Wonderful atmosphere. Great service. Delicious food. Wonderful afternoon
Wonderful food, and a very festive atmosphere; very attentive and knowledgeable server. We were there on an extremely busy Friday, and my clients were elderly. We had a very hard time hearing each other, so we probably would opt for another lunch place for that reason. I will bring other clients, though, who may not mind the decibel level.

The best lunch experience in Pacific Heights.
First rate service, food, ambience, go here!!
Great; Warm greeting on arrival, nice staff and great food. This place is a gem in every regard.
Phil is a very gracious host - warm and friendly - staff excellent -it's a repeat for sure.
Very good service, great food
This is my 3rd time at this fabulous restaurant. I went here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and the brunch was absolutely exquisite. The service was great and the different flavor profiles of all the food was amazing!
Great food and service.
Always a great spot to go for brunch. Try snagging a seat in their patio area.
Consistently high quality food and service. Friendly comfortable neighborhood restaurant
Every item order was absolutely delicious! Customer service was excellent. The ambience of this restaurant is as quiet as they come. Don’t forget to order the French toast with strawberries if you go to brunch. The best I’ve ever had!!!! Definitely worth the visit. 🤗
So nice service and food ! Been there lots of times always good!
We three ladies enjoyed a great lunch (the salmon salad was wonderful) and were treated really well by the owner and the waiter. They knew just when to engage and when we wanted to visit with each other. The dessert tray was tempting, and we each selected a different one. They were all very good. We loved this restaurant.
I love this place for a nice, calm brunch atmosphere. It's quiet and soothing, and the staff is great. They are welcoming and the food is very good. Big portions.
Perf toon in the neighborhood!
I asked for a quiet stable in the heated patio area since we would be having a private conversation and the server was accommodating.
The heater was on when we were seated but the timer had turned off about 20 minutes after we were seated.
The clam chowder was tasty, the arugula caprese salad was good but the arugula was not the fresh and was wilting.
The pork chop with fig compote, Brussel sprouts with bacon and fingerling potatoes were delicious. The Brussel sprouts were a tad over cooked but the potatoes and pork chop (medium) was made perfectly.
The fruiti de mare was good but nothing that stood out. The mussels were small, calamari was over cooked/tough/chewy and the salmon was over cooked. The pasta portion was very small, hidden underneath the seafood.
Our champagne cocktails were delicious.
Although I asked for privacy I did not expect the server to not check in with us.
Thankfully he came out to check on the heater and turn it back on at the right time as it started to get chilly.
Overall a decent dinner but as slow as the evening was (Friday, January 4, 2019), service could have been more attentive.
I recognize I asked for privacy but a peep or 3 more quick glances to the patio area to see if we were doing alright would have been welcomed.
Always consistent food quality and service. Every bit as delicious and memorable as it was when they opened many years ago!!!!
I last visited this restaurant 5+ years ago when I came in to SF. Happy to say it's still the lovely place I remembered. Great service, cozy, delicious food. Somehow one feels transported to another world. It is especially inviting during Christmas time!
Delicious food. Adorable restaurant. Great service. Definitely my favorite brunch spot in the city!
Darling neighborhood eatery! We had the salads and chicken pesto sandwich very delicious
Phil was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and it only got better and better! Great service by David and incredible food for brunch. My Presidio scramble was absolutely delicious while quiche and chicken hash were equally splendid according to my companions.
Magic flute is a wonderful spot. Thanks!
Great food and excellent service
The food provided variety. We all had a different dish and they were all excellent. Oh wait it was very attentive and helpful. Overall the experience was wonderful
Had lunch with a friend and we both had salads. Everything was delicious and fresh.
Great hidden gem in the neighborhood.
First time visit with friends- from the warm greeting to the warm Beignets we had for dessert the whole experience was wonderful.
Our brunch started with the fried olives which were crispy with a soft and salty inside - delicious.
Our table had the quiche, steak salad, chicken hash and the awesome lamb burger.
Sat in the yard by the fountain- great first time experience and we will be back.
Great brunch on a beautiful day in San Francisco! The patio was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the day.
Amazing ambience, food and service! Must-visit in SF!
Never disappointed by the food or service
This place is great, like visiting family. Staff is super attentive and the food is top notch!
We go there when we go to the deYoung Museuum
Always, delicious and fresh food
I have been to the Magic Flute many times over several years. This most recent visit for lunch surprised me with an upgrade to the bread and the Cobb Salad. Good job Magic Flute!
Case in point. A table of two, without a reservation, sat down next to us. We’d been waiting for several minutes for coffee, water, Etc. The coffee we ordered went to the table that had just sat down. I flagged down a waiter and wondered aloud where our coffee was.
I found the service was lacking considering the money we spent.
But the food was amazing. French toast, MAmma Mia pizza, and Beignets, all stellar. The person at the counter who I assume was the owner was very cordial. And really the waiter was too. But it seemed disorganized and they were overwhelmed.
Maybe we caught the front of the house on a bad day.
We’d still go back, this is our 2nd visit.
Best and most delicious brunch/lunch in San Francisco. Outdoor patio is great and inside sitting, especially the front room is lovely and comfortable. Terrific service.
Excellent job accommodating diet restrictions!!
We went with friends for Sunday brunch and they still got it! Everyone enjoyed their meals!
I've been dining at The Magic Flute for 30 years, and it has been great every time. Phil does a great job greeting and seating customers and is always available at the front desk if you have questions or need assistance. The service is very professional. At brunch, our latest dining experience, there were a number of interesting appetizers (the stuffed Medjool dates were excellent). The breakfast-leaning items include eggs Benedict, two very tasty scrambles, omelets and French toast. We always end our meal with beignets that are served with a mascarpone cream and fresh strawberries. The bellini and bloody mary are very good. The back garden is a nice change of pace, and with heaters it is pleasant even on a cold day.
We've been coming to Magic Flute for years, but less frequently since we moved away from the area. Last weekend we met two other couples and had a super experience. The food was excellent (particularly the evening's special), it was quiet and cozy, and Joe was an outstanding host. Highly recommend dinner and our old favorite of sunday brunch. Always a good experience.
