I’ve only been for brunch, but both times it was a great experience all around!
We were celebrating our anniversary. We ordered steamed clams - several didn’t open and could not be consumed. Next came Lobster Bisque- it was mediocre. We’ve had better. Main course was halibut which was terrible because it was so salty. We advised our server to let the chef know. We ordered a crab cake add on to share which was flavored too heavily with some unidentifiable seasoning that killed any hint of crab. We also ordered a 12 oz. Maine lobster tail to share which was the best part of the meal. It was good. Our server surprised us with ice cream with a candle in it for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. No complaints on service, just the food.
Great dinner although our lobster was rather on the lukewarm side......not so much that we opted to send it back, however. Our waitress Thyna was great. Nice personality and very attentive!
Gluten free crab cakes are really good
Gluten free flourless chocolate cake was amazing
Lobster cooked to perfection
Had a great dinner accompanied by great service. The restaurant was quiet enough for easy conversation and the view was great.
Dianne, our server took excellent care of us. It was
a special birthday celebration for my partner!
Excellent food (seafood tastes not overpowered by garlic and sauces). Very accommodating staff. Very enjoyable experience.
Was there to celebrate my anniversary. Ordered:
Drinks: blueberry lemondrop was very good. The pomegranate mojito was horrible. All you can taste is the alcohol and no pomegranate juice;
Appetizer: Ahi Tuna (appetizer) which was really good;
Entree: 12 oz Maine lobster, wasn't that great. Lacked flavor therefore you have to really drenched it in their butter. Thought this was what their known for hence the name "Lobster Shop"I had better elsewhere.
Very disappointed in the service and some of the food. They messed up our reservation, the server was inattentive (3 requests to get the mediocre bread), and they did not have some standard seafood items. Shrimp Cocktail "oh we're out of that." Fresh raw oysters "oh we don't have any and it's not the season (wrong, September is an R month and they're fine). Friends liked their Maine lobster but when they asked for additional butter, it came cold. Our crab cakes were small and looked frozen and shaped from a round cutter. The server seemed overwhelmed and began making excuses "I burned my hand..." We were embarrassed because these were college friend who are well-traveled foodies, wine lovers and cooks. We wanted to show them one of Tacoma's few good restaurants, having been there many times. We are done.
We were celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary. We wanted a restaurant that had a great menu, including a twilight menu option, a good selecton of wines and mixed drinks, a super view of the Puget Sound znd Mt Rainier, with a quiet ambiance for intimate conversation. The Lobster Shop on Rustin Way met all of our expectations!
Very good service will definitely be back to experience the rest of the menu
There were two flies flying around our table and all the other tables around us. I went to a diner once and that happened and I never went back. The food was good, the service was great but this restaurant is too expensive to share my food with flies. Also, the shortcake part of the strawberry shortcake was dry and inedible.
Great Sunday Buffet with great views of Commencement Bay!
My wife and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at Lobster Shop and loved it (as always). This was our first time dining in the main restaurant area — we normally join for an early Happy Hour in the bar. Our server, Named Honor, did a fantastic job recommending food choices and was very attentive the entirety of our meal.
We would highly recommend this spot for casual afternoons with a breathtaking view of the Bay or for celebrating any special occasion!
Best meal we have had since moving to the area.
always a great place to meet friends. the service was great, and it's quiet enough to have real conversation. spectacular view and the food was good.
Our meal was outstanding, everything was delicious and Bethany our waitress was amazing and took extremely good care of us. The manager even put on the WSU football game so we could see it from our table. I really enjoyed our meal and you can absolutely count on me to recommend the Lobster Shop to my friends. You will see us again real soon.
It was a nice dinner for mutt write and I. We had a nice dinner and the place was comfy and quiet at the time. The waitress was very attentive and the food was in good time and look/taste delicious.
My husband loved his salmon but I was very disappointed with my prawns. They arrived only luke-warm. After awhile we were able to get our waitress's attention and she took the plate back and it was replaced with prawns and mashed potatoes that were warm enough, however the flavor was lacking: both were quite bland.
We will be back because we love the setting, but I'll be sure and order something else.
The food was excellent and so was the service. Our waiter Sean B was exceptional.
My husband and I had just returned from a long trip and wanted to have a nice dinner. We were able to get reservations. The food was really good. It's a seafood restaurant. The fish was fresh, cooked as I like it, with a lovely presentation and excellent sides.
