Love the food here. Delicious and creative. Friendly staff.
First diners of the night. Got food and it was lukewarm. Was just ok, food use to be so good back in the day. Won’t be back again for awhile.
Reservations for brunch recommended. Place is legit
The food at Lulu's was very good. It was a very busy Sunday and the restaurant packs you in, therefore it was very noisy. We would definitely go back but hopefully on a more quiet day/night.
Excellent service. Attentive but not overbearing. Great brunch food. They hit all the marks.
Have had brunch here a few times, mostly very good experiences. However, on New Year’s Day I was appalled by the poor service and customer appreciation.
As a bruncher I REALLY wanted loved this place because so many of my friends and family recommended it. Overall I had a good dining experience but I think my expectations were too high (especially when compared to my favorite brunch spots in other locales). I had the Brazilian Mimosa and French Toast with the thick sliced bacon and potatoes add-ons. My highlights were the cocktail (unique/tasty, generous amount, well priced), and the sides (the potatoes were excellent... crispy-yet moist, and well seasoned). The French toast was just OK (the slices were things as I'm used to fluffy large slices...I guess once you go Challa you can't go back LOL) but I've definitely had better. Service was so-so because our waitress went M.I.A for a little over 10 minutes when it came time to get our check, but thankfully we weren't in a hurry. I'm definitely going to give it another try now that my expectations have self-corrected because it's decent enough for a second stop thru....I'll just be trying something else.
We went for NYE ....we’ve been to LuLu’s for brunch before and it was Awesome...but our experience on NYE was just terrible. It was a three course menu, the choices all looked good but the service was ridiculously slow and the food was mediocre. It doesn’t have me excited to go back for dinner again anytime soon.
Great food and the homefrys are to die for!! I love this place we will be back. Must go place in RVA you just might need to make a reservation though because they are jammed packed.
Overall we were disappointed in our dining experience. I ordered the chicken and waffles which came with eggs and potatoes (a half a waffle and two small pieces of a boneless chicken breast). I asked for soft scrambled eggs with cheese and received over cooked eggs with cheese on top. I brought this to my servers attention and was told the food was prepared in advance. This was very disappointing that the food is not MADE TO ORDER. Also, the food sits without warming lights and was served lukewarm at best.
The food was great, everyone enjoyed all their brunch choices. The mimosas - our table tried 4 different types - were delicious. The service was very slow, our food order wasn't taken for at least 45 minutes after we sat down. When our drinks came, they all looked alike and the wait staff didn't know which was which. Our waitress came and identified them, but after tasting them, we realized she had three of the four wrong. Everyone was polite and all food options were wonderful, but they need to get enough servers for the demand.
MY SECOND TIME COMING AND WAS NOT HAPPY THAT SOUR CREAM WAS INSIDE THE OMLETTE I DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE THE FIRST MEAL WITH THE SAME ORDER. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE SERVER DID NOT OFFER TO CHANGE MY ORDER NO EMPATHY AND THE SERVER ONLY CHECKED ON US ONE TIME WE HAD TO GET OTHER SERVERS TO CONTACT OUR SERVER
Stuck around corner in booth
Dirty, sticky table
So so service
very cosy, waiters bumped into my chairs couple times, forgot our drinks 3 times.
The red velvet waffles are supreme! food is tasty!
Brunch after church with family. Extremely pleased with food, took noticeably long to be brought out. Moderately loud but not horribly so. Would definitely come back.
Our party enjoyed the shrimp & grits, huevos rancheros, biscuit and chorizo frittata. The Brazilian mimosa and Moscow mule were delicious too. We liked the eclectic environment!
Food is good but service is hit or miss
Grabbed a bite at Lulus when we were enjoying some mother/daughter time on the ice rink. Food and drinks were raved about by everyone in our party of six and our waitress and waitress in training were wonderful as well.
Good, fun brunch place. Food and drinks were good with good serivice. I would go back
I enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
A bit pricey for brunch and cramped.
Was a great experience.
Took the waitress over and hour to even take our order. Kept walking past us to assist another table that got seated after us. They also received their food before we even ordered. Eggs were cold. Just a horrible experience for my family whose 1st time was not memorable.
I made a reservation for my husband’s birthday on Saturday December 22. The reservation for 8 at 7PM. The group is local to Richmond and I wanted to go somewhere no one has been. I heard good things about LuLu’s and that’s where I decided we would celebrate.
