We celebrated my parents 28th Anniversary on a whim because we’re from out of town. I made the reservation the night before & everything was amazing! The food is the kind where you clear your plate each dish, the drinks are well made, carefully crafted, and delicious, and the server we had was so sweet and attentive. The only thing is I wish we’d been able to dine in the Library instead of the outer room just because the outer room ambiance is a bit brighter than what we were looking for, but there was a party in the library, so completely understood! DRINK THE B.O.B, thank me later.
excellent food and location in the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond VA
Excellent service and food.
I took my mother to Lemaire for her birthday and it was wonderful! Lori was our server and she made our dinner and celebration very special. Everything was just perfect, the food, the service, the staff, the beautiful dining room and the fabulous birthday cake the pastry chef made for my mother! Thank you!
Excelent service! Finely crafted food
Our server, Jessica, was great, attentive, but not hovering. The steak, scallops, mussels and salad were all good. The brownie was good. Great experience.
Our 50th anniversary was made very special by the Jefferson.
We had a special menu, just printed for us. We had a special
dessert that was beyond "good." It was a very special evening.
All was good and the price was right!
Best meal (dinner) I've had in ages. Every bite was perfect! Our server was perfect, too, and we enjoyed this exceptional experience in a most elegant dining room.
A great place for those seeking a genteel atmosphere, classic service and well executed and presented food.
Tried and True! Been around a while and still holds strong even after departure of James Beard nominated Chef.
Exceptional service. We felt special and taken care of.
The veal chop was good but a little on the fatty side… The dessert was made with canned peaches not fresh… since peaches were in season I figure they would be fresh… And since this is supposedly a farm to table restaurant… I did not expect canned peaches, I certainly would not of ordered that if I would’ve known. That was a little disappointing. Good service but the meal was a little on the cold side, i’m one of those weird people that likes my food warm.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Great ambiance.
I wish I remembered our server's name. He was FANTASTIC! Made the whole evening even more wonderful. Food was delicious, too! :)
Bruce was our waiter and as always does an excellent job making us feel welcomed. He has thorough knowledge and mastery of his domain.
We had a delicious 40th anniversary dinner, with exceptional service by our server Sean. The hostess Sara was also very welcoming. With most area restaurants being so loud it was delightful to actually be able to sit quietly and talk to one another without shouting to be heard. We had a wonderful evening at Lemaire.
Excellent place for a GOOD meal especially for special occasions. Loved it. We have been to LeMaire several times over the last few years. Never any complaint.
A most memorable meal made perfect by our waiter, Nick. Were I a Richmond resident I would be here as often as I could. Outstanding variations on some standards. Great wine selection too.
We had a wonderful experience at Lemaire! Our friends were in town from Ireland and we were looking to have a special night out. We definitely came to the right place! The food was sensational, the service was impeccable, and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. It was also very child friendly, as our 14 month old daughter joined us. We would give Lamaire our very highest recommendation!!
Service was excellent
Historic hotel with lovely dining spaces. I was really psyched for a 5-star dining experience. It was my birthday. They gave me a menu with Happy Birthday printed on it. That was lame. I think they could have offered a small dessert or chocolate at the end of the meal. My pre-meal cocktail drink was very good! And reasonably priced. I got the fried oyster appetizer. It was tasty, but the oysters were a little watery so when I cut into them, water squished out. But they were good. Then, I ordered scallops for my entree. 3 flat ironed seared scallops. They were medium sized. I thought I would get 5 for the price and size. They would have been phenomenal had they not been gritty with about half of the bites. I mentioned this to my waitress at the end and her comment was that she “would let the chef know.” Again, I wasn’t expecting a free entree but I thought the manager could have stopped by my table. Also the bread was very average but they do serve a nice butter with it. I believe there are better dining options within a few miles of the hotel. I would definitely go back to the hotel but next time I would venture out for some better dining experiences.
Our party appreciated the variety on menu and we selected salmon, flounder and Angus tenderloin as our entrees. All three were delicious. Service was excellent. Overall, the meal was outstanding.
Really pleased we went to Le Maire for my birthday. Treated very well by all staff. Food, fresh with ingredients.
