The food was excellent! But, it really is a café, not a Saturday evening atmosphere. All the hard surfaces indoors, make it noisy. Maybe outdoors would have been a better choice, but couldn't count on weather, even with heaters.
It was a quiet place. The food was okay. I had a chicken club that was very disappointing. The chicken seem like pre-made Tyson chicken that I can buy in the freezer section of the market. The rest of familys food was a little bit better. I expected more especially for the price. I also ordered a mix drink, not very good. At least they had beer so I just ordered beer after.
loved the ambiance and the view.. very unique. Not a lot of seating, best to make a reservation. You have to leave the building and walk around to another building to use public restroom. Was a little disappointed as we were there for breakfast and they were out of Bloody Mary Mix.
The food was good, the service (our waiter was Ryan) was outstanding and the view of the harbor and watching people enjoying it (SUP, kayak, duffy boats, etc.) was very relaxing.
Our friends had recommended the Lighthouse b/c they came for brunch last year. My husband loves lighthouses, so I thought he'd enjoy it. When I booked through Open Table, I indicated that we were celebrating his birthday, but the staff seemed to be unaware of it, which was disappointing to me. The food was really tasty - we had salmon, fish & chips, bolognese, soup & wings. I may go back if in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
The place was great with a breathtaking view.Food was delish and bottomless mimosas is something to come back for.
We have been going to Lighthouse since opening day and it always had issues with service. We still would go all the time because of the location and we live right next to it. But the service was just always so slow and inattentive so it always really bothered us.
Enter Morgan... we had her as our server this weekend and she honestly made the experience a million times better. I hope the restaurant hires more people like her, they are much needed. If rating only Morgan I'd rate 5 stars, but the food isn't my favorite and the seats and tables always seem to have some kind of syrup or something on them, yikes.
Great location, good food, somewhat pricy but great location. We had some issues that the manager addressed appropriately. We will be back.
Best fish and chips that we've had in a long, long time!! We'll definitely be returning soon!
Nice place. It is set up well. It wsa a bit overcast asnd the standing heaters filled in nicely. Beautiful view and the food was good and reasonably priced. I would go back (again and again).
We had very slow service. Took 15 mins after sitting down for someone to come to our table. Food was moderately good. The view was nice. Very noisy and very hot inside, AC wasn’t turned on no air was circulating in the restaurant.
This was the first time for me and my boyfriend to this cafe so we really didn't know what to expect. It was really busy and the service was kind of slow (maybe just a bad day for us), however the food was great . I will recommend this place to relax and hangout just as long as you are not in a hurry .
Mother’s Day, great location
Beautiful views of Newport Bat. Excellent meal and attentive service.
We had a delightful delicious Mothers Day Brunch. Great service and great view.
Great 2 course menu for Mother’s Day. Was a set menu for Mother’s Day and included 2 mimosas and beverages for one set price per person. View was awesome!
Great location, but does not live up to the hype. Food is average at best.
I took my mom on a Saturday for brunch. I made a reservation not knowing what to expect. We walked up, gave our name and we were immediately seated. I had requested outdoor seating in the reservation but it was a bit chilly that morning so they sat us inside with no hesitation. I loved our waiter and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I will be returning and definitely recommending this place to friends and family. Don’t forget to try the beignets!
We were seated right away and the environment was light and bright. The beignets were exceptional! Nice selection of mimosas and the bloody Mary’s looked great. Blueberry pancakes need fresh blueberries, potatoes seemed to have been reheated and not fresh which was a disappointment because the eggs Benedict were really good. Then a large party of 15 young women arrived and the noise became unbearable. Would like to go again and try other menu items.
We went on Friday morning at 0930 hours. It was not busy. Food was good. When your server asks if you would like an order of beignets, SAY YES. In the summertime, this place will be very difficult to get to since it is on the peninsula. It seems to be part of the Newport Beach Community Center, so there is a pay parking lot, which would be beneficial at the height of summer.
We will definitely be back, but probably not until after labor day.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner and the service was excellent!!
