COZY ITALIAN RESTAURANT...
YOU FOUND IT!
"Even though it is nestled in a gold coast highrise and sounds high style, Mario's Ristorante exudes more warmth than a convention of Italian grandmas. The friendly staff aims to please, and so do the pastas, salads, and boneless chicken vesuvio…"
Great neighborhood place. Food consistently good! We go there often.
Love this as our neighborhood restaurant and will return time and time again. Thank you, Mario!!!
We went to Mario's to celebrate a special occasion. The food wasn't impressive, the staff was nice enough, and the ambiance was not what we expected. I got the Steak Vesuvio and for the price, the quality of the meat was a little disappointing. The presentation was lacking. My husband tried the swordfish special and also was not a fan, the fish was on the salty side. Mario came by our table twice which was a nice touch. We really wanted to like Mario's, but it just wasn't for us.
A wonderful little neighborhood place! The service was excellent from the moment we were greeted by the host and throughout the entire meal. I had the Italian sausage with peppers, onions and potatoes which was thoroughly enjoyable. I only wish I lived in the city so I could visit more often!
Awesome neighborhood restaurant where it’s just plain cozy and easy and dependable! Can’t beat this neighborhood “GEM”!!!
Look. Lots of fancy Italian places from which to choose ( and we go to many of them) BUT for great Italian like Nonna used to make, a cozy setting, a friendly host who genuinely cares about his customers and the best bartender around(Andrew). You just cannot beat Mario’s. BTW their calimari two-ways( grilled and fried) with a little marinara for dipping on the side is wonderful. Twofer tuesdays on wines gives you a chance to have a nice barolo, super tuscan or pinot at half price.
We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent as was the service. Mario made sure to ask how our experience was and we will definitely be back!
Basic food. Heavy red sauces. Not at all creative. Just local.
The food and service were both good and we would return to this restaurant.
It remains the most popular restaurant with locals in the Gold Coast. Mario is always there, ensuring that everyone is having a good time—and a good meal.
Always a lovely evening. Great food and service in a neighborhood gem.
We love Mario and all the staff!!!
Read the reviews. Decided to go. Regretted the decision. Nothing about this place is special except maybe it's "coziness" (read: small, cramped, noisy). Food was basic "red sauce" Italian with absolutely no finesse--pizza parlor stuff. Server didn't know what she was doing. I expected something really special because it was touted as a great neighborhood restaurant, one of the few left in the city. Not so. There are far better spots in Chicago.
First time at Mario’s and loved it! We had dishes ranging from Veal Saltimbocca to Chicken marsala and Pasta Jumbalaya. Loved it, great portions and plenty to take home. Will definitely go back!
Everything about this was fabulous. Although it is not necessarily a place for families, they were wonderful and catering to our 1 and 2 year old.
It was a friend birthday we had a great dinner and the food was great and service fabulous they gave her a nice dessert with candle for the occasion
A touch of Little Italy in the Gold Coast. Great food and ambience with the best service in town. I have no connection or affiliation with this restaurant. This is just an objective assessment of this excellent restaurant.
A 65th birthday. Karen was our waiter and she was great, so attentive and congenial. Food was very good and the birthday tiramisu was special.
Love this place. They have a small staff who really work hard. Mario comes by and talks to customers. Food is wonderful
Visited Mario's Table after attending a matinee holiday show with my family. Looking for a good, casual Italian restaurant and Mario's did not disappoint. While a little distance from the theater district, I wanted a "non-touristy" restaurant to enjoy with my family. Fantastic food and better service! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing dinner with good food and conversation. Mario checked in our table a couple times and he and (what felt like) the entire staff thanked us for our patronage as we exited the restaurant. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back.
Mario’s Table is one of favorites—great food (including gluten-free options) and super service.
Wonderful, authentic Italian food and wine!
Mario’s table was a great dining experience. Food was outstanding and service was great!
Mario’s is always a good be!
Great neighborhood gathering place. Many regulars. Good food selections both for attending the restaurant and to pick up and take home.
Quick service, good neighborhood to go to place, food good as well.
A great find in neighborhood across from hotel. Very friendly, excellent food and plenty, pleasant atmosphere, and owner visited each table. Great experience for 2 seventy year olds, but filled with multi age, ethnic diners.
The meatballs were the best...and the sauce is Deliscious!!
Food was excellent and our waiter was extraordinary.
Great neighborhood restaurant with friendly staff, conveniently located, great food at fantastic prices.
Great food, staff, location, and ambiance. So, what more can I say?
I’ve been to Mario’s before and have always enjoyed their food. But the service this time was abysmal. We waited 15 minutes for a server to notice us and 20 more minutes after that before we got our first drinks. We had to flag him down to order our food after that and the next time we saw him, he had our check. Will not be going back on any remotely popular night as it seemed like they somehow couldn’t handle the Saturday night buzz.
We went on a busy Saturday night, were seated promptly with our reservation but sat at our table without anyone greeting us or any water for about 10 minutes. Split a Caesar salad which was large and no complaints. I got the lobster ravioli - very small portion for what you pay (3 raviolis), lobster filling was just ok. Wouldn’t order it again. Boyfriend got the chicken Parmesan, good sized portion and the angel hair & marinara sauce was tasty. The chicken was decent but a little dry. Overall this place was pretty so/so for the price and I’ve had better Italian close by in the area. If I went back I’d try the pizza instead, looked pretty good and was very reasonably priced.
Three dinners here and three great experiences. Exceptional food, good wine list and the perfect combination of “casual foodie” atmosphere.
Local resident, go here often. Always great, always consistent and the owner works the room. Went to high school with him. The place has had a longtime winning formula.
Becoming our fav place in the neighborhood. Friendly service, wonderful food, and reasonable prices.
Nice, friendly atmosphere, good food. Good neighborhood spot or for well priced meal in a generally pricey neighborhood.
Mario’s Table is an excellent place to dine!
The food, service and atmosphere are exceptional.
Outstanding and nice dinner. We were a group of 5, promptly seated and served. Everything was very friendly and well intentioned
Friendly, comfortable place with great ambiance. Mario makes you glad you came
