Lockbox at 21c Hotel
Our server was nearly lifeless and had the energy and personality of a chair. Seriously, the server seemed depressed and wanting to be anywhere else but there. The food was decent but not overwhelming especially for the price. Glad I went, but won't go back.
The food was remarkably good. The service was a bit sluggish.
I loved our experience at Lockbox. The food was delicious and service was timely and efficient. The entire atmosphere set the scene for a romantic date night with my husband. The braised short rib and NY Strip Steak were cooked to perfection and the Fried Lemon Pie was outstanding! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great food. Less then professional service. Shrimp and grits were excellent and so was the eggs Benedict.
Had dinner on Saturday before the game, food was great, great staff. Had an even better brunch experience. Food choices for all types of pallets, Cant wait to return.
I normally don’t give bad reviews, however our experience at lockbox should be noted. The service was very poor, and unprofessional For a moderately high end restaurant. Our main course took 20 min. After we finished our salad we had to ask our server to check on our food. The steak was cold and the scallops were full of grit or sand. We don’t recommend Lockbox.
Tasty food, nice ambience and excellent service. What more can one ask for.
Excellent food. The macaroni was huge! Love the cocktails!
It was just OK. I would not go back again. The steak was dry and lobster was stringy. The atomosphere was great.
It was fantastic, from tip to stern it was magnificent
Great food, service, and the space is absolutely beautiful inside the 21c Hotel. 10/10 Would recommend.
Fantastic flavor with each item we had. Portion sizes were more than adequate, especially the mac and cheese! Absolutely loved the ambiance, and the accompanying free 2 story art gallery. Perfect for a romantic date night in the Bluegrass! Will be coming back!
Great all around, staff knowledgeable and attentive
Service as usual was aloof and inattentive. The only reason I dined there was horrible weather and most places were closed. As this type of service here is common I have stopped going to this restaurant in general.
Enjoyable Sunday brunch. The selections were nice. Our eggs Benedict and toffee cake dessert were served in an iron skillet which I thought was an interesting and fun presentation. The space is light and bright.
LOVED IT! I took my parents for brunch and everything was so fresh and delicious. And the whole vibe of the restaurant overall is amazing. I will be going back. Again. And again.
My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and wanted a fancy Sunday brunch. The service was incredibly slow. We received our appetizer in 20 minutes, but our meal didn't arrive for 45 minutes from the time we ordered. My breakfast sandwich was cold, tasteless, and thrown onto a plate without any consideration for presentation. The eggs benedict were served in a skillet, which seemed odd. They were covered in a mixture of greens that seemed like an afterthought so again, little thought toward presentation. Interesting for an "art" hotel.
Our server barely checked on us and we had to flag someone down for more water and more coffee multiple times. A table near us was never cleared and sat with dirty dishes on it for the entire time we were there, even though there were only 5 other tables in the restaurant and it was passed by the server and host multiple times without a glance (as if "That's not MY job to clean that".)
I also found the tables and chairs less than appealing, again considering the design aesthetic of the rest of the hotel. We were actually still so hungry and frustrated we went somewhere else for a second brunch and hour later. $50 for slow service and cold, tasteless food - that didn't even include alcohol since it was before 11:00 am. Will not return and would not recommend.
I wanted to take my wife to a nice healthy meal. We had the warm olives for appetizer, they were amazing. We shared a beet salad, it was great. For dinner she got the the fish and I got the chicken, which was amazing. We shared a bottle of wine and did have the chocolate for dessert. I would totally recommend this place. The waiter and staff were all very good.
There were only 4 tables occupied in entire restaurant and it took far too long to get a salad and soup out. Brussel sprout appetizer was good. My friend like cobb salad and I did not like the "soup" special. Soup was more of a stew and way too spicey. It also had a big chunk of fat in it that I had to spit out. If Lockbox does not step it up, they will go out of business. There are far too many really good choices in downtown Lexington. Finally, lots of workers (?) walking around dining room not appropriately attired for white table cloth restaurant. It felt like they could care less if we were there and there was no recognition of birthday celebration as I had indicated on reservation.
