What Insiders Are Saying
La Esquina for the common folk, where the vibe and the drinks are the stars but with stellar food to boot. This cozy taqueria upstairs opens up into a raucous fiesta downstairs.
Fun atmosphere, great for the start of a night out 💃🏾
We arrived a few minutes past the 15 minutes grace time and the girl that checked us in was nice enough to see if we were still able to be seated and luckily we were. Great food & great music.
Went here with 2 friends for a casual dinner. It was pretty loud but that’s expected for a Friday night, definitely a fun spot. The margaritas are good. I had the vegetarian burrito which was great but very messy to eat. Would go back!
I got a text saying that they were fully booked and I would be cancelled if we did not arrive on time. When I arrived after sprinting halfway across town, the restaurant was half empty. I was not enthused to say the least
My friends and I booked my birthday dinner at Los Feliz. We were excited to find a place with both good food, and a fun vibe. Unfortunately, our experience was not a good one at all.
We arrived on time for our reservation, but were asked to wait for the previous party to wrap up. This happens and we were totally okay with it until we were brought downstairs to a table that looks like it seats 6 people max (we were 9).
Our waiter brought over menus, but didnt come back to take our drink orders until about 20 minutes later. We waited an additional 30 minutes, thinking he might just be slammed, but one of us decided to get up and let him know we were ready to order. (we arrived on time for the 9:30pm reservation, and we were still waiting to order at 10:45pm)
Our waiter comes over, we are all ready to put in our order when he lets us know to be quick because the kitchen is closing. We were all just in a bit of shock at the lack of customer service and regard for the "special note" about it being a birthday celebration, so if there was anything special they could do, it would be greatly appreciated. We got quite the opposite.
Finally, we sign the check and are getting up, but before any of us have a chance to grab our things off the table, it is being dragged off to the side and cleared to make room for a dancefloor. Again, we were just shocked to the point where it became comical.
On a brighter note - this is a great place to dance. Its lively and draws in a crowd. But, definitely not the best place to go for dinner.
First ones to arrive for the evening at 6:30, but started to fill up after a while. Great service and wonderful food and margs! Had the fried calamari tacos, which were amazing. Table had housemade guac that was fresh and very flavorful. Would recommend!!
Recently went here on a Saturday night. Loud and lively. Food and drinks were excellent. Calamari tacos are recommended!
The service was slow and generally very poor. Restrooms were filthy and in disrepair. Never returning.
Good food and drinks! But very expensive for what it is.
Los Feliz is my favorite restaurant in the city, period.
Had my girls for my bachelorette gather here for dinner at the beginning of the night and the staff was fantastic. Great place to begin he festivities!
So far so good !
This used to be one of my favorite places in the LES. Unfortunately, this place has fallen by the wayside. The atmosphere, once so vibrant, is now dark. The staff was simply horrible. Never going back again.
Making a reservation was easy. Upom entering we had a choice of where we would sit. The server had a great suggestions based upon our party, since it was our first time it was helpful. From the ambiance to the music 🎶 it was beautiful.
Loved the vibes downstairs but our table of 7 was a bit cramped even though we had made a reservation 2+ weeks in advance. Food and the hibiscus margarita were good. I didn’t appreciate that they charged us two extra drinks we never ordered so that was confusing at the end of dinner for the table to split the tab.
The ambiance was cool, we got in right away, nice music and fast service. I wasn’t impressed with the food, it didn’t taste fresh—more like a taco mix I could pick up myself at the grocery store. Our waitress was a bit unfriendly and the server messed up our charge when splitting the bill 4 ways. The total bill was $138 and he charged $100 to two cards and $38 to two other cards.
We were rushed as they need to turn the table for the next reservation. The downstairs room was very hot.
we went for my boyfriend's birthday, and I've also been there in the past for birthdays. we had a large group of 12, and we were still able to order off the regular menu (and also a prefixe option + open bar deal). Most restaurants require the prefixe for larger groups, which can be challenging given everyone's different taste. we just did some apps/entrée/margarita pitchers and it ended up being a good deal for dinner still
the environment is great & fun - we always request the basement seating and the later reservations...los feliz is fun at night so it's a great place to finish dinner then head to the bar
Don’t bother making reservations because it will not be acknowledged nor do they care enough to call you to let you know the kitchen is closed early despite having a reservation.
