Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
We we’re first and only people dinnng at 4pm, seemed like a little bru-haha about where we were seated by hostess. Seemed to have all staff there, so not sure what problem was, but soon after we were taken care of by a nice young man who took very good care of us. All A+ after that.
After some sub optimal experiences at Luce and a few years time, we decide to give it another try. It is a pretty restaurant, but noisy. Our appetizers (Caesar salad, Mussels) were good with a generous portion of mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. However, the entrees were definitely sub-par. Our halibut was overcooked and the NY Strip steak was a little tough and not very tasty. Desserts--lemon sorbet and a chocolate cake with ice cream--were as expected/average. The wine--recommended by the sommelier--wasn't worth the $60.
Nothing was terribly wrong, but then again nothing was particularly special.
Great food, great experience. Had a wonderful time.
We have been there 3 times over last few months. Food and service were great each time and we kept coming back. We used to go there once every 5-6 months. We liked it but there are a lot other restaurants we like as well. Recently, it became our favorite Italian restaurant. Although it was good before, it seems like somewhat better food and service last few times. Keep up the good work.
We went for my wife’s 50th birthday celebration. While my wife and FIL thought their meals were very tasty, I was less impressed with the vegetarian risotto. My dish was on the bland side with the rice being more watery than creamy. I asked for the “expensive” mushrooms to be added To the carrots and spinach. I was expecting Cremini, oyster, or portobello, not white button mushrooms that were presented in my dish. I’ll be willing to give it another try but, if given a choice on Italian, would most likely choose elsewhere for the price and food quality.
So far the best Italian flavors right here in San Antonio
Excellent food! Fantastic atmosphere and attentive friendly knowledgeable staff. Joe and Alice are the BOMB. Great wine selection and fantastic prices. Seriously you must eat here you’ll be obsessed!
This was are third visit and the food and service was excellent.. we brought friends and they lv the food and location
Always great food and service.
This was a birthday dinner for my friend. Everyone had a great time.
Wonderful as usual
This was my second time here. I don’t know if they changed management or cooks, the food was subpar and not worth the cost.
Awesome food and service and easy parking area. Great place to meet friends for drinks r dinner
Wedding Anniversary and Birthday Celebration,
After I booked on OpenTable, I called the restaurant, because I wanted a particular menu for our celebrations. Spoke to Alice -she is wonderful. I told her the menu I wanted and she immediately had it personalized and printed.
When we arrived at Luce Ristorante E Enoteca, Alice greeted us and made us feel at home.
We had a very relaxing family celebration dinner.
Thank you Alice and staff.
Great wine & generous portion for the cost. The food was wonderful and there are diverse selections. Dessert was sublime!
Food is always good, never had a bad meal. Feel like I am back in Italy!
Love this place. Food is always great with excellent service. I can’t believe it took so long for us to eat here. Regret not trying this restaurant sooner.
Quiet lunch date. Gnocchi and lasagna were excellent!
Dinner at Luce was amazing! Chicken with sausage and risotto was amazing. My husband’s dinner was equally as good. He had sausage with meatball on a bed of penne. Perfect night. Great wine. we’ll be back!
As usual we enjoyed great food with friends. Food was well paced. Served hot. Our server, Atlanta, was great. Friendly and professional. Detail oriented.
And we are so pleased that the patio is pet friendly. Our dog loves the meatballs and chewing on the Rosso buck bone.
We missed being greeted by the owner/chef Joe!!!
Good neighborhood restaurant with large menu. Not every dish is a highlight but their gravy/sauce is exceptional, gnocchi is light and delicate, and the osso buco is tender and rich. Wine list is pretty extensive albeit slightly over-priced.
Food was good. Service was good. Not too noisy. Clean and decorative atmosphere. Would go back .
It was excellent as always. The food was superb and the server said they like us to have an exceptional dining experience and said they would make any dish however we wanted it. We could substitute things from other dishes if that is what we preferred. I can't remember our server's name but he was also a sommelier and he was excellent. This place is great for visiting because the noise level is always low. Always enjoy coming here. Thank you.
Something was a bit off with service this time at Luce. We usually receive exemplary service commensurate with the food, however, our server seemed uncomfortable and unsure throughout our evening.
We arrived relatively early (6:30pm) so the restaurant was not especially busy; I noticed our server had us and one other table to service. Our server walked by our table at least twice after we sat without acknowledging us, and once he did greet us, he rushed to get back to the kitchen area and missed the fact we had questions. He never explained the evening specials to us and continued to be in a hurry to get away each time he visited us.
On the positive side, our food was wonderfully prepared and plated; the kitchen even plated a shared meal separately for us, an appreciated service.
Easter with my kids. Joe the owner and his staff took great care of us!
Luce's restaurant has always been a family favorite. Joe (the owner) runs a first class operation. We always feel welcomed and comfortable. The food is expertly prepared and presented.
Excellent food and wine. Very authentic. Great ambiance. Will go again in a heartbeat next time I'm in San Antonio.
The main issue I had we’re all the entee choices were heavy. No simple clean entrees. Everything came with Risotto. The food that was served was tasty and quality.
Great experience as always. My "go-to" place for business meetings with one or two colleagues & for birthday lunches with friends. Always good, always cheerful staff, always warm welcome.
2 Birthday celebrations were great! The food and the Happy Hour was fantastic. Mario our waiter did an excellent job. Avery nice evening.
Food and service are always wonderful.
This is a wonderful little restaurant where the service was excellent as was the food! The wine selection is refined, the patio is spacious, and the attention to detail is visible in everything they do. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone asking for a great Italian experience.
The food was delicious and tasted fresh. The wine was very good, and the waiter offered to help us choose what would be best with our meals. The waiter was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. Food was out in a very fast, seeing as it was a slow Monday night. The restaurant ambiance is nice, clean, and comforting.
I enjoyed very much and looking forward to going back. I’ve heard about the restaurant for awhile and sorry it took me so long to try it out.
Luce was wonderful!!! Food, service, and ambiance were outstanding!!! Thank you for helping to make it a great date night.
We had a great meal and the best service we could ask for. Our server was always super friendly and came by often to make sure everything was OK.
We had the pizza and can't imagine any better pizza anywhere. I have also had the Italian Meatloaf here and it was perfect also.
We hit the Happy Hour and had the Happy Hour wine as well as the pizza so the value was the best you could hope for with this fantastic food and wine.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed. I had seen this place several times over the year and thought, "we should try it out"
When we got there I was really impressed with the ambiance and the decor of the place. The wine bottles (thousands, ok may hundreds but it sure looked like every wall was lined with them) it just make the experience all that better.
The food was fantastic and the waitress was over the top professional, friendly and very helpful in guiding us with suggestions. I love the outside patio and would like to have dinner out there when the weather is cooler and I hope to do this soon. I saw the bar area which if I lived closer would be my go to spot. If you want great food, great ambiance and great service this is the place.
Oh I forgot. I want to say that all food is made from scratch. Look if you go to Olive Garden that is not a true Italian place to eat as all their food is premade to get you in and out fast.
So if you come here, put that phone away, in fact turn it off. Talk to each other, take your time and enjoy the place. Eating and breaking bread is the best time to really wind down and enjoy each other and the moment.
Food was good. Wine was great.
Great service and delicious food
Pizza is the best.
We have always enjoyed the food and ambience at Luce. There's a great selection of food and wine to choose from. Matthew was our waiter and he gave us incredible service. We highly recommend!
