Every single course of our seven-course meal was on point, perfectly cooked. My wife couldn't eat a few of the ingredients so a few of her courses were made to accommodate, and her meal was exceptional as well. The service was excellent. We were sitting next to the open kitchen, and I was impressed how calm they all were! Not frantic, no yelling.
Fun and different dining experience. Great addition to the Sacrament food scene.
The 7 course Chef menu was outstanding. Chris and his staff outdid themselves. We have always had amazing dinners at Localis, but last night was over the top. We brought a friend with us and as we were driving home he said he loved the dinner and sitting at the counter was an amazing experience. He's a widower and is somewhat uncomfortable going to fine dining restaurants by himself...but, not anymore.....at least at Localis.
Interesting and excellent dishes. Loved the grilled octopus, duck l’orange, and Wagyu steak with truffle sauce. Enjoyed the wine pairing too. Only disappointment was the puff pastry in the cauliflower first course. We would definitely go again.
Pet peeve: especially at a high priced and elegant restaurant! The waiter continually interrupted deep conversation during the meal to see if we needed anything. This also included once while having food and the fork in my mouth. As though that was a check box that needed checking by the server. It is remarkable easy, in such a restaurant, to signal the waiter if something is needed. Waiters should be largely invisible and observant for such signals for assistance and never interrupt simply because a certain amount of time has passed between touches.
It was an amazing dinner - the service was
Slow - took about 30 mins to get our wine when we sat down. Food was amazing. The chef is a genius. But service could have been a lot better.
The food on the Chef’s Tasting menu was absolutely amazing. Who knew that carrots could be so delicious! Service was great. The restaurant was a little cozy, but noise was never an issue.
Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, a romantic date night, or just for a great meal.
Most exciting foodie Valentine’s Date in 10yrs together was so worth the splurge! I did the wine pairings & was very impressed with how perfect they were paired Smh how they enhanced each other especially with the rabbit & dessert dishes. We skipped getting xtra caviar on the 1st course but we both got fresh truffle shavings on our beef dish and got our first fix. Neither of us would get truffle shavings again unless the chef or reviews overwhelmingly say that it enhanced the dish.
Dessert-the dessert wine pairing was the bomb. The dried orange was too bitter but otherwise beautiful dessert.
VIP YOU MUST CONFIRM RESERVATION THE DAY BEFORE OR YOU WILL BE CANCELLED!!!! I almost lost mine because I didn’t!
I’d go back for only very special occasions as it is pricy!! But so worth the experience. It was fun to sit at Chef’s counter but very noisy. Staff very friendly! Not a snooty vibe at all!
Always interesting food that tastes great. A unique setup in a small place but it makes for a lively dining experience.
WOW. This place lived up to the hype. Absolutely delicious food. Everything we had was incredible, from the grilled bread to the perfectly flavored crunchy Thai salad to the duck breast. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching all of the magic happen in the open kitchen. Service was a bit discombobulated—twice the chef himself had to remind our server to give us appropriate silverware, and they brought over the wrong wine. Nonetheless a fabulous meal and we’ll be sure to return.
We had so much fun at Localis. The vibe was upbeat and playful. Staff and guests were friendly. We enjoyed the seven-course paired chef's menu immensely. We didn't feel rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed every bite and sip. Can't wait to go back.
True Farm to Fork. Excellent preparation, beautifully presented Chef’s tasting menu!
We tried came in for our 3 year anniversary, by this time it’s been our 5th visit, and have had only the best service, food, and drinks we could find in Sacramento! We’re always blown away by Chef Chris’ wine recommendations, the octopus, tapas, and of course (our favorite thing) the 7 course tasting (DO THE WINE PAIRING!!). Will always be one of our favorite spots!
The food was wonderful. The wine pairing was perfect. They accommodated 2 vegetarians for the chefs tasting menu (with advance notice) in addition to 4 with no dietary restrictions. The entire party had a great time. I will definitely be back.
An amazing experience that anyone who is looking for a true farm to fork dinner should try once at least. Everything was tasty and beautiful. The wine pairings were spot-on. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. Could not have been better. Highly recommended!
