I've been here a few times and have enjoyed the food, service and ambience but this visit was different.
It was restaurant week and a friend and I made lunch reservations for Saturday. When we asked for the RW menu the server told us that it was not available for Saturday lunch, but only during the week. I did not see that specified on the online RW menu. If a restaurant is going to participate then they should have it clearly state any limitations on the menu. That was really a bad call on the management.
We ordered the salad and a banh mi. The salad was nice but the banh mi was more bread than meat and veggies. The service was friendly, but a little distracted. Not sure I will be returning since there are so many wonderful restaurants in Newport Beach.
Tremendous views, affordable food and the $10 unlimited mimosas are totally worth it. Sitting outside was a huge plus and the upper deck has even better views. A great find
Great location on the bay and the food was excellent. Service was prompt and the server was courteous! Strongly recommend!
Service was excellent. Food was perfect. Nothing like bottomless mimosa on a sunday. The other drink on the table was called the hair raiser. Highly recommended!!! Tasty, tasty, tasty. Bourbon, Kahlua, Baileys, cinnamon and nutmeg. Absolutely delicious. Eggs Benedict were perfect. And what can you say about the view. Right on the marina with a gorgeous morning. Highly recommended
Our server was the best! So happy she was out server again!!
Beautiful ambiance. I loved sitting outside looking at boats. Kids can go play in sand while we finished our meal. Excellent and attentive service! We will be back!
5 friends got together to celebrate one of our birthdays. We had a lovely table on the patio with a beautiful view of the bay. Luckily it was a clear day. The weather was cool and so heat lamps and blankets were given to us to make us comfortable. All of these extras were offered by the manager who seemed attentive. The only negative was the server was a bit unexperienced. She didn't seem to know the menu very well and was not very professional in her serving or offering extra options. She brought a pot of hot water and some tea selections but never brought spoons so that milk, sugar could be stirred in. She was slow to come back with our request for extra spoons. When it was time for dessert she offered the menu and then said to the birthday girl...you don't need to order you are already getting one. Ruining the surprise. When the sundae was brought to the birthday girl, she didn't bring extra spoons so we could all have a taste or share it with her....this is usually the norm at other restaurants. The service left us all feeling disappointed and it was reflected in her tip.
By far the best bottomless mimosas experience of my life. Waiter was awesome and the view was great!
Eggs Benedict are probably the best I’ve had. The $10 bottomless mimosas were served with fresh squeezed orange juice. You could also get pineapple juice. It was served with a perfectly dressed frisée salad. Great view, delicious food, and healthy pore on the champagne. We really enjoyed this restaurant.
Restaurant and menu have the potential to be very good. Several menu items were not available. Filet Mignon was overdone. Petrole sole was OK. Door was left open and it was freezing. Staff didn't seem to understand the concept of customer service or fine dining.
The ambiance is wonderful....,you feel like you are inside a lighthouse and it is whimsical. Food was a solid 3.5. Clam. Holder and Caesar salad was delicious. Steak was average especially for the price. The service was good except the main food did not come out at the same time,
The food was delicious served in good time. The service was excellent and very friendly and helpful. The Lighthouse Cafe is bright and cheerful with an outstanding view.
This was a first visit, very cute and small. There were 3 people in my party and we all enjoyed our food. From the main courses featuring pork chop, steak and pasta...
Visiting the Lighthouse is a neat experience. It is very pleasant.
I wish their lunch menu included chicken tender or another chicken entree.
The food is excellent and served by very pleasant staff.
How about some nitrate free bacon and breakfast sausage.
They are excellent and a healthy choice.
We wanted to eat somewhere to watch the boat parade. Unfortunately, they were fully booked but they were able to let us in at 4:30 through a reservation on yelp. I loved everything about the place. From the food to the service to the ambiance. Our food came out in a timely manner with great presentation and in a big portion size for the amount of money we are paying for dinner. The staff was very accommodating, and the waitress checked up on us pretty frequently. I especially love the decor of the place. It felt very homey. The beignets is a must to try here :) it was the perfect dessert to top off the night! My family and I would definitely be coming back soon. :) keep up the good work! Thank you!
Absolutely wonderful! We chose to dine outside and enjoyed the lovely view of the bay.
The entire staff was extremely courteous and attentive. Fantastic service! Terrific lunch menu items.
Overall, a beautiful experience.
The best pancakes I’ve ever had!! The food is just perfect in every way
Very quiet on Sunday night! Service was great, food very good, very tasty. Great bay view restaurant!
