About
So sad that they closed was always a great night and experience whenever we came here.. Again too bad that they closed. We'll miss eating here when we are in Portsmouth was our favorite.. Deb and Bill Schmidt Wmsburg
Going to miss this place was always one of our favorites when in the area.. Wines were always good, and the food never missed a beat, and our servers were always friendly and attentive. Deb and Bill Wmsburg
Restaurant is closed!! Had a confirmed reservation for 7 people on July 7th to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant, we found it closed. Mannino’s looks like it is not going to reopen. Very disappointing that they were still accepting reservations. Needless to say, we were left scrambling to find an alternative restaurant on a Saturday night with a large party.
This restaurant is closed We booked for our wedding anniversary dinner, had no car and ended up at another local food place where the food was not good.
Hate to see this place closing. Sincerely hope they find another location in Olde Town real quick!
one of our favorites for years. we travel almost an hour to get there - well worth it. great staff, wonderful food and LOTS of it.
Seafood and pasta prepared with expertise, how can you go wrong? Plus the best she crab soup ever!
Great little place! The food was exceptional as well as the staff. Very cool place to meet with friends. Large groups would be advised to make reservations as we did. They were very accommodating.
Very satisfied
We made a reservation for 6 for Mother's Day. The selection ranged from brunch type meals to Italian. The service, food, and atmosphere were great, would highly recommend.
I loved the enviornment, it was quaint and very comforting. It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night which was nice. The food was great.
Some of the best Italian food in all of Tidewater at a reasonable price
Good wine selection and they will even customize the menu for you
A winner in every way!
Nice Italian restaurant on High Street in Portsmouth. VA. I love eggplant and enjoyed their parmesan. Quick meal that came with side salad. Nice outdoor seating too! Some of the other dishes that passed me look very good including the calamari! Very good service. I'd come back again!
Great Italian selections and execution. The crab bisque is to die for...truly the best. Their gravy (red sauce) is rich and portions are large enough for leftovers.
One of our favorites for years. Great food and excellent, friendly service. We travel almost an hour, each way - past a lot of Italian restaurants - to get here. Wish you'd open one in Poquoson!!!!!
Our waitress Andrea was terrific! Great food and night out!
Very nice and affordable
Unexpectedly very good. Food was great and atmosphere even though it's just okay, was just fine for us. All of us were very satisfied with our meals service was a little amateurish but who cares too small little place with a little bit of atmosphere and Ambiance. You will enjoy the food for sure
My chicken parm was drowned in tomato sauce and way, way, too much cheese. I would have liked a little more fried chicken showing and less tomato sauce/cheese. The chicken ended up having a very soggy breading. However, the spaghetti was ok. My husband said his meal (the pollo con peperoni) was ok, but not outstanding and it didn't have enough chicken. My friend said her pollo con peperoni was ok also but wouldn't order the onion soup again since it was difficult to separate the cheese from the soup since there was so much cheese. Her husband was satisfied with his meal, the saltimboca and both my husband and her husband were satisfied with the crab soup. Three of us ordered desert to go and thus far, no complaints there. The 4 of us go out to eat once or twice each week, unfortunately, Mannino's may not be on our list of repeats.
When with another couple to have dinner before s movie. The She Crab soup is to die for.
Wrapping up a workshop with other participants. This was the perfect place for the casual celebration. Food and service were great. First time for several people. All said they would eat here again.
This was the perfect place to get amazing Italian food the night before our deployed. We had a very friendly server and the food was excellent. The bruchetta was fabulous!
Outstanding food and service. The fried calimari was perfect! The chicken Marsala was outstanding. The tiramisu dessert was a perfect finish! Large portions!
Food is great, portions enormous. Presentation is haphazard - owing I think to the size of each plate. A phenomenal value - think about sharing!
Great little spot - nice atmosphere on a great street on Portsmouth
Mannino's was open for Easter Brunch and it was outstanding!! The crab & spinach omelette was absolutely delicious. My friend had the chicken fried chicken and with wide eyes told me it was melt in your mouth good. Wish they were open for brunch more often than Easter & Mother's Day - maybe once a month? Love this place and the she-crab soup is the best in the world.
This is a quaint restaurant with very nice ambiance. The food is very good, especially the crab soup. Excellent service and good menu.
Manino's has become one of our favorite restaurants. e are never disappointed with the food, service or dining experience.
Great food, great service. First time at this Mannino's, but think we prefer it to the other two locations. We will be back!
All of our food was excellent! Can’t wait to go back.
The service was bad. Had to ask the waitress over 4x's for condiments. The crab soup was okay. The fried oysters were good. The chicken alfredo made my boyfriend sick. Atmosphere was weird, the chef kept comimg out to observe the crowd in the restaurant, that was creepy. They also put wine in a 9oz glass but only pour 6oz. Overall I wouldn't return to this location. Maybe will try another location.
Exemplary service and fantastic food. The shrimp and crab 'tini won us over for presentation and was delicious in the truffled butter sauce but the crab bisque was absolutely divine. Enjoyed all out food and drinks. Only complaint was the cold draft everytime someone entered or exited.
Awesome food...Awesome service...
My alcoholic beverage had DEAD seltzer.
Many restaurants have this problem. Maybe they should go back to bottles rather than fountain.
Overall the experience was good after finally getting seated. Although, we had a reservation, our wait time was approximately 35-40 minutes. I blame it on Valentine's day and also the
manager was constantly inquiring about our table, so I appreciate her effort to get us seated.
The crab soup is superb, tons of crab meat. I compare it with another popular restaurant in Norfolk, that had the best crab soup before I tried Mannino's. I recommend eliminating the zucchini vegetable side(it takes away from an otherwise great meal). I had the fried oyster dinner, the oysters were perfect. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive.
Made a date to take your significant other or a friend, you will enjoy it.
My 1st time and it was grand. I stay right up the street & never stopped in. So glad I finally did. It was amazing! I can't make this up.
Valentine’s Day
My wife and I went to Mannino's for Valentines Day and we loved it. The food and atmosphere was excellent. We are looking forward to dining there on a regular date night.
We ate here on Valentine's day and the food was very good except the portion size did not match the price charged. Soon after we were seated at a very narrow table we were joined by two other couples on either side of us making our dining experience very cramped and noisy. Our server took our order and seemed somewhat disappointed that we did not order any appetizers prior to our dishes coming to the table. She seemed to insist that we could split a salad which I deemed a bit pushy and after declining that offer, she left. The food arrived quickly after the order was taken. If you are looking for a place to have a nice quiet dinner I would not recommend this location however if you desire great Italian dishes and do not mind paying fine dining prices this is an ideal establishment.
Made reservations about two weeks ago on Open Table and requested a booth. Upon arrival I was informed that we were assigned a table for two. I explained to the hostess that I had requested a booth. She asked if I had made my reservation on the telephone. I explained that I had made it online through Open Table. She said that they did not always read the special requests on the online reservations. Although the food was good, the table was small. The glob of crud in the bottom of the wine carafe was the last straw. I will not be returning.
Authentic Italian food, excellent. Place is small but with a real Italian feel.