I brought my son for his birthday and he said it was his best birthday dinner yet. My son, his girlfriend and I enjoyed everything about the experience and my son especially enjoyed the 7 course tasking menu. The food was amazing, balanced, great sauces, texture combinations, etc., and so beautiful to look at. The octopus appetizer was so good that we ordered two. Anyway, Karly, our server, was a delight and made our evening even more special. Karly was super knowledgeable, professional and charming.
Again, we had the best experience. We cannot wait to come back again.
What a fantastic restaurant! The top notch service is only matched by the amazing meals!
A wonderful atmosphere with wonderful service. The 5 course chef sampler was creative. His ability to combine eloquent textures, colors and flavors was a treat for the eyes and taste pallet. The wagu beef was one of the best pieces of meat I’ve ever enjoyed.
The restaurant emphasises their wine pairings as part of the dining experience. As the waitress presented the food, couldn’t tell us about the food without having to tell us how the wine is part of the taste experience. We don’t drink alcohol. My only complaint is, this food should be presented as a stand alone for its own quality.
This place is exceptional. Most creative, inspired, and delicious menu and zero pretension. A rare gem.
Oddly, Chef wasn’t in, and the restaurant was still in full swing with excellent food and service. Brought in a first timer and they truly enjoyed it.
I love this place. It’s one of my favorites in Sacramento. Tonight’s meal wasn’t up to their usual level. I may have chosen wrong. I got the tapas (fair), crabmeat pasta (again fair). I will say the octopus is amazing. I’m guessing the scallops are as well. Next time
We had another amazing dining experience at Localis. We enjoyed and experienced some of the most amazing food we have ever had. Worth every $ with a visible staff of 10 preparing each dish. Chef Christopher has brought a whole new level of pairing food with wine, not the usual wine paired with food. Mind officially blown!
Great date night. Food was delicious and gluten free for me.
This was probably one of the top 3 best meals I’ve had in Sacramento. The wine pairings were great but a tad pricey. The tasting menu for two people, with wine pairings, came out to about $525 after tax and tip.
Localis never disappoints! Hands down my favorite
Photos never do this food justice, it’s so much more beautiful in person! You’ll just have to make a reservation and see it with your own eyes. The latest tasting menu (1/20/20) is the best one yet, you really don’t want to miss it. The flavors are bold while still nuanced and as always, expertly balanced. The aromas from each course are seductive. Each plate has a variety of texture which add to the interest and delight of the experience. And of course the overall experience is one of decadent relaxation. Warm welcoming and knowledgeable front of house team set you at ease with their joy and passion for the food and beverages they serve. From the second you walk in the door you will feel the happy, passionate and positive vibes. Good vibes. Good food. Good services is the Localis mantra and they are delivering these at their highest level execution yet.
Best restaurant in Sacramento if not the Bay Area. Outstanding food creations, friendly, knowledgeable staff. We cherish our meals at this restaurant gem.
Best dinner in a long time - must have the gin and tonic - delightful
Very impressed by my experience. Had gotten a phone call the day before to discuss dietary restrictions of one member of our party. Enjoyed a nice phone conversation with a very knowledgeable person. Surprised to find that the host and wait staff knew what we had discussed including who I was meeting and the occasion. We tried many of the recommendations and everyone was very satisfied with the food. Portions were very generous and shareable. Clearly an upmarket experience but very friendly at the same time. We are all looking forward to our next visit!
Amazing food and service It's a bit pricey but their food is worth it. They have tasting menu that changes every month inspired by head chef. I highly recommend sitting at the bar open kitchen to see the magician chefs at work.
Amazing food experience. Congratulations to the chief and his staff!!
What can I say? Perfection. The meal was delicious and I can't wait to go back.
The lamb was simply Superb as was the octopus appetizer. my fish was just OK. It was perfectly cooked but it had very little flavor over the quinoa. Fantastic “ into the green” mezcal cocktail and excellent French Croze- Hermitage. Marvelous service
The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The food was incredible and very thought out.
Our waitress was nice but left us hanging for a while for drinks. One of the meals was overly salted, and I say this as someone who generally who loves salt. Ambiance was good and was romantic.
The citrus menu missed the mark.
Some of the pairings were not very good. Food was OK not outstanding same with service