We had not been to Lemaire for quite some time - and don't know why! Our evening was absolutely top rate! The small dining room where we were seated was tastefully decorated and, best of all, it was quiet so that you could carry on a conversation. If you don't order anything else, order the friend green tomatoes - best preparation I've ever had of this popular dish! (It was so large that I had them box part of it, and it was just as delicious the next day!) I had one of their specials of the evening, red drum fish, perfectly prepared, moist, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My wife had the flounder and said it was also delicious. The only downside was that, with our appetizers and the delicious bread they serve and the generous size of their entrees, we had no room for desert. Service, as could be expected, was outstanding. Jessica was attentive but not intrusive and very pleasant and knowledgeable. For a special occasion, or, better yet, for any dinner that you would like to be special, I'd recommend Lemaire without hesitation.
Service was excelllent. The waiter Ryan was excellent, friendly and efficient and timed our several courses just right. The sommelier Shawn came over and helped us pick a good bottle to go with our meals. It wasn’t too busy and we had a pleasant conversation with him and he came back a couple times and helped take care of us. The food was excellent, a delicious gazpacho with crab, tuna tartare, a tasty barrelfish and seared scallops. The dining room was quiet and classy. Will return!
An overall great experience. My wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We had to wait unti 9:00 pm to get a reservation, but it turned out perfectly. We we seated in a quiet room with 2 other couples at other tables. We were well away from the bar, and had a great dining experience. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.
Our first visit to Lemaire and it won't be our last! Our cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. The menu has a unique Southern twist to some of the dishes (try the fried green tomatoes and I had the free range chicken served with King grits, tomatoes and okra - FABulous!... and that's saying a lot for a Southern girl! Our waiter knew the history of the hotel and happily shared it with us. We had a delightful evening and dinner and will be back!
I went here for high tea, and returned with my husband for dinner. Both were excellent, great service, delicious food, terrific atmosphere. (High Tea is in a different part of the hotel). Wonderful place. Highly recommend it.
Daughter’s 23rd birthday
Been dining at Lemaire for years.
Always a treat for special occasions!
It was nice. They individualized the menus for our special occasion.
Ryan our server was fantastic The meal and wine were great. We shared the fried oysters, a salad, and then had the tenderloin and fish entrees. Loved the cucumber with the fish and also the oysters. The tenderloin was prepared to perfection. Everything was great. The sommelier was very nice and helpful in making our wine selection. Cheese plate for dessert.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Very enjoyable dining experience! Would definitely recommend and plan on returning!
We really enjoyed our Happy Hour experience--good drinks and good prices, and we also loved our meatballs with grits and spring onions. Dinner too was great--good food and wonderful service. We'd return in a heartbeat.
Ryan was terrific and Shawn the Somalia came by to talk about he wine list. Scallops were wonderful.
A beautiful venue and a trip back in history. Arrive early and explore the hotel before you eat. The restaurant is extremely elegant without being overbearing. Each item we ordered was fantastic both in flavors and presentation. We started with the fried oysters and the English pea soup. The soup was delicious and the oysters cooked to perfection. Main course of beef tenderloin and pistachio crusted halibut. Beef was superb, soft and flavorful and the delicate taste of the fish was enhanced by the pistachio crusted topping. No room for dessert this time. Jessica looked after us and was so pleasant and professional, shared some of her knowledge about the resident gators who once lived at the property. Highly recommend this restaurant.
All around excellent experience. Food exceeded our expectations.
As is our usual custom when we are visiting family in Richmond, my husband and I treated my elderly mom, 2 sisters, and ourselves to dinner at Lemaire. Things did not start off well when we checked in and were told that the library room, which we had requested months ago and confirmed a couple of days prior to the reservation, was not open for dining that night. (We have requested and been seated at the corner round table for several years because it is quiet and away from foot traffic.). When I expressed disappointment, one of the servers, Melanie, said she would be glad to serve us in that room and the maitre d approved. All was wonderful thereafter in terms of food (oysters and English pea bisque appetizers, sirloin entrees, and coffee creme brûlée and berry crisp desserts. The 20 or so red and white Discovery wines for less than $30 per bottle is a big plus for this upscale restaurant. Other establishments in this 5 star class offer few wines below $50 per bottle. We plan to be back at Christmas time during our next trip to Virginia.
