We were in town for Keeneland
Brought 9 close friends to have Brunch
Food mostly good but our server was very not .
AWESOME!!! Fabulous birthday dinner. Staff were fun and attentive. Food excellent and the chef made a special gluten and dairy free dessert for us!!!
Everything we ordered was delicious
Perfect! Amazing service, interesting menu served in a fun environment!
Short drinks caused disappointment....surely they can do better. We enjoyed the food.
Dined on a Thursday around noon, only about 3 or 4 other tables had guests. So not sure how it is with a crowd. Popped in for a business lunch, service was good although hostess is a bit sloppy. Food choices were limited in the salad category, would expect more there for business lunches. Will try for dinner service.
We felt rushed by the staff to get through the meal. The local cheese plate was good, but our entrees were underwhelming.
Food was good.....but the wait staff was very short handed. We had pretty much NO service.
Not the servers fault. Restaurant was just poorly managed.
We have stayed at 4 of the 21c Museum Hotels and it is on our bucket list to stay at all of the properties because they are so interesting. The art work, the ambience and of course the food is always delightful and pleasing to the overnight guest. I totally recommend these properties to everyone who enjoys something different and unique during their stay. The penguin always has a date with me.
Loved the hush puppies appetizer. The Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts were fantastic. excellent cheese burger.
Anniversary celebration was lovely. Great food and wonderful service!
We enjoyed our brunch at Lockbox on Sunday. It was a perfect way to wind up our trip to Lexington! The atmosphere is stylish and comfortable! Food was very good! Would definitely recommend Lockbox to anyone looking for a good brunch spot in Lexington! You
Great Dinner, food was excellent! Staff was attentive and meal came out fast.
Good experience. Good food
Great spot to grab a cocktail before dinner and then enjoy some great food. Interesting ambiance and a great addition to Lexington downtown.
I have enjoyed dining at the 21C restaurants in Louisville and Cincinnati, and Lexington did not disappoint. The food, wine, and craft cocktails were all delicious! The scallop special may have been the best I've ever had. The tartar was sublime. We ordered a variety of items and the manager's wine selections paired well. We did seem to have a new waitress who wasn't on top of her game, but the manager more than made up for this. The unique museum atmosphere is fun, but I would add that it is a little cold. The decor could use a little color, whether a bold splash of red or a subtle warming/tinting of the white paint. I will definitely return with anyone I'm trying to impress with Lexington's creative dining options.
Easter brunch. Was good. Would return, but not
Very nice Easter Brunch
The food prep was too over the top with seasoning and accompaniments for me. I expected a simpler preparation from reading the menu online prior to making reservations. Vegetable choices were too limited. Presentation and service were superior. Meats were excellent. Meals too pricey. Good bartender. Nevertheless, the other 4 members of my party were better pleased w their meals. Excellent server!
Everything was great, it’s just all the food was a bit salty. I know that’s normal for restaurants but this seemed even more so. If the salt was cut by 1/2, it could have been one of the better meals I’ve had.
Went for brunch. The food was good, particularly the ham and the fried potatoes. Also, the 10-yr-old ate nearly all of his waffle, which is the most I’ve seen him eat in a single meal before, so it must have been excellent. That said, the service was really lacking. He picked up some of the menus, but not all. He took my order for tea, brought part of what I asked for - but not all - and THEN asked everyone else what they wanted to drink. Nothing too awful, but it was obvious he didn’t want to be there. Considering the prices, service should be much better than this.
The dining room is beautiful. The ambiance, service, and food were all outstanding. We will recommend Lockbox to our friends and family as a place they must try whenever they are near Lexington.
The best part of this restaurant was definitely the service and atmosphere we were able to experience. It was nice to have comfortable seating along with a great views of downtown out the windows then great pieces of art on the walls.
The food was very good and at a reasonable value compared to the portion size we received. Would have liked to have a few more options on the menu with not so complicated dish names.
Overall I was satisfied with the experience and we will be making another visit.
Interesting menu - well executed - the oyster appetizer was fantastic. The atmosphere is really cool - an old bank with many key features remaining. The only flaw was the service - it wasn't awful but for this caliber of restaurant the service was more like an applebees - could not offer any explanation about any of the selections - clueless on the wine options - in obvious need of better training - fortunately the food was tasty enough to overcome this issue.
Food was very creative and the drinks were outstanding.
Beautiful place with impecable service. Side dish options are limited but always very creative and tastey. Cocktails are also limited but hand crafted and delish! Good place for business entertaining.
