We had dinner prior to a show at the Rady Shell. The food was good, decent price and great service. Nice view of the bay and the pool area. A nice casual spot if staying at the Marquis or around the Marina.

I would not go back, mainly, because of poor service. LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. 1.We waited 9 minutes for someone to show up after we got seated. 2.The server took our order without a real interest, energy, or motivation to serve us. 3.Multiple times we were forced to scout the server to ask for something, opposed to him been alert of us and the few tables he was handling. 4.In 3 occasions, I asked the server to take dirty/empty plates out of the way, opposed to him been proactive taking care of this things. LACK OF REFINEMENT Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is a great hotel, filled with elegance, large and tall rooms, exquisite art displays, beautiful furniture, and grand facilities. Considering that the greatest resource of any business is its people, I am surprised by the huge disparity of the things I listed above and the hotel’s personnel, at least in the restaurant. With all respect, the hostess was 250-300 lbs. sweaty and greasy with a jacket 2-3 sizes smaller. The waitress wore t-shirt and jeans, way underdressed. Again, the disparity between the hotel elegance and sophistication with the workers persona and attire does not have a good impact on the business.

Breakfast buffet only. Lunch has a great selection of menu choices and very generous portions. Sandwiches can easily be shared, such as the turkey club. Tasty homemade chips. We ate here twice during our stay and brought our niece and her husband with us. We were all very satisfied with our meals and we excellent service both times. Leftovers were taken home both times--so again, think about sharing :)

The server was excellent, and he had a great personality. The food was excellent and we got a lot for our money, however, I noticed that there was some meat (sausage) in my food. The sword fish was really good, but I don’t eat any meat other than some fish occasionally. The server didn’t know that I didn’t eat meat, and once I found out he accommodated me with mashed potatoes. I pushed the rest of the meat to the side of my plate.

Food was great - there was a mixup whether our meal was charged to the room or not, turned out the front desk made an error at registration and didn't connect my Amex card to my account. Most importantly our table was sticky when we were seated and our server (Chris) had a snarky attitude when we asked to have it cleaned before we dined. This was early in the evening before the dinner rush,

Had a reservation for 2 on a Friday at 6:45. Were seated right away by our host Shaddy. The food was great as were the drinks although the drinks were a little pricy. Shaddy was top notch. On the way out there was a guitarist playing that is incredible. Great experience overall.

The menu has a variety of options. Our party was there for dinner. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup for a starter and it was tasty ! The beet salad was refreshing and unique. The other meals were the fried chicken. It was a large portion. The chicken was moist and crispy and a spicy kick that was fabulous!

Surprisingly good! The menu is limited and sticks to old standbys, but there are some hidden gems, and wow were blown away by the quality, freshness, and small touches that really made seemingly ordinary items quite special. For example, chips and onion dip, but both made in-house and far more tasty than you'd have a right to expect. Also well presented. Excellent drink menu with classics you don't usually see at a hotel bar/restaurant (e.g., Sazerac and Boulevardier). My partner said the prime rib was the best he'd ever had--flavorful but also a great cut of meat, with beautiful accompaniments. The fish that night was perfectly cooked and served with a vegetable hash that didn't overpower it. The fried chicken was off-the-bone and crunchy mix of white and dark. The desserts too were excellent and innovative. We had the chocolate mousse creme brûlée (yup, just like it sounds: brûléed mousse) and cheesecake served as lemon and strawberry paletas (popsicles). So fun. I don't think there was bourbon on the menu (the Whistlepig was rye), and no cognacs, which I found oddly missing on an otherwise extensive whiskey collection. However, there was a Macallen 25.

The Marina Kitchen was great for breakfast buffet. Nice selection. We had the made to order omelets which were delicious! Nice seating, not too noisy. We had dinner there also. The BEST hamburger I've ever had! It came with onion rings and fries. Service was great too. Nice view of pool area. I will definitely go back here to eat next time in San Diego.

Food good. Had a brendt beef ribeye with marrow. Excellent. Everyone else liked their food. Drink good. Service good. Got dessert to go so we could watch fireworks in the room. Ordered crème brûlée., chocolate brownie with ice cream and a Myers’s shake. Brownie was ok, shake great, I love crème brûlée have it all the time never in my life have I had chocolate crème brûlée. Horrible. And the bad thing is we were not told it was chocolate. So we didn’t realize until we got to our room. Something like that you need to tell the people it’s not the normal crème brûlée.

Our waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was good and we did not have to wait long for anything. We requested a window table, which was lovely. We were originally taken to a very dark table and asked to be moved (we had a reservation). Thank you.

I was expecting a dining room setting so I was surprised it was open dining attached to Mariana bar. Bar was very loud & busy. The beet salad was fantastic, served with golden beets and grapefruit. The prime rib was nice could have been cooked a little more.