It took forever to be seated. There is never anyone at the hostess stand leaving guests to crowd in to the door way where servers are trying to work. This is a consistent problem at The Lighthouse.
The experience at The Lighthouse was very disappointing. When we arrived our table was not ready even though we had a reservation and there were tons of empty tables. Our waiter was very friendly and was doing the best he could with a situation that he could not control. He let us know that we were not able to order any food for some time because the kitchen was not prepared to start lunch yet so we waited about 20 minutes to place our order. We also were not able to get any water because they had to wash all of the water glasses that were used for breakfast. We got water about halfway through our experience. When the food came out three of us had ordered a short rib grilled cheese and tomato soup. They brought it out with clam chowder because they did not have tomato soup. I am allergic to clams and was not able to eat that. The grilled cheese was terrible there was no cheese on it just meat. The waiter did take back one of the sandwiches and brought it back with cheese on it and a salad but over all this was very disappointing. we will not be returning. The service staff did the best they could to overcome the short comings of obvious management flaws.
Very nice view of the harbor/Marina and very close to park playground. Service is really bad. Wait staff is very unfriendly and are practically pushing you out before you've even finish your meal.
This place was a delightful spot that was perfect for an early Saturday morning brunch. The service was outstanding and the food was tasty. I will return!
Delicious breakfast in the most picturesque spot in Newport Bay. Beautiful scenery.
We had a reservation for 11:45 a.m. on Sunday - we were seated at 12:20 p.m. Why did we make a reservation?
6 of us were crammed into what sh have been a 4 top at best. Hosts were very apologetic about the wait, but not the table. There was a huge table in the middle that was just clearing - can we have that one? No, sorry, we have a res for 9 at 12:30 (they didn't show up and a couple - 2 people - was later seated at that giant table).
Our server came by and asked what we'd like to drink. There's no coffee listed on the menu. We asked if they had coffee and was it good? The answer was yes - so 2 of us asked for coffee. Then another friend saw someone else drinking something that looked like a Cappuccino... do you have Cappuccino? Yes, and Lattes and Mochas said our server. Gosh - we would have loved to know that at the beginning of the coffee conversation - and didn't that used to be called upselling?
For $10.99 I got 2 eggs with toast and a side of fruit. $2 extra for bacon. Ok - it is a high rent area, but since when do you have to add on your "breakfast meat"?
They did comp our appetizers and at the end of the day the server did make it a more positive experience though we never heard his name. I won't go back - at least not seated inside. It's waaaay too loud - all hard surfaces. I had high hopes.
Great place. Disappointed they did not have the english muffins for eggs benedict for brunch on Sunday (???)
The beignets are a family favorite!
We loved our dinner and the service was fabulous!!
On my past visits (3) it has been very good overall. This last time, the service was not good at all and the food was not prepared as stated on the menu. I usually recommend this cafe to friends, but I am now reluctant to do so.
Food was excellent
Our family really enjoyed our lunch at here! The service was great, food was very good, and you can't beat the location and view. We had fun outside after our lunch with the sand right outside the door - great place to go for a walk and a few corn hole games! Fun family day!
Overall we enjoyed dinner here. The only real issue was the halibut my wife ordered. It was undercooked when it was served and when it was returned after cooking further, it was not the tasty, flaky, fish we expected. On the positive side, the setting overlooking Newport Harbor was beautiful. The staff was accommodating and brought my wife a blanket and moved the patio heater closer to stave off the cool evening air. My own meal was delicious, a sort of spicy tomato based sauce over pasta with an ample serving of shrimp, clams, mussels, and crab. We will try it again and perhaps choose something other than Halibut.
Liked the location but noise was too much
Fell in Love with this place, made a breakfast reservation and OMG! View was gorgeous, very relaxing! Food was amazing, delicious! We had a full meal, the yogurt, coffee, mimosas, binnets, omelettes and toast! Loved Loved, it all!
Eggs were over cooked. Location. Is beautiful however the food was not very good.
We were celebrating two birthdays at the Lighthouse Cafe, and it was the perfect setting for this. If you sit inside, be prepared for a pretty noisy environment, but the food, atmosphere, and setting made it a great choice.
Wines are all overpriced anywhere from $4 to $8 more per glass for same wine at other good restaurants but one of the nicest relaxing restaurants on the bay
Came for my bridal shower and absolutely had a blast with my girls! Thanks for always being accommodating !
