The fish was fresh with tasteful accompaniments. The rice was slightly softer then desired for sushi rice. Wagyu was marbled well with excellent presentation. Came here to celebrate a 30th birthday (actually on day of!) but waiter had to be reminded at the end of the meal which he then offered a single glass of Prosecco to the birthday boy. Reservations were made with notation for birthday celebration. Slightly disappointed as we have celebrated many prior special occasions in the past several years since we moved to the triangle and had much more gracious acknowledgements.
Awesome! Love the food and service.
Be rthday. Good
First time there. Solid. Will add it to my restaurant rotation.
very fine dining, everything on the menu is out of this world. so impressed by the service!
Anniversary dinner and it was incredible. Great service, food, and atmosphere. Thank you!
Wonderful time. Sat at sushi bar and enjoyed chef’s selection of nigiri. He did a great job selecting the pieces, describing the differences/tastes and giving us other interesting information. He was very entertaining and the food was very fresh and delicious.
The special roll was great. The spicy tuna roll was too bland and nothing unusual compared to other sushi restaurants
Food was great and fare priced, but wine was really expensive ($16/glass) vs. beer $6.
We used to live in NYC so had access to some of the best sushi in the US. M Sushi is up there with the best of them. A little expensive and it can be tough to get a reservation, but the quality and creativity is amazing. I found the crowd to be a little OTT, but I guess that's what you get at one of the Triangle's hipper/better places. Highly recommended.
Excellent food but somewhat smokey environnement at the bar
Great date night, especially for a special occasion. Sitting at the bar was super interesting - so much action going on with cooking behind the bar. Really good food, as expected. Lots of interesting options on the menu.
Ordered the black cod and when the pot came out I kept the lid on for one minute. Black cod was crispy around the corners, smokey buttery, and flavorful with sweet citrus notes and pickled pepper. Bomb
I have eaten sushi in first class sushi restaurants around the world (Osaka, Lima, New York, San Francisco, etc.). M Sushi is very good to excellent.
This is the tastiest sushi I have enjoyed in the Triangle. My wife and I shared three rolls and had miso soup as well. The price isn't out of line with the quality of the food, you pay for what you get.
Always a good choice. High quality, fresh fish (I am usually a sushi or roll consumer so this is key!) and well prepared. Very good service and a good spot for business lunch and conversation. Best sushi in Durham.
Simply the best Sushi within 200 miles. I challenge anyone to find a better place.
The food was well prepared, pleasant to look at on the plate, and the sushi was very fresh. The grilled octopus dish was good but a little light on the octopus for the price. Likewise the seaweed salad was light on the seaweed and heavy on the arugula. My main issue was the smoke in our area from a nearby table that were cooking/burning their own food—if you're going to allow this at each table at least provide some ventilating hoods overhead to remove the smoke before it damages your guests' lungs.
Amazing!! The best sushi. Our favorite place!!
Excellent food and ambiance
Best sushi, maybe ever
I was sick as a dog all day the day following M sushi. I have been there many times and have loved it before. But I couldn't keep anything down the next day. I was also really disappointed to see that they added bluefin tuna, a severely overfished fish, back to the menu. It doesn't make me feel great to be giving my money to a place that has a high disregard for the sustainability of the fish on the menu. I will sadly probably not be going back.
We live in a neighborhood where sustainability is a very crucial topic. We use farm raised blue fin tuna. While farmed tuna isn't 100% sustainable, it does help quite a bit through regulatory actions and control etc.. We use farmed and do not use wild caught blue fins. In the near future and for your own knowledge, there are 2 fisheries that are close to providing 100% sustainable blue fin tunas very soon. This is exciting news as we personally have been divided in using the blue fin tuna.
Impeccable service while maintains friendly vibe
Food was great, saki was great. Wait person brought me several to try before I decided.
Excellent overall. I will return.
Fun day out with friends!
Great food and ambiance. Bad aeration so your cloth will smell
Amazing meal, had the Nigiri Omakase Quentin and Aubrey killer it. Can’t wait to come back.
We weren’t able to sit at the bar as requested. The food was great but took a longer time than expected.
I hope things will be better next time.
However the next you accept reservations and are not open please at least call back or post signage as did your other restaurants.
It was a snow day several people were lined up you accepted the reservation, yet were closed for lunch only to open at dinner.:((
Luckily an employee of one of the other M came by to inform the line.
Very disappointed we were not able to dine. Maybe next time.
Great dining experience
The grand omakase is amazing. Highly recommend.
Unbelievably good food
Insanely good food and service.
Wonderful date night.
Was Valentine Day had a 1:45 reservation but could eat or order because host said “we stop taking orders 2pm”
So I was upset but couldn’t show it. Been wanting to eat there since they opened. But I guess the sushi gods are trying to warn me. I will continue to eat at where a reservation is respected. M Disappointed.
Overall excellent sushi with some truly mind-blowing & creative entries (i.e. the Battera Zushi, the Chirashi, the Yuzu ice cream dessert). Good service, found the ambience fine but a little too 'tech transplant fancy' if you know what I mean. Worth it for special occasions, but for regular sushi outings, the more traditional yet also excellent Waraji is a better value. Surprisingly for downtown Durham, does not do cocktails - Kingfisher is right around the corner, though.
We were there for our anniversary and were so excited to come back! There was a loud crowd behind us that kind of ruined the ambiance but the food was superb
My daughters 15 birthday. And the waiter charged me for
Coffee and never brought it. 😃
Hands down the best sushi experience we have ever had! The nigiri omakase was out of this world.
Best sushi in town! Never disappoints!
Whenever I am in Durham, M sushi is ALWAYS my priority dinner stop. Truly a wonderful experience every time :)
