We had reservations. Was seated right away. Service was excellent but we were sat next to the bar which was pretty noisy. Also the room was a little too warm for my taste. We ordered the Lobster Tempura to start. Cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. My hubby ordered the surf and turf special, while I ordered the aged bone in ribeye with oscar sauce and a side of sautéed mushrooms. My hubby LOVED my steak better than his and said it was the best steak he ever tasted!.
The service the lobster tail & sea bass was barely average & the sautéed spinach was not eatebly & the appetizer, lobster tempura was much more tempura than lobster!!
This place was outstanding - our server, Josh, was alone outstanding but the food, excellent. Me and my friend left our husbands at home and went on our comped Harrahs Gulf Coast trip. We started with the Tempura Lobster and the only downside was leaving 2 because we got too full to eat the rest. We shared the Bibb salad, yummy, and even yummier, we each got a cup of the crab and brie soup. She wasn't as taken with it as I was but it had crab meat in every bite of this creamy, wonderfully delicious soup. Our entree was the sautéed gulf snapper which was delicious - the ponchatrain sauce just added to the wonderful taste. We were both so full and I wasn't 100% on the desserts so my friend got the vanilla creme creme bruelee which she said was awesome - I did eat a couple of the beignets that accompanied the dessert and they were oh, so good. Only thing better would to have had Cafe' DuMonde's in New Orleans (one of our favorite 'food' cities in the country! The entire meal was awesome and I would go back in a heartbeat. Again, the service was great, Josh just made it better.
We had a reservation. We were seated right away, but waited over 20 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us. Other waiters/waitresses couldn't find our waiter. When he finally came to our table, he offered dessert complimentary, but we don't eat dessert so I asked for the bottle of wine complimented instead. He was going to talk to his supervisor, but instead offered complimentary dessert to my husband when he returned to the table. We ordered our food. "Famous surf and turf"- New York strip stuffed with fried oysters and blue cheese. I have never had such poor steak at a "steak house". It was so fatty and chewy that the only part that was edible was the very center. Flavor bland at best. Oysters were too salty to eat. Side of asparagus tasted like the oil used was rancid. Fresh bread and the wine was the only part of the meal that was good. It took another 45 minutes to get our bill finalized so I could leave the table. They did take off most of the charge, but 90 minutes of my night wasted and went to bed hungry....
Every time that I have been here, it was too warm. They needed to turn down the AC. The managers suit jacket had sweat showing thru the back from where he was so hot also.
GREAT ‼️‼️‼️ FOOD GREAT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Ordered my filet as medium, when came the first time there was blood on the plate and when I cut into the filet it was definitely not medium. Told server and she apologized and took back. When she brought it back I cut into an end area and it looked okay. She left and I continued to eat, but when I cut into the middle it was still rare. Didn't bother telling her again, just ate what I could and left the rest. Decor is definitely outdated in the room I was seated in. Would not recommend and probably won't go back again unless it's a comped meal, which this one was.
Dinner was way overpriced and the service was unbelievably slow. We were the only table in the restaurant and constantly had to ask for our water or drinks to be refilled. This was almost a three hour ordeal. Appetizers came out and it started well. From there it was downhill fast. Would not recommend. By the way our waiter was "Johnnie" or better known as "Johnnie on the spot" as he stated. Not so much on the spot unfortunately.
The atmosphere at Magnolia House is unique in the fact that it is located in a Casino, but when you walk into Magnolia House you feel like you left the casino and are walking into a restaurant in the Garden District of New Orleans which was converted from an old home which is a good thing! The atmosphere is a great change of pace from the casino. The New York strip I ordered had great flavor, juicy and tender. It does not have the sear I would prefer on a steak but the flavors do make up for it. The bacon hash as a side is a wonderful treat. It is basically small diced hash brown potatoes and with small pieces of bacon. It’s not on the menu but it is often served with the specials so make sure and ask for it you won’t be disappointed. We have only been to Magnolia House a few times and unfortunately for them it has not been overly busy, but the food and ambience is deserving of more people to enjoy it!
Outstanding food and value. The "live music" on Friday night was excessively loud.
Place is just no good. Been twice. Always give everyone a second chance. Shouldn’t have known on a Saturday night at 7 pm. No one there. No people means no good food. Live in area.
The food was good, but nothing spectacular. The service was excellent.
The food was to die for. The server who name was Melissa was so great she was on top of everything did not have to wait for anything. We have ate there before but this time is was more than excellent. Temp on food was great. Also drinks were very good. Had a great time. Also made a new friend our server. Hats off to Melissa she is the bomb.
Nice, quiet with great service. But thought the "famous" surf and turf was just a mess, visually and taste-wise. The raw and "chef's" oysters were delicious. I would just choose a different entree next time.
