We celebrated Father’s Day and had a wonderful experience. Delicious brunch with great drink options!
We had a wonderful time! Such a unique place to dine and we really enjoyed the Gallery and gift shop! For a leisurely meal it is a must!
The service, start to finish was amazing, as was the food. We went on what turned out to be national lobster day (go figure) and we had some of the most amazing lobster dishes I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back when we’re in town again.
Great service, however the servers didn’t know much about the new food in the menu and had basic knowledge about wines. Overall the food was outstanding, very fresh ingredients, and had a very creative menu. The small plates a pretty big for being small. Great experience and would definitely recommend to others.
Food was fabulous. In-season ingredients. We shared a morel appetizer which was creative and different. Shared two small plates - pork belly was to die for. I am not always into pork belly because of the layer of fat, but this was so tender and hardly any fat on it. The garlic sauce that went with it was delicious and you need the bread to mop it up! Then we had the dumplings which were wonderful also. The French Chardonnay was perfect and I went home and found it in our grocery store. The staff was attentive and everyone seemed to love their jobs. We went on a week night and so was probably quieter. Be sure to go to their roof-top bar to see the sunset.
Smoke and fire alarms went off and were ear-shattering. It was understandable that it could happen but it went on for close to 15 minutes. The staff was laughing and no accommodation was made for it.
Lovely restaurant with a good vibe, love that it's in the hotel lobby what a great use of space. The food was well prepared and seasoned.
We had a very positive experience. The food was excellent with different flavors and flavor combinations. The asparagus was great with shredded egg and parmesan. The duck was outstanding - the polenta not s flavorful. The service was great and the location historic. A great example of Richmond's restaurant scene.
It was a celebration of my daughter’s 28th birthday. We all had a wonderful time.
Amazing place. Food was unreal. The service was attentive and overall just outstanding! And the place is gorgeous. We will be back. Soon.
This past weekend, a small group celebrated our friend's birthday with dinner and drinks at Maple and Pine. Although it was a busy night due to First Friday activities, we were able to make a reservation easily, and were given top notch service from the moment we walked in. The host pleasantly greeted us and showed us to our table which was spacious and comfortable. One of the most notable details of our dining experience was the attentiveness of the wait staff -multiple team members came by our table to greet us and fill water glasses throughout the meal. Our server, Polina was knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. She made delicious dinner recommendations, paced our courses perfectly, and recognized the birthday occasion tastefully. After our meal, we stayed for drinks at the busy downstairs bar. We appreciated that Chris was patient and thorough in his suggestions and crafted perfect cocktails for each of us. Thank you to the team at Maple and Pine for making our experience special.
I may be getting older but these kids that wait on you aren’t taught the basics. Use to be when I asked for a Crown and water, the waiter or the bar tender knew what I was asking. Today you get twenty questions. On the rocks?, A splash of water? Water on the side? No, I would like a Crown and water. You know, like a bourbon and ginger.... They still don’t get it, so any variation comes back, usually a Crown on the rocks comes back and I have to pour water from my table glass of water in my drink to get what I want. This phenomenon of lack of understanding of a very basic drink has only begun to happen the past several years. It is caused by a lack of training I guess but does effect my dining decisions.
Second, the eclectic mix of food, “bone marrow custard” is a bit too much. I had lamb with a variety of herbs. The mix of sauce, herbs and lamb was not bad, but you had to know that you better mix it all in a single tasting to fully enjoy then blend of tastes. Problem is there weren’t enough herbs on the plate to do this.
An attempt to fine culinary art that came up short. Will not go back. I don’t mind paying the price, but I do expect the caliber of the food, the understanding of mixology and the dining experience to match the price.
We did the chef’s tasting menu and it is by far of the the best values I’ve ever seen. They were kind enough to swap out a course due to my fiancé’s shellfish allergy and the food was just spectacular. Drinks were creative yet approachable and service was stellar, from getting our table leveled immediately to having the kitchen staff sign a menu copy for our wall of fame. Top notch, Garrick was an excellent server and if we ever find ourselves in Richmond again, will certainly be back!
Maple and Pine started strong but finished so-so. My husband and I were excited to come here on our weekend getaway to Richmond after reading more than one positive article about the place but we left a bit disappointed. The appetizers we got from the "for the table" and "small plates" sections of the menu were delicious and inventive - can't say enough good things about the chicken-fried morels and the chilled pea soup. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by our entrees - they weren't bad but both had overlooked proteins and didn't measure up after the wonderful starters we'd had. The ambience and service were great so our plan is to definitely go back but stick to the first half of the menu - a night out on all the delicious small plates on the menu would be a night well spent.
