We have been numerous times since they opened about 4 years ago and each time it has declined slightly, now the difference from the beginning is significant. The queso fundido is still spot-on but all the other dishes disappoint in some way or another. For example the pork shoulder mole was bland and soupy-- pretty much the diametric opposite of what you'd expect from Mexican mole. On the other hand they continue to maintain the high service standards and the setting is still gorgeous. What happened to the chef? At this rate I don't see them lasting much longer. As my wife said, these meatballs taste like my mom's (swedish) meatballs...
On top of it all they didn't honour my reservation seating and I had to ask them to confirm attendance to collect the 100 points... not surprising
Our food was disappointing. In the chicken tortilla soup there was almost no chicken and way too many tortilla chips. My grilled octopus dish was served chopped and mixed with a sauce that masked the flavors of the seafood. The shrimp ceviche was overly sweetened with coconut. And the guacamole side was overly spicy with jalapeño. We cannot recommend the cuisine here.
Awesome food and margaritas! Great service and ambiance
Exceptional flavour combinations. Fried snapper was off the charts good. Shared for 2 with a few apps before the show. Great night
Great choice before theatre !
I was visiting from Saskatoon and staying with family and booked a reservation. Had a delicious supper and fun night!!!
One of the best Mexican Restaurant in Toronto is a shame is closed now... every time we visit we remember our Country ...
Was looking forward to a special evening. Snapper was great. Squid was awful.
Overall very high quality. Delicious. The only thing that we felt was less than amazing was the pork shoulder in a mole sauce. The pork was slightly dry. The mole wasn’t very flavorful. The guacamole, tortilla soup, and meat platter we had were delicious. Oh. And Wednesday 40% off wine bottles was 👌
The food was thoughtfully and creatively prepared and the flavours subtle, especially the sauces. I loved my chicken with mole sauce and the tuna tartare appetizer. The churros dessert was sophisticated. The service was superb: unobtrusive, yet always there at the right time, and knowledgeable. I found the ambiance a little sombre, yet it was dignified. I highly recommend it, and would readily go again.
Server was great and enjoyed our meal. Something different and delicious.
Loved the unique margaritas and shared the guacamole and tuna appetizers. Both we delicious. We shared the steak fajitas and they the best I’ve ever had! The grilled chorizo and grilled cheese that went with it was such an extra special treat! We’ll be back!!
Our waitress, Jessica, was amazing. She was attentive and recognized that we weren’t interested in being rushed throughout our evening. Truly special
The food was incredible, our server Gael was attentive to all our needs and super friendly! Loved the ambiance.
The food and service are always very good. Our table wabbled but was fixed immediately by our wait staff when asked if something could be done to repair this situation. We are from the summerlicious menu. My main was a chicken meatball (4 to be precise) in a wonderful mole sauce. Very tasty. Dessert was also delicious. I would definitely return. Love how authentic the food is at Los Colobris
I am not from Toronto but love healthy Mexican food. This restaurant was amazing and would definitely return the next time I am in the city. Food was outstanding.
Very authentic Mexican.
Everything was full of flavour.
Salads and main courses were excellent, dessert less so although the ice cream is good. Service was friendly but chaotic - were served the wrong first courses and then the wrong desserts. Duh...We left the merchant's credit card receipt on the table because no one came to pick it up. Place is noisy but aesthetically pleasing. But all in all we would consider returning because as Mexican food goes, this is good.
Loved it and will be back again. We were off to the theatre and they moved our order along quickly. The appetizer was excellent and the main wonderful. I wish we had time for dessert.
Everything was amazing food, service, ambience. It is a hidden gem.
Went for summerlicious. Service was great. Food also good. I would come again another time.
Our waiter was fantastic slowly explaining the menu options as it was our first visit and comparing the regular and summerlicious menus. He recommended a new house red which went well with meals. The food was very good and the surroundings were very comfortable all combining to a perfect evening.
Really good food
Great restaurant with an amazing staff. We arrived early before opening because we didn’t know how much time to allot for traffic. The let us sit in the waiting area until they officially opened but still served us drinks to enjoy while we waited. They provided great advice on what to eat and a very informative lesson on tequila and how to enjoy the best version of it. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. She noticed that my cocktail was a little too strong for me and provided me with more cocktail juice to dilute my drink so that I could enjoy it at my beginner level of alcohol. We had the guacamole and torta de elote (corn cake) for appetizers and also shared the albondigas de pollo en mole de cacahuate and the sharing platter of octopus. So delicious! The dinner was a great way to celebrate my girls night out celebrating our birthdays before the theatre. We also had the very delicious flan dessert.
Overall, I was disappointed with our experience. Our server was alright, however the food and menu selections were terrible. Mexican cuisine is a usually a fairly safe bet for diners with nuts allergies as well as vegans, both of which we had in our party. LC was able to accommodate for the nut allergy ( despite many dishes having nuts) ... however, the vegan dish was a huge letdown. It was a thin pasta with steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and an overly salty sauce... bland and simple. It would have been less disappointing if any of the salads could have been vegan. Value for money was also just ok. Would definitely not go back.
Good restaurant but price is high. I like their guac and veg empanada. I also had their stuffed pepper with pork. I find the food was not as good as I remembered a few years ago.
As always, Los Colibris never disappoints! Food is excellent and the service outstanding!
Booked 5pm dinner for party of 2 prior to 7pm show at Roy Thompson Hall because I wanted to be sure we had time for dessert. We were asked what time our show was by 2 different staff members, including our server, presumably so they could get us out on time. We ordered 3 smaller plates to share. The first 2 came out in good time, and then we waited more than 30 min for the last one, which was brought at 6:30. We rushed through this dish and left disappointed because we didn’t have time for any dessert, which was the main reason I chose the restaurant. If you make a point of asking pre-theatre patrons what time their show is, please ensure they can actually enjoy a full meal without feeling rushed. We were really surprised at this since we’ve been to Los Colibris twice before prior to shows, allowing the same or even less time for our meal and never had this issue.
Not terrible, but certainly didn't meet our expectations which were upscale/ fine dining. The experience is casual dining with table cloths. The server was helpful and friendly however the place was disorganised and over managed.
Traditional Sonoran Mexicans food, not the traditional Fajita, tacos and taco salad we’re all used to. Some may struggle with the menu but there are seafood and meat dishes that should meet the needs of most diners. The service was excellent and friendly, the ambience inviting and the price reasonable.
Definitely worth a try to see if this meets your fancy.
Great experience. Manager Carlos and waitress Jennifer made us feel super special. Food and ambiance were also excellent.
Creative Mexican based cuisine. Many sharable options. Friendly, approachable, knowledgeable staff. In the middle of Toronto's theatre district so great for a drink or meal before a show.
The soup was cold and we waited a long time for dinner. The waiter broke a glass in front of our table. we had to ask them to clear the table and replace everything. We were still finding small shards of glass on the table at the end of the meal. The sign of a good restaurant is not when everything goes right but how they react when something goes wrong.
Wonderful menu - we tried several appetizers and shared a small plate. Lots of food, great to sample so many choices. Creative dishes beautifully presented.
The service was excellent. The food was a taste experience and not too filling. Would definitely go again.
The waiters were very kind!
The food is very very good
Best cheese fundido! Great food and ambiance. Maybe a few non-carb veg options.
I loved the tijuana caesar salad, and the margarita's were amazing! We would definitely go back.
Best restaurant in Roy Thompson Hall area - totally delicious
Very interesting high end Mexican menu. We really enjoyed all of our choices from appetizer through dessert. Lovely ambiance, great service.
