GREAT service! Beautiful brunch!! I had the BEST time!!
We were staying close by the Newport Beach pier enjoying a few relaxing days in Newport Beach before the summer ends. The Lighthouse restaurant received good ratings and was within walking distance to our hotel, so we decided to try it out. It’s a very picturesque location with outdoor seating and scenic views of Balboa island and surrounding yachts. We ordered the clam chowder as a starter and the salmon. Both were delicious. I also ordered the local tap beer “dude” which very good. Definitely will come back again. Service was excellent. It’s a nice alternative to the restaurants near the pier.
Stunning view and wonderful food! Friendly staff, easy parking.
Great location right on the water. Very quiet (can be more noise at lunch but empty beach in morning and evening). Great food
Disappointed in the restaurant. Food was average for the price. Limited menu was a disappointment. Was too bright inside. Needed some type of shade to limit how much sun comes in. It was a little warm also because of the sunshine. It got surprisedly loud for the limited amount of people in the restaurant. We won’t go back. There are too many better options available.
I loved the atmosphere and the food- try their beignets! The one down side was we made a reservation for outdoor and they did not prepare for that and we ended up inside which was a bummer.
Staff is very attentive in providing you with a great experience and tending to your needs. Adult beverages were awesome, and so was flavor of the food. They don't go overboard with their portions, but it was a little pricey for the portion. We sat outside and it was very relaxing (the huge yacht that arrived helped :) ) Definately go back!
My husband and I enjoyed our time at Lighthouse, it’s really loud inside but outside was quiet and believe it or not- cooler temperature-wise than the inside. There was a nice breeze, we could have a quiet conversation right on the water. The inside is cute- we spent the beginning of our time in there but because of the shape
And size and number of tables, too loud for our liking for good conversation and relaxing. The fish tacos were AWESOME, and bottomless mimosas. The service was a little slow.
We love this place because of the atmosphere and delicious food! But I will say every time we visit it feels they are understaffed and when we do see our server they are rushed. It’s a bummer because this place has the potential to be one of the best on the peninsula! Still definitely worth trying out.
We like the Lighthouse. Great atmosphere/ location. I think the menu is a little weak though and the food could b a lot better. I tried the fish and chips and the fish was way below average..fries great. I'm not too sure the chef is very good... either way, the dish needs 2 improve. Almost any restaurant does a better job with that n my opinion
I also would like 2 c a more expansive menu.
We had an enjoyable and delicious breakfast while looking at the sailboats in the marina.
Cute little spot on the harbor with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good quality food. Definitely recommend the sourdough bread appetizer!
The food came out promptly, we were seated imediately upon arrival, all of the staff were friendly and very accommodating!
I celebrated my birthday while on a first date on my very first visit to the Lighthouse Cafe. I thought I might be taking a risk but I made the best decision possible. It was awesome. We reserved a table for breakfast and everything was so lovely that we returned after our Whale Watching Cruise for lunch. Our server Tyler was very accommodating, professional, and friendly. Everyone was making certain that my birthday and first date were very special. I was overwhelmed by the extensions of kindness the staff displayed and the venue, environment, and harbor views were magnificent. The food was clearly awesome for us to return on the same day. I give this restaurant my highest recommendation without reservation.
Its loud! There were a few tables that left. I won’t go back but if you’re hanging at the beach it’s fine.
They need to remodel the place good staff but real out of dAte.
We had a large group going to celebrate a birthday over brunch. The location was amazing and we were intrigued by the bottomless mimosas and brunch. The food was amazing! However, the mimosas were hardly bottomless and we had to wait with empty glasses for 10-15 minutes at a time.
Service excellent. Food was awesome, the steak cooked perfectly. What more can you ask for...
Great steak. Bay front dinner by is so much better then being on the noisy beach.
Great food and service. Had the chorizo and egg tacos... to die for, and not spicy for those who think chorizo is always hot. Great views and good times.
Great food with a million dollar view!
