Horrible steak. I actually though I had went to a buffet that had steak because this has so much grissle an fat. Just no worth the dollars.
Reservation was for 8 people on Mother’s Day. 1 high chair was asked for in the request but never provided. My brother arrived a few minutes early after driving from New Orleans but had to insist to be seated prior to the rest of the groups arrival. They had a Mother’s Day menu which was reasonably priced and included a modest buffet and entree included. The second incident was when my brother ordered the steak and eggs which was on the entrees menu and clearly stated 3 eggs any style. Our server, Latoya told him he could not have his eggs poached when he ordered. She said he could only have scrambled or sunny side up. He politely said please just ask the chef. I’m not sure if she knew what poached eggs were but they are certainly a style. The third incident was when I discretely tried to tell Latoya that I would like to pay for my Mother’s meal. She made a scene and nobody understood what she was saying. She was not able to articulate her own confusion. Long story short, she thought our meal was complementary from the casino but we were just locals trying to dine. When our food arrived, my brothers meal was cold and had to be sent back. He said his steak and eggs was comparable to Waffle House. Upon inspection, I tended to agree however he said it would have tasted better at WH. The steak was very thin and kind of an embarrassing presentation for a fine dining establishment. She gave my food to my other brother and both of us just ate what was served to us. The biscuits probably would have been great if hot but were served cold. The final incident happened with the bill. She brought me my check and I placed my credit card in the folder and when she returned she had run my card for more than what was stated on the bill. When I inquired if gratuity was included she was befuddled and didn’t know how the mistake was made. When she returned several minutes later she said she added a drink to my ticket somehow. Service horrible. Food not good. Shame since place is nice
The food had really good flavor. Our waitress was Breann and she was fantastic. We will definitely be going back.
Pretty decorated environment; pastries were good for the mother's day brunch. I love it when you go somewhere, and experience a staff that works together. The only thing i do not like at all, is not only here, but a lot of buffets where fruit is served and there are FRUIT FLIES!!
Our waiter Nick was awesome. So much so that we asked for him the next day.
We had a great time! The food was great and the food was excellent! Hazel
Each time my lady and myself come to the casino we try to eat at the Magnolia house because of the food etc. Hope to be back soon
We arrived early and were seated right away. This is a great experience overall. Our wait staff was attentive, the bread was warm and soft. Out entrees were very good. I want to return to try a few other things! Very enjoyable experience!
The wait staff was very attentive. We ordered the famous surf and turf, which I was a little disappointed in. It was a very adequate size fillet mignon with deep fried oysters and blue cheese inside with two types of sauce on the top. It was a lot to take in however the meat was cooked excellent and I did like the blue cheese. The oysters did not taste like anything and for me would’ve preferred a regular surf and turf type of meal. It did not come with the side however I shared it with my husband and we did not go away hungry. I would recommend this at the Harris Casino as a very nice place to have dinner
Seated in the back room .....would have liked a better view but the food was excellent. Had the night’s special of scallops and prawns over a rich couscous. My husband had the reddish topped with crab and shrimp in a won sauce.
All members of our party enjoyed our meals. We were the only ones besides a table of one at 7pm. I don’t know if it was an off night or if it’s like this most nights. I sure hope not!
Good food and nice atmosphere.
Met family and had reservations for 7pm. seated in a room with only another couple and door was closed for privacy and good conversation. Appetizers were good and large enough to share. Drinks were wonderful. Dinner was very good. Two fish dinners - Sea Bass and Grouper and two meat dinner - Short rib and a New York Strip. All were happy with their selections. Too full for dessert. Had such a great time. We went back Friday night - just the two of us and were surprised to have a Sax player - Jordan belted out wonderful tunes. Little pricey but we knew it was the upscale restaurant.
Way less than expectations but so much has to do with wait staff. Ambiance okay nothing special for a high end restaurant. Our waiter was not engaged at all. When asked about menu items he didn’t know and didn’t offer to find out. That has never happened before at a restaurant of this level
My oysters had pieces a of shell in 5 of the 6 plated. My entree was cooked perfectly but my partners was greasy and fatty. Clearly not what was expected but the waiter never returned to ask about the dish. We ate without any further interest from the staff until check time. Paid bill and out. Restaurant was not busy I’m guessing waiter just had a really bad night. His assistant was attentive and pleasant but clearly not empowered to help us. Many other diners have given good reviews. So I’ll just say I won’t be back.
Ate there 2 times on recent trip. Both meals along with excellent service were the highlight of my trip.
2 0f the 4 people in my party selected the pork chop and thought it was just OK. 1 person was satisfied with his steak choice. I, however, was very dissatisfied with my Chilean Sea Bass. It was the smallest portion of sea bass that I have ever been served and was on the thin side with a nondescript taste. When I questioned our server, he said that sometimes they come that way. Sea bass is one of my favorite seafoods and, whether I ordered it at a restaurant or purchased from a seafood market, it has always been a thick cut and very succulent. I regret that I did not send it back and ordered something else.
