One of my best meals in recent memory. Portions are large enough that two of us shared two appetizers and one entree -- all perfectly paced by our server Nick and Chef Josh. Fried oysters are not on the menu, but ask anyway. They're served with a small mixed greens salad and blue cheese dressing. Second starter was the mussels. Outstanding! The shared entree was sea bass with corn risotto. We didn't need it -- but we ordered creme brulee with freshly made beignets dusted with powdered sugar. Dinner was accompanied by a reasonably priced petite syrah ($44). Total check for two was approximately $125.
The Restaurant was very nice! Had a few starters Because I wasn’t that hungry for a full course. But definitely on my list to do again
Food was very good, but served warm. Could have been hotter. wine list was ok, but not extensive. Good value.
The staff was extremely friendly and on top of their service. The seabass was the best I (& my husband) have ever eaten!! Can’t wait to go back again soon!!
Lobster was burnt and tasted that way. Waiter offered water but never anything else.
We went there on Valentine's day and had the Valentine's day special
We both ordered the same thing , and asked for median cooked steaks
My wifes steak was ok , mine was very well done ( no red or pink what so ever) they wreaked a good cut of meat
When we pointed this out to the server , i got a rude " do you want me to do something about it ? " i said no thanks ,
1. didn't want to wait another 20 minutes , because wife would wait and doesn't like cold food
2. Didn't want this to wreak our eveing more than it did
3. this was so sad because my wife had looked forward to dinner here for weeks !!!
Instead of spending $200.00 on dinner here we should have gone to steak and shake , or blind tiger
We will be back to Harrahs again but doubt i will ever try this place again
The food was excellent and the wait staff was exceptional. We went there to celebrate my birthday. They made sure I had an unforgettable experience. We will most definitely return!
The food was mediocre at best. Scallops were chewy. The steak was very fatty and had a smoky flavor that did not seem natural. Lots of Salt was used. The wines were way over priced.
Every time we stay at Harrah's in Biloxi, we have dinner at the Magnolia House. Usually the food & service is superb....not so this time. After sharing two different crab appetizers, my husband and I ordered 2 Medium filets....one with baked potato and one with the bacon potato hash. When the entrees arrived, my husband's steak was perfectly done, while mine was well-done and the potato hash was also much overdone. The potato cubes were very hard and almost inedible. After my steak was returned and a new one prepared (it took several minutes) I only ate two bites and didn't touch the potato hash. Because my husband had finished and I was definitely out of the mood, my meal went almost untouched. The service was good and I have no complaints there. I suppose it was just an "off night" and we'll definitely give it another try in the future. It just is a little upsetting to spend $43 for a filet that I didn't eat, because it wasn't properly cooked and definitely not up to the Magnolia House standards. Sorry, this time wasn't the exceptional meal we had on previous visits.
Once again the main meal was great but sides poor. View and seating get nearly a zero. Needs better seating and some attempt at a view.
Main course was excellent. Side dishes and salads were over seasoned and just poor.
My husband and I both ordered fish for our entrees - both were absolutely perfectly prepared and very delicious! Our companion ordered a steak with sauteed mushrooms and a baked potato and thoroughly enjoyed everything. As a casino-property restaurant, it did not disappoint. There were 2 tables close by however with 1 couple at each. Towards the end of the meal, they began to interact for some reason and it became VERY loud and disturbing. Not the fault of the restaurant - just a comment that it can happen.
This was my second time at magnolia house. The food , service , and atmosphere was excellent. I would recommend It to my friends
Best lamb chops ever! We were seated in high traffic...would have preferred less. Was disappointed that the restaurant was in Harrahs...unexpected. Excellent food outweighs some of the negative sounding review.
Awesome just awesome. Will drive the couple hours it takes to enjoy this place
We enjoyed our meal immensely! We had a couple of cocktails before dinner and another at the Magnolia House so we are a little fuzzy on the details but believe it was a great meal. The service was very polished and cordial. We both had the sea bass and it must have been really good as there was nothing left on our plates.
Food was okay, service not so good. Ordered a cup of hot tea, waited 20 minutes ordered again. Finally arrived with no cream, sugar, honey etc just a cup of hot water and a tea bag for $3.50.
Service bad. Steak cold and potato not cooked. Bad bad experience
We had the aged ribeye with lobster mashed potatoes and the steak was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. My husband and shared two appetizers and actually shared the stesk. Had a nice bottle of wine. We were so full we could not even think about desert. We actually loved the steak so much we had it twice during the week we were there!!
LJ was our waiter and was great, despite also having to deal with a couple of drunk morons at a nearby table. I had the sea bass & risotto (they were out of the snapper, but this was an incredible dish) and my wife had the lamb chops. Everything was cooked perfectly. The crab & brie soup was great, too.
Service was very good,,,,, appitezer crab, very good,,,, I ordered the 2 pork chop bone in,, the sweet potato puree very good,,,,,, But the chops were very tough,,, took hacksaw to cut..... and a lot of chewing..... was not impressed ....... Sorry...