Lamb was the best I have ever eaten. Fish was very bad.
Food was excellent service was great and ordered bottle of wine that was also exceptional! I complaints A+++++ our waiter Alan was great I recommend him if you will be dining here.
Second time there. First time experience was 4 star. This time service was lacking. A simple request for butter took 3 requests and over 20 minutes. At that point bread was cold. Really no apology. Given our bill before we were asked if we wanted desert. Not a great experience for the price.
The food was excellent as usual. Servers excellent. The music coming from the open area bar was way too loud. We couldn’t hear each other the server had trouble hearing us and vice versa. Music could be good but turn the volume down it was very annoying. Tables near us were complaining too which we only hear when the musician took a break.
We experienced an excellent meal and great ambionce on Aug.30,2018. Both steaks we're cooked to perfection, try the creamed spinach, it has a special touch I have never come across and we both loved it. I highly recommend the Magnolia House. Honestly can't say enough good things about them. Price was good and you won't walk away hungry, nice size portions.
Better than our visit to Ruth Chris in Chattanooga the night before.
Good ambiance. Loved the Sax Jazz music. Excellent service
Food was awful and so was service! Manager gave us a good credit but it was a ruined date night regardless
Friendly staff. Explained any platter you asked about to it's fullest. Made great suggestions and was very patient with us on trying to decide what we wanted. Food came out HOT and FRESH. We each(4) ordered something different to get a taste of 4 different dishes and each dish was VERY good!
We ordered the filet mignon and rhe scallops. Service was slow (had to ask for alcoholic beverage twice) and impersonal. Steak was nothing special, scallops arrived at cool temperature. Sauce on scallops (whatever it was supposed to be) was tasteless and added nothing to the meal. We shared creamed spinach, best part was bread crumbs on top, no flavor to the spinach itself. All-in-all, an unimpressive meal. Would not recommend what we ordered, and probably not the restaurant itself.
Four of us loved entire meal but crab cakes stole the show-- best ever!!!
The wait time was forever! The food was nothing to write home about, one of the filets we ordered was charred. Service was extremely slow, it took so long to get the check my family left and went back to the room. For the price, I expected better food and service.
Food issues for four tables in our room. Cold food, steaks not cooked correctly, etc.
Overall, a good experience. Very disappointed in our 2 oyster appetizer selections. I should have known better than to order them out of season. They were so small, several were the size of a dime. They did comp one of them.
We had a lovely time!
It was Father’s Day and my parents 57th Wedding Anniversary. Our table was ready on time. We requested Nick to be our server, and he took very good care of us. He always does. The food was fantastic. All the staff was very courteous and Nick provided an excellent dining experience for my family. Thank you.
I enjoyed everything from the staff to the ambience, as well as the food. I would recommend this restaurant to any and everyone for all occasions. I will definitely return.
Food was excellent, except the shrimp cocktail is just average. The salmon, sides, salad, and oysters were great. I don't think it's a reflection of our server. He had too many tables for fine dining. We were finished eating and sat for over 15 minutes before he returned.
Everything was excellent, good food & service. It was too bright in restaurant, needed low lighting for more ambiance setting
We had reservations and were seated quickly. However, the service was very slow. Our food arrived about an hour after being ordered. The food was very good. The servers are kind and polite but very slow and inattentive. Not much ambiance in the restaurant, only two tables have a window view. Our table was in the pathway of the servers which made the evening awkward and uncomfortable. I expected more for the price. I will probably try a different restaurant the next time I visit the area.
Enjoyed a very pleasant dining experience at Magnolia House. The service by Melissa was attentive without being obtrusive. The Coastal Surf and Turf was divine with creamy blue cheese and stuffed fried oysters. Overall, an excellent dining experience.
The bread was hard as a rock, the entree was just ok...especially for the amount of money we spent, we were highly dissatisfied.
Food was excellent. We had fresh oysters, house salad, ceasar salad, crab bisque, Petit filet Oscar, grilled asparagus and Layer Cake Cabernet. Kristen and Josh handled our table and both were great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I made a point with my reservation that this was a Birthday dinner for my wife. Upon arriving and during our meal, no one at the restaurant acknowledged the occasion, down to the terrible seating. The waitress/server was far to busy talking to the table next to us to observe that we were needing serve. My steak was overstuffed with blue cheese (covered up the taste) and under cooked. The service at a Steak n Shake is more attentive than at this high price debacle of a restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Another wonderful experience. Johnny and Josh were wonderful. We didn't feel rushed to
make decisions. We had a great overall dinning experience. Thanks to all at Magnolia House.
Overall very positive experience Had the steak tartare and spinach and oysters salad gf had fillet all good
Lights needed to be dimmer
tartare was an appetizer but for price a little small
Waiter was outstanding