It was so hot. But our server was amazing! She made sure she could keep us cool as much as she could with chilled ice water, juices or alcohol!
It's always nice to sit outside by the harbor. Food was fine but the clam chowder was very salty.
The restaurant is in a very nice and beautiful area, but the food was very expensive, simple and didn't taste that great.
For me, the menu seems to be pretty limited, and priced a little high. Every time we go, it seems they have taken something I have gotten before and enjoyed off of the menu. Service was good, and sitting on the patio was pretty outstanding, although we were there late afternoon (5:30pm) and the heat was pretty brutal. Any way they can incorporate some umbrellas or some kind of shade device? Just a thought... Anyway, enjoyed time with our friends, and that's what we were there for.
Went for the bottomless mimosas. They refilled us like every 30 minute then after 3 mimosas they told us that our two hours was up even though it had barely been an hour. Will not be returning for brunch
The tacos that I ordered, when the waiter handed over the plate, it was really hot and my finger was burnt. The waiter was holding the salad side of the plate so he probably didn't notice he was handing me over the hot side of the plate.
When we asked for separate check, we were told it was super busy and they weren't able to process it. It seemed pretty open by the time we asked for the check but it would have been nice if he would have just told us, the restaurant is not able to do split check.
Food was excellent, the service was slow an our server would forget to bring things we needed, like an extra wine glass etc. the other complaint I have is the heaters never work, we had been here before an I thought they honestly just had a problem that night but they didn’t work again a month later so I don’t think they want to use them, unfortunate bcuz its a little cool to be outside in the evening an if you have to sit inside you may as well go somewhere else.
Disappointed once again!
We have been frequent diners at the cafe and find the menu with very few over priced choices, fair service( had to ask for cream and sugar 3x). The restaurant seemed to be over whelmed with no one in charge and servers running around. We come by boat and love the ambiance, but always concerned about what the dinner and the service is going to be like, especially when we are taking guests there for their first experience.
Food not good at all. Everything else, especially the setting, was great.
The food was excellent! But, it really is a café, not a Saturday evening atmosphere. All the hard surfaces indoors, make it noisy. Maybe outdoors would have been a better choice, but couldn't count on weather, even with heaters.
It was a quiet place. The food was okay. I had a chicken club that was very disappointing. The chicken seem like pre-made Tyson chicken that I can buy in the freezer section of the market. The rest of familys food was a little bit better. I expected more especially for the price. I also ordered a mix drink, not very good. At least they had beer so I just ordered beer after.
loved the ambiance and the view.. very unique. Not a lot of seating, best to make a reservation. You have to leave the building and walk around to another building to use public restroom. Was a little disappointed as we were there for breakfast and they were out of Bloody Mary Mix.
The food was good, the service (our waiter was Ryan) was outstanding and the view of the harbor and watching people enjoying it (SUP, kayak, duffy boats, etc.) was very relaxing.
Our friends had recommended the Lighthouse b/c they came for brunch last year. My husband loves lighthouses, so I thought he'd enjoy it. When I booked through Open Table, I indicated that we were celebrating his birthday, but the staff seemed to be unaware of it, which was disappointing to me. The food was really tasty - we had salmon, fish & chips, bolognese, soup & wings. I may go back if in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
The place was great with a breathtaking view.Food was delish and bottomless mimosas is something to come back for.
We have been going to Lighthouse since opening day and it always had issues with service. We still would go all the time because of the location and we live right next to it. But the service was just always so slow and inattentive so it always really bothered us.
Enter Morgan... we had her as our server this weekend and she honestly made the experience a million times better. I hope the restaurant hires more people like her, they are much needed. If rating only Morgan I'd rate 5 stars, but the food isn't my favorite and the seats and tables always seem to have some kind of syrup or something on them, yikes.
Great location, good food, somewhat pricy but great location. We had some issues that the manager addressed appropriately. We will be back.
Best fish and chips that we've had in a long, long time!! We'll definitely be returning soon!