We looked forward to dinner at Magnolia House during a short vacation to the Gulf and a stay at Harrahs. Unfortunately, the experience was less that we expected. The chef may be a James Beard award winner, but his sous chefs at this location have a long way to go. The space is lovely, like going into a southern mansion, quiet and well appointed. Our server, L.J. was personable and competent, but the food itself was not up to level expected at this price point. The menu is limited to about four entrees Coming from the midwest, we were hoping to get local, fresh seafood. When an order was placed for one that was listed on the menu, we were told that they were out of that because they hadn't been able to get a supply of the product for three days. (This was the Tuesday after Christmas Day on Monday). My companion then ordered the next fish item which was sea bass. It was good. I, however, ordered the scallops which were overcooked and rubbery. When I inquired about the green sauce on my plate, the waiter's only explanation was, "that's our Lake Pontchartrain sauce ." No further description of the ingredients. It was the tastiest part of the plate, which consisted only of four scallops and a smear of the green stuff. I also ordered the house salad which was extremely overdressed bag-type lettuce and not much else. This restaurant needs considerable refinement in the kitchen before it lives up to its billing.
Excellent menu and quality. Special request were fulfilled prior to arrival. Excellent blend of surf and turf and the steak was off the chain.
Although there were very few people we were seated on the wall dividing the dining from the bar, was loud at times. Our server was just okay, not as attentive as usual for Magnolia House. Previously we have had excellent service. Upon opening the menu changed three or four times a year but now they are stuck on the same menu with very few changes. The Snapper was awesme but the pork chops a bit tough. The tuna was just okay, bland for my tastes. This was the first time that I have had a less than stellar experience.
The aged ribeye was average at best, no concentration of flavors as it should have been just another average ribeye for $68 . My wife requested gluten free and the server said that she could be accommodated. Well unfortunately there was gluten in several dishes and my wife became I'll that night and the next morning. Well because she had celiac disease we are very careful to assure gluten free. The service was excellent and I tipped accordingly. It is a shame that the food was Outback steakhouse level and service was exceptional.
Magnolia House by Kelly English is a great place for dinner - on any night or for any occasion. We celebrated a birthday and our waitress, Melissa, was very attentive. The food was prepared to everyone's liking and was served in a timely manner. No complaints - just lots of compliments for the chef and staff. Thanks, Magnolia House and Harrah's Gulf Coast!
Magnolia House is the true gem of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The food and the service are both impeccable. What you would expect from fine dining and then some. We had the Crab au Gratin with Crostinis for an appetizer. It was huge and so delicious. You won't be sorry you ordered it. For starters, we had the wedge salad, which had a modern twist with butter lettuce, olives and a Creole ranch dressing...divine, and the She Crab Soup, which was the best we had ever had. Chef must have a secret ingredient, because it was so smooth and decadent. For mains, we had she Sea Bass with a corn risotto and the dry aged prime bone in ribeye with lobster mashed potatoes. Wow! Just Wow! Incredible!!!!! The evening was only made better by our favorite waiter, Nick. He's a very personable guy and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Exactly what you want..extremely hard working, but makes time for any and all questions. Our assistant, Jacques, finished out the wonderful experience for us. A warm welcome, great smile and a helpful hand, Jacques was an awesome addition to the night. Thank you Magnolia House for another exquisite dinner.
SERVERS WERE VERY ATTENTIVE. HAD STEAKS, VERY TASTY. NOT VERY DIVERSE MENU...FISH OR STEAK. SALAD WAS VERY GOOD. AU GRATIN POTATOES WERE VERY TASTY.
My husband and I were visiting from NC. This was only our second visit. We enjoyed our meal at Magnolia very much. Our sever, Jayne was attentive to our needs.
I am probably spoiled but I would choose Ruth Chris over Magnolia House. Our steaks were lukewarm when served. At Ruth Chris the plate is very hot and keeps the steak hot.
My husband and I went for dinner this past Saturday. It was absolutely amazing. Everything from the beautiful dinning room, tentative wait staff, and mind blowing food.... our experience was outstanding! Thanks for a great night!
Have eaten here before and love the place, but the food quality was not what I had last time. I guess it depends on who is cooking back in the kitchen. The fryer cook must have been new. Fried green tomatoes over fried, and the crab claws were not the same cheesy batter as last time. But the entrees!!!!! Oh my. Very, very good. Fresh. Tasty. Just fantastic - both the fish dishes we had. Took almost 15 minutes to get my check when we were done, but I can still taste those entrees in my mouth days later. Excellent.
The atmosphere was soothing and comfortable and where you could sit back and enjoy the meal. Our food was terrific and varied; it was delivered in a timely fashion and in an appetizing display. Portions were certainly large enough to more than satisfy most guest. We enjoyed the meal and the service was first rate.
The service was excellent. Salads were very fresh and tasted great. My husband ordered the sea bass and it was very good. I ordered the scallops and they were so salty that I should have sent them back to the kitchen. The hash brown/bacon was over cooked. Overall I would not recommend Magnolia House. Next trip to Biloxi, we will try a different restaurant.
Highly recommended! Great service and delicious food!
I had some fantastically creative food that was just tasty, tasty, tasty! The fried crab claws were sprinkled with parmesan that created a taste I have never felt before. Fried green tomatoes were just excellent. Both of our fish dishes were just absolutely delicious. This food is just really, really good.
Should be voted the best in Biloxi.
Food was great and the service was also, will be back.
The vibe of the place is someone's home, which is kinda neat. Food was very original, and I look forward to returning.
Filet Mignon is to die for. 12oz. great value. Quiet , nice for talking.