Four of us arrived as two were waiting promptly at 7. Before asking anything of our group the waitress let us know that the kitchen would be closing at 9, which I was aware of when making the reservation. We ordered our drinks and some appetizers as we waited for the last two arrive. So we are enjoying our second round of drinks and second round of appetizers around 7:45 and a new waitress, (red hair, petite frame), approaches our table. She asked us if we were ordering entrees and again tells us the kitchen is closing at 9. We assured her we would be ordering as soon as the last two arrived. She was CLEARLY not in good mood and kind of dampened the spirits of our table. Our friends arrived just before 8. Before they could sit the “new” waitress asks what they would like to drink and they asked for a second to sit, etc. MAYBE 60 seconds later she returns with a very hostile demeanor. One of the guests who just arrived asked what was on tap and the new waitress stated that it’s on the menu...which he was not given. So he asks for a moment to see the menu. The “new” waitress returns and informs us that the kitchen will now be closing at 8:30 which very much seemed like a “please leave.” We asked for our checks and left.
I’m not sure who receives this review, but I just wanted to make it clear that unfortunately none of us will return to your establishment. The food and drinks we did have were spectacular. Our original waitress, (brunette with a delightful accent), was incredibly accommodating. I know everyone has a bad day, but our “new”waitress really put a bad taste in all of our mouths for the entire experience.
I hope this survey finds it way to the right person.
Food was very good and it's nice they accept reservations. Parking wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, we had no trouble finding a spot. Server was friendly but a little slow to refill drinks and bring check (it was pretty busy though). We'll go back for sure.
Great brunch, as always!
Great brunch spot but noisy... The waffles are pretty good, omlettes are best
Overall, the experience was great. My shrimp and grits were kind of lukewarm when they got to me, but they were delicious!
The noise was extremely annoying this time. Yuck. People nearly shouting.
I was glad we made reservations because the restaurant was packed even on a snow day. The food was fantastic however the restaurant is very loud and hard to carry on a conversation.
terrific brunch and great bloody mary's. Recommend reservations for Sat or Sun brunch. we were seated right away but there was quite a line of pp who just walked in.
Excellent weekend brunch, some of the tastiest brunch food I've had. Excellent cocktails and very generously-sized mimosas. Fun and lively interior but quiet enough to still hear the conversation.
Very good. Our server was energetic and knowledgeable about food!
This was one of my worst dining experiences as far as service goes. The food (brunch) was outstanding. However, I experienced a plethora of issues when dining here. It began with the restaurant initially losing my reservation. Things happen and the manager was very kind, so I was willing to initially let it go. After some time, the manager said he was able to find the reservation on the computer in the back (not in the front though). My group is then sat. It took over 20 minutes before we saw our server. She dropped off waters then, without taking drink orders or asking our table a thing, disappeared for another 20 minutes. We finally get our drink orders, but throughout the meal we had to specifically grab our server's attention to request refills. We also had to specifically tell her, "we would like to order our meals," because she just never asked and was never around our table. When our meals do come out, they randomly decided to throw bacon on my vegetarian friend's sandwich. The sandwich does not even come with bacon -- you need to pay extra to have it added. So it took about 15 more minutes for her sandwich to be replaced. Then, by the end, we request separate checks with the exception of one couple. Our server does some musical chairs with our checks, nonsensically putting items on others' checks. It seemed that she just assigned items to checks at random. We have her correct this and this time she accidentally forgets to charge for most of our drinks -- we kept quiet about this one consolation. In the end, we never once received any kindness or apology. Her response to the bacon on the vegetarian sandwich was "oh." We rushed out of there and barely made it to the meter in time.
Excellent food, but the worst server I have ever experienced. The manager was very kind when I spoke with him before being seated, so I believe my experience may be limited to my server.
Had to wait 20 minutes even with a
Reservation. The people in the booth behind us were loud and obnoxious—-at one point someone screeched at the top of their lungs like it was no big deal....
Extremely busy for brunch, we were seated immediately as we had a a reservation. Food and service were both very good.
Excellent Sunday Brunch. Great Service..... a little noisy for us seniors....but lots of good energy!
Outstanding! We will go back again to brunch. Two thumbs up!
Music beats were annoying, in an already crowded and noisey venue. Classical or no music would have been prefererable.
Food and service is GREAT! Inside is not wheelchair accessible, though. There's a step up to get in & it's tight quarters, especially if busy. If someone is absolutely wheelchair-bound, then you might want to wait for good weather when outside seating is available. But...the food is fantastic and worth the hassle.
The food is amazing, I got the Florentine and would absolutely go back just to eat that again. You need to make a reservation otherwise you stand around waiting for a table. It’s very loud and you can barely hear yourself think.
Brunch at Lulu’s is really great.
