Lockbox at 21c Hotel
Lunch: Monday-Friday: 11:00am-2:00pm
Dinner: Monday - Thursday: 5:30pm - 10:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 5:30pm - 11:00pm, Sunday: 5:30pm - 9:00pm
The food was good, but the service was not. I did not order coffee and I was served a cup. One of my guests did not receive his food...seems the server had not written the order clearly or the kitchen did not follow through. The server was made aware after we waited 10 minutes, thinking that it was coming. He rushed to the kitchen and soon after the order arrived. Unfortunately, the kitchen was in too much of a hurry and left egg shells in the food.
I was comped for that dish, but it still ruined the event. Also, long wait for the bottomless mimosa to arrive.
We chose Lockbox to celebrate my birthday this year. The ambiance, vibe and appetizers were outstanding. However, somehow our table was sandwiched between two large parties and we had to wait over an hour for our entrees. Our server said this was the reason for our wait which didn’t make us feel better. My moms dish was cold, the table beside us sent their food back and the service, overall, was lackluster.
We had a great meal. The wine selection went well with our meal. Service was excellent.
I am a huge fan and follower of all of the 21c hotel properties and restaurants. Lockbox in Lexington is definitely one of my favorites. The dining room is spacious and beautiful. The service is excellent. The food is fresh, flavorful, and creative. I have never had a bad meal here. Definitely put this on your list!
Great food - short ribs and scallops were divine. Great cocktails!
Overall good experience. Menu is limited and staff was polite, but slow.
I attended the Sunday Supper benefitting No Kid Hungry and it was excellent. The fried chicken was the best I’ve ever had and I would have easily paid $45 for the appetizer and incredible sides alone. Service was great as well. Lockbox continues to be the best restaurant in Lexington!
Great service and delicious food. Was a wonderful stop before our concert at Rupp Arena.
We had and early dinner before a. Show. The service was great and food spectacular. The portion sizes are perfect - I didn't want leftovers since we weren't going straight home. Overall, a great experience from start to finish.
Good all around.
I’d like to recommend Lockbox - our dining experiences at 21c Louisville’s Proof have been fantastic - but our service was abhorrent. We were an obvious inconvenience to our waiter, whose care of his only table had to be teased out, requesting each cup of coffee and refilled drink. ‘May we have more coffee’ was met with a pot of coffee slammed down on the table after twenty minutes of empty cups. Our table was still sticky from previous service, and my chair was covered in syrup (it remains to be seen if my clothing can be salvaged). The area around our table had clearly not been swept since dinner service the night previous. The gluten free request we made when we made the reservation elicited an ‘I’ll ask the chef what we can do about you.’ We’ve been fans of 21c’s presence in Lexington since before it was established, and it’s a supreme disappointment to have a better brunch experience at Waffle House. The bar was a mixed bag - mimosas were good, but the Bloody Mary was undrinkable (a decent waiter at a 3+ star hotel restaurant would’ve asked why one sip was all my wife could handle). A great food performance by the kitchen salvaged one extra star. 2/5, and a call to hotel management.
Cocktails are great and the food was good but not as good as other restaurants in the area at the same price point. We were celebrating a birthday so I called ahead and asked if they could surprise the birthday girl with ice cream and a candle after our dinner and they agreed, but that never happened after we waited around a bit. Disappointing experience
Thanksgiving Dinner was perfect from apps to dessert. And plenty of leftovers, too. Why cook when you can dine in style at Lockbox
We felt like the service was much better last year. Our waiter was fine, but they didn't replace dirty forks before main meal , there were no spoons to stir tea, and there were no plates for the bread brought before the meal. We had to wait quite a while before ordering our mail. We would also like to see some healthier options made available. We love the valet parking! Thanks!!
Amazing food and service. Don’t miss the opportunity to eat here
Classy and knowledgable service, modern ambiance, and world class food with local flare. A favorite place to go for a exceptionally nice dinner out.
Not pleased with this place only thing that was good was the food when we finally got... which was so it so late. Disappointed with service overall atmosphere and level of professionalism
The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The service was wonderful and the food delicious.
Very creative menu made mostly from local ingredients. Would highly recommend LockBox to anyone who is food adventurous. Thanks for making my birthday dinner so memorable!!