This was a fantastic experience.
We had been the 21c hotel restaurants in Louisville and Cincinnati and wanted to try this one and it did not disappoint. You must try the country ham and cheese hush puppies.
Unique ambiance. Delicious food. Wonderful service. Only downside is table arrangement; uncomfortably close to neighboring tables (similar to Cheesecake Factory seating).
Have eaten here several times and always been happy!
Fantastic service, delicious food, good wine, very cool space
Dinner at Lockbox was great, in general. My boyfriend and I ordered a wedge salad, beef salad, the NYE lobster tail, and the short rib. All of the food was fantastic, but the service wasn’t quite as on point as I’d expected. When greeting the table our server began asking about water, and included “still or sparkling” in her verbiage. I asked for sparkling, but she had apparently meant wine? So I ended up paying for a glass of sparkling wine when I’d wanted a cocktail instead (though my boyfriend ended up drinking it). The servers were not incredibly attentive, but I will say that we were cleared promptly, my water glass was never empty, and they re-silvered promptly. Overall it was a good experience, and I’ll be happy to dine there again.
New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Fantastic all around. Tickled they had a Prix Fixe Menu and their regular menu available. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Large protein portions made for a great brunch on New Year’s Day. We all loved it!
Excellent meal from start to finish. Both prime rib and lobster tail were delicious.
I love the experience -- great chefs who know how to blend flavors and make the meal memorable. Haven't tried anything there that I didn't truly enjoy. Service is great, ambiance is great, perfect for a special occasion.
Although on Christmas Eve, our server was very busy, she was very attentive and accommodating. We split a chicken dish and had a couple appetizers . . . quantities of the food was more than enough to prompt us to take some for dinner the next evening. The seasoning on the chicken and other dishes was just right and the chicken was moist and flavorful. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone and we plan on returning soon.
Great experience and food. Thank you.
We were only there for a lunch, therefore I cannot comment on many of these items. However, for the two hours we were there, it was a good spot to celebrate our daughter's birthday and have some good conversation. We will be glad to recommend it to anyone for this kind of thing and we will be back for more celebrations in the future. We especially liked that the music was muted and the restaurant was quiet enough for conversation. The service was very good. Thank you
The food was good, but the service was not. I did not order coffee and I was served a cup. One of my guests did not receive his food...seems the server had not written the order clearly or the kitchen did not follow through. The server was made aware after we waited 10 minutes, thinking that it was coming. He rushed to the kitchen and soon after the order arrived. Unfortunately, the kitchen was in too much of a hurry and left egg shells in the food.
I was comped for that dish, but it still ruined the event. Also, long wait for the bottomless mimosa to arrive.
We chose Lockbox to celebrate my birthday this year. The ambiance, vibe and appetizers were outstanding. However, somehow our table was sandwiched between two large parties and we had to wait over an hour for our entrees. Our server said this was the reason for our wait which didn’t make us feel better. My moms dish was cold, the table beside us sent their food back and the service, overall, was lackluster.
We had a great meal. The wine selection went well with our meal. Service was excellent.
I am a huge fan and follower of all of the 21c hotel properties and restaurants. Lockbox in Lexington is definitely one of my favorites. The dining room is spacious and beautiful. The service is excellent. The food is fresh, flavorful, and creative. I have never had a bad meal here. Definitely put this on your list!
Great food - short ribs and scallops were divine. Great cocktails!
Overall good experience. Menu is limited and staff was polite, but slow.
I attended the Sunday Supper benefitting No Kid Hungry and it was excellent. The fried chicken was the best I’ve ever had and I would have easily paid $45 for the appetizer and incredible sides alone. Service was great as well. Lockbox continues to be the best restaurant in Lexington!
Great service and delicious food. Was a wonderful stop before our concert at Rupp Arena.
We had and early dinner before a. Show. The service was great and food spectacular. The portion sizes are perfect - I didn't want leftovers since we weren't going straight home. Overall, a great experience from start to finish.
