This is the second time visiting Lou and Mickey’s for dinner. It was absolutely delicious, we have told everyone about the fabulous location, the amazing staff, and of course the outstanding food. We planned our second trip to SD around eating at this restaurant. And the second time was even better than the first! We tried other restaurants while visiting and nothing compares to the steaks they serve here, not even the more expensive steakhouses. We will most definitely come back again!
Restaurant was not busy but there were a few VERY drunk and noisy guys at the bar and a wedding going on in the private room of the restaurant. One or two people from the wedding were shouting and obnoxious.
The management seemed not concerned about either of these disruptions.
The food was good with the exception that my steak was quite rare even when ordered medium well!
We had an 8pm reservation, ordered one bottle of wine and an after dinner drink but we're told at 9.40pm (restaurant closed at 10pm) that the bar was closed when we tried to order a refill!
All around for a meal for two costing over $300 we were disappointed.
Terrible food, okay service
Great ambiance, excellent food and service. Speciality cocktails were great. I recommend the Smoking Gun!
Three out of four had a very good experience and one was terrible. Three good were steaks one bad was seafood.
Attentive service, comfortable atmosphere, well prepared food.
Did not receive the steak that I ordered. When a new steak was presented, it was served on a skillet, and raw/rare. Additionally, the server "challenged" what was originally ordered. I always order the same steak, so no mistake there. Finally, we were celebrating a birthday (as noted in the reservation). We had to "mention" to the server who once again seemed perturbed at our request. Disappointed.
Loved the linguine with clams! Great wines! Our whole party enjoyed their dishes!
The food is very good here - the steaks are cooked perfectly, and there is a selection for all. However, service was very lacking. Nice, classic ambiance.
I was here once before years ago and it was good. This time service was very slow and the fish which three of us had was overcooked.
Very good steak - calamari appetizer average. Tahini broccolini side average.
Service was awesome and the food was absolutely amazing!!
The 30 day aged ribeye was excellent and the calamari was also good with a little heat.
Service and atmosphere were everything and more than we could have asked for. Arthenos carried himself in a manner that was professional which made our experiance even better.
It's a touristy place and the location, across from the convention center, is convenient for visitors. However, the food was truly marginal at best. The soup was just warm, the steak and lobster were the same. The service was equally perfunctory. In short, this spot was 'ok' but hardly a destination to be sought after or worth any extra effort.
Great food and service
Really good steak and sides!
Such an amazing place.
We had a drink at the bar before supper. Bit busy so it was a bit of a challenge to get a second drink.
We then were seated.
I had the sea bass and husband had filet mignon. Both were superb. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely return next time in town.
My husband and I are from out of town and we decided to come here for lunch. Absolutely amazing. We both had the rib eye, salad and it was just delicious. When we come back to San Diego, we will definitely be coming back and we will tell all of our friends.
The scalloped potatoes needed a bit more favor so did my Cajun steak.. We were there to celebrate my birthday and we were never asked if we were there for a special occasion.. Overall, it was good
Excellent as always.
Not unless the "prime" Steaks where more tender and flavorful. Was not impressed.
We came for Valentines Day and ran a bit late for our reservation, but the hostess was very accommodating. The four course meal was good.
Not a bad night, unfortunately they ran out of a bunch of items on the menu, being Valentine's night and a later reservation had a little to do with that, the restaurant comped half the bill! Half! Incredible deal
It was okay, there was no desserts left so sad
It was Valentine’s Day and this place sucked! Management, wait staff, and kitchen were ill equipped to handle the volume of reservations and walk-in traffic. DO NOT COME HERE!! I hate writing negative reviews but this the worst “high-end” restaurant in all of downtown San Diego. Just save the effort and go to Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris unless you want to wait 45 mins for the first course, get cold food over and over again. We also had an undercooked Filet, which was Rare. How would you feel if you have a $99 per person 4 course meal with underwhelming food and even worse service? Ask yourself this before you go to L&M’s!!
2nd time dining at Lou & Mickey's and they were just as good as the 1st time. Their Valentines menu was excellent. We both ordered the American Wagyu and it was just amazing. I always tell my friends that they have to try it from there. They seem to cook it to perfection. Service was great, the manager is awesome.
It was Valentine’s Day so expected it to be busy and that was fine but the pre fixed menu for $99/person was worth $70 max. Food was cold and bland, cheesecake was good but creme brule was not made correctly.
Valentine’s Day menu was misleading as far as pricing, I was double charged for a steak but the waiter wouldn’t take it off, each entree was brought out. At different times, my wife had to ask more than once for her second entree. The food was very good but menu pricing and service wasn’t good.
The hostess was deep in a conversation when we arrived and ignored us for several minutes. Finally, she did greet me, find my reservation and check me in. The meal was good and we enjoyed the ambiance. However, shortly after dining here I received an email from Open Table saying I missed my reservation. Apparently the hostess had marked us as a no-show. I followed up with Open Table (this took several emails) but it was annoying and time consuming to have to do this.
Our server was not warm and friendly, but he got the job done. Food was cooked well, the goat cheese appetizer was superb. We sat outside, it was lovely.
For an 800 dollar dinner you would expect your 100+ dollar steak to be prepared right and more than luke warm. It was OK but the charge more than OK price. Disappointed to say the least.
Very poor service. Went there for our big anniversary dinner and then due to poor table service we only ordered soup which was only marginal. Big disappointment. 😫😖
