Only criticism was the music was too loud later in the evening. It was ok earlier, but at some point the music was turned up.
Saw this restaurant featured on the Food Network and made the 1.5 hour trip to Edmonton to try it out. It was worth the drive! The food was amazing and the bananas foster was the cherry on top! I am Celiac and there were plenty of gluten-free choices for me.
I lived in Florida for 2 years and the taste of the food brought me back to Florida for an evening. Service was great and I. Ant wait to go back again. Maybe for my birthday in January
Food and service was a little slow. Even when we needed to leave it took about 30 minutes to be able to get our bill and pay. Food was okay, but a touch bland. I’d give it another shot but it was very mediocre.
We took friends there last week and had the worst service imaginable, pretty much everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong, and despite being told numerous times that the owner was in the restaurant, our ongoing awful experience was basically ignored by all the staff, including the owner. The night basically went like this: server takes our order (food and drinks) and before leaving the table asks if we want anything else to drink, despite literally having just taken the drink order. Drinks eventually arrive, and are dumped into my friends lap - huge mess that only ever partially gets cleaned up. His clothes ruined. Appetizers we did not order attempt to be served. Appetizer we did order eventually served and server attempts to clear the plate after only a few bites. Server spends the evening interrupting with bizarre questions, like if we'd like a single spoon that no one has used cleared from the table. Server promises entrees will be right out. Half an hour later entrees are served. Half way through server says the owner has told her she can offer us all free dessert as compensation for spilled drinks. We're not having dessert so I ask for the service failure to be resolved some other way. Server says she has to ask the owner what she's allowed to do (really???). Server returns and offers either one drink to be removed from the bill, one entree or a free dessert. Shocking, given the ongoing terrible service. Miraculously the server manages to successfully remove the entree from the bill (literally the LEAST they could have done) but charges us for the two appetizers we never ordered or ate. All while the owner sat a few tables away not at all interested in even acknowledging all the things that had gone horribly wrong or the fact that my friend had to sit there is soaking wet clothes and said clothes are ruined. Don't waste your time or money here.
I love this restaurant, it's unique, and one of the best in the city. The food is always amazing, and our server was wonderful, but the serve time was quite terrible. We had reservations for 5:30 and didn't leave until shortly after 8:00. Hopefully this isn't a new (slow eating) trend, and just a staffing problem will be sorted out next time.
My husband and I took our cousin to try out their food, this was the first time we had
ever tried Louisiana Creole cuisine. Our appetizers were Creole Mussels and the Fresh Oysters on a half shell and they were amazing. My husband had the Steamboat Jambalaya, I had the Salmon-Shrimp- Crawfish Boudin and my cousin had the Southern Fried Chicken. Each dish was just as delicious as the other. For dessert my husband and I shared the Banana Foster and it was sinfully delishes and I would have it again and again. My cousin had the Bread Pudding and we will be back, good food and great service.
The food was fairly expensive, quite delicious, and came in large portions. Although I would rather have a bit smaller portions at a lower cost so that we could simply finish our meals rather than lug around take-out containers. If I want left-overs I'll order something to go. The service wasn't the best or fastest.
Good date night.
Hadn’t been here in years and I still love the food. Plan to go back soon.
Still fun and tasty dishes. We hadn’t been here for several years but thought we’d go there because it is close to the new Allard Theatre at MacEwan University. Service was quick and friendly and the dishes generous and tasty. We’ll be back.
Food is exceptional. Staff very professional and accommodating. Great atmosphere.
AL is THE MAN: Y'all need to give him a raise. Terrific service, prompt and attentive but not overbearing/intrusive. Had a special request (we took clients to LP to celebrate their recent home purchase, and I asked Al if he could bring out something special, and include the house keys as a part of the experience, and he brought flutes of prosecco and a sparkler along with dessert, and had the keys arranged on the platter that was brought out). Terrific food. Amazing cocktails (Boston Sour!! wow). Will definitely be coming back soon.
I have never liked black beans but the way Louisiana Purchase does them in the appetizer DEM BONES is delicious. They are my favorite!