Everything was delicious! All four of us ate everything! I would definitely go back.
We thought the food was delicious !!!! Only downside was feeling like we were in the hotel lobby.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Highly recommend, especially the mushroom fondue and the duck!
We went here for Mother's Day brunch. It was a set menu rather than their usual menu. We found the food to be lackluster in taste, size, and presentation. The service was incredibly slow. For the price, there are so many other great restaurants to go to. The one plus about this location is the beautiful setting. There was a mimosa bar on the rooftop that we were excited about (and figured would be packed but there was no one up there!), but it was 85 degrees outside and with no shade or umbrellas whatsoever on the rooftop, it was impossible to stay up there for more than 5 minutes without burning. Meh.
Celebrated Mother's Day with my mom! The food was excellent. I loved the décor. After lunch we went up to the mimosa bar on the roof top. Beautiful panoramic view of the city! We enjoyed the gift shop and art gallery as well. It was a great choice and will definitely do it again!
The food tasted great, but most certainly the cost of the food was a tad overpriced. Of course I knew that this was an upscale restaurant going into the place, but the hit still hurts.
Food was left off plates. Food not prepared well. Burnt bread, cold eggs.
The food was very good and creative. Each entrée is crafted in such a way that the food on the plate compliments all the ingredients. Downside is that it was very loud making in difficult to hear conversations at the table.
Service was a bit slow and ice cream on dessert was completely melted by the time it got to meo
The service and the food was incredible. The ambience is very chic yet comfortable and the food not only is delicious but the presentation is really artfully done. Highly recommend Maple & Pine.
I had heard many rave reviews about Maple and Pine so I was excited to visit the other evening with a friend. We arrived an hour before our dinner reservation to enjoy a glass of wine at the rooftop bar. The weather was fabulous which made our experience at the rooftop bar extra nice. The view is spectacular. Our meals were fabulous. Following dinner, we went back up to the rooftop bar to view the skyline at night - beautiful. Maple and Pine did not disappoint. Great place to take out-of-town guests.
Great service and excellent quality
We went at Saturday around noon, weren't aware it was brunch not lunch. That would have been fine, but the menu was very limited - if you don't like eggs and didn't want a salad as your main course, not a lot to choose from. Highly recommend they broaden the menu to have a couple of more lunch-like main courses. The food was pretty good overall and outside of having a limited menu, we were very satisfied with that, along with the ambience. However, the service was probably the worst I have had at any decent restaurant in a very long time. It was extremely slow, and the wait staff was inattentive on top of that. When we walked in and went up to the front desk the couple people there were preoccupied and looking at their cell phones, finally pointed us in the right direction after a few minutes. Our waitress was slow to come over, slow to take orders, and just plain inattentive - she seemed like she really didn't care about whether we had a good time and enjoyed our meal or not. When asked whether it was possible to order something off the lunch menu she forgot to check, not once but twice, and didn't apologize. She forgot a coffee order, forgot about getting us bread after we asked, and never asked for dessert. She also never apologized for how incredibly slow the food was to come (which was hard to explain as the restaurant wasn't crowded).
Maple & Pine offered a welcomed meal after a productive business meeting. The service was fantastic. The burger tasted fresh. The fries could have been better. Other than that, I would highly recommend stopping by.
Absolutely wonderful, great ambiance and service impeccable. Will clearly make a return reservation.
Nice brunch choices for reasonable prices. A bit loud for conversations for those with slightly compromised hearing. Could have more proactive staff, just slightly though. Needed to ask for coffee refills and desert menu. Great people watching spot.
Beautifully plated and creative dishes, attentive service in a modern and chic setting. One of Richmond’s gems!
Incredible food and service!! Cool restaurant!
A little loud with all the people at the bar.
Great food and good atmosphere
Greatfood and beautiful ambience, european portions
Hadn't been there before. Food was good, would go again. Temperature in restaurant was chilly.
The food was delicious, and the wine list was exceptional.
Very well curated menu. Beautiful presentation. Fresh flavors.
The food was very flavorful, but the portions were small, especially considering the price. Our waitress was sweet, but there were long periods of time where we didn’t see any wait staff. Also, the hostess was rude. She just stared at us when we walked in, never smiled or greeted us, and seemed annoyed that we were there. Even though the food was decent, we will not be returning.
