Louisiana Purchase Downtown
Cajun and Creole cuisine and southern hospitality in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere.
Food and service was very good, loved the catfish
Fantastic staff, good food, nice ambience.
Great food, service ... a wonderful experience... we will be back!
Great location, great service & great food
Great southern cajun food and the service was 2nd to none. Need more service like this in all restaurants
This was an excellent meal for a birthday dinner. Great value in the chefs special. Excellent staff - - server sang happy birthday! Excellent dessert 🍰
server was excellant the food was tasty and plenty. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful food and service as always!
Lots of fun, very comfortable and personal. Excellent. The staff and ownership obviously understands that there are lots of places to dine and as such take very good care of you. Thank-you.
One of my favourite places. Food is good, choices are great. Service was efficient and professional and out server was quite attentive. Loved lunch. Always recommends LP to people. Enjoyable experience
From the moment we walked in the door we were treated with such attentiveness! The staff really try to make you feel welcome and are interested in who you are! Now there are no words that can adequately describe the satisfaction that we felt with the food! The food was jam pack with delicious flavours and there was such a variety to choose from, that we will definitely be coming back to continue our way through the menu! This place is a gem and I love that it is locally owned. If you haven’t tried this place, it’s a must!
It was amazing from start to finish!!
The only comment I would have for improvement would be to set the thermostat a little higher. It was a bit on the cool side, which detracted a bit from my comfort.
Our service was exceptional. Our waitress was a people person. She made us all feel like we were her number one priority and wanted our evening to be special. The food was good, but not anything that would make me want to go back. The drinks were all awesome though and that would bring me back. We tried 4 specialty cocktails and we all loved each one.
Food was excellent & service was good however server could have been bit better. She was told occasion was for a Bday & never offered free piece of cake wt candle or anything? Dinner for 2 wt drinks $200+. We come to LP often & usually enjoy the food & atmosphere...
Had a great evening. Food was great service fantastic
Service was stellar from the moment we checked in to the time we paid the bill. The food was delicious and the portions were surprisingly large. My only issue was that everything on the menu looked equally enticing, which made choosing an entree a difficult decision. A little on the pricey side, but I can’t say it wasn’t worth it. Will go back.
They took very good care of us. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt.
First time at LP. They called a couple days before our reservation to say there was a private event starting at 8:00 pm. Our reservation was for 6:00 so no need to change the reservation. Group of 4. Seated immediately and the restaurant was pretty much full to capacity. Had a quiet table as requested. Appetizers, drinks and meals were very good. Service was good but not great. Might have been due to the staff having to hustle patrons out and set up prior to the private event starting. Food and drink prices were a bit high I thought. Overall, a good experience and we would go back.
My second time going and I loved it again. Food is always delicious. I ordered the corn bread, seafood gumbo, sausage jambalaya and the chicken and waffles. All are a must try!!! Service was awesome. Even the manager came around to check on us. I would definitely go back and eat some more!!!
We’ve eaten here many times and every dish has been delicious.
Louisiana Purchase offers a good selection of Cajun cuisine with a very attentive and accommodating staff.
The seafood gumbo was excellent, as were the crab cakes and fried green tomatoes.
The menu contains many more interesting items I hope to try out in the future.
Great food, great location. The fried chicken was cooked beautifully and it was the BEST fried chicken I have ever had. The pecan breaded brie, too good to talk. WORTH IT!!!!
Great food and service, reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, good music but not too loud. Overall a good place to go for dinner.
Only criticism was the music was too loud later in the evening. It was ok earlier, but at some point the music was turned up.
Saw this restaurant featured on the Food Network and made the 1.5 hour trip to Edmonton to try it out. It was worth the drive! The food was amazing and the bananas foster was the cherry on top! I am Celiac and there were plenty of gluten-free choices for me.
I lived in Florida for 2 years and the taste of the food brought me back to Florida for an evening. Service was great and I. Ant wait to go back again. Maybe for my birthday in January
Food and service was a little slow. Even when we needed to leave it took about 30 minutes to be able to get our bill and pay. Food was okay, but a touch bland. I’d give it another shot but it was very mediocre.
