This has to be San francisco’s hidden gem! Great food and the service is outstanding! Joseph was my server and he was very accommodating and alert! I would recommend trying the branzino and pescatore and to be paired with a glass of vermentino! And right now I’m still craving for the tiramisu that we had! Would definitely recommend this place and I will 100% be going back! Family owned restaurant!

Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time. Servers are very welcoming. I planned this very short amount of time. The crew helped me with some surprises i had for my girlfriend, food was amazing we were very detailed on how we want our food and they made it happen. Will definitely come back and bring my family that havent tried this spot. 10-10 🫶🏻 Shout out to this restaurant made our special day i night to remember

The online menu was different than the actual menu at the restaurant. They claimed they just redid their menu and it wasn’t updated on their website. My food needed to be sent back because it was not hot enough meaning my partner was pretty much completed hers by the time I received mine. Plus the meal I had was not fantastic, rather bland actually. Will not go back there.

The food was over priced for the quality and taste. My husband ordered Veal Parmesan which came as a very thick piece of meat that was tasteless. The Italian bread served was very dry and it seems it was sitting in the oven for too long. However, the server/waiter was great and very friendly. The restaurant could use some updating. Overall, an OK place but I wouldn't want to go back.

Such a gem! Will definitely be returning! The linguine with clams and mussels was perfect! The spinach salad was delicious and dressed just right. The servers seemed to anticipate our needs throughout our dinner, capped off with a lovely cappuccino!

This was our second visit in a few days. The food was excellent and good value. Joseph served us and was knowledgable attentive, a great host. It’s a must go to restaurant. Sadly we were only visiting San Fransisco for a few days so we have no opportunity to go back.

I was negatively impressed. The sauce with the branzino needed to be reduced a lot more, and the pasta was not enjoyable as a result. I ordered regular black coffee to go with dessert, but was served Cafe Americano. The waiter seemed to think they were the same. The wine list was pretty good. Prices were high, but this is San Francisco.

This is a hidden gem in walking distance of SF Playhouse, the Geary & Curran theaters. There's an extensive menu of Italian favorites, and the pastas are house made (a big plus!). Prices are very reasonable.

We were a party of 10 women dining after a play at Golden Gate theater. L’Ottavo agreed to take our reservation and all 10 in our party were happy with our meals. The server was wonderful and very accommodating. The food arrived in a timely manner and was tasty. A very low key place which we will return to again. Thank you!

The food was good but not great. The gorgonzola on the bruschetta overwhelmed the mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. The bacon/mushroom linguine in tomato cream sauce was generally good but probably would have been better with some sausage in it. No dessert menu was a disappointment but the meal was still filling.

Truly special evening at L'Ottavo last night. This gem has a wonderful "locals only" vibe in a clearly NOT locals only area in downtown SF. The bruechette with egg plant and gorgonzola was a tasty variation on the old standard, wine choices cover all tastes and are appropriately priced and both our entrees were on point! Topping the evening off were delicious canolli's and everything was serviced perfectly by Joseph! Thanks to all - this is a can't miss stop for locals, vacationers and Business diners. Go!

I would not recommend. The hostess sat us at the only table in the reception area instead of the main restaurant. While we tentatively agreed to be sat there, we quickly found out that we were not comfortable at the table, which was awkward, and literally surrounded by people in the waiting area. We requested to be moved to an open table in the restaurant. The host pointed to a table being cleared off and said we would be seated there. He then sat 2 other parties with no reservations at the remaining open tables. By this time our appetizers had arrived and they were mediocre at best. Bruchetta and calamari. We did not eat them and opted to leave since we could not be moved to a table that is within the actual restaurant.
