In Austin, food staples of the 19th century included ingredients picked right from the garden or shot on the prairie. This all changed when the railroad came through, bringing cuisine from as far away as Russia. Since this Texas city has become an undisputed culinary mecca. Better known for its barbecue, breakfasts tacos, Tex-Mex and pecan pies, many restaurateurs agree that Austin can turn out a delicious buffalo wing as well. But where do the most committed foodies go for the best wings in Austin? Welcome to the Tastemaker 20. We’ve collected data from thousands of eateries around the world to learn where OpenTable’s savviest diners eat out. Check out the following eateries for a selection of the best wings in Austin, then book a table while there’s still a seat left!

Austin
About the restaurant
From what was once a scrappy mom-and-pop pizzeria, Home Slice Pizza on North Loop evolved into one of the most popular pizza spots in the city. Well known for its New York style pizza, the eatery also combines Big Apple flavor with western influences to create what they dub ‘the crispiest wings around.’ They also offer a full wine list along with other cuisine options, and this is all enjoyed surrounded by eclectic décor, architecture, paintings reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel and NY-style murals throughout.

About the restaurant
Anyone longing for the food truck experience of Austin without standing in the heat should check out Bar Peached. It started out as a Southern and Asian influenced food truck and quickly found its way to a brick and mortar location. The inside features warm colors, unique artwork, western décor and lighting that manages to pull off both a vintage and contemporary look. Their BBQ brisket, social burger and pork shoulder steak are all worth a try. Those seeking the best wings in Austin, however, simply cannot pass up the Korean chicken wings featuring gochujang soy glaze.

We had a great meal sitting out on the patio with our dog. They were great with him and brought him a water bowl and a little treat at the end of the meal. So fun!

East Austin
About the restaurant
What they lack in a huge wing selection, Ah Sing Den easily makes up for in taste. The Thai hot wings feature peanut & Thai chili, coconut herb sauce and sambal. The On a Wing and & Waffle also offer an Asian twist on traditional chicken and waffles. These are some of best wings in Austin, but for those who want variety, there's no excuse for missing out on the sake miso salmon, potstickers, Nori salad and an interesting take on fish & chips. The murals, vintage photos, lighting and other décor all maintain an Asian flair that stays true to the historic opium den the eatery is named after.

Always have enjoyed Ah Sing Den however the greeting wasn’t so friendly. I booked an outdoor table for 10 and the seating was inside. I guess if there isn’t the ability to reserve a table outside for 10 - why have it as an option on OpenTable? Host definitely showed his attitude when I questioned that the table was inside. Not the most welcoming. Food and drinks are always spot on and this won’t stop me from coming back. Was just hoping to sit outside and enjoy the weather while we still have it and not have an attitude when inquiring about it.

Central Austin
About the restaurant
When Asian comfort food is combined with a Southern Twist, The Peach Tortilla is the resulting amazingness. The brand’s famous offerings – sliders and tacos – carried over from its food truck days. Impressive new items like the lush pork belly bowl, cauliflower bowl and Dan Dan Noodles are also available. The interior has an Avant Garde décor, but it’s the neon peach outside that will catch most eyes. Even more appealing is the fact that their crispy umami chicken wings might be the best wings in Austin.

Absolutely fantastic service from the hostess to the waitresses. Really original, inspired and delicious Asian fusion food. Drinks were great. The only disappointment is the outdated wooden shack/'Keep Austin Weird' decor - it does a disservice to the high end nature of the food and service. This place needs to update its decor to the high end classy place that would reflect its classy food... so don't be put off by the 'shack'- the food is phenomenal. Highly Recommend.

About the restaurant
One would typically have to visit three places to experience a restaurant, bakery and coffeehouse, but not at Caroline Restaurant. Patrons can enjoy all three while visiting here, and this is done while surrounded by décor and architecture that’s businesslike yet maintains a casual and contemporary flair. Those who sit outside get a gorgeous partial view of the skyline at night, but everyone has access to their delicious oven-baked chicken wings. Try them with chipotle ranch before moving onto other great options like the quinoa chili bowl, center-cut pork or all-natural turkey burger.

We began or dinner with the Burrata Appetizer consisting of the ridiculously addicting cheese, cherry tomatoes, basil, accompanied by a multi grain bread. We shared a Arugula Caesar topped with shaved parmesan, a Greek yogurt dressing, and melt in your mouth lemon vinaigrette croutons. Our main courses were Green Chili & Chicken Enchiladas, Hot & Crunchy Halibut and the Salt and pepper Salmon. ( For my particular taste , and opinion both fish dishes were over, however our server did respond that all fish dishes are prepared medium well to well done) Still Super Yummy!!! Party of three, two glasses of wine, really attentive service, $200 with tip.

About the restaurant
Red globe lighting, gorgeous murals and an impressive accent wall are just a few of the impressive decorative features at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant. The immersive view of the city featured on the patio, however, makes outdoor dining tempting as well. The biggest decision most patrons have to make, though, is whether to enjoy the chili ponzu, sesame garlic or black pepper teriyaki flavors for some of the best wings in Austin. Other meal options include chicken yakisoba, filet mignon, colossal shrimp and a variety of sushi and poke offerings.

About the restaurant
With locations in Florida, Illinois and Texas, Doc B’s Restaurant + Bar is one of the largest franchises to offer the best wings in Austin. Their expansive menu includes burgers, Wok Out Bowls, desserts and house-made pizza for those who treat their wings as a mere precursor to dinner. The oven-roasted chicken wings – baked at 700 degrees and flavored with Reggiano and chimichurri – are well worth the trip. Pop art lines the walls in addition to contemporary flair, but some patrons are more impressed by the free bacon at the bar!

About the restaurant
Promising a higher standard of American cuisine, Paul Martin’s offers premium cuisine that’s cooked over a live fire for a taste that’s hard to find elsewhere. They have daily Happy Hour offerings, and these are enjoyed while surrounded by vintage lighting, country-style architecture and décor that creates the feeling of a relaxed Southern experience. They offer a variety of chicken options that normally wouldn’t show up on the ‘buffalo wing’ radar, but their delectable taste along with offerings like mushroom multi-grain burgers and BBQ pork ribs simply cannot be missed.

About the restaurant
Sometimes the best wings in Austin aren’t from chickens at all, and that’s definitely the case at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. Their buffalo quail legs are tossed with roasted garlic barbecue buffalo sauce, and they might just convert many individuals who immediately opt for the typical wings. They also have a variety of steak offerings in addition to appetizers, brunch and uncommon dishes like chicken fried elk and wagyu braised beef short ribs. The bucking bronco and saddles at the front entrance let guests immediately know they're in for a western experience.

About the restaurant
Listed as one of the top 50 barbecue joints in the world, Lambert’s Downtown BBQ has an impressive reputation to live up to. Considering their frequent live music, contemporary lighting, industrial décor and some of the best wings in Austin, though, they succeed in this feat quite easily. Patrons can’t stop claiming that the wild boar wings are some of the best wings in Austin, but in reality, these are boar ribs presented in the same manner as classic buffalo chicken. This shouldn’t slow anyone down, though, because they’re absolutely delectable.
