Maria's Cantina Ratings and Reviews
The food is good, but not fantastic. The salsa is a bit to sweet for my taste, could have used a little kick. The guac. was really good and the bar drinks are great. I would probably recommend drinks and apps. more than drinks and dinner. It's a nice little spot, very cute inside. The waitress on this day wasn't very attentive, even though the restaurant was not full, but I'm sure this is hit or miss and she still got a $20 tip from us, cause we are nice. The one thing that really stood out as, for lack of a better word, cheesy was that they charged us 50cents for two wedges of lime for our taco plate, not very classy given our bill was $100 for lunch. Management....throw in the limes!
I hate to write the great review this restaurant deserves because I don’t want them to become overly crowded. I've been here 3 times, and each time had a very nice meal. My favorite so far was the chicken tacos - very tasty. The chips and salsa are unusually good, and the margaritas delicious. The food always seems to be made with fresh, high quality ingredients, and the chef achieves fine Mexican results. Some of the dishes are more Californian with some Mexican influence – like the steelhead salmon I had the last time I was there, flavored with cilantro. The atmosphere is enjoyably casual, and the wait-staff is competent and attentive.
This visit to Maria's Cantina was good overall, although the pork carnitas weren't quite up to the standard of our last visit In April. The Margaritas also lacked flavor. But the chips, salsa, and guacamole were terrific. The chips were thin, crisp, and warm, and the salsa was some of the best we've ever had.
We went here to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful experience. We ordered the salmon tacos and was pleasantly surprised by how great they were. The chips and salsa were never ending and the service was awesome. I also had the Pomegranate Margarita and before we knew it 2 hours had gone by. I will definitely be back!!!
This was our second visit here. Brought some friends who agree that Maria's is fun, friendly, a great value, and among the best mexican fare around. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and our bill was surprisingly small for such complete meals. The margaritas are also delicious.
We usually go to Maria's to celebrate birthdays. The service was outstanding. We were greeted warmly, and the waitstaff was very attentive. The food was excellent. We were disappointed in the original guacamole. It was too bland. The horchata drinks were also a disappointment. They tasted watered down. The entrees were all very good, and everyone agreed that we will keep the tradition to celebrant birthdays at Maria's.
The three of us sat on the side patio. We ordered the $10.00 marguerita on our server Sam's advice, and it was excellent. All of us had a salad for lunch and both the salmon and the chicken were generous and delicious. We will definitely take the drive to this restaurant again in the future.
We booked a dinner reservation based on Best of Yolo County ratings. We were not disappointed. The entrées were flavorful and the presentation of the food was inviting. I ordered chicken fajitas and my husband ordered the carnitas burrito. While we were waiting for our meals, we enjoyed the salsa and tortilla chips. The salsa was delicious--and the chips were light and crisp. The server was very attentive. We will definitely dine here again.
Great in all regards. Our favorite restaurant in Woodland. Very consistent in food and service. A cut above ordinary Mexican restaurants with very well conceived menu items. An added plus for us is that we can take our large dog with us to eat on the patio.
We sat at the bar waiting for our table. The bar is really nice. Our table was ready shortly after since the restaurant was not full on a Sat night at 7pm. We ordered chicken fajitas and carnitas. The carnitas had a lot more food on the plate than the chicken fajita's. There was not a lot of chicken on my plate. Too much rice for me. We also ordered the spicy guacamole as an appetizer. It had good flavor but was no hot and it was impossible to eat with the paper thin chips.
Overall, the food was good.
We have eaten here several times. The food is fine - it doesn't knock your socks off, but's tasty and very consistent. Chips are nice and light and they are generous with refills. Most dishes could use a bit more 'kick'. Portions are generous. Drinks are fine - pomegranate margarita is yummy. Service is friendly and polite. In short, Maria's is a nice spot for a meal out, especially if you want more than the typical tacqueria fare that most Woodland restaurants offer. Inside can get loud when they have a full house. Lunch is probably quieter but we haven't had lunch there yet.
Food was good, aunt complained about margarita not being so good, salads were great. A special added Mom's lunch or dessert special would have been fun or a free dessert or a single paper flower, serenade, piece of chocolate? A card made by Maria's saying "Happy Mom's Day" from Maria's Cantina, with a 10% off food coupon on the next visit. (Father's Day following month.)
This was just another day at another restaurant as far as I was concerned and not a real Mother's Day celebration.