Small batch tequilas and delicious food. Can't rave enough about this understated place. Bartender was so knowledgeable about her tequilas. So smooth and pure, no hint of a hangover!
Since we were a big group, we were in the basement. The music was extremely loud for dining, we couldn't hear each other which made the experience not so great. I know its a bar and we should expect music but this was another level !!
The food was amazing though, highly recommend !
This place was everything I wanted for my birthday dinner and more. The prices for the food are reasonable--the food is delicious and not your typical Mexican fare. Drinks are top notch. The pitchers are def worth it. We sat int he basement which is all cobblestone and old brick. Definitely my favorite part. The pictures of it online don't do it justice. Also, the staff were EXTREMELY helpful and understanding. We had a group of 7 but 3 of our friends were stuck in 45 minutes of traffic. The staff seated us anyway when we were just 4 and then was happy to let us wait for the remaining 3. We tipped extra, of course, and nibbled on the delicious salsa sampler and sipped on various types of margaritas while we waited. Would definitely go back. They were so kind and made sure I wasn't worried about losing our spot or anything.
We went on a double date, had the Barbacoa tacos (delicious), summer squash quesadillas (favorite) and amazing guacamole and salsas. Drinks were delicious too. Beautiful dark ambience
We loved the food we got but our server was so inattentive. We got our main courses before our appetizer and then had to wait for so long to order more things and get the check. We had to ask the busser to do the things the server would normally do. Overall the food was great but the service was very poor. There weren’t many people there through most of our dinner so hard to understand the lack of service.
The food here is SO good! It's hard to find good Mexican food in the city... well Los Feliz has GREAT Mexican food! GO! NOW!
Came here for a bachelorette party and it was awesome. Great food, great vibe and good music.
Went there for dinner w/ a friend on a weds...food was ok, tacos were good but other food came cold. The drinks were decent but service was horrible.
The food, service and drinks were wonderful! The hibiscus margarita was really delightful and the flor de calabaza quesadilla was great. I only wish it hadn't been so chilly! People go too far with AC during these summer months. I'll look forward to returning and next time I'll bring a jacket.
Came here post-comedy show with my friends and family. Music level was a bit too loud but the food made up for it big time.
Drank lots of patron and it was quality bc I had no hangover
We went with a group of 8 people for a birthday party. The service was good, the food was good and the atmosphere was good. Only complaint is that we were seated in the basement so the acoustics aren't great. It was very loud with all of the people combined with the music. Fun for going out but a little difficult to have conversations over dinner. Still a great time!
The waiter forgot to put in one persons order and then we were asked to leave our table before the 2 hour limit was up and we still had a pitcher of sangria and had been interested in ordering dessert.
I haven't been to Los Feliz in a few years, but pleasantly surprised to return and the food and drinks were just as great, if not better. It's on a rare occasion that I've found a place in NYC to be around for as long as Los Feliz has and not lose its flair. We ordered the spicy cucumber margaritas, ceviche flight, calamari tacos, barbacoa tacos and the chicharron de pollo tacos. All were spectacular but the standout was definitely the chicken tacos. They had a nice kick and full of flavor. Will definitely be back.
Los Feliz is a great place to start the night in Lower East Side. There are so many cool bars and clubs nearby. Also, if you place a reservation in advance, this is a great place to eat no matter the party size. Although the tacos are small, I would highly recommend getting the Cazuelas and sharing with someone - a generous amount of food and same price as tacos! The pitchers are also a pretty good value since they have a good amount of tequila.
Loved the food, service and ambience . Great place to celebrate with group of friends and then enjoy night of dancing
I expected more given how popular this place is late night. Sadly - I think it should stay a fun late night bar/lounge and not be in the restaurant list
The service was horrible. We made a reservation a week before and we got the worst table ever. Very very disappointed with this place
Food was great service was great, downstairs got very muggy, need better ventilation for downstairs.
We were a little concerned when we received 2 calls confirming our reservation for dinner on Christmas eve. As Jews in New York for Yiddish New York, we wanted a good dinner near Clemente Soto Velez where the opening night concert was being held. The restaurant was empty due to the Christmas holiday. But the staff were attentive. Our meal was well prepared, creative and fresh. From hibiscus margarita to ceviche to veg burrito to yuca fries with aioli. All delicious and freshly prepared. We recommend it highly!! For us, it was a good thing they stayed open Christmas Eve...
