   L'Opossum is always the best. Such a treat to eat here. We've eaten here a small handful of times but last night was the best! My husband had the filet, a perennial favorite and probably the best steak in Richmond, and I had the arctic char catch of the day, which was AMAZING-- such a unique and absolutely delicious preparation. Best meal I've ever had there, which is saying a lot! The service is always superb as well, and the atmosphere fun.

   The outside is unassuming for all the magic that is inside. The service was impeccable. I was seated at the bar since I was solo, and even there was the same service you would expect from table service. The chilled corn soup accented by VA ham and sweet cold crab. The lightly minted water was a delightful palate cleanser between each bite. I followed it up with pork belly with choux dumplings was divine and so filling. I had to skip out for dessert because I was filled to the brim with all the other savory masterpieces. Next time my sweets.

   We started with throwing shade cocktails. We had the fabrege egg as an appetizer. We had the char and filet for the entrees. Everything was delicious. Staff very friendly and on point.

   Rarely is a sequel better… This was our second visit, the first just being a few short weeks ago. We did not come alone this time, having friends join us. It was an 8:15 reservation on a Friday evening and we were seated after a brief wait. Between the four of us, we had crabcakes, a chicken, special, and two of us had the quail entrée. I was looking forward to the lobster bisque soup that I had in the previous visit. It was among the best I have ever tasted… But I was told no. Sadness ensued. Yes, I’m the sort of guy that daydreams about his food looking forward to the visit. I was told that I would enjoy the super special on this day, some sort of cold corn chowder with some ham and homemade salsa in the middle. We’ll see. For me, it was like the sadness of having to put a long time pet down, and then being given a surprise puppy as a gift. Well, maybe not that extreme, but this new soup was totally fantastic. Service was attentive without being intrusive, the pacing of the meal was spot on, and generally… Everyone there treated us as if we were favorite longtime customers. Truth be told, this is exactly how you create that type of client.

   An uncommon, eclectic experience, L’Opposum is consistently excellent in every way. The dishes are nothing less than remarkable. Oysters. Swellington. The best Char. It should have a Michelin star. We travel two states to dine here. Thank you to all the staff for such extraordinary evenings. We’ll be back. Again.

   Amazing!!!!! So so good! Went to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and every staff member made sure to say happy birthday. Food 10/10