Terrible experience. Reservation was given away due to a late bigger table because of more profit for restaurant per obvious insinuations from MANAGER even though we checked in 10 minutes EARLY. GIVEN a wobbly table that 3 workers saw prior to busser offering to fix. 20 minutes for bloody marys with my husband's celery being dirty and mine having a DEAD BUG. Manager attempted to compensate with a comped appetizer and upgraded bloody Mary's. We were also returned to better table original reservation requested. Food was forgotten (Not sure if server or kitchens fault) with my husband's food making him sick followed by check without server even giving us a pen to use.
I made a reservation 2 days prior and everything went really smooth! My party of 4 was seated right away. It was a brisk Sunday morning but we wanted to sit outside. They had heaters and even gave us blankets which helped so much. I really liked that. The service was good but the food was very mediocre. I ordered the 2 eggs, potatoes and sourdough toast. The eggs and potatoes had no flavor and the bread was not toasted. I should have tried the avocado toast but I really wanted potatoes. They were not worth it though!
Made a reservation to have brunch for a 1 year anniversary date
The only issue we had was a common one. Chefs do not like to make eggs well done and that is the only way I will eat them. So unfortunately I regularly get my eggs not cooked enough and then my husband finishes his breakfast before my remade eggs are right. That is what happened here. I appreciate that our meal was comped, but that was not my ultimate goal. I would rather have paid a reasonable price and eaten at the same time as my husband. Nonetheless, this was a beautiful spot on Newport’s peninsula and the patio was lovely on a very pleasant Sunday morning. The menu was complete, the prices reasonable and the service was excellent.
Great food in a beautiful location
Our experience started out very bad when we were turned away for being late to our reservation. I spoke the Austin who was the supervisor and he stated the restaurant policy was to hold your table for 15 minutes. I made it within those 15 minutes and was told I would be put on the wait list which was 1 1/2 hours. Once the manager Christy heard about this she turned that terrible experience around and seated us immediately. She provided us with excellent customer service and comped our meal. She went above and beyond. I can't thank her enough. It was my daughters seventeenth birthday and thanks to Chtisty we left the restaurant happy! We will be returning thanks to Christy's professionalism.
Great service, quick, courteous.
Great ambiance on the patio, inside was very noisy. Great view.
Delicious food, I highly recommend the Beignets, lattes and bottomless memosas!
Food is very good, service is
Brunch options are poor. Only 5 items for breakfast. Don’t really want fish tacos at 9:30 in the morning. French toast was bread was sour and black.
Beautiful setting overlooking Newport Bay. Very light and airy. I had a flank steak sandwich and fries and friend had fish and chips. My fries tasted old and waitress brought me more. We also had the brussel sprout appetizer which was ok.
Excellent food at the harbor of Newport Beach. Beautiful view of the harbor and the scallops were amazingly delicious. Service was also excellent. The outdoor area was just a bit noisy due to loud music being played at another outdoor venue. The brought a very nice complimentary dessert for our birthday celebration to top it off.
The food wasn't that good. It used to be better. The beignets were under cooked. The breakfast food was just blah, nothing special. Wasn't full, but didn't finish my food because I was bored.
Great place! Will be back forsure :)
I really love coming to Lighthouse cafe so we made reservations to come for Easter Brunch where they were planning a special menu, however, the special Easter Brunch menu was very bland, boring, and bad. There was nothing "special" about this "special" Easter menu and there regular menu is much better. Also the monte Carlo sandwich we ordered was soggy and not impressive with very little ham. This Easter brunch was disappointing
We had a great Easter brunch and will definitely be visiting again!
Nice small waterfront cafe with good service and a great view. The menu was somewhat limited but the dishes we tried were good. The seafood pasta was one of the pricier items on the menu but had TONS of seafood, including a giant crab leg plus lots of other goodies. Fish and chips were also tasty and fresh. I had a bloody mary which was huge and had just the right amount of spiciness. We split the beignets for dessert and they were delectable and airy. We're looking forward to going back and trying it for brunch sometime.
The food is always good, but for the first time we had a waitress who was very attentive!