Had out of town company and we had a very nice lunch.
The appetizers were so well thought out and amazing. Lobster crouching and lobster stuffed mushrooms amazing looking and scrumptious
And the ahi tuna appetizer was some of the best I've had
Lobster main was cooked perfect.
Potatoes were so good
Alaska King crab was cooked perfect and amazing
Sadly, the Libster Shop either lost their chef, kitchen team, or management simply doesn’t care.
Very few diners. We were seated quickly. Waitress was attentive. There were two flies at our table throughout the meal. The food wasn't very good.
I came here for a celebration. The cocktails were good, the view was perfect, but the food was solo for the price. If I drop 200$ on a meal, it should be perfect. The lobster tasted frozen and thawed. I come from New England. It was one of the worst lobsters I have ever had. If you call yourself the lobster shop, you had better master the lobster. The salmon was great though. I would not come back.
I was pleased we were given a window seat for our table of five, as I requested for a special birthday dinner. Our waiter was friendly and professional. Did not smile much, but that was okay. The food was delicious and my only complaint was that after ordering dessert, we waited a very long time for it to arrive. We really did not want it, once we finally got it. I actually got up and walked to the entrance of the restaurant in search of our waiter to inquire about the dessert. My family did not want me to, but I am stubborn. My family thought I was being unreasonable. So, maybe it was just me? Over all, yes I will return again as the food was very good, and the dinner itself arrived in an expected amount of time. I was a waitress in college, so I know the drain and toll it takes on you. I did appreciate our waiters professional attitude.
The service was stellar and the view excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant on a day when Rainier is visible.
This was my third visit to The Lobster Shop, and the second time I was able to take advantage of "Twilight Dining" menus. This option, available before 6:00 p.m., allows the diner to choose either two or three items from a limited menu including starters, entrée and dessert. My friend had lobster bisque for a starter and I had the specialty salad. We both had cedar-planked salmon, which melted in our mouths! And crème brulee for dessert can't be beat. The food is always perfect, the service is impeccable, and the view from the location just makes me happy. It's not the cheapest place to eat but it's worth every penny.
Beautiful waterfront dining experience.
We stopped in after an afternoon at the zoo. We just had soup and salad. Our server treated us as if we had ordered from the top of the menu. The food was excellent! Will definitely recommend to friends and family. It was a bit cool to eat outside, but we were seated at a table with a great water view inside.
We took my mother-in-law to The Lobster Shop for her birthday this year. We hadn't been for many years, but fondly remember the lobster bisque, which is still amazing (don't forget the sherry on top!) We were seated at a window table and our waiter was pleasant, accommodating and friendly. Our meals were all very good - my fish was seasoned to perfection. I would recommend The Lobster Shop and we will be back.
Always one of the go-to spots for an occasion, or just a good meal. This was a Sunday dinner with friends... better during the week, IMO.
I love the lobster shop, we go at least 2-5times a year. Food is always excellent as are the drinks. Been for mother's day, friends brunch, dates with my guy. Every time it has been a great experience.
We've been going there for at least 20 years. The Lobster Shop never fails to please no matter the season or the occasion.
Though my daughter and I were seated on time based on our reservation, we sat for 20-25 minute in the middle of the upper part of the restaurant before anyone noticed us. We watched two waiters help the tables around us and did not stop to interact. We were literally starting to leave when finally someone acknowledged us. Overall we felt like an after-thought and very low on the priority list.
I'm sure it's not the norm, but it was embarrassing and frustrating. We even had a couple at a nearby table ask us what was going on and agreed with our thought of leaving. Pretty embarrassing!
We were there to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Our server, "Justin" was excellent: great attitude and full knowledge of the menu. We will definitely return!!!
We love going here, it is always so beautiful to sit and observe the waterfront view. Meal was good, although my wife ordered her steak medium and it was not even pink. My mom had requested mashed potatoes and got French fries instead. The waitress was attentive otherwise and met our needs well.
Loved the seafood, (great lobster quesadilla, salmon and crab legs), the tasty Ceasar salad (which many places can't get right), the attentive bar and restaurant service and pretty setting on the water. Only critique would be the lobster bisque tasted like there was no lobster in it (nor was any seen as in some places) and they had no Earl Grey tea. Still would recommend this place as the overall food and experience was very nice.
Love the restaurant!
