Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
This was our first visit but will definitely not be our last! We went for the Osso Bucco but enjoyed much more! The fresh halibut special paired with Osso Bucco was a luscious surf and turf! Our waiter, Ross, was friendly and knowledgeable about the food, wine, service, and history of the restaurant! It was a delightful dining experience on the covered patio!! We will most certainly return to discover more deliciousness!
Food very mediocre!!
Thanks for leaving this review, Suzie! We would love to hear more about your experience with us to help identify any problems that we may need to address if you could elaborate on this we would love to help.
Have been there for lunch many times; always good.
Was looking for place to take a few colleagues for Italian food. Reviews looked good so figured we would give it a try. Wow is all I can say. The menu had so many options didn't know where to start. All of the food was great - pizza appetizer, meatballs and sausage pinwheel were amazing. Chicken Scarpariello with vegetable risotto was off the hook!!! As a New Yorker I have high standards and this place knocked it out of the park!!! Will be back in town in December - cant wait to dine there again
Phenomenal venue with this eatery. Our server, Kailey, was on top of her game. The martinis were icy, appetizers scrumptious and the food was fabulous. They have outdoor seating for the fall weather. Kudos to Joe! Great job bringing some ambiance and class to a San Antonio stop for good food with excellent service.
Went for their fabulous happy hour which is in my opinion the best in town! Great food and great service!
The service and food was outstanding. I had the snapper with black ink squid orzo and it was outstanding. They allowed us to bring in a birthday cake since we were celebrating a birthday and even provided the candle and plates and dessert forks. It is a very quiet setting making it easy to catch up with friends.
Really disappointed in the menu. Nothing on the lighter side. Big portions though. But it will be a long ie before we go back.
Everything was delicious. My only complaint was that the pesto sauce was very wayery and bland. The special halibut was excellent. Tje rice balls were excellent.
Very creative and well execute menu! Only reco would be to cut down on the salt in the otherwise impeccable grilled salmon over hummus kitchen were very willing to accommodate and he loved it!
Joe has a fantastic restaurant. Go and eat at Luce
Best place in town for lunch and excellent service!
We love Luce and had our favorite waiter - Alex in the bar area. Food was wonderful and Alex gave us great service as usual. We only come once or twice a year as we live in Montana and just relatives in San Antonio. Luce is a great little jewel for Italian food.
The ownership is unbelievable!! Love this place!
Always a fine dining experience. Thanks Joe and the gang!
Too expensive for the quality of the food. A $30 dollar dish with better flavor can be found elsewhere for $20 or less. The wine super expensive. Found the day after the entire bottle of the wine I ordered for $12 and I paid $16 for the quartino.
We sat in the bar area a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine and pizza and people watch... Everyone was very friendly , we will go back
Dinner was perfect. The waiter was personable, accommodating, attentive and happy. The food was delicious with the portions being more than expected. To top off the experience, the chocolate martini for dessert was fantastic.
Dinner for our family of 12 was to celebrate a 48th wedding anniversary. We were in a private room that worked out very well since we had a 4ur old and 7yr old in the party. Noise level was very low, service from Kaili(sp) was excellent. Food was amazing with the exception of the cannoli for dessert which was too lemony. Having been raised in northern NJ with a 1st generation Italian Mom, I tend to be very picky with my Italian food.
We frequently visit Luce because the food and the people are both enjoyable.
It was the first time for all of us to eat at Luce and it was a total hit with the group. We all ordered off the culinaria menu, there were so many choices that everyone found something that they loved! We will definitely be back.
Great menu selection, staff very friendly and open, we will be back
We we’re first and only people dinnng at 4pm, seemed like a little bru-haha about where we were seated by hostess. Seemed to have all staff there, so not sure what problem was, but soon after we were taken care of by a nice young man who took very good care of us. All A+ after that.
After some sub optimal experiences at Luce and a few years time, we decide to give it another try. It is a pretty restaurant, but noisy. Our appetizers (Caesar salad, Mussels) were good with a generous portion of mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. However, the entrees were definitely sub-par. Our halibut was overcooked and the NY Strip steak was a little tough and not very tasty. Desserts--lemon sorbet and a chocolate cake with ice cream--were as expected/average. The wine--recommended by the sommelier--wasn't worth the $60.
Nothing was terribly wrong, but then again nothing was particularly special.
Great food, great experience. Had a wonderful time.
We have been there 3 times over last few months. Food and service were great each time and we kept coming back. We used to go there once every 5-6 months. We liked it but there are a lot other restaurants we like as well. Recently, it became our favorite Italian restaurant. Although it was good before, it seems like somewhat better food and service last few times. Keep up the good work.
We went for my wife’s 50th birthday celebration. While my wife and FIL thought their meals were very tasty, I was less impressed with the vegetarian risotto. My dish was on the bland side with the rice being more watery than creamy. I asked for the “expensive” mushrooms to be added To the carrots and spinach. I was expecting Cremini, oyster, or portobello, not white button mushrooms that were presented in my dish. I’ll be willing to give it another try but, if given a choice on Italian, would most likely choose elsewhere for the price and food quality.
So far the best Italian flavors right here in San Antonio
Excellent food! Fantastic atmosphere and attentive friendly knowledgeable staff. Joe and Alice are the BOMB. Great wine selection and fantastic prices. Seriously you must eat here you’ll be obsessed!
This was are third visit and the food and service was excellent.. we brought friends and they lv the food and location
Always great food and service.
This was a birthday dinner for my friend. Everyone had a great time.
Wonderful as usual
This was my second time here. I don’t know if they changed management or cooks, the food was subpar and not worth the cost.
Awesome food and service and easy parking area. Great place to meet friends for drinks r dinner
Wedding Anniversary and Birthday Celebration,
After I booked on OpenTable, I called the restaurant, because I wanted a particular menu for our celebrations. Spoke to Alice -she is wonderful. I told her the menu I wanted and she immediately had it personalized and printed.
When we arrived at Luce Ristorante E Enoteca, Alice greeted us and made us feel at home.
We had a very relaxing family celebration dinner.
Thank you Alice and staff.
Great wine & generous portion for the cost. The food was wonderful and there are diverse selections. Dessert was sublime!
Food is always good, never had a bad meal. Feel like I am back in Italy!
Love this place. Food is always great with excellent service. I can’t believe it took so long for us to eat here. Regret not trying this restaurant sooner.
Quiet lunch date. Gnocchi and lasagna were excellent!
