Lobster Shop South
The Lobster Shop restaurants have been operating since 1977, offering some of the Pacific Northwest’s favorite seafood dishes.
The restaurant sits over the waters of Commencement Bay, offering breathtaking views of both Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountain Range.
During the summer months the restaurant offers outdoor dining and with a dock available for boaters, makes for an excellent day getaway.
Lobster Shop has always been the place where the South Sound loves to celebrate; whether a birthday, anniversary or promotion you just can't beat the atmosphere.
Annually rated by the well known Zagat Survey, Lobster Shop takes a great deal of pride in making sure that every experience is a memorable one. We look forward to serving you soon.
Excellent brunch with great quality and variety. Good selection of local seafood. Will definitely do this again.
Very pleasant. Waiter was excellent(Justin)I believe
Thanks for a lovely evening..
A great place to celebrate a birthday or any special occasion.
Birthday was the event and the Lobster Shop did not disappoint, we where seated immediately, the staff was great , the food wonderful and the view amazing. Which is way we will go back there again and again
Our waiter was amazingly attentive during our dinner. He conveyed my preference for my scallops to be just barely done and they came out perfectly. Usually only get 4 scallops at restaurants but generous serving of at least 6 plump scallops.
Crab stuffed halibut also perfectly done but my husband said his steak was under seasoned /tasteless and prawns were really overdone. Inspire ifvthat, we will still return!
Our evening started out with an excellent server. He was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He made excellent recommendations of drinks and food based on our preferences. The drinks were good, pretty standard, but that's ok. The food was outstanding and a great value compared to Seattle restaurants. Our table had a very enjoyable evening.
Service was warm and friendly they were able to seat us a little earlier than our reservation
WE HAD A WONDERFUL LUNCH CELEBRATING MY MOTHER IN LAWS 81ST BIRTHDAY! WE SAT AT THE CORNER TABLE WITH AMAZING VIEWS AND SEALS PLAYING IN THE SOUND. ALL 4 OF US ORDERED THE SALMON NICOLE SALAD AND EAT THE ENTIRE MEAL! THE SALMON WAS PERFECTLY COOKED AND THE DRESSING WAS FABULOUS. GREAT COCKTAILS (THEY SPECIALLY STUFFED MY MOTHER IN LAWS MARTINI OLIVES WITH BLEU CHEESE!) THE BIRTHDAY GIRL WAS TREATED TO AN ICE CREAM SUNDAE. GREAT, ATTENTIVE SERVICE! DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK.
We went out for our anniversary and had a fabulous meal and new drinks. Delicious food and beverage
Our sever Justin was great but the food was terrible. My husband and I both ordered medium rare New York steak with prawns. When we got our steaks they were blue and had no flavor. Really disappointing.
We had a nice table for 5... they didn't try to cram us into a 4 top. The service was very good; our waiter was attentive but not to "cute" or overbearing. He did his job well. The Food was also top notch. Parking was good too. We will be back.
Brunch is always outstanding. A little pricey....but worth every bite!
Great Bloody Mary while we were waiting for our reservation. Surprisingly great food which was creative and really tasty. Highly recommend the mussels Rockefeller. The shucker did s great job with the oysters on the half shell also. Great service and friendly staff! A really great date night.
We enjoyed our dinner so much.It was my wife’s birthday and was very special.Tina was our waitress and was magnificent!
Thank you and we’ll be back!
The service was outstanding! We had the Lobster dip - truly delicious. I had the twilight salmon dinner and it was wonderful. Always a great experience at the Lobster Shop.
The service was not up to Lobster shop expectations. Waitress seemed distracted the whole night. many times we sat as she walked back and forth to other tables. She was unfamiliar with Wine list. I asked if they had a Zinfandel by the glass she said no bu they had Riesling. I said it was a red, and she did not know.
Fortunately the service was outdone by the unbelievable Salmon dinner.
We define the Lobster Shop South one of our favorite restaurants. The food is usually great and the prices are fair. It is a nice place for a special occasion meal. Their staff is pleasant and they do not try rushing through your meal. Their brunch on Sundays in our opinion is one of the best in our area. When we are in town for our birthdays and anniversary, we eat there. We also eat at their associated restaurant Boathouse 19 as well their food and staff there has the same professionalism and respect for the customer even though Boathouse 19 is a little more casual
The food was outstanding . We were very pleased with the food and drinks. The server was very professional and attentive. We love this place!!
Wait staff was amazing! Food was not as good as the price might indicate. Lobster was a bit overdone, crab cakes tasted of the oil they were cooked in.
Salads, soups as beverages were very good. Dining ambiance and view from the table was excellent.
Will give them another try with different menu items : )
The view is spectacular. Unfortunately, the food is fair and pricey. I had lunch here with friends and we had excellent service. However, I went for dinner with family and the service was very slow and poor.
Drink service slow and our food was barely warm..so disappointing....for New Years Eve.
