Louisiana Purchase Downtown
Cajun and Creole cuisine and southern hospitality in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere.
Went there for the first time for our 28th anniversary. Very good food with large portions. We were so stuffed. The Managment and staff were very accommodating with us on our special date. We even got a couple of surprises. 😃
As always, Louissianna does not disappoint. We've been visiting this restaurant for almost 30 years and the food continues to be outstanding. Lots of great gluten-free options too.
Food was amazing, service was very good. I will be back.
The food and the atmosphere were excellent as we enjoyed our meal before venturing out to the Elton John concert. It was especially nice to try dishes that are not "regular" that every other restaurant serves. The quality of the meal was tremendous and the hosts and service were top notch. We will definitely be back.
Everyone in my family had a wonderful meal! I would definitely come back if I’m at Roger’s Place again.
I never know what to say here but I will do my best. On arrival we were greeted at the door by two friendly people and shown to a very nice table in the corner. My daughter and I spent a very enjoyed hour plus. The food was great and the service was friendly and non intrusive. The only thing that wasn't so great was the food was so good and plentiful that there was no room for dessert.
Always great food and service
It’s like eating at grandma’s - warm and inviting! The crab cakes were wonderful, the lobster bisque was rich and creamy, the boudin absolutely can’t be beaten! And of course the bread pudding is a must! Highly recommended!
Great as always
Very good food and service. Atmosphere and music are great!
Lovely! Food was delicious (especially the bread pudding) and would highly recommend for a nice evening out. A solid standard in YEG. Also excellent service.
Absolutely fantastic! Our server was awesome, the drinks and food were delicious. The crab cakes, skewers, catfish, chicken n’waffles, and jambalaya did not disappoint. Everything was full of wonderful flavours. And even if you don’t think there is enough room for dessert, go for the bananas foster!
It was our 10 year anniversary. dinner was great, service was very good.
We’ve never been to Louisiana Purchase before. The waitress was excellent - probably the best service I’ve ever had. The pickle gin Caesar was also the best Caesar I’ve ever had. Amazing! I loved the tv screen with pictures of the food since we’d never been before. Very helpful for choosing a dish. The food portions were very generous. I took more than half my Jambalaya home. I love spicy food and I found the Jambalaya to be a little spicy but there are lots of things on the menu that aren’t as spicy. We’ll be back!
Wasn’t impressed at all. In my opinion it was very plain for a taste of Louisiana.
Great place. Been coming here for years! Good food, fantastic service, great cocktails! I always bring friends from out of town here to get some more than decent Cajun eats. I highly recommend the crab cakes and the fried green tomatoes!
Great service, great food, great patio dining-- thank you for an incredible lunch-hour experience, quick, tasty and reasonably priced.
The staff were the best, always checking to make sure we were happy, the lovely waitress was supper nice and treated us so well... . The food was some of the best we have had in a long time, just the right amount to ensure we had desert... lol I would recommend this to all my friends and we will be back to try more on the menu.... thank you for a super meal
Great meal, great service. Place was quiet on a Sunday night, but we had a great time.
This is our favorite "go to" place in edmonton. Its unique, has great service and terrific food!
Food is wonderful, excellent service and nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back as we were too full for dessert :)
Love this place, always a favorite!
Wonderful food and service was great. Will be back!
Friendly prompt service. Food was nothing special and the price point was quite high. The shrimp appie tasted like heavily battered shrimp from a cheap Chinese buffet, with 6 shrimps for approx $15 if I remember correctly. Entrees were good and while filling, really nothing to write home about especially for the price.
Food was tasty but temperature of food was cool.
We have been to this restaurant several times and we will most certainly return. Always great food with impressive staff who make you feel at home. They obviously have a consistent business practice as they have been in the downtown area for some time and reviews are always outstanding.
Keep it up!
Amazing experience, we order a lot of food as we had to try lots of different flavours, not one dish dissapointed.
Was a little pricey but we would keep it as a special occasion restaurant.
Father’s Day - it was pretty delicious for our first time at this restaurant. I would recommend it to others
Cozy little restaurant in downtown Edmonton. Our group of 9 all enjoyed their meals. Real comfort food, with options that suited everyone (no spice! Lots of spice! Vegan! )Though our server worked hard and was very professional and friendly, we waited awhile for drinks, then appys, etc. as she seemed to be alone and the restaurant was 2/3 full (not her fault by any means).
Everyone in our group remarked how tasty their food was and how they would absolutely return. Not a bargain, but we didn’t begrudge them the cost as the food delivered on quality and taste.
Food was delicious. The swampsticks are definitely a must try. Our server was very helpful and super friendly. Would definitely recommend this experience.
Great food and great service. Definitely recommending this restaurant to friends and family for a great meal.
We went on a Sunday afternoon. It was great. Maybe 3-4 other tables so it was quiet. Great music playing in the background. Food is pricey but you get what pay for. It was delicious. Highly recommend checking it out.
We have been going to the Louisiana Purchase since it opened and it never fails to be fantastic. We brought two other couples who had never been there and they raved about how good the food was! If you want great food this is the place to go.
My husbands 60th birthday dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and the food was delicious. Recommend it to anyone.
Good food, great service. We had crabs cakes and fried green tomatoes delish. Cornbread was dry and bland. A bit noisy but the good music helped drowned out the conversations around us. Love the Loup Garou.
Overall was a great evening. The table for 4 was actually (very) crowded especially when ordering drinks, meals and side dishes. The square table shout be for 3 or less people.
Louisiana Purchase is a hidden gem I highly recommend. We had a birthday party for a medium sized group here. Book in advance as space is hard to find for a larger group. The ambiance was great, music of New Orleans played in the background, but it wasn't too loud. The food here is off the hook!!! My friends were never here and all of them raved about it after. In particular we loved the alligator skewer, Bon Ton Poulet, Southern Fried Chicken and the seafood pasta. Service was great, staff were friendly and the kitchen staff even entertained a last minute request for a second slice of to die for melba cheesecake right as they were about to close. The cheesecake is 'plate licking good'!
Very good dinner for 7 of us, excellent service, huge portions, this place never disappoints :)
The swampstick was delicious but beyond that the food was quite mediocre. I had the chicken and waffles and my fried chicken wasn't even pieces of chicken like you usually get, it was just a flat breast that was overdone so it was dry and not very crispy. Everything was extremely over-peppered as well so for the slaw and the gravy you mainly just tasted pepper which altered the taste of the rest of the food. On top of all that, the plate cost $30 which is a very poor value for chicken and waffles. The place gets very loud quite quickly but that doesn't bother me as it is a small dining area so I expect that to happen. The decor and lighting are all quite dark so it is a sombre experience. We won't be returning.
Good food and lovely atmosphere. Went with coworkers and we all enjoyed it