I like this restaurant and will return. Pick a non hockey game night. At a 6:45 reservation, had to wait 10 min to get seated. Were out of the feature main and our choice of appi’. Server knew little about serving in general, no help in recommendations and nothing about wine serving, hoping this was her first day? Bread pudding is the best in Edmonton. $300 for 4 people is not cheap, we expect more.
Took my husband there for his birthday. Servers were friendly, place was great, great decor. Clean.
Food was very good and large servings! Good value!
I have been enjoying lunch at LP for more than 20 years. There have been menu changes along the way and I miss some old favourites. Pleasant staff and good music.
It is nice to get to sit outside in summer.
The food was unbelievable and so was the service. I would recommend anyone to go here and try the food. Can’t wait to go back again
I have been going to Louisiana Purchase for 30 years and I never had a bad experience there. Food is amazing, staff is awesome, location and restaurant have a great atmosphere! One of my favourite restaurants anywhere in the world! And it’s right here in Edmonton!!!
Out with friends. Food was great. Service was great.
First time here with a friend for a catch-up evening was great. We could hear each other and the food was very good. I loved the voodoo martini and save room for the bread pudding.
Overall we enjoyed our experience at Lousiana Purchase. The restaurant is quite dark but not very noisy. The food prices are moderate although the portions are generous. I ordered the Cherry cola ribs which was delicious although the ribs are served on top of wedge fries which makes the fries soggy if not eaten quickly. Louisiana Purchase is good value for your money.
Close your eyes and you can imagine Bourbon Street is just outside. Great ambience, extraordinary service, and a wonderful Cajun and Creole menu.
Fabulous as always. It was our 30th wedding anniversary. Food was fantastic. My husband was not fussy in the snapper but everything else was outstanding
We booked here September 23rd for our anniversary while visiting Edmonton. I’m still thinking about our meal. The staff was so friendly. The food was so flavorful. And space itself was very comfortable and cozy. I only wish they had a location in Calgary.
Great meal. Good service. Best bread pudding since my mom
The chef special was DELICIOUS!! This is the second time I’ve ordered the special and both times they were amazing!
We had a great meal and a nice evening. The only thing that could be improve was the service was to fast to remove dishes and bring the bill a little more time to enjoy the evening would have been great.
The server was excellent just a little to attentive.
We started with the swampstick (alligator) which was actually very tasty! Even better than my crab cakes! I ordered the crab cakes which were ok should have listened to other reviews, my boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles which were outstanding! We are definitely coming back because I want more chicken and waffles lol. Our waitress was amazing, super knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. I also ordered pecan pie for dessert which was tasty but would have been perfect warmed up!
Have been here several times now, both with family and just me and my wife. Service is always good, as well as the food.
We’ve been going to Louisiana Purchase since it opened and we’ve rarely had a less than wonderful experience. The staff have always been excellent and there are really only a few tables we’d prefer to avoid. The pricing has increased over the years but so has everyone else’s. Great comfort food spot for romance or business.
Great spot for a date night. Tasty food and good service.
Great food, great service!
The lighting is a little dim
We came here for a dinner out with my family. The food was amazing, everyone loved their meals. The service was a little slow, but the food and atmosphere more then made up for the slower service.
I was disappointed that at a 7pm reservation the restaurant was already out of an appetizer. The one reason which got me there in the first place.
Trainee was defiantly a trainee.
One person asked for more coffee, she filled up the one cup and walked away, didn’t ask anyone else if they wanted more coffee.
Overall everything was great!!
Had an great anniversary meal with my wife. She had been wanting to go to Louisiana Purchase for a couple years and it did not disappoint. I would recommend eating here the food was great, the atmosphere was great and the service was great.
Upon arrival, we were seated back by the washrooms even though I had reserved the table well in advance and the restaurant was only half full. We were bumped several times throughout the meal because of the unfortunate seating. Most of the meal was prepared to the typical high standards but the ribs seemed very dry compared to their usual quality. This was extremely disappointing as we convinced friends to join us as they had never eaten there and recommended that particular dish.
As always as wonderful dining experience we all enjoyed it. You will not go hungry
Food and service was great. I but pricy for the portions
Weekend getaway with husband. Wanted to try something new. Really enjoyed our experience. Staff was lovely. Cornbread is a must. Would go again :)
