L'ulivo Villiers Street
Here at L'ulivo (loo-lee-voh), our customers are the number one priority, and we‘ve been taking care of them our way for years. Freshly prepared authentic Italian cuisine is what we love and what keeps our customers coming back. We’ve always endeavoured to provide the best food, service and atmosphere of any London eatery.
Bruschetta dissapointing as it was rasther tastless probably due to the tomatoes.
Not very special. Most of the ingredients were straight from a can, example Salmon Nicoise salad had just packaged smoked salmon not a real piece of baked salmon as one would expect on a proper Nicoise.
Food was good and choice excellent for a vegetarian. Large garlic bread great. Main meals nice and hot with plenty of options. Puddings on the expensive side for the size given, but very nice. TLadies toilets are cozy.
Great food, service was timely and accurate. Spent a very enjoyable long lunch with no pressure to rush.
I may have only marked '3' but do not avoid this as it is a good restaurant to go pre-theatre (local to the Playhouse), it is a good Italian restaurant with very efficient service ie we will return!
I have a limited choice because of varying food sensitivities. It would be nice if they had a
a gluten free pizza base. Maybe something they could consider. However I know the prawns are always well done to the recipe I require so this restaurant is a favourite for me. The service is always good and attentive of my food sensitivities. It is also right opposite Charing Cross station so the journey home is a simple one.
Excellent for pre-theatre meal - delicious pasta and risotto and fine desserts
Sehr leckere Gerichte, die Weinempfehlung war hervorragend. Der Service war freundlich. Wie waren gleich zwei Abende nacheinander zum Dinner dort.
Great place for dinner on New Year's Eve. Good food, speedy service with a smile!
We booked a table for New Years Eve. We were not made aware of the 25% service charge when we booked. I understand that it was a busy evening, but the service was very hurried and our dinner felt very rushed. However the food was great.
While this restaurant is on a busy street across from the train station it was very pleasant we were seated promptly and given time to order drinks and appetizers before our main course We had the squid ink pasta, the prawn diablo with the mussel appetizer It is an excellent choice in the Charing Cross area
Food was fine. Not the best and not the worst Italian meal. But, as a party of 1, I felt like I was shoved in a corner and, other than taking my order (finally!) and delivering the food to my table, I may as well as been invisible. I literally had to beg to pay my bill at the end of my meal, asking no less than 3 employees to allow me to pay my bill. If the restaurant doesn’t want to serve parties of 1, they should limit the type of reservation they accept. From the time I sat down, it took 2 hours to have a 2-course meal. Not because the portions were large but because I was not acknowledged for 20 minutes at the start of my meal and it took over 30minutes before someone took the 3-minutes to process my payment for the food. Worst dining experience I had during a 11-day trip to London.
From the moment we walked in the staff we not attentive and borderline rude... and not just to us, to everyone. They try to walk away before you have finished ordering and that's if you can manage to grab their attention long enough to tell them you want something. They forget things too, a note book might comr in handy for these guys. They did remove some of the incorrect food from the bill but I would still give this place a miss next time.
Amazing food, all staff really Friendly and very welcoming. brilliant service and accommodating
Really enjoyed the meal, been three times so far and not been disappointed once. Will be returning ASAP.
The food was amazing and there was a lovely ambience.Glad we booked as this was very busy.
The toilets were a bit of a let down and needs a good overhaul however.
Would definitely recommend this amazing Italian restaurant .
A 25% mandatory service charge added on a Christmas Day. Without having been informed I just spotted that on the bottom of the menu once I sat. Honestly is not really professional especially when the service was poor for the whole time. Not deserved at all.
I had a main course of veal which was overcooked and very dry. Complained to waitress who offered to replace or refund. Due to time constraints, I decided to have a refund. Everything else was fine. Waitress was very apologetic and courteous
We had a great meal here before going to the theatre. Food and drink is wide ranging and delicious. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent and didn't have to wait for our food to arrive and at the same time never felt rushed to leave. Will come again and highly recommend this place!
Delicious, good value meal. Had to ask for 'theatre menu' (special 2 course or 3 course meal) as it wasn't given out to us.