We’ve always enjoyed the Lobster Shop for the view ( outstanding ) and the service. The food is a hit or miss for us. This trip on New Year’s Eve unfortunately was the same. My wife really liked her Chicken Cremini, my dish on the other hand was not good. I had the jumbo prawns, they were overcooked and cold. Not sure how they managed that but they did, and tasteless, I didn’t finish it. It kills me to write this but management needs to know. A manager was on the floor that night and I should have told him then. We will always go back to the Lobster Shop in hopes that they will try a little harder next time. Still one of our favorite restaurants.
I reserved a table for 6 for New Years Eve 7 weeks in advance....unfortunately our table was definitely added to the room to “squeeze” in another table. My husband asked the hostess why we were put at the kids table. We were right in the aisle - and there was a draft blowing through our table all night. Very disappointing-and we will not go back. We complained twice and were told there was nothing that could be done.
Food was good. Expected it to be much better. Lobster carbonara didn't have bacon in it. We were comped a desert for that mistake. Additon of shrimp to our order was cold and lacked flavor.
Got the seafood plank trio. Salmon was very soft and below avg flavor. Prawns were good/ok. Not a lot of flavor. Lobster good. Best we’re the apps. Crab cakes, Brie and mushrooms. All were very good. Server was good and very helpful. Have been here before and quality seems to have gone down.
Gone to Lobster Shop for 30 years. Always a great experience. Have never had a bad experience.
Our most favorite water front place in Tacoma.
Great cocktails Wonderfull dinner the server went above and beyond.
The clam chowder is always a favorite.
The lobster is cooked to perfection.
Very nice we enjoyed the brunch.
Best Sunday brunch in Western Washington. Outstanding customer service, the food variety was amazing, and delicious.
Really good and abundant food - amazing choice and good and attentive service
We were celebrating an anniversary and had a lovely table by the window. The food was amazing and ambiance delightful. Our server was very good, however, due to the crowd service was a bit slow. I would still recommend for a special occasion.
While we were waiting for our lunch orders, we were able to watch sea lions feeding in the Sound. Very entertaining.
I ordered the Caesar salad and lobster melt combo. Was very tasty and plenty of food and our server was very pleasant.
We all had a very enjoyable lunch.
Christmas at The Lobster Shop. So good. They had a tasting menu that provided everything I wanted and was so tasty. Service was amazing. They made our evening. Definitely recommend for any day & especially special occasions.
My family went for Christmas dinner. Reservation was required. The prices were a bit high, but it was worth it. We started off with the lobster dip...yummy! My husband had the prime rib and I had the 3-course lobster duo. The kids had chowder and a mushroom chicken dish. At the end we saved room for a delicious brownie dessert that was big enough for all four of us. The appetizer, entrees, dessert and cocktails were well worth the $212 bill! We plan to go back!
Our waitress Rachel was so friendly and nice which made our dining experience that much better I didn’t know what Oscar meant so the two little bites of lobster did not satisfy my taste buds but the steak was excellent I guess I’ll have to come back to get a lobster tail The lobster dip and Lobster stuffed mushrooms were excellent
We went for Christmas early dinner and it was very enjoyable
Was a last minute decision to have Christmas dinner out, glad I made the reservations!! Will book earlier next year for sure! The food was just amazing! I am still thinking about it when someone asks me about my Christmas!! The service was impeccable! Very thankful that the staff was there on this holiday to serve others. All staff members that we dealt with were wonderful. Happy & gracious while working and being away from their families. THANK YOU! My son and I enjoyed our dinner with you!! :)
We were excited to dine here since we thoroughly enjoyed their buffet. The waitress was pleasant but overall was not good as a server. Upfront we asked for separate checks. Said certainly, no worries. She took our drink orders. I noticed the table next to us, who was seated after us and had the same waitress, received their drinks about 5 minutes before us. When we did receive our drinks, virgin strawberry daiquiri, it was wrong. When we placed our order, there was 4 of us, one ordered the sampler menu asking for her prime rib to be medium-well. When she received her meal, the prime rib appeared more to medium-rare, which is how I like it. She sent it back with no issues. When it returned it appeared the cook placed it under a broiler. The outside was over-cooked now. The meat was dry and tough.
The server had the manager stop by who promptly apologized and took the meal off the check. She then asked if she may order desert which was actually included. The manager said of course and also offered coffee at no charge. I too ordered desert, Creme Brulee, as she did too. She wasn't aware the creme brulee was a different flavor, espresso. Her boyfriend ate it as she asked for the normal creme brulee. The server returned and said I got the last one. Mind you it is now only 4:00 pm. How can they be out is what we thought. So now comes the check, all on one. We had to remind her we asked for two separate checks. She of course promptly took care of it and for the problem waived our coffee.
We were not looking for anything to be waived or free. This was Christmas Day, we just wanted a pleasant afternoon with a delicious meal.
I will say my Cedar Plank Salmon was delicious.
We agreed we will never dine there again unless it is for the buffet. Their buffet is incredible and well worth the $$.
Service was just outstanding. Timely food delivery along with very well versed waitress, Bethany. She has a great attitude and is very helpful answering questions about the menu.
For the price the food could be better. My medium rare prime rib was tough, really tough. Don't think I would order it again. This was on Christmas and was the expensive dinner. The shrimp were rubbery - the bacon around them was good. Shrimp get rubbery when they are over cooked.
