We went to Blu on Avenue Road for our 3rd anniversary dinner and had a quiet romantic table on the ground floor. Staff went out of their way to explain the menu and our choices. It was clear that they were very loyal and loved their jobs and the place. They did give us some quiet time too. Then we were told the restaurant was about to close because of a huge rent increase at their lease renewal. We hope the new location opening on King Street West will come close to the beautiful spacious building on Avenue Road. Even if it does not we will be there because the food and service is so good. We each had an amazing scallop appetizer and we were glad we did not split it and had our own. For main courses the pasta, lamb and beef tenderloin were cooked to perfection. We were too full for ordering dessert but they brought a tiramisu to share and we were able to finish before leaving happy. We can’t wait to return to the new location in May.

All our food was absolutely incredible. The service was extremely slow based on the fact that there was just as many staff as there were diners, but we weren’t too bothered by this as we were there to catch up with each other. If we had somewhere to be, it would’ve been a bigger issue. All three of us enjoyed the dishes we picked out, the food was fresh, and seasoned perfectly. This is such a gem of a restaurant for Calgary.

He usually works at the Aurora location but we were lucky enough to meet him at the King location yesterday. We had the burrata to start and followed that with the polpo, gnocchi, and guanciale pasta as mains. We finished it off with tea and the orange chocolate cake. Everything was perfect and we look forward to coming back often! Thanks again Vince for your amazing service!

Their cocktail menu had some nice drinks on it, I had the berry sangria, I felt like I was back in Spain. We will definitely be repeat customers, that’s for sure.

We reserved a swinging chair table but noticed when we got there that we reserved on the wrong day- they were very nice and very accommodating. We were celebrating our anniversary. Everything was top-notch, from the salad to the prime rib to the free dessert. Barney was an attentive waiter, as were the rest of the staff who assisted. Everyone seemed to know why we were there--it felt amazing!

We finally got up to pick them up ourselves, and THEN someone came to intercept and bring them to our table.
