   **A Dazzling Dining Experience—Richmond at Its Finest** I brought out-of-town colleagues to L’Opossum for dinner, and the entire experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we walked in, we were treated to warm, attentive service and an atmosphere that felt both playful and refined. The attention to detail in every dish was truly impressive—each plate was a visual work of art, and the flavors were layered in a way that only a truly inspired kitchen can achieve. Every bite was a conversation starter. Bold, unexpected combinations came together in perfect harmony, creating a meal that was not only memorable but downright thrilling. My colleagues were absolutely blown away, and I was proud to share one of Richmond’s most creative culinary gems with them. Five stars all the way—L’Opossum is a must for anyone who loves food that surprises and delights.

   This was our second visit to L'Opossum. It is a relatively small restaurant, very popular, and usually busy. The food is phenomenal, creative, and perfectly plated. Service is excellent. I had the chilled corn soup with saffron and blue crab. The hubs had the Faberge Egg appetizer: hard boiled egg, dyed pink with beets, topped with lobster and caviar! Both sensational. For our mains, he had the filet mignon, yum. I devoured the Atlantic Char served on a latke made with parsnips instead of potato! So delicious. The flan for dessert was fabulous, and I'm a flan junkie. I will say it is quite loud. The music playing, to me, was annoying. I recognized about 3 songs; but the rest were just unneeded noise. But, that is just me, I'm old. We will definitely return. When you make a reservation, which is a must; request a booth. You will love it.

   Not worth the extravagant price. Salty salmon, mediocre dessert. I’ll never go again.

   Excellent food and service in a very unique atmosphere. We had a great time for my wife’s birthday we will be back again.

   Celebrated our 16 yr wedding anniversary with dinner and friends at L’Opossum. A delight for all our senses. Definitely worth the wait (we booked 3 months in advance). Excellent cocktails with and without alcohol. Attentive, but not overly so, and fun wait staff. Yummy yummy appetizers, entrees and desserts. Looking forward to the next special event to celebrate there.

   Wife and I agree that it may have been the best food we’ve ever had in our lives. Absolutely cannot wait to come back!!

   Great anniversary dinner! We were greeted with champagne on the house. The duck appetizer was excellent as well as the crab cakes and steak.

   This was our first time at L'Opossum, but it will not be our last. It is a small unassuming place, but the service and the food are far greater than the sum of its parts. We had so much fun with the whimsical menu options and the eclectic decor. It almost felt more like having dinner at someone's house than at a restaurant since both the decor and the menu reflected the personality of the chef and owner. I would highly recommend everyone try it even if it turns out not to be your kind of place, you don't know until you try and for us...it was a home run and a we will be back. Sorry it took so long for us to try to begin with,

   We came for the food - everything else is secondary. The quality of the raw ingredients was outstanding in our shared appetizer, 2 main courses, and shared dessert. However, there were just too many ingredients in each, leading each dish to be a muddled mess of flavors. We compare it to having a good quality set of paints. If you use them judiciously, the resulting painting is impactful. But if you mix together the all the paints in the set, you end up with a muddy grey. All four of the dishes tasted of very little because the myriad of ingredients canceled each other out or competed. Not complimented. The service was brisk (very brisk), the decor kitschy. The chef/owner certainly expects his vision to set the tone. With entrees running a hefty $48 - $50, apps around $22, and desserts at $15, I look to at least meet him halfway. Here, I felt left out of the dining experience, subsumed in what he wanted to accomplish. Judging from lots of other flattering reviews, he will have no problems finding willing diners. It just won't be us.

    It wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. Went to celebrate our anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect. All the food was delicious and the staff is so sweet!! The creme brulee was my favorite part, I will be thinking about it forever.
