Lucia Restaurant & Bar - Bernardus Lodge & Spa
The four-star restaurant has been named Zagat’s “Top Restaurant in Bay Area” and received Wine Spectator magazine’s “Grand Award” since 2001 for its wine cellar. The cellar houses 1,850 different wines and a total of more than 25,000 premium bottles, including 10,000 bottles from the Bernardus Winery & Vineyard near the resort.
New Year's Eve experience was nice, but very expensive.
We were seated in the enclosed patio area and it was very cold. It was a pretty room and the service was wonderful.
Would not dine again on a holiday - might be fine another evening in warmer weather.
Nice outdoor patio lunch on December 28! Attentive service and good food. Will be back.
One of the main courses we ordered was a pasta (no meat). at $45. It was served in a bowl and the serving size was very small and was extremely disappointing. Also, the gentleman as our waiter seemed like he wasn’t too thrilled being there and we didn’t feel comfortable w/ his service.
However, the restaurant itself was lovely. It was a beautiful room.
Very good food. Value wasn’t great though - paid $40 for a white truffle ricotta appetizer dish - my wife and I took a bite at same time and both started laughing, as it tasted exactly like store bought gnocchi in Mac and cheese sauce that we make for our 2 year old.
The best food in the Carmel Valley. Loved it so much, I went back for a second dinner this week. The chef is uber talented. There are also some gem values on the wine list too. Fantastic!
Lucia is well off the crowded path but definitely worth the drive (which is scenic, btw). Beautiful sophisticated dining room and even prettier outdoor dining spaces! Service top-notch. We have been here 4x; dinner first time was good, but subsequent 3 lunches have been even better. Hardly ever crowded (a real plus on weekends) and the food is healthy yet delicious, with very high quality. TIP: skip the biscuit (it's good) and have the even better Parker-Lusseau croissant! We love PL/Monterey pastries and Lucia is the first restaurant we've found to offer their superior Parisian-style croissant! Visitor parking to the left as you enter; fyi don't park in the marked "valet" spots. This has become one of our favs when visiting Monterey/Carmel - wonderful, relaxing change from the usual tourist-heavy crowds - upscale quality and service but without any pretentiousness or fuss.
Best eggs Benedict around. Great place for special moments to get more special.
Exceptional service and food. I highly recommend the fresh white truffle dishes especially the pasta. It’s something you will remember for a very long time.
Service and food was impeccable. Pricing realistic for quality.
Highly recommend trying
The service, atmosphere and surroundings were excellent. The food, however was not worth our time or money. Pasta was bland and al dente-to the point of needing a knife to cut; halibut was over salted and salmon was just ok. Bread (extra charge) seemed to be reheated. Very impressive and interesting wine list.
We had a great meal in the lovely atrium area. The server was nice and attentive but really added no insights of value. Fortunately we selected well. The fois gras was delicious, tagliatelle with truffles was fantastic and the smoked duck breast was amazing. My husband’s pork chop was good but paled in comparison to the other dishes. Overall, a terrific meal. We will return!
A lovely evening with delicious food and super service. It was a perfect evening!
Awesome!... fantastic dinner - soup with truffle shavings, filet steak was excellent... lobster risotto. Sat in a semi-enclosed patio next to a firepit. Great lighting and ambiance.. All was perfect and our server (can’t remember her name) was a pro.
Great place. Treated us right for our anniversary.
Wonderful ambiance with great service but meal was overpriced.
Consistently excellent in presention and follow through.
This was the first time I had been there after eating at Bernardus 25 years ago. Lunch was a sportsbar back then. Now it has the nuance of lunching either indoors or out. The lobby appointments are beautiful with fresh flowers to charm us.
One of the best meals I've had, and the service was perfect.
Fantastic service and great food options. Good recommendations for wine. We were treated specially for a special occasion.
Food choices are very creative and tasty. Service was above-and-beyond. They made a romantic birthday celebration that will long be remembered. Well worth the drive when down in the Carmel/Monterey area.
The foie gras and toast were both burnt. Sent toast back but should have sent the 29.00 puny piece of burnt liver back too, although it was raw in the middle. Quail and scallops were good.
Sitting under the arbor for lunch has to be one the most perfect spots in America. Very quiet and romantic. Great California menu and wines.
We had a lovely meal at Lucia and definitely recommend the restaurant (and the Bernardus Lodge). The food was delicious, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was phenomenal.
As always the food was delicious and the service was excellent. There was a bit of a bee problem eating outside and once I could not handle it any more, they graciously moved us inside and gave me glass of champagne without charge.
The setting is beautiful and the food delicious. For some reason service was below par this time. Usually it's exceptional. I highly recommend Lucia.
We stayed at their resort for our anniversary so we decided to give the restaurant a try. We are glad we did! The food was amazing and the service was superb. Dave was attentive and personable. We not only enjoy good food but the service really makes or breaks an evening. I am pregnant and asked for a mocktail and the bartender came up with a lovely concoction. The Caesar and corn chowder were delicious. My filet came out a little rare for my liking and Dave caught that right away. He took it back and brought me a new dish prepared perfectly. If we could give more than 5 stars we would!
We were promptly greeted by our server, Kerry, and he was both personable and attentive. Everything from the appetizer to the entrees to dessert was delicious and beautiful in presentation. The salmon and the halibut were both excellent. I look forward to visiting Lucia's again one day. Thank you!
Beautiful restaurant and magnificently prepared food. Dining or bar menus both available either in the restaurant or the bar.
Annually we visit Carmel and have had lunch outside many times over the years. In 2017, we could not eat outside because of the wasps. This year outside was great. However, service was slow.
The worst thing by far was the so-called Prawns on the menu. I know Prawns when I see them. These were very small and tasteless, exactly like the little shrimp I get at the grocery store. The texture was tough, too, just like recently thawed shrimp from Safeway but worse. Even the sauce was light orange like it had been watered down.
I might come back, but I won't be ordering Prawns!
Beautiful setting to enjoy fantastic food and wine.
Wonderful ambiance and excellent service and food. We are vegetarians and chef prepared a ravioli dish that was not on menu and that was magnificent.
If there was a rating more than Outstanding I'd give it. The entire evening was wonderful including the bartender.
Food and service were excellent! Best steak we have had in a long time.
The portions were way too small to call dinner and was expensive for portion size. Not a good value. The service was good and the flavor was good but we were hungry before we even left.
Johnny was an excellent and very professional server. We sat outdoors and the ambience was amazing. Highly recommend.
Nothing special 🤷🏻♂️
Gluten free requirements were honored easily. Dishes we thought were passé felt reinvigorated and were delicious. The star of the tasting menu was the quail, but every dish was fantastic, and the wine pairings were interesting and well done. Would definitely go back for a special occasion.
Great food and service - thank you for making the special birthday celebration dinner a great one!
Beautiful setting outside with umbrellas. Steak tartare, mahi mahi tartare and chicken sandwich were all hits. Service was good, definitely not rushed and the waiter was knowledgeable. This is a relaxed dining experience and very enjoyable. We look forward to another visit!
Beautiful setting, wonderful service, and delicious food. Lucia is always at the top of our list when traveling to Carmel Valley, and they did not disappoint on this visit.