The food is promising but just seemed to miss the mark. Salad was gigantic and overly salted. pasta sauces a bit too heavy...wine list was the highlight...
An outstanding meal. Quality choices on the menu makes up for quantity of choices. Lengthy wine menu and more than enough beers. Staff super friendly. Arrived 10 minutes before reservation and sat immediately. Can't say enough good things. Wife's scallops perfect with sweet potato puree and shaved brussel sprouts.
My husband and I were in town for a UK basketball game. We were able to walk to Lockbox.
We thought the food was amazing! Everything was a "notch" higher than what was expected. The crispy brussel sprouts were the best we have ever had. We enjoyed the meal so much we went back for Sunday Brunch the next morning. We had Shrimp and Grits and Eggs Benedict and enjoyed it just as much as dinner the night before.
Highly recommend LockBox.
Attentive server without being too chummy - I believe her name is Zephyr
Food was great. The atmosphere is IKEA-ish...very cheaply decorated.
I took my wife here for Valentines dinner and we were seated in the appropriate time for our reservations. Seemed like a nice / cozy & somewhat romantic restaurant. When we received the menu we quickly realized there were no prices on anything and very little to choose from. I think there were only 4 maybe 5 appetizers to choose from along with the main meal. I asked how much the pork chop was? $55.00 for a small pork chop is way over priced. We settled for 1 appetizer, 1- glass of wine and 1- bourbon and still managed to spend $50.00. Lord knows that w/ 2 main coarse meals, we more than likely would've spent $200.00
Loved the museum but the food was overly expensive for the taste. It was a fun and unique date night spot though! Just wished the food was better.
I took my wife for valentines day. before I arrived, I checked out the bad review posted on this site for the lockbox. I wanted to know what to look out for. I think management at the lockbox is not only looking at the reviews, but taking action to correct. In particular, several bad reviews noted un friendly staff, that was not our experience. In fact 5 people said either thank you for dinning with us or have a nice evening on our way out, yes I counted. Staff was friendly. The Mac & Cheese received several bad mentions, and lets face it, if its not like mom's, well its not great. We did order the Mac & Cheese, it was a huge portion, not dry, perfectly fine, not mom's but hit the spot. Valentines did have a fixed menu, something others complained about, on special occasions, but we were also given an additional menu which had most of what the lockbox usually serves. all in all a good number of choices. It appears again Lockbox is listening. Yes its on the higher dollar scale, but not out of sight, and after we had our meal we visited the museum/art gallery, which is free. I wanted a fancy night out with my wife, I paid for a fancy night out, and I got a fancy night out. Not a once a week venue for me, but for a special occasion a good place to enjoy dining.
Incredible service. Delicious food. Amazing experience. Highly recommend.
Excellent service. Knowledgeable staff. We learned interesting facts about the historic building and Lexington in general. Amazing eclectic atmosphere. Great drink recommendations from our server. The milk-clarified bourbon was a delight. Highly recommend the Temper Tantrum. The blend of flavors in the entrees was just the right balance of interesting and familiar. Be sure to visit the art galleries while you are there. Going to 21c and The Lockbox is like escaping from the grind without buying airline tickets. You should go.
Early Valentine’s Day dinner. It was really good! We both started with nice bourbon cocktails. I usually get the temper tantrum which I really like, but since it was cold outside, I went with the bourbon. We shared the endive salad & the octopus to start. I liked the octopus, but was more impressed with the endive salad. I hope it stays on the menu. For my entree I had the tile fish on top of beans with some chorizo. My husband got the squid ink pasta with shrimp. We were both happy and took some of it home so we could share a dessert. I also enjoyed a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc & recommend it. We liked our olive oil cake for dessert. Our waiter was extremely helpful and took good care of us.
Food and service were very good, as always. It was very cold in the restaurant.
We had a remarkable dining experience. Our server, Zepher, was great at ushering us through everything. They were able to accommodate a few special requests. Highly recommend for a fine dining experience.
I had a Supper meeting at 7:30pm, we meet for a cocktail at 7. The bartender was very nice and helpful to us making our selection. We went with one of the fine bourbons while we talked at the bar. When our table was ready the hospitality got our attention and escorted us to our table. She chose a table on the end where we would be comfortable continuing our business discussion. We chose Silver Oak for our wine, roasted oysters for our first coarse, mixed lettuces salad second and the Cast-Iron Hog Chop to finish. Everything and Everyone was just perfect! Breakfast the next morning was an equal pleasant start for the day.
