil. My daughter's grilled portabella mushroom, however, was completely amazing, as was the service. I would definitely go back but probably order something else.
Warm welcome at door followed by quick seating and great server. I had the bow tie pasta and my son had a special gnocchi. Both were delicious. Would definitely return next time we’re in town.
Great portobello mushroom ravioli in marsala wine sauce.
The food was delicious, wine was plentiful, and it's always great to see Mario at our table!
We had such a fabulous time at Mario’s table! Somehow I hadn’t been before even though I live a block away. Mario himself stopped by to see how everything was. The food was great, fantastic service and our table was ready when we walked in for our reservation. Will definitely become a go to spot for us!
Food was delicious. Mario himself was going around to the tables to check on everyone which I thought was very nice!
Food was delicious and not too expensive. Only improvement would be the noise. It was too noisy for my husband and I to really talk...
Great spot for delicious dinner and friendly staff. If I lived in Chicago, this would be a regular spot for my wife and I.
All great, best margarita pizza EVER, VEAL Marsala was excellent as was the lasagna. Will go back for sure even if just for the burrata plate which was also The Best!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Never disappoints. Food very fresh and healthily prepared. One of my favorites is the veal picatta which I order ofer fresh grilled asparagus rather than pasta. It is soooo yummy as is Sue’s apple pie.
The eggplant parmesan is the BEST! Going to start ordering carry-out too!
A consistently good, friendly neighborhood spot! One of my favorites because it is close and never disappoints me.
Some of the best Italian food in town. The marina sauce is wonderful.
Karen is an excellent server.
Still the best spot for locals in the neighborhood. Food like your mother would prepare —if your mother is a great cook. Service is friendly but professional.
Excellent meal... excellent service!
A hidden gem!
Love the atmosphere. Solid menu. Fun neighborhood joint
Mario's table is the best Italian restaurant in Chicago. The service, hospitality, and food is exceptional. We come back often and the quality never wavers. Love this gem on the Gold Coast of Chicago. Happy New Year Mario's Table. We wish you much success in 2020!
Great little local place
We live across the street from Mario’s and either dine in or pick up take out often.
The food is always great and prices are fair. Most nights Mario is present and working the floor making sure everyone is satisfied. It’s a nice touch and gives this restaurant a very friendly warm feeling.
Surprisingly large menu given the size of this welcoming neighborhood restaurant. (If it were French, it would be a bistro.) There is lotsa pasta. It is available by itself with nice sauces and surrounds. The Bow Tie pasta dish has peas, but mostly it’s served as a significant part of most of Mario’s best dishes.
Expect basic Italian fare, not gussied up fancies.
Wonderful!! A Chicago favorite of ours!
Welcoming staff and atmosphere AND most importantly...FANTASTIC food!!!
Food and service were great. We just moved to the area and while there are a number of “higher profile” names in the area Mario’s is a great local spot. The deserts, tiramisu and apple pie were great. We got ours to go as we were full from dinner. So glad we tried it and we will be back for sure
Been going to Mario’s for years every time we go to downtown Chicago. It never disappoints. Great food with a friendly crowd of neighborhood patrons. Love it!!!!
I recommend Mario's to all my friends. They have such a homey, chill vibe there and the food is the same way. Italian comfort food. One thing I'll say for those looking at calories and great flavor, the pizzas are really good. Super thin crust. I'll definitely be going again.
Year after year one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always wonderful, a solid wine list and the service is top notch.
Nice lite local restaurant. Mario, the owner was super friendly and had recommendations. The chicken parm and pizza were amazing!
Mario’s Table is a casual neighborhood family place with a surprisingly varied and — for its size — large menu. The offerings are pretty basic Italian, but very well prepared and presented. Several dishes my wife and I have ordered are served hot and remain so for some time. And you can vary from the menu; the kitchen seems quite flexible. This is a place that wants to please!
Great neighborhood place. It can get very noisy and difficult for anyone hearing impaired. That being said, it is our go to place. Recommend The soft shells in June, and the Calamari (half and half) and primavera pizza.
We have eaten here many times and the food, wine and service are always great. One of my favorite restaurants.
Mario's is a very comfortable spot with a great ambience and wonderful staff and food. When Mario himself often comes to the table to greet us, we feel he is very interested in us and in his establishment. This interaction makes us feel a part of the place, too. We've ben going there for years, every four to six months or so. Our opinion has never wavered.
This restaurant never disappoints… Perhaps it’s because Mario is always there making sure that everyone enjoys. This is a lovely neighborhood restaurant, where the food is always fabulous, the service is perfect and it’s away from tourists
