Raised in Brooklyn to parents of Italian decent, and having spent part of his childhood in the homeland, Chirico’s early years were peppered with all the cultural advantages of a Mediterranean lifestyle. In those early years, Chirico developed a reverence for simplicity and a palate fine-tuned to natural flavors. With a love of travel came further developments in the shaping of Chirico’s culinary perspective, including time in Japan where he grew to love local techniques, and preparations from the best kitchens in Paris and other European epicenters of flavor.

K Rico es propiedad de los hermanos John P. Greco III y Tommy Greco y de su eterno amigo Christian Tanno John es el chef ejecutivo de Philip Marie, el amado restaurante del pueblo. Tommy, que se estrena como restaurador, está al timón del popular salón The Ritz, votado como uno de los mejores bares/salones de Nueva York por las revistas Village Voice y Get Out Magazine.
John, quien es muy exigente con el trabajo en su cocina, se preparó a la perfección para la apertura de este nuevo restaurante. Viajó por América del Sur durante varios meses en busca de recetas de la cocina local, así como de productos frescos, carnes, restaurantes, tiendas de comestibles y mercados al aire libre. También entrevistó a residentes y visitantes para aplicar sus valiosos conocimientos en el menú de K Rico.
