John M Mannino is an Honors Graduate of Culinary Institute of America. He was the Executive Chef of Bodega & 4 5 6 Fish prior to opening Mannino's. John M also won the Inaugural 2012 Taste of Hamptonroads Iron Chef competition.

    The restaurant is too dark for my personal taste. The food is good but not what I expected for the price point. The waiter had to be reminded to bring items to the table such as ground pepper for the meal. Will I return, yes, but I would not go out of my way to return. Furnishing need to be upgraded. The tables and seats need attention.

    One thing that was weird, they had no individual salads, only large salads that could be shared. We did share one because $11 was to high for one person but we were givin no salad plates so we used the little bread plates and the salad was all over the place! Server kept flying past our table but rarely checked with us until we had to flag him down at another table for more salad dressing and bread. Desserts were very limited and not great (tiramisu w no taste and a tiny ball of gelato)

    We’ve been meaning to try this place for quite awhile. Really recommend getting reservations and not just dropping by. Great food and excellent service. Quiet, with pleasant ambiance made for a great experience. We will definitely be returning.

    We had not been to Mannino’s for quite some time. They have not missed a beat!! The Salmon and Goat Cheese Risotto was fantastic!! Great flavor, served hot, fantastic service as always!!! Oh, and the She Crab Soup is still my number ONE in Virginia Beach.

    Consistently good food! We usually eat at the Oceanfront location about once a month but the Kempsville location was just as good. Hands down best crab soup we’ve ever tried with tons of crab. The crab-tini is amazing and worth the price. The Tortelloni Mannino’s entree is my favorite entree. It’s cheese tortellini with prosciuttos , caramelized onions, mushrooms and peas in a white sauce. Just fantastic! My husband loves the lasagna.Thank you Cole for good service!

    This is a neighborhood restaurant. We were there for my birthday & underwhelmed. The crabtini and the she crab soup is very, very good. Everyones food was mediocre at best. They charged $2 a person to plate a birthday cake, if you brought your own. They told us ahead of time. I’ve NEVER ever heard of this practice in any restaurants in South Hampton Roads. There was a huge mixup on the bills. There were 5 total bills. It took 30 minutes to get it straight, they kept bringing out the wrong receipts. I think they were trying to do their best. If you want an upscale restaurant for a special occasion, this is not the place to go.

    The Gorgonzola salad was crisp and fresh and large enough to be shared by two. The Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and Sweet Italian Sausage and the Lasagna were delicious and large portions, so we took half home. The tiramisu was perfect. The waiter was attentive and had a great personality! A lovely place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary! We will be back!

    Great food and service! We haven’t been to Mannino’s since before the pandemic, so this was a nice treat. The food is still wonderful, especially the crab soup! Special thanks to our server, Genevieve…she did a wonderful job in a very busy dining room!

    Food was outstanfing all thr way around from salad, apps and main meal. Only downside was the decor which is outdated, tables and seating have seen better days. Would definitely revisit every time im in the VB area

    When ordering appetizers and drinks and soup or salad and the entree, I expect that the person delivering my meal know that food should be presented in course order. Our drink, appetizer, soup and salad were ALL delivered to our dining table at the same time; we've never had this happen before. Newly hired employees need to be instructed about dinner courses when waiting on customers so that all or most of the meal doesn't arrive at the same time. Mannino's has changed its policy of ordering now, asking customers to place their entire order up front; I can understand this change, but I can't understand having all of the food not arrive in separate courses to the patrons. Please change this policy. Thanks you.

    As usual the food was great. The poor waitress did a good job but there was some snafu in the kitchen and the delay for the food after the appetizer was longer than I have ever seen it. But the wine and food and company were great even if the food delivery was really slow.

    The food here is consistently satisfying. They don’t have on and off days… They are always ON point! Our server was attentive, and we like getting there between 5:00 and 6:30 to get half price off of happy hour wines. Pomodoro sauce and Alfredo sauce always made from scratch. This is great Italian food.

    Another delicious dinner @Manninos. Diane, our server was wonderful, as always. I had the halibut special and husband the spaghetti and meatballs; both great. Looking forward to the next time!

    Overall, the dining experience was pretty good. This was the third time we had eaten here. Our last dining experience was better only because the tiramisu was excellent and we were disappointed this time. The tiramisu was very dry and the recipe seemed different. We were told it was the same recipe, so maybe someone new made it? We expected the desert to be the highlight of our anniversary dinner, but it was a bust for both of us.
