Leucadia Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant
Was fine for the occasion, simple meal with friends. Everyone found something they liked.
Great place for a casual friend get together. Especially liked the Happy Hour Mimi pizzas! Service was friendly and attentive. Did take a long time to get food, but in the meantime the garlic bread was awesome.
Apps were minestrone soup and a 1/2 spinach salad. I had the soup which was hot and extremely hardy. My wife and daughter split the half salad which was a very large size and came with goat cheese, strawberries, carmalized onion, candied walnuts with champagne vinaigrette.
We split a pizza ... pepperoni and red onion. The pizza was thin crust. All the food had generous portions and a homemade vibe. Service was great. Recommended place
This was a perfect place to celebrate a birthday!
We sat on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful meal and excellent service!
There were eight people and we loved the fresh salads and delicious pizza.
Leucadia Pizza has the very best brownies!
The perfect celebratory dessert!!
Return customers from MN here for relaxing weekend & celebrating a birthday. Always enjoy the food, namely their pizza! Will be back again soon.
I go to this place every Friday, is my number one spot for dinner = )
** Wish I can be part of the family and friends discount since I go a lot really!
Absolutely love this restaurant. Great food, good prices.
A real gem!
On vacation and looking for good Italian food that accommodates gluten free & vegetarian for people in our party!
Great menu selection - homemade dishes and great gluten free pizza!!
Service was excellent, atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. Menu has a wide variety for everyone's dietary needs.
Highly recommend if you are in the area
Leucadia Pizzeria is our go to place for pizza when we actually go somewhere for pizza as opposed to delivery. Their crust is chewy and slightly sweet which, in combination with the savory ingredients, tastes great. My wife gets the Lobster Mac N Cheese every time and it never disappoints. Good food, good prices, good service. What else do you need? I just wished they delivered to our house, we are just out of their delivery range.
Excellent service and good. Great prices and four different pizzas sizes. Varied food and wine list.
My waiter was very attentive to my needs, and seemed very friendly. The food was also delicious.
Not great. Would not go back
My wife and I dined here recently with our two sons while visiting them in La Jolla. We dined here once before on another visit. Both times the food was good, the service and ambience okay. The prices are quite reasonable by La Jolla standards.
Didn't match up to reviews. Not impressed
We've eaten at Leucadia on a number of occasions. However, recently the quality of service seems to be getting worse and worse. The last two times we have gone there, we were promptly seated. However, that is the point where the waiting began. In both instances, no one followed up to get our drink orders for at least ten minutes. After flagging down our waitress, I made some comment to the fact that we were starved and thirsty, because we had been sitting there for some time with no attention, and she made a joke about it instead of apologizing for the delay. Then we got our menus, and put in a drink order. Our drinks (including water and bread for everyone) took forever, and we had to ask about them twice before finally getting them (after an unusually long time). I wondered if perhaps they were crushing the grapes in order to make wine to satisfy our drink request. The food took even longer, and the restaurant was not very crowded at the time, so we struggled for why everything was so delayed. Our waitress Kayla seemed nice, but she was terrible about checking back on us in a regular fashion, and any additional request (like another drink or more water) took an exceptionally long amount of time. I've always loved Leucadia's food, but I'm afraid that the bad service may lead us to only do take-out from the restaurant. This decline in service seems to be happening recently, so wondering if the restaurant is trying to get by with fewer servers, or if they have changed managers, or if there is some other reason why the service is going downhill. If you decide to eat here, I'd suggest not being in a hurry or particularly hungry when you go there, as you are liable to have a long wait. :-(
The three friends and I went here to celebrate two of the girls' birthdays.
We lived in the neighborhood for a while, and all of us have heard about this place numerous times, but it was all of our first time trying the restaurant.
The walls are filled with paintings and the color scheme create a warm feel. We were seated at one of the booths, and the seats were comfortable.
We ordered Spinach Salad and Thai Pizza. The Salad was good as expected. Thai Pizza was definitely unique. It wasn't bad, but none of us were convinced that "Asian ingredients" on pizza dough was fitting or appealing to our taste buds.
