Nye great food and service
The food was nice but fast service and cold server
Far too pricey and portion sizes were extremely small.
Customer service was appalling and the staff didn’t provide any form of hospitality.
Tasty food and nice service. The service charge is added to the bill, but when paying there is question on card reader ”would you like to add the tip?”.That is not nice practice.
The food was really good but the service whilst efficient was lacking something
Our meal was amazing and all the staff very friendly
Thank you so much
Being travelers from California we were really looking forward to authentic Indian food in London. The light of India did not disappoint. Not only was the food wonderfully delicious the staff was charming and courteous and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Indian Experience in this beautiful city
The food and service was fine, but i had booked a table for our Anniversary, which was stated on the booking.
We were squashed in the middle of tables and could hear conversations next to us. After one and a half hours our bill was given to us as they said others were waiting for a table.
The restaurant staff didn’t acknowledge our special evening, therefore would not recommend for a special occasion.
Very good if you want a quick rushed meal.
On first impressions the restaurant is very nice and impressive from the outside. Dining room was clean albeit a bit cramped. Using the tastecard I was informed that we had to have two courses which caused some confusion as there were no conditions that I was aware of. Food was a little slow, quite a wait between poppadoms and main courses. Service was however poor, struggled to get anyones attention when wanting extra drinks or the bill even though there wasn’t many diners. Food quality was good with the Salmon main being a highlight. However we thought it’s a little pricey with sides at £6.95 each
Great food and service. Would recommend. If you are wanting great curry this is the place.
Wonderful meal, attentive staff!
We arrived 2 hours early than our booked time and it was no problem at all. Really nice ambience around the place. The staff and service were excellent. I had searched the internet for a great curry house while on our visit to London as it was our anniversary I wanted somewhere special and this place came up a lot. We were not disappointed food was amazing, I would recommend it to all and would definitely go back next time I am in London. Thank You, Light Of India for a lovely night.
Should have been a special night but they hadn’t reserved a table for us as booked and we had the last remaining table which was far from special. Sadly, not to be trusted for special occasions.
We booked a table in advance and stated there was a nut allergy. When we arrived they acknowledged the allergy and left us to look at the menu. All the mild curry’s had nuts in, which is the only type of curry my friend would eat. We were waiting 15 minutes before anyone came back over to ask for our drinks order. We asked if a mild curry could be made without nuts which we were told they couldn’t. They also then informed us they couldn’t guarantee nuts wouldn’t get in any dish we ordered as they were used in the kitchen. Overall we were left disappointed with the service, the wait and the variety available for someone with a nut allergy that they were made aware of in advance!
Went for the tasting menu - all very nice and made a change from having the usual things. Well worth a try.
Fabulous meal. Exactly what I was after. Tasted beautifully fresh and we couldn’t fault the service. We said right at the start that we were on a deadline as we were seeing a show, and they were very accommodating. No stress and no fuss. Definitely will be back when I am next in the area. Fabulous!
We enjoyed a meal at the Light of India restaurant in the Montana Hotel before going to the Royal Albert Hall for a concert. We wished we had spent longer over the meal, which was superb. It was definitely a cut above the usual high street Indian restaurants. The food was excellent, the ambience was comfortable and the wait staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely revisit this restaurant and ensure we make an evening of it.
Felt rushed eating popadoms as main meal was ready fast but other than that, the food was lovely and we will return
Was super excited to have an true English curry experience after hearing how good it is from my family, who is in fact British, but was disappointed in the overall flavor of the actual curry. The veggie platter was good but when the curry came it was an odd nutty flavor to the curry as well as the rice. Almonds and curry do not mix I am sorry to say, though it is stated on the menu I was not pleased with the result. Again I would say the staters are good just not the actual curry.
Excellent service!! As well as excellent food!! Can’t wait to go back!!
Good to see an in house restaurant with a Vegan menu. It would be great if they could build on this and introduce some more options
Had a lovely meal with my daughter service was first class food was amazing prices where was reasonable
Food was excellent and very well presented, friendly staff and nice decor and ambience. Within walking distance of the albert hall
I am staying in South Kensington and looked at several Indian restaurants in the Kensington and Gloucester Road-including Bombay Brasserie and picked out Light of India.
It was a good choice nice ambience and excellent food, service was a bit sloppy but I will definitely go back for more.
Great food but check your bill!!
Lovely little venue and we really enjoyed our curries, we had the pre-theatre menu and I couldn't fault the food!
The reason for my 3 star review is for 2 reasons which are being overcharged (twice), and the tables are incredibly close together so much so that you do feel as though you are dining with the people on the next table.
With regards to the being overcharged, the bill that arrived was hand written I had a quick look but the waiter already had the card machine so I didn't have long to look (felt like a deliberate trick), after I paid I also to double check an item that I had seen is the bill was higher than what I would of expected.
I queried one of the hand written balances that had no narrative apparently it was a service charge, which didn't really make sense as it didn't feel like 10%/12.5/15% of the bill. Even if it was right it was cheeky because the card machine asks you if you would like to leave a tip so at this point I realised I had tipped twice. The waiter did correct this for me and returned my tip in cash from the register.
Once i left the resteraunt I then realised despite spotting the 'service charge' my bill had been added up incorrectly either they didn't use a calculator or it is a deliberate tactic as they assume most people won't review their bill.
Great service and excellent food. When paying the bill I did not appreciate being asked if I would like to leave a tip though.
Great place and Athmosphere!
Typical Indian restaurant with everything in order.
Our advice: Go!!!
Lovely elegant restaurant, perfect location, delicious authentic food and great cocktails. Fantastic service, will def. return.
Great food and service you won’t be disappointed superb
This meal was part of our Wedding Anniversary celebration. The food was lovely, we will definitely be back when we’re next back in London
Excellent meal last night. Highly recommended good menu great prices
Excellent food including a number of interesting dishes not usually available at standard Indian restaurants. Good location very close to Gloucester Road Underground Station and a short walk from our hotel. Will go there again when we are next in the area.
Fantastic, helpful and friendly staff, amazing food, great service. Best curry
Good and prompt service. Enjoyed the dining experience.
Realy tasty food and good service, although some of extras, rice Nan were a little expensive.
Delicious food, beautifully presented. We opted for the tasting menu and were very happy with our choice.
Good food, great decor service not helped by masks and shortage of some products as had only been open a week from lockdown! But would definitely go again
We really liked your restaurant. The food was delicious, the interior was beautiful, and the service was excellent.
