Lucca North End Ratings and Reviews
This was my third visit and I’ll be back again for sure! Food and service were outstanding. Sea scallops with chestnut and bacon risotto were out of this world! Didn’t take a picture of our appetizer because we ate it so quickly. Definitely try the prosciutto with burrata, red wine marinated figs, and rosemary honey!
Solid North End option for general Italian-American food. My fiancee had the Baked Orecchiette which was excellent. I was brought the wrong dish originally (miscommunication with the waiter, not his fault) and when the correct order (Salmon) arrived it was seriously under-cooked. They did get the order right in the end (and it was good) and comp'ed my meal but I was a bit disappointed due to the wait and mis-timing with the other meal.
I was in Boston for a wedding and sought out a North End dining experience. Lucca was recommended by hotel concierge and was easy to get a same day reservation. The service and food was simply outstanding. Had the parpadelle pasta, beet salad and Brussels sprouts which were all amazing. Also the waiter pointed us to a wonderful super Tuscan red wine that was reasonably priced. Would definitely go back!!!
Delicious! Especially the gnocchi appetizer. Wine was great. They have a kids menu which was great. We had a little mishap where we ordered an adult version of the cheese ravioli for a teenager and they gave us the kids version (same portion) in a larger plate. It was a little sneaky but quickly resolved once we told our waiter. One suggestion would be to have more variety in the fresh bread. Focaccia was good but a little more variety would be best at such an upscale restaurant. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend Luca.
Food was good, although not the best in the No End. Pork was moist and tender and beans were creamy. Server was very good, although host was rude when my companion was looking for a restroom (only 1?). Our server directed her to a private room and the host rudely sent her away.
The food was fantastic!! We are of Italian descent, so we are fairly critical of Italian restaurants. The dress was smart casual, atmosphere was lively. They have an extensive wine menu. They also offered a kids menu, which worked perfectly for my 8 & 10 year old girls. Highly recommend for families looking for an upscale meal with their picky kids.
Lucca has a tendency to overcook fish. I thought it was just me but my friend had a very cooked piece of fish that she could barely finish. We were also 15 min early on our reservation so they wouldn't seat us. We ended up sitting at a high top next to four very drunk and rude people. The waitress was very nice but I don't think I'll be going back there again. It's incredibly expensive and if the foods not that good and you can't be seated and have to deal with obnoxious people at 8PM... what's the point in paying such a high price?
My first visit to Lucca and absolutely loved it - the food and atmosphere were wonderful - we all especially loved the gnocchi with short rib appetizer! We had a chance to meet the owner Sean before our dinner and he was very welcoming - service was very good even though there was a large party in at the same time. We will definitely be back!
It starts out with fabulous focaccia and a basil spread. Try not to fill up on it. It's so flavorful it's hard not to. We skipped appetizers and ordered dinner only. The house-made rigatoni was delicious and the wild boar and roasted vegetable sauce was delicious. The lambchops were flavorful and well-prepared. The accompanying vegetables were excellent - haricots verts, ceci, tomatoes. The table next to us was unhappy that their appetizer arrived with their meals. The waitstaff dealt with it professionally and well. We love Lucca and look forward to a return visit.
Had a great time at Lucca! First time eating in the North End of Boston. We are from a large Italian upstate New York community so we had high expectations and Lucca met them! Looking forward to visiting Lucca again in the future. Five stars and thumbs way up!
I did not care for the taste of the food as the dish I had was overwhelmed with fennel and salt. My dinner companions equally expressed that their food was mediocre at best. It took a while to be seated even with a reservation. Once seated it was almost 40mins for our appetizers to arrive. Our waitress was new; however she was pleasant and trying her best. There was a hair in one of our appetizer dishes. I was extremely polite about it as I understand that happens from time to time. Unfortunately, the waitress did not know better to ask if we wanted a replacement and she did not take the item off the bill. There are better dining options in Boston.