It was OK - there are better options. Would not go again.
Nice restaurant, very cosy and staff members are nice and friendly. The food was ok but can do a little bit more seasoning. The price is little above than what I expected when compared to other restaurants.
London, 7pm, we were able to get seating for 7 in a private room without a reservation and it was packed! Wonderful food, and great service!
The food was first class. It was a business lunch with an important very personable client so everything that happened was solved quickly with hardly any words as the young lady serving instantly took care of it. So, we were having such an enjoyable time talking about the holidays, family and a little business that neither of us asked anything about what we were ordering so when my clients roast duck meal arrived he could see immediacy he needed something else. He seen my salmon dish had rice so he asked could he please have some rice so the young lady had it there in a thrice... Problem solved in no time. Then my clien came time for desert and I have blood sugar issues so I couldn't have anything that is on the menu so my client said we don't need desert but I know from before he loves deserts do I call the young lady over and said we would like to order desert but could I have some fruit instead, any fruit will be fine so she said sure and came back with the deserts and mine was some orange segments arranged in the shape of a star. Perfect, delicious no fuss, impressive. I can't wait to return. And convince? My client lives in Tunbridge wells and I live in Orpington L'ulivo is only literally feet and inches away from platforms 5 & 6 at Charing Cross station. Until the next time keep up the the excellent standard of food and service . Very best regards, MK
Very attentive staff, varied menu. A bit tight when sitting at the table .
The restaurant had a nice ambience and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The service was charming if a little haphazard at times. The food was a bit hit and miss. My colleagues really enjoyed theirs but my lamb cutlets and roast potatoes were over done although the sauce was delicious. Would recommend but suggest be careful what you order. I have been before and both the pizza and pasta were great.
Lovely restaurant with food and staff to match. Had such a nice menu I will be visiting again to sample more items.
Walked into a busy restaurant but had to wait a few minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there.
Was sat downstairs but was welcomed with the smell of toilet cleaner which was pretty off putting, after 5mins you couldn't notice it.
Food was ok but nothing special. We don't eat in London so everything seemed over priced.
Didn't fancy pay £3 for a cup of tea so got a coffee from Pret for 99p next door after we had finished.
This was a reunion for Xmas and we were off to the theatre in the afternoon. The staff were lovely and attentive and the service was really quick, which was just what we were after. The food was delicious, Tiramisu to die for. Literally at the bottom of the steps out of Charing Cross station so perfect location. Would definitely recommend
We dined on an early Saturday sitting but the restaurant was packed and though the service and food were okay (one person's order was late/forgotten?) the sardine-like queue inside the door pushing into the restaurant did add to the crowded feel of the place and made it harder to relax and enjoy the meal. For a restaurant at this level we did feel a little processed rather than looked after.
All very good nothing to complain about. Was a very good evening.
Relaxed, friendly - lovely atmosphere - great pizza!
We booked L'ulivo for a pre-theatre meal. It is a traditional Italian restaurant with reliable food. The service was good with plenty of waiting staff in attendance. Perhaps a special pre-theatre menu would have been good.
Superb staff, service atmosphere and excellent food. Not too busy, just busy enough for a great vibe.
Speedy service. Good food. Nice atmosphere
Friendly and helpful staff
Expectation were High, some more options for Vegetarian
I was very disappointed about the food! Pasta was very dry and tasteless. Very noisy environment that makes it impossible to have a conversation without shouting.
I had the lamb cutlets with chips, very expensive for small fries no veg and needed to ask for the sauce
Booked this place for a Book Club meet up that was also celebrating it's 1st birthday. We needed somewhere not too noisy where we could have a group of 10 people and be able to talk together and somewhere that wasn't too difficult to find. L'ulivo was in fact on the same street as our usual meeting spot! Having the space in the basement was great as it allowed us to break out a bit more if the group got larger but the music was also more muted here. The food was delicious and covered vegetarian and vegan diets and service was excellent. Booking was extremely easy online and they read all notes you provide so catered for the request of the basement space as well as a tomato allergy. None of us had ever been here before and did not know about it but all praised the venue. It has now become our regular Book Club meeting spot!