We took friends there last week and had the worst service imaginable, pretty much everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong, and despite being told numerous times that the owner was in the restaurant, our ongoing awful experience was basically ignored by all the staff, including the owner. The night basically went like this: server takes our order (food and drinks) and before leaving the table asks if we want anything else to drink, despite literally having just taken the drink order. Drinks eventually arrive, and are dumped into my friends lap - huge mess that only ever partially gets cleaned up. His clothes ruined. Appetizers we did not order attempt to be served. Appetizer we did order eventually served and server attempts to clear the plate after only a few bites. Server spends the evening interrupting with bizarre questions, like if we'd like a single spoon that no one has used cleared from the table. Server promises entrees will be right out. Half an hour later entrees are served. Half way through server says the owner has told her she can offer us all free dessert as compensation for spilled drinks. We're not having dessert so I ask for the service failure to be resolved some other way. Server says she has to ask the owner what she's allowed to do (really???). Server returns and offers either one drink to be removed from the bill, one entree or a free dessert. Shocking, given the ongoing terrible service. Miraculously the server manages to successfully remove the entree from the bill (literally the LEAST they could have done) but charges us for the two appetizers we never ordered or ate. All while the owner sat a few tables away not at all interested in even acknowledging all the things that had gone horribly wrong or the fact that my friend had to sit there is soaking wet clothes and said clothes are ruined. Don't waste your time or money here.
I love this restaurant, it's unique, and one of the best in the city. The food is always amazing, and our server was wonderful, but the serve time was quite terrible. We had reservations for 5:30 and didn't leave until shortly after 8:00. Hopefully this isn't a new (slow eating) trend, and just a staffing problem will be sorted out next time.
My husband and I took our cousin to try out their food, this was the first time we had
ever tried Louisiana Creole cuisine. Our appetizers were Creole Mussels and the Fresh Oysters on a half shell and they were amazing. My husband had the Steamboat Jambalaya, I had the Salmon-Shrimp- Crawfish Boudin and my cousin had the Southern Fried Chicken. Each dish was just as delicious as the other. For dessert my husband and I shared the Banana Foster and it was sinfully delishes and I would have it again and again. My cousin had the Bread Pudding and we will be back, good food and great service.
The food was fairly expensive, quite delicious, and came in large portions. Although I would rather have a bit smaller portions at a lower cost so that we could simply finish our meals rather than lug around take-out containers. If I want left-overs I'll order something to go. The service wasn't the best or fastest.
Good date night.
Hadn’t been here in years and I still love the food. Plan to go back soon.
Still fun and tasty dishes. We hadn’t been here for several years but thought we’d go there because it is close to the new Allard Theatre at MacEwan University. Service was quick and friendly and the dishes generous and tasty. We’ll be back.
Food is exceptional. Staff very professional and accommodating. Great atmosphere.
AL is THE MAN: Y'all need to give him a raise. Terrific service, prompt and attentive but not overbearing/intrusive. Had a special request (we took clients to LP to celebrate their recent home purchase, and I asked Al if he could bring out something special, and include the house keys as a part of the experience, and he brought flutes of prosecco and a sparkler along with dessert, and had the keys arranged on the platter that was brought out). Terrific food. Amazing cocktails (Boston Sour!! wow). Will definitely be coming back soon.
I have never liked black beans but the way Louisiana Purchase does them in the appetizer DEM BONES is delicious. They are my favorite!
I like this restaurant and will return. Pick a non hockey game night. At a 6:45 reservation, had to wait 10 min to get seated. Were out of the feature main and our choice of appi’. Server knew little about serving in general, no help in recommendations and nothing about wine serving, hoping this was her first day? Bread pudding is the best in Edmonton. $300 for 4 people is not cheap, we expect more.
Took my husband there for his birthday. Servers were friendly, place was great, great decor. Clean.
Food was very good and large servings! Good value!
