Most of the food was great. The morels mushrooms was extremely salty, my raspberry purée for the dessert was strangely salty as well. Beside that, everything else was amazing. The highlight was the confit foie gras, the cabbage, and the crab with truffles and egg yolk. The service was good, food came out at a good pace. Love that it was casual dining for a Mechlin star restaurant. It was very welcoming and comfortable. I will bring my husband here for a date night the next time we're in town.

A great meal overall, but some common-sense details were overlooked. We were a party of three and selected the tasting menu. We also had one order of the fois gras to share. The server brought two pieces of toast - i would think given the amount we were spending for the entire meal, an extra piece of toast would not be too much to ask for. Second lapse of attention came when they brought the petit four - two chocolates or a bed of cotton candy. Didn't they know we were a party of three? I guess they did not even bother and really wanted us to leave!

This is my second time at Lord Stanley and it is still wildly disappointing. The first time was shortly after it opened and even though it wasn't impressive, it seemed to have potential. I decided to revisit the restaurant since it gets good reviews and maybe they had worked out the quirks. I was wrong - the second experience was worse than the first. The service was poor, the menu wasn't interesting, and though what we ordered was good, 'good' doesn't cut it in SF - especially at that price point.

Food and service were excellent. There is obvious great care and pride of ownership in both areas. Wagyu beef tartar was a revelation and even the simplest dishes (peas) were exquisite. Service was attentive and well-informed as to the dishes and the eclectic wine list. The only drawback, which I feel I have to mention, is the volume in the room. It was borderline painful, hence my "very good" overall rating.

Not worth it. Michael Bauer's taste buds are off. The portions are really, really small. The wines by the glass are very light - nothing was too full bodied. The food was OK, but not worth a second visit. Go to Frances or Zarzuela instead for a real meal!

From start to finish, with a supplement of foie gras, there was not a missed step in this multi-course extravaganza. Everything was delicious, beautifully assembled and plated, the right temperature, well-balanced, successful. Even the selection of serving ware was perfect. The service was friendly without being intrusive, informed, and accessible. Wine pairings were creative and educational. My friend from out of town had never had California cuisine and I'm afraid I have spoiled him for life. We spent almost 5 hours at that table and it flew by. It was expensive but well worth it. Probably the only time I have ever had a tasting menu without feeling uncomfortable full afterwards.

This relatively new neighborhood restaurant is in a bright and shiny space, feels somewhat like a European bistro. Limited menu means the owner/chef can concentrate on a few great things and make the dining experience a surprise. The staff works together extremely well and appear to enjoy both working together and serving the customers. Due to the extreme popularity of this place especially with very lively people it was unfortunately very noisy. Hard to speak without raising our voices at dinner. Next time we'll go earlier - or later! The portions are not large, listen to the server and include a starter! We'll be back!

We found the food quite nice, but the place was really cold and the service definitely distant. The wine was just atrocious: I ordered a bottle of a grape I always enjoy and it was bitter. We ordered a dessert wine which turned out to be a dry wine ("off dry" said the staff). The whole experience felt like we should be grateful to be allowed in. They literally give you the check when they want you out, with 2 sweets to make it palatable. Won't go back.

We went full boat on this ( Hey, they have a Michelin star ). Enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairings and were treated to a truly gourmet event. Excellent preparation and exceptional staff. These guys really hustle. The oyster with creme fraiche was my standout favorite along with the sparkling Chenin Blanc. Reason for one star from perfect on food? Found the beef a little tough and a couple of the wines less polished. So not quite perfect but in the park. Cost of the event is not for the faint hearted. Special occasion. Just go.

I don't live in the San Francisco area, but always look forward to dinner at Lord Stanley when I'm in town. Having been there on the first few days after they opened, I've watched the restaurant evolve into an exceptional dining experience. I highly recommend the Chef's Tasting Menu as a way to experience the full skill and creativity of the kitchen. I loved the ever changing wine list, which while compact, beautifully showcases the cuisine. As always, service was friendly and knowledgable, reflecting the staff's extensive experience in fine dining. Previous customers should be aware that the restaurant has quietly changed back to the standard service/tipping practices typical to U.S. restaurants. I can't wait for my next visit!

From the moment you enter you are welcomed and made to feel at home. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overly so or precious, none of your "oh hello I'm Charles and I'll be your waiter blah blah." They were just regular folks helping you out. They were extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. When they found out it was our anniversary they gave us a glass of champagne. Love that. The food was delicious. Clever, inventive, perfectly prepared and presented. Just fabulous. I would certainly recommend it.

Personally found the Valentine's Day tasting menu to be disappointing (particularly the oyster, hen and trout dishes). Flavors either didn't work together or the dish was too bland. The dessert was good. Overpriced for what it was. The atmosphere was good and the service was good.

Lord Stanley was lovely. The tasting menu was well paced, creatively plated, full of playful flavors and integrated elevated familiars such as waygu beef and the most delightful scallop I've ever had. The staff was also a dream - attentive without being suffocating, friendly and accommodating. However - Lord Stanley is loud. The aesthetic is beautiful but the industrial simplicity means there are too many hard surfaces for noise to reverberate off of. As old fashioned as carpets and paintings are in restaurants they help absorb sound. I suggest Lord Stanley contemplate a few very minimalistic but very large canvas paintings to see if things will improve. The loudness was the only negative component to our experience. I will be back!

Had a slight anticipation going to a neighborhood one star dining with foodie friends. First of all, the noise level was amped up due to a big party seated upstairs and their shrieks and laughters bounced off the walls and interrupted our conversations. We ordered the Tasting Menu and we could not figure out if this month's theme menu was "tangy and sour". The SCALLOPS WITH WHITE BEANS AND PRESERVED LEMON was okay but it was nothing extraordinary. All I remember was that the broth was tangy. GRILLED WAGYU BEEF WITH YUKON POTATO AND SHALLOT was another dish where the yukon potato was strangely very sour! I could not comprehend the combination of that with the beef cuz it certainly did not complement the flavor. CHARRED SUNCHOKE WITH VANILLA AND BREAD SAUCE - the sauce sadly did not complement the sunchokes since it had a dessert like sweetness. The dark chocolate pudding was overly sweet, none of us finished it. Everything was a miss. Food was overrated and uninspiring. I will give a good review about their wine list. Price point was not set high and affordable.

I was really surprised by Lord Stanley. I'd heard good things, but it exceeded expectations: Fantastic prix fixe menu (particularly the dessert — wow), great wine list (particularly the Jura), and good ambiance. The only odd thing was our seating — we were perched around the end of a long communal table for groups.

My boyfriend and I celebrated NYE at Lord Stanley with our friends. The food was good. Presentation was excellent, and the staff/service was very good. There are a few reasons why I probably won't be going back though. 1) The restaurant is freezing. I mean I love the modern minimalist look of concrete and such, but I should not have to wear my coat at dinner. I actually had to ask our server to fetch the coat I'd asked them to hang up 10 mins into our dinner. 2) They don't serve real cocktails. Honestly, if I would have known that beforehand I probably would not have booked a table there for NYE. I had a mock negroni made from sparkling wine. Obviously, not the same. For these two reasons I felt the $800+ bill for 4 people (albeit it was a NYE prixe fixe menu) was way too high and not worth returning.

I had such a wonderful time here celebrating my brother's birthday! The food was delicious, and the servers were cordial. They even put a candle on my brother's dessert plate! My only complaint is they sat the two of us right next to the front door, which opened right into the dining room.