The waitress didn't come by often, but was nice when there were interactions. One thing I was a bit disappointed about was that, despite the additional note I made on my reservation log along with the call I gave them as a reminder regarding the birthdays, I had to remind / ask the waitress regarding the birthday notes. When this was brought up, she simply said, "Oh there was no notes about it". For I have contacted them twice for this matter, yet there was no update on it, I was definitely disappointed.
Other than that, overall it was a good experience. I would say this would be a chill neighborhood place to spend time with family or friends.
I have become spoiled by Open Table. I make about 98% of my restaurant choices using it and have never ever been disappointed. This time was different. I took some out-of-towners to La Jolla this weekend and wanted some place close to our hotel to dine at because we had been driving around all day. It was a bit run down, the ambiance was nil, and the food was just barely so-so. Our waiter we great but he really couldn't compensate for the lack of everything else. It was a neighborhood place to be sure but nevertheless, there are standards I expect for Open Table and those standards were definitely not evident here.
We ordered pizza and salad. The salads were the star of the evening and the pizzas were just average. Food lacked big flavor. It was a slow Friday night and thought we would get more attention. It seemed as if no one was in charge. We have had better experiences at the original Leucadia Pizza in Leucadia.
Great place for a family to have dinner without breaking the bank. I always pick up the tab for the family so price is right. Also good selections for the little ones as well. Full bar is a plus!
Unable to accurately rate the food as we left before our order was taken due to no one attending to our table. Either our waiter was not notified we were assigned to him or he was vey busy and couln't get to us. Despite asking about having our order taken we still did not see our waiter. When we finally did see him, we decided it was better to leave.
We actually went to the Leucadia Pizzeria in Encinitas as opposed to the one in La Jolla by mistake. The staff was very accommodating and seated us regardless of my mistake!
Food was not good; friendly staff
The food is below the average, service so poor. We waited for 50 minutes for a pizza and in the restaurant there were about 5 costumers.
Food was fair, I had Alfredo it was nothing special and the chicken tasted processed. I would like to try the pizza it looked good.
Basic Italian food - always consistent.
Pizza wasn't really good, too greasy. Raviolis were delicious though.
The painting with Italian scenery all over the wall is gorgeous, makes it very pleasant to be there.
We will go back for the raviolis, and try other things on the menu.
We had a party of 14 and the service and food were both very good. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Excellent for large parties.
Excellent authentic Italian food, especially for a "chain" restaurant! They bring wonderful garlic bread to table. Huge calzones that were delicious. Surprisingly good Caesar salad. Great place to have in neighborhood.
Great food! Wish the prices were a tad bit cheaper. Service was good. Waiter seemed like he was rushing us. Nice little restaurant. I would most likely head back there.
We were out of town and didn't know where to eat so we went to Open Table to find a reservation and settled on a restaurant that looked simple that we didn't need to get dressed up for. This place was casual and the service was amazing. This restaurant will not let you leave hungry. We were very pleasantly surprised by their pizza. We ordered the pesto shrimp and it was to die for. Their crust is on the sweeter side which we like but some people may not. Be sure to leave room for dessert. We took 2 desserts to go back to our hotel room and they were the best desserts...although all the desserts looked great.
Only get the pizza... explored other dishesone during restaurant week and it was mediocre at best.
Our dinner group (which meets once per month at a different restaurant each time) enjoyed everything - thought the food was very good and would all come again. My husband really enjoyed the leftovers and wants to come in person to try out the full menu. Thanks.
We had a large group and because the restaurant wanted to serve us at the same time, we all waited a very long time for the food. The food was hot and delicious but the service was way to slow. Everyone was starved by the time it came.
Varied menu; cheery staff, and fine service.
Went for lunch, it was very casual. The food was good. Nothing special, just another typical pizza place.
Good food and plenty of it. We ordered trays, rather than individually and there was food left over for nearly everyone to take home. The kids were able to run around a little, without worrying about bothering other diners. Their outside patio is nearly the size of their dining room and we had it to ourselves with around 20 people. Good times.
Good place. Simple and unpretentious. Food seems to be of good quality, but a bit greasy. 50% off bottles of wine on Mondays.
Anice basic varied menu, generous servings, quick service, and reasonable prices have made me add them to my list of "must stop at" restaurants when I am in the San Diego area.
