Los Moles - Emeryville

Good buffet brunch. Wait staff is not particularly attentive to diners. They are busy mopping, wiping, etc. they should dedicate one person to the mopping and wiping and other staff to waiting tables and bringing beverages. Ceramic water container was on the table, but no drink ware. Took ages to get a $9 sangria, which was not flavorful or worth the price. Better bet to go with a beer. The buffet option is a great way to try the several moles available (6 or 7), BUT each crock of mole had hardly any meat (chicken) in it. For a $17 buffet, they could have chicken available separately to go with sauce, they do have carnitas available to go with the moles though the carnitas are extremely salty. They do brisk business, but could benefit from a restaurant consultant.

Good food, good vibe, good service! We will definitely try it again...

Our family party of 11 went to celebrate Tata's 70th birthday. It was our first time and we ordered the brunch. They had 11 moles (all made with chicken) and among all of us, we tried them all! All of them got a 5 star rating! They're pozole and menudo we're also very tasty although we like more grano in our menudo. They kids menu has a good selection although our kids ate from the brunch bar but we were only charged for kids plates. We definitely plan to return again, next time ordering from the menu now that we know what moles we liked best! The staff was very attentive and accommodating! Highly recommended!

The 7 moles are well-prepared and tasty. You won't find (all of) them elsewhere. Try beef enchiladas w poblano mole if you think one beef enchilada is like another. The 4-mole sampler is a good intro. House-made tortillas. Taco Tuesday. A loud room, and the rice has been gooey, overcooked, but for the rest of it — great. We go back often.

My friend met at the Emeryville location of Los Moles on a Friday night. We each had margaritas and the Chile en Nogada which I don't see at a typical Mexican restaurant. The dish didn't disappoint! The presentation was beautiful and the waiter was quite attentive. When I mentioned that the San Rafael location offered coffee flan, he apologetically said it was not available on this dinner menu. However, after our meal he surprised us with little cups of the coffee flan and explained that they are only offered for the brunch. OMG...the coffee fan was heavenly! I will definitely go back to Los Moles, and I hope that the coffee flan is added to the menu!

Great authentic Mexican food. My husband who loves Mexican food had the buffet and loved it. The rest of us ordered from the menu and the food was tasty and great.
We will be back.

Crowded and noisy and most serving plates have chips or cracks. Dim light in buffet serving area and buffet main dish cooking styles are not diverse ( most are stewed).

Food was ok. Good variety of moles. Small place, would get pack easily. Easy parking. Waiter was very helpful.

Love this place ! 1st time here and we went for my moms Bday and I went ahead and reserved before we got there so wait was not bad at all . The employees are great 👍 and the food is AMAZING !!! Will be returning most definitely!

Great as always. Some of the most authentic Mexican food I've had in the east bay. All the staff is from Mexico and they make me feel right at home, since I'm originally from Mexico. One of my favs!

If you like home style Mexican food with ‘good heat,’ go to Los Moles. The chips are served with three types of fresh salsa, ranging from mild to hot. I recommend the Nuestros Moles. Nayeli, my server patiently told me about each of the mole sauces and helped me choose four. You will be pleasantly surprised as your taste buds adapt to the spiciness. It does not overwhelm you. The best fresh Mexican food I have had in a long time!

Went there to celebrate my mother's 62nd birthday. I had reserved a table for 8 and everything went well...they had our table ready ontime. I'd say our overall experience would have been excellent if only we would have received our drinks in a timely fashion but I can understand that not being the case since it was very busy. I tried the buffet and loved the different kinds of moles and the coffee is just amazing.

We have driven by this restaurant many times and usually it has groups on the sidewalk waiting to get in. One attempt to dine there we were told it would be over an hour to dine - we opted to go next door to a fabulous Thai restaurant and it was clearly the right choice that day. Anyway, we finally got in and I have to say we don't get what the appeal is. We appeared for our reservation, they had misspelled my name on their pad and it took some convincing that they left a letter out of my name, but yes, it is I! They offered us a very small wooden table whose chairs blocked a buffet walk area and the other side blocking the pick-up counter for the kitchen. We asked for another table - obviously we were going keep getting hit. The hostess refused, said we wouldn't get bumped. Wrong!! The bar area was empty but she kept saying it was just for drinkers. We ordered drinks and waited, and waited, and after 30 minutes we were still waiting. BUT the now full bar not only drinks but their dinners as well. We ordered different dishes but they both would have mango mole on them. Hubby ordered a rock shrimp/rice/mango mole dish - the shrimp weren't peeled or cleaned but he thought it tasted pretty good. I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and if the mango mole had been put on them, they should have tasted pretty good but instead, the enchiladas were already disintegrating with its steamed, tasteless chicken and a really poorly made pipian mole. Pipian is usually my favorite mole elsewhere, but this was just brown goop. Our waiter never made an appearance for an hour so we couldn't complain until way past a reasonable time. We told the issues, he looked at us like we had extra noses or something, shook his shoulders because he clearly didn't care, then presented us a full bill requesting 30% tip. The overpriced crap wasn't worth what they were charging but then expecting a generous tip for no service as well? After getting banged into for the umpteenth time, we left in disgust. YUCK