My Caesar Salad was very good, but my "gulf crab cakes with boiled peanut romesco" were just so/so. They blew it with the boiled peanut sauce. Had to scrape it off. Then we ordered a dessert, "saint louis chocolate gooey butter cake." Well the ice cream was good, but couldn't even eat the the chocolate cake base. It was really strange.
So, we have been here on many occasions over the past few years. We ordered the 16oz Ribeye (medium) and mashed potatoes. The steak came out RARE, not medium rare, but rare! The potatoes were not hot to start with and by the time our steak came back out after about 10 minutes, which was way too long to cook that steak, the potatoes were cold. Everything had a great taste to it. It should not have taken 10 minutes or more to cook the steak the 2nd time. We were in the restaurant 30 minutes before closing and there was only 2 other people in there so it's not like they were busy. The service was GREAT! Johnny was our waiter and he did an awesome job! I don't recall his assistant's name, but she was great also! We WILL be back, that I am sure of. We always stay at Harrah's when in the area and we always eat at the Magnolia House. :)
Great food, good service, highly recommend the filet!
Very nice menu and wine list. Restaurant is small and intimate. Wait staff was very attentive and I recommend the food and setting for casual and relaxed dining
Ordered 12 oysters, scrawny small and not good for the price. Split a chopped salad, ok. Ordered sea bass. Horrible. Very fishy and old. Terrible. Will never go back
crab cakes best this side of maryland. cucumber jalapeno martini was a pleasant surprise from a-1 bartender. butternut squash and sea bass real fine!
This was our 4th time at Magnolia. Always good before. Service was good again but the food was poor. I had a chicken pot pie soup that wasn’t as good as a $1 frozen pot pie. A butternut squash casserole side that would have been good if it hadn’t been covered in a tangy/bitter sauce. And a $40+ NY strip that was cooked two levels past what I ordered. Well done instead of medium. The server would have had it recooked but we’d been there over an hour already so I didn’t have time to wait for the kitchen to try again. BTW, my wife ordered her filet medium and it was fine.
We had a fabulous dinner....my husband had surf and turf, very delicious....I had king crab legs and they were divine.....wasn't a fan of the caesar salad. I also had the smashed cheese potatoes and they were excellent....can't remember our servers name, but she was wonderful! We were very pleased!
Sorry, the signature rib eye steak dinner stuffed with oysters was awful. The steak was too fatty and sinnewy, very difficult to chew. The crab and Brie soup was very good.
Our server, Breann, was phenomenal! She was so kind, brought our food in a timely manner, and made sure that our experience was one that had us excited to come back again soon!
Fabulous menu. It leans toward Southern style foods, but his take on surf and turf is definitely a wonderful surprise. It's a warm and friendly ambience and the front dining area has a view of the bay.
Had reservations still had to wait 20 minutes they were not busy at all. Server friendly but not efficient for a restaurant of the caliber, 1 thing at a time. Steaks were barley warm and flavor not what a 46.00 steak should be, I’ve had better at the Waffle House. Had to ask for the check twice, the rest of our stay at Harrah’s has been great this was the only disappointment, maybe just an off night.
The food was very good. The service impeccable. Atmosohere ... just right. Have planned our next visit. Crab gratin ... a must!!!
We always eat at Magnolia House when we are in Biloxi and the food and service are always wonderful! My husband loves the King Crab Legs he gets them every time and the wedge salad is another favorite of ours.
Waitress kept apologizing because there were only two servers instead of three. I guess they ran out of baked potatoes in the middle of cooking our meal because we had to order something else. My husband and I thought our steaks were lukewarm instead of HOT. We could hear the whole conversation between the two people sitting on the table next to ours....
I personally have a problem with any restaurant that makes you wait for 15 minutes Michaela to be seated when the restaurant is half empty
Lobster tempura excellent and the portions are very large. Staff was amazingly.
It was ok. Steak was tough with lots of gristle. Service was good. Waitress was knowledgeable of menu.
The food and service was outstanding!best creamed spinach we have ever had.
Ask for Melissa and Loretta to be your waitress and Loreeta her assistant. They made our dinner exceptionally special. They were very attentive to our needs!
Food was good, service was terrible. waited for ever appetizer and salad. Asked if I wanted fresh ground pepper on salad, I said yes, they never returned. Brought my main course and I asked if I got bread, she also forgot that. I would not return.
We used this for our diamond celebration dinner. Our server was amazing. Wine choice was recommendation and was bang on. Wow kd highly recommend
Food is good. Room was loud and table clothes etc were messy. Not what I would expect at this price.
I would hope that they reinstitute lamb chops on the menu permanently. We are from NJ and my wife simply dreams of them every time we travel to Harrahs Gulfcoast. Don't misunderstand, we settled for an exceptional steak which was cooked and seasoned to perfection and we were delighted with the food. To our pleasant surprise we went to Magnolia House for a revisit on Sunday, and we were fortunate to find lamb chops as a special and my wife was thrilled. I will close with the special fondness we have for our server, Melissa. She is the perfect example of an outstanding employee who is warm and pleasant and the epitome of southern hospitality. We shall ask for her every time we visit. Thank you for the opportunity to share our expereinces
Great menu, great people and 1st Class hospitality and service. Rich atmosphere and fantastic view of the Iconic Oak Tree!