It is an interesting menu with well prepared dishes. The problem with Lockbox is the service. Unfortunately, Lexington doesn’t know how to properly train wait staff. One person took dirty silverware off of an appetizer plate and laid it back down on the table. Our plates should’ve been served together and cleared together, but everything was brought to the table and cleared from the table in a half hazard manner. The drinks and food are pricey and the atmosphere is very upscale. I would expect impeccable service to match the food and atmosphere. Our waiter was fine and knowledgeable. However, if you are going to tout fine dining, I would like for the service to match.
We were in Lexington for a wedding. A group of 8 of us wanted to eat here. We were told they couldn’t seat us together so we were shocked that we were put in the private dining room that is a old bank vault. It was amazing!!! Great ambiance, food and service. This restaurant is very happening. The short ribs were to die for. The pimento Mac and cheese was incredible. The jar appetizer was so good. I highly recommend this. Artwork is also interesting.
I went here to celebrate my 30th birthday and I couldn’t be happier with my choice! Everyone was very attentive, warm, and nice. We had a little snafu with entrees (they were delivered to the wrong table), but they went above and beyond to make it right. They brought us pimento cheese and crackers to snack on while they made our entrees and offered to comp a few items. The entrees were out in no time, and they were so delicious we didn’t mind waiting!
All of the food was fantastic. We started with the ham & cheddar hush puppies and pork cheeks (I wish I could eat those right now!). The scallop entree was divine.
I’m excited to go back and try more of the menu!
Seated late for a reservation, but spent time at bar for a pre-dinner cocktail which was a great experience. After being finally seated our server disappeared for 15 minutes before returning. The wine selected was not available so had to make a substitution and one of our party order a cocktail vs. wine. Our appetizers arrived (t least 20 minutes after ordering) before the cocktail was delivered - after multiple requests. Hot appetizers arrived cold, so obviously had been sitting waiting for delivery to table. Entree's were disappointing. Server appeared more interested in speaking with hostess vs customers, resulting in a very long dinner, cold food and a disappointing experience.
The dishes were varied and interesting. We had several starters and they were combinations of foods that none of us had previously had. No one was disappointed. Both the fish and meat entrees that my companions had got excellent revues and two of my three small tapas selections were superb. The root vegetable selection although beautifully prepared missed. Management immediately took it off the bill and offered a dessert gratis. They truly bent over backwards to make sure we were pleased. I look forward to our next visit.
First visit, having visited several other 21C properties. Very enjoyable. Wait staff very attentive. No problem allowing us to split an entrée. Food very good. Will return.
The food was amazing, beautiful, modern and calm restaurant. Highly recommend
Waited 1 hr for food... had to leave and hit fast food. Hugely disappointing!
Great food, great space - always a win for a fantastic meal.
We LOVED Lockbox at 21C. It exceeded all of our expectations. We will go back!
Great place for new takes on southern classics. Good for a special occasion, or also just for a quick regular bite. The big space means it can be a bit noisy, but it still has a great vibe. Price-quality ratio is really excellent.
Menu was limited. Food preparation was good.
Great menu with unique items. Appetizers are limited and overpriced. Main course choices were great!
Went with a group of 5 for dinner. Took 2 hours to get our main course!
Birthday - was mentioned in reservation. No acknowledgment or offer for a complimentary dessert.
Service and food were great as always. Seems like could do something with Atmosphere the way the room is set up.
My wife and I always love coming to Lockbox for our date-nights. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is very nice.
It’s also great to browse the art gallery since by the time we’re done eating most of the other galleries in town are closed.
I would (and have) recommended Lockbox.
First visit there and so impressed! Everything made in house from bread and butter pickles to saltine crackers. The mini pots appetizer plate was delicious. Best biscuits in town! Fish entrees were so creative and flavorful. The chicken dish just plain elevated chicken to a new level. Creative, not fussy, celebrates the taste of the dishes. Loved this meal, would highly recommend!
Birthday and it was wonderful!
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, and wonderful service. We eat at Lockbox often and have never been disappointed. Zephyr is an incredible server, very knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails, makes you want to keep coming back!
Excellent as always ❤️!