Very popular place with lines out the door. First time there, and food was fantastic. Chile Relleno's are the best with no batter and not oily. We had a group of seven foodies and the only fault was the Habanero sauce on Enchilada's didn't have enough heat. That's darn good for foodies. It's a small restaurant and I felt it was overbooked. People are literally jammed in a very small space. Business was jumping, which is great for them but not so much for customers.
We had reservations for 7 people, but still had to stand and wait for 30 minutes before being seated. Oldies, this is not a good choice. We are approaching 70 and my husband had to lean on his cane for thirty minutes after walking five blocks because parking is impossible. Was surprised as this was the first place in the East Bay that we have visited that no one, staff or customers offered him a seat. Staff seemed harried and unhappy. I think if you have a smaller group this is definitely worth a try.

It was a ok dinner previous restaurant from same owner was much better a little over price,no fancy for the price.

The food was very tasty and the staff was extremely accommodating had a great time.

Delicious mole, though since my friend (and many people) is allergic to peanuts, she was very disappointed that she couldn't eat the mole, which is the main reason we came. I would suggest adding some mole options to the menu that don't have peanuts as an ingredient. There are other also nuts that are used in mole recipes.

Food was very good. We went in during All-you-can-eat taco Tuesday as a party of 6. Service was poor, we had to keep flagging down our waiter for water, drinks, and the check. But food was good for the price. I only wish there were extra veggie toppings to go on the tacos and some cheese.

Los moles is a hidden gem, I personally recommend the weekend brunch because it's an all you can eat with 7 moles among other things! I can honestly say you won't be disappointed with the value and quality of the food!

Came here with a group of friends. Had a great time because of the company. Service was spotty with us having to flag down the waiter on multiple occasions (refill water, refill iced tea, bring check, etc.). Granted, it was Saturday night & they got pretty busy. I had the camarones al ajo (garlic), which consisted of six large prawns, nicely grilled and with good flavor. They came with a scoop of green (cilantro?) rice, which was pretty flavorless, and two good corn tortillas. Nothing else. Nothing green. My husband had the tilapia ala plancha, which at least included a few (undressed) greens. Others had the cucumber margaritas, which they thought were bland. Portions were quite small. A lot of people seemed to be getting the mole buffet ($17), which, in retrospect, we probably should have done, too. Apparently in includes fresh fruit, different moles, and posole.

Los Moles is a mainstay of ours when going to the Emeryville/Berekeley area. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent.
If you like different types of mole (sauce) or just like authentic mexican food. This is the place to go.
Don't miss their weekend buffet.

Imaginative, tasty Mexixan food with a contemporary flair. Outstanding service. Some effort to reduce the noise level would be appreciated.

The weekend brunch buffet is excellent! 7 kinds of mole, each one delicious, as well as the pozole and cocido. A mexican feast at a reasonable price. Sunday mornings also offer live music. I wish I could sit here all day!

Very average neighborhood place. Tables close together. Wait staff smiles a lot but doesnt get orders correct. Pitcher of Margaritas is $35. Food is kind of bland although the rice is delicious. Not a good $$$ value.

Authentic recipes and fantastic homemade sauces. I had the Tilapia in Habanero mole sauce and it was delicious. Fresh homemade tortillas are irresistible along with the agua frescas, this place is a must. I would love to have this restaurant near my city. Simply fantastic.

To give Los Moles four stars is for people who like authentic Mexican food--especially food that is more peasant that sophisticated. Little did I know there is something other than chocolate moles! We tried the buffet since it had a number of choices (6?) of moles and we could try them all. Some had grease on them but, of course, we are talking authentic here. The posole had bones and had been "brewing" for a long time--it was excellent. Next time we go, I am going to try the menu which has numerous options including my long-searched-for chili rellenos that have NOT been battered. The clientele included other Anglos but there were a number of customers who looked to be from countries where this would be their soul food. That is a good recommendation. Make note: if you want upscale and/or sophisticated dining, this is not your place. This is a very good, unpretentious Mexican/Central American restaurant.

I enjoyed the happy hour margaritas! Food was just okay! But still a fun experience! Guacamole was good, by presentation could be better! Salsa was great, but they serve in plastic Togo containers! So the waste there was disturbing. And it was hard to fit the chips in there.
