In the kitchen is Mario’s brother Sal, the chef who is out daily in the early morning markets personally selecting the ingredients for the seasonally changing menu and seeking out the most interesting and pristine items.
Placing yourselves in Mario’s hands for the tasting menus proves to be a wise decision. The Marino wine list has been repeatedly an award winner by Wine Spectator.

Always incredible. Great service, ambiance, and food.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Food was amazingly good. Service was good, a little slow but not terrible. Ambience was great besides the wall in the roof.
Consistently one of the best Italian restaurants in LA for years. Ambience, service and great food, it's a welcoming environment, Sal and Mario make you feel like family always. Also, if you are a wine enthusiast, they have a deep wine list and a great appreciation and understanding, they will find the right bottle for you at whatever price point is comfortable. If you are celebrating something, they have the bottle that will make it a memorable evening.
Best Food in LA. Superb service.
Best of pros in food and service. Always a wonderful and special
Superb restaurant with excellent food and superior service
Wonderful service, great seasonal menu...and a first class wine list.
It was a birthday dinner. We all loved our food -- esp the lasagna, the pureed soup, the chocolate flour-less cake and the vegetable appetizer.
The delicacy and depth of flavors were extraordinary! The mushroom salad wowed us. The fresh Caesar salad proved why it is a classic. The flavors of the tender Osso Buco verged on a Umami character. Our guests vowed to return with their family and friends.
Authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. A truly delightful experience. The food is spectacular and the staff and owners treat you like family.
Poor starters; good mains. Terrible service. Parties in the private room get all the service and the kitchen focus. Main dining room left to fend for itself. 30 minutes for the [prep-work-done] hor d'oeuvres. Same thing on previous visit. Will not go back...
the waiter took forever to take our order and there was NO ONE in the place. Then he messed up my order 3 times....overall, not worth it. Only positive was it was quiet. Because no one was in there. You guys need an overhaul if you want to stay in business.
Marino never disappoints. It is a Los Angeles institution!
Marino's Is one of my favorate resteraunts in L.A. The food and service are constantly wonderful.
My husband and I had our dinner there last Saturday. I was very disappointed in the experience. I have not been to this restaurant in some time, so I didn't have a clear memory of the food. My husband ordered chicken parmesan which he really enjoyed, On the other hand, I ordered a veal chop. Not only was it super expensive (more than $70), but the flavor was very lackluster. It came with no sauce, neither was I asked whether I would like a sauce. Needless to say, I was disappointed and will not return.
Great great great!!
Blown away yet again. We had the tuna tartar in avocado, snapper crudo (wow!) , Cauliflower mushroom with pistachio ( yumm), Spaghetti vongole, Lobster fettuccine. Just amazing. Daniel (our server) was superb as always and cornelio (busboy) was great as well. Sal (chef & coowner) is amazing and Mario (downer and host) so hospitable. It's our second home!
Warm greeting, table I requested, excellent service amd delicious food. What more could one ask+
Never a bad meal at Marino. Mario and Sal both make you feel at home, and it's one of the few places with an outstanding vegetarian tasting menu.
Went with a friend who wears heating aids and he could hear without a problem. The wine list is fairly priced and nicely matches the food. The pastas are delicious and well portioned, and did I say with all tables and booths full, we could easily each other talk. This place is a find!!!
Everything was perfect. Probably the best NYE dinner I've enjoyed in years. The menu for the night was excellent. The service was the BEST as usual. I could not have been more pleased with the night.
Marino Ristorante turned out to be a real little gem. Everyone was so friendly and made me feel like I was part of the family and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it .
The Pizza Nero with fresh table grated Black Truffles was incredibly sublime. Watching the slices of truffles melt into the hot cheese is a true foodie experience.
There are too many reservations and it creates chaos. Martin was amazing but it is ridiculous to have one waiter serve that many courses and wine pairings to that many tables.
Once again Sal created a menu that was creative and delicious for Christmas Eve. Mario managed a large and demanding clientele with aplomb and warmth. The Waiters were all polite, efficient and totally accommodating.
Amazing Christmas menu with excellent wine pairing
Authentic Italian atmosphere and food. Server was cordial and attentive.
One of my favorite eateries! Mario was very helpful in guiding me through the menu! The wait staff were very attentive!
Always a great experience! Feel like one of the family, and the food is delicious.
Amazing restaurant. Every dish perfect. Highly recommend.
This restaurant is nice but the experience was a bit uneven. We arrived at 7. The waiter described a very interesting appetizer but a few minutes later we were told that it wasn't available any longer....this early in the evening? We had some trouble attracting attention for service. We had to order twice to get after dinner coffee. I think the waiter was a trainee, maybe that accounted for the lack of attention. The food was good and the ambiance was pleasant.
This is my favorite Italian. Family run at a very high level. The food is the very best.
Excellent food, service and ambience. I will return over and over again.
Best service and food! Love this place!
Excellent service and food -special. Needs a bit of a decor update but all else is wonderful!
This was a great experience. We dined early (5:30) on a Tuesday prior to the Pantages show. We were the first seating of the evening. A very warm welcome and early attentiveness. We both enjoyed a Cesar Salad, which was fresh and simple. One Lobster Fettuccine and one Pappardelle with Bolegnese . Outstanding! Freshly prepared pasta. The lobster was fresh and delicious and served in a tomato sauce (more bisque). Incredible flavor. Sampled the pappardelle with bolegnese and lost my mind. So rich and so hearty. True comfort. We finished of with the signature Ricotta Cheesecake. This was a great experience experience that welcomes a second seating.
You won’t find the Cauliflower Mushroom Anywhere else, if they happen to have it on menu .
Hollywood’s hidden classic upscale treasure.
What an outstanding dinner!! From start to finish, every aspect of our evening was incredible. Service was totally attentive—from the moment we were seated to the server to the busser—just seamless. Chef Sal Marino sent out an “amuse bouche” of tuna tartare with caviar and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. Caesar salad was the best; caprese was so tasty—the fresh mozzarella and those tomatoes were the best we’ve had; and then the stuffed zucchini blossoms were out of this world! For our entrees—mouth-watering lasagna “with seven layers of homemade sheets of spinach pasta,” a beautiful filet of branzino fish, and everyone’s favorite, gnocchi with truffles! Oh. My. Goodness!!! To end the evening, house-made desserts: Italian cheesecake, tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake—what I would say is a trifecta of perfection! Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant for a nice dinner or a special occasion. Call Mario Marino and he will take such good care if you!
Always excellent! Food is amazing, service is attentive and warm.
We have enjoyed meals at Marino's for many years, coming back for an elegant Italian meal in lovely surroundings. This past dinner was a disappointment because the restaurant was full and so noisy we could hardy have a conversation. My dinner companions and I left with ringing ears and a headache. I will not be coming back unless I am assured a booth away from the middle of the room.
