In the kitchen is Mario’s brother Sal, the chef who is out daily in the early morning markets personally selecting the ingredients for the seasonally changing menu and seeking out the most interesting and pristine items.
Placing yourselves in Mario’s hands for the tasting menus proves to be a wise decision. The Marino wine list has been repeatedly an award winner by Wine Spectator.

it was great
Best outdoor dining experience, they have fixed up the parking lot into a very nice space. Great food and service as always.
Great food and very friendly people. We are definitely going back.
Food and service consistently excellent
Marino has always been our go-to for both everyday dining and special occasions but especially during the pandemic. The service is impeccable and they have been open as much as possible given the lock down orders. The “patio” is charming and spacious. Very fresh, seasonal Italian specials and old stand-bys. Mario is a gracious host and Chef Sal’s food is better than ever.
The new outdoor setup under the string lit olive tree is relaxing and romantic. This family owned restaurant is a favorite of mine. Great for date night or a casual get together with good friends.
FANTASTIC!!! Mario and Chef Marino just do it right.
Fabulous, particularly in these Covid times. Great protocols, even better chow.
It was great to see them so busy and the service and the food was excellent !! Can’t wait until the idiot Newsome gets recalled so all these excellent restaurants like Marino can open fully and do what they know how to do best ... Beautiful food and wonderful service !!
Better than ever. Mario, Sal and the whole team have stepped up their game during the pandemic. We have a lot of choices in the neighborhood for wonderful Italian food and this is our favorite. The specials are farm to table seasonally selected, and the old stand-byes still great. The “patio” (parking lot) dining is spacious and pretty.
Help support this local gem. Food is truly Italian and wonderful.
First time here and I can’t believe it. What a gem and they did such a good job making the back lot comfortable and cute. Nice ambiance with light, heat lamps, sunshades and dinner music. Will be going back soon.
The food was amazing so that’s reason enough to go back
Amazing food and best service. 10/10 would recommend!
The food and wine are very good. They've done a nice job of converting their back parking lot into an outside dining area.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Will be back.
The best dining experience available presently anywhere in the city. Large outdoor dining space with socially distanced tables, exceptional food and service. Tonight we had the caprese salad, cassonetti with white truffles, and chicken parmigiana. All was outstanding.
Best italan meal in Los Angeles and one of my five best anywhere outside of Italy.Sal and Mario are world class operators of a top flight restaurant that is a real gem and one not to be missed.
The outdoor patio was lovely. The waiters were nice. The menu was good. Our appetizers were quite tasty - a unique Mushroom Salad, and order of Brussels Sprouts. Our main issue was with the main courses. The Veal Funghi sauce was delicious and the vegetables were good -- however, the veal was very tough and not tender at all. Worse, was the Fettuccine with Scallops and Shrimp. The scallops, shrimp and sauce were fine, but the fettuccine was totally under-cooked and hard! It wasn't just al dente, it was actually too hard to chew. I would've have sent it back, but my boyfriend was embarrassed and didn't want to make a fuss. I was shocked though, that a fine Italian restaurant would serve pasta that was not cooked enough to eat! It was hard. The other problem was that the wait to get the food was very long. After the bread was delivered, we waited a really long time to get our food. I wish my ratings could have been higher - it's a nice restaurant, but we were disappointed with the long wait and mostly by the too tough veal and too hard fettuccine. We ended up taking them home in doggie bags, figuring we could re-cook the pasta. We never ate the veal. Sadly, I wish it could have been better, as it is a lovely restaurant with a nice outdoor environment.
Classy contemporary Italian - not a "red sauce" joint as Yelp suggests
The food was fantastic! Highly recommend the stuffed squash blossoms.
No one knows Italian seafood like Chef Sal! The menu always includes the best seasonal ingredients, executed beautifully and with great service. Thoughtfully curated, reasonably priced wine list as well. The outdoor dining space they have set up due to COVID is quiet, graced by a 100-year-old olive tree, and nicer than most.
The service was very good. They take your temperature before seating you.
The ambiance was very nice with tables spaced far apart. They needed to provide more outdoor heaters so all the patrons stay warm while dining at night. The music stopped after a while and came back on, but otherwise was nice. The food was excellent, but didn’t come out hot. Maybe because it was chilly outside and it cooling off on the way to table. I would go back for the chicken Parmesan and split it. It was enough for two people and excellent!
The Marino’s did an amazing job adjusting to dining alfresco. Well lit, great ambiance, and the food is always a hit
Impeccable service, food and hygiene in these trying times. A+
Surprisingly romantic outdoor set-up with outstanding food.
This was the best dinner experience I’ve had in LA since moving here. The food was top quality and the service was exceptional. Mario and Sal both went above and beyond to make sure we had a great date night dinner.
I truly believe that the cuisine and passion at Marino is unmatched in Los Angeles. If you go let Sal cook for you and you will have a truly memorable evening. Thank you Sal & Mario
We felt totally safe in the outside dining area they have set up. Tables are 6 ft. apart, and the whole space is large and comfortable. All the wait staff and support staff wore masks and some also wore shields.
They have faux grass that the tables are on with white tablecloths, and twinkle lights strung above and in the large oak tree than hangs over. This was the nicest dining experience we have had since COVID began.
The food was fantastic. Everything, from the Caesar salad to the Vongole was delicious.
Mario and Sal have done an amazing job coping with our current situation. I highly commend them for creating such a safe and beautiful space outside. We will definitely be going back!
An outstanding amazing meal. The owners came out and made sure we were very well taken care of. One of the best dinning experiences of my life.
The food was good. We loved dining outside but I think to really block the cars from Melrose and to give your guest a better experience you need to have some jazz playing out back. It was dead silent which made it sad. Also there were no blue cheese olives for the martinis which are a hot commodity for your martinis. We live nearby and will be back. Hopefully next time you will have some music playing.
This was our first time eating out since covid started. Marino's has done an awesome job of transforming their parking lot into a safe yet stylish dining area. The tables are all spaced far apart and temperatures were checked before we were seated. We felt very safe there. And as always, service and food were amazing! We love this restaurant!
Best Italian food in LA!!! Mario and Sal are top notch!!! Always great food, great wine and dinning experience.
Wonderful food and service and, in this time of Covid, we much appreciated the lovely patio dining that Sal and his team have created behind the restaurant. Everything was perfect, and very respectful of distance, etc. Will definitely go back again very soon.
They have done a great job of converting the parking lot into a very nice ambiance. The food was excellent as was the service.
Always wonderful. Even with the constants of a pandemic it was a wonderful dining experience!
Marino has been a dining sensation since it opened and it still has it - delicious food, excellent service, a lovely "temporary" al fresco dining room and, of course, one of the friendliest and welcoming restaurant owner's, Mario. Dining at Marino is always an unforgettable and relaxing dining experience as you feel like you are the only ones in the room and yet there is all this wonderful energy from the other diners and staff.
Their back patio is lovely under a spreading olive tree laced with small lamps. Careful spacing. All wait staff with masks.
The food here is spectacular. I wish the portions were bigger just because they are SO good. They moved the restaurant to the back parking lot and put up fake grass and tea lights. It was very nice and quiet but the intimacy and ambiance of the original restaurant did not carry over at all. It was a little disappointing . The vibe was more casual and didn’t feel very upscale . service was amazing as always. And expensive as always. I look forward to coming back here when the restaurant resumes business indoors .
