It was absolutely amazing 10/10, nothing to dispute
Outstanding classic atmosphere with excellent and friendly service. Quiet environment which facilitates conversation. Excellent wine recommendation from server. The food was well prepared and presented. A visit to the bar/lounge prior to dining was also very enjoyable. It is a relatively quiet place to enjoy a drink although we have been there before when groups (Va. General Assembly sessions, etc.) have made it much more frenetic and less appealing.
A total delight.
Loved everything about our meal
We had an excellent meal and the service was superb. Celebrated our 17th Anniversary and they went the extra mile to write that in chocolate on our desert plates!
Our dinner was so delicious, and our servers were highly professional and gracious. We will return for special occasion dinners!
Excellent experience! Delicious food and and the service was exceptional!
We were celebrating a birthday and the service staff made it more special through their service. About the food, I ordered the Chicken dish in the dinner menu, and it was so salty, but overall loved the dish.
James was our server. He was efficient and knowledgeable. He recommended an excellent VA wine...Early Vineyard. Shawn, the sommelier provides excellent wine service. Both salads and entrees were very good. Prices were reasonable and we will dine again next time in Richmond.
Best food I’ve had in Richmond.
Absolutely wonderful. Great ambiance. Professional and responsive staff. Food was exceptional. This is a jewel. Don’t miss it.
Laura, our waitress, was as good as it gets, and The Jefferson - can't get much better - especially after the holiday crowds have gone but the decorations are still up. Our beet salad was pretty standard and hardly worth $14. Wife had the seared duck and enjoyed it, and especially enjoyed the wine suggested by Laura. My seared scallop dish was tasty. Our ganache dessert was very good. This was our 45th anniversary dinner. but it's hard for me to justify a $155 meal, but then again my wife enjoyed it so I'm a happy guy. We'll probably be back next year.
Beautiful place. A great place for any occasion but really wonderful for Christmas and holidays.
Food was fresh and delicious but not many vegan options. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. Our waiter Bruce provided us excellent service and he reviewed our notes about the reservation to find out the whole table was vegan.
Thank you Jefferson Hotel for providing such wonderful Holiday experiences for our family for over 40 years.
We had an excellent experience at Lemaire. We arrived a few minutes early and got a drink in the Lounge. My husband loved his Moscow Mule, and the bartender picked out a perfect glass of white wine for me. Once were were seated, our server, Michael, came over and took his time explaining the menu to us, which we really appreciated. Throughout the entire meal, Michael was amazing. He served as a liaison between me and the chef to make sure I could enjoy my meal without experiencing any allergic reactions and made excellent suggestions. He was personable and attentive, providing some of the best service I've ever received. The food itself exceeded expectations. I ordered the Kale Caesar (minus the breadcrumbs). The anchovy crostini served on the side was exceptional; I made my husband (who loathes anchovies) try a bite and even he loved it. Bright, citrusy, and just salty enough, it was the perfect compliment to the salad. My husband had the raw pearl oysters and raved about the salmon roe and cucumber on top. We shared the tuna tartare. I will admit I was a little skeptical about the flavor combinations (raw tuna, hard-boiled egg, and olives) but we are both suckers for raw fish so we tried it. It was delicious. For my entree, I had the fish special, a phyllo-crusted halibut. The fish was tasty, but the star of the dish was the seared royal trumpet mushrooms.I don't eat red meat, and those little babies reminded me of a perfect juicy steak. Just delicious. My husband is still talking about his scallop dish two days later. For dessert, Michael recommended the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. It was heavenly, and topped with bruleed banana slices, a wonderful surprise. My husband loved his candied pecan cheesecake. After dinner, we lingered to finish our drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. It was a great night, complete with personalized little touches like "happy anniversary" written in chocolate on our dessert plates. Will definitely return for another special occasion!
Great night and our server Michael was fantastic!
My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Jefferson with dinner at the Lemaire. It was a perfect stay in every respect. The staff were all A+ and the food was excellent. We plan to return as soon as possible.
The Jefferson Hotel at Christmas is so special- Lemaire is perfect for the Jefferson Hotel.
This was our first experience at the restaurant. The service and food was outstanding. Will definitely return.
Celebrated our 20 year anniversary here. Wonderful service, including a personalized menu. Jessica, our server, was outstanding. Food was gorgeous and tasted wonderful. Seated in front of a fireplace in a large but quiet room. Highly recommend.
We are regular diners during the Christmas season and thoroughly enjoy the service and cuisine. We love the butternut squash soup and the tenderloin entree. Both are perfectly prepared and served.
We take our children every year after Christmas. The decorations are beautiful, always! Our server was excellent - very attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. We shared tuna tartare and crab cakes to start - both were delicious. The barnyard burger was inventive and tasty, and my husband loved the maple glazed pork chop. The children’s menu is uninspired - what you’d expect at a chain restaurant. We shared creme brûlée for dessert, and it was wonderful.
My family and I dined at Lemaire as a post Christmas treat. The atmosphere was festive and tasteful. Michael, our waiter, was attentive, personable, and a pure delight. Having a family member who must eat gluten-free can be a challenge. That was not the case at Lemaire. Michael assured that everything was prepared and served with no worries of cross contamination. We will definitely return for another special event.
My husband and I took my family (we were a party of 6) to Lemaire for an early dinner on December 23rd. The Hotel Jefferson was mobbed as was the Lemaire bar. We had asked to be seated in the Library and luckily we were - away from the brunt of the noise. Matt provided expert service and our overall experience was outstanding, as it always is. Lemaire is our "go to place" for special occasions when visiting my family in Virginia. We usually go once in July and once in December. The food is pricey -- particularly the appetizers, salads and soups -- but there are reasonable wine options in the "Discovery" sections of the wine list. The quality of the food, elegant but not stuffy atmosphere and top notch service make the splurge worth it.
This is our yearly family tradition for dinner at Christmas. It was wonderful as always. Truly a magical place!
My food was delicious: kale Caesar and Rockfish entree. Sides with Rockfish were good. Another appetizer that a friend had was the beet salad and it could have had more beets. Creme brulee was not as tasty as some but still good. It was a festive evening. Drinks were very festive. Our server was excellent.
Wonderful five-star dining experience with impeccable service. Our monkfish special and sea scallops entrees were both superbly executed. Wine sommelier's recommendation was spot on. Our waiter Michael was very knowledgeable about the food preparation. Wait staff was very courteous.
Bar scene is very active and they have a amazing selection of local craft beers.
My two friends and I worked together before retirement and we get together every Christmas for dinner. We love the beauty of the Jefferson and can't wait to see the current year's Gingerbread creation.
Always love the Jefferson at this time of year. I wished we were not out back in the annex room for dinner. Main ding room is better
Consistently excellent. Worth the splurge. Classic architecture, beautiful Christmas decorations, Bring your camera!
We always have our anniversary dinner at the Jefferson where we were wed. It is always a great experience in food and ambiance.
My wife and I were very pleased with the food and the way it was presented. The waiter was attentive, yet able to present the meal and service without calling undue attention to his presence. The evening at Lemaire was very pleasant and satisfying.
our waiter was great. very knowledgeable of wines, menu and history of the hotel.
As always, Lemaire serves delicious, creative dishes in a beautiful setting. Service is attentive without being intrusive. It is our special occasion mainstay.
We had a wonderful dinner with great food and service. The time before dinner was not as pleasing. it was very crowded with everyone talking at the same time at the top of their lungs. I would go back for dinner but not for a drink before dinner.
Food was good, as usual. However our waitress seemed very busy and was always ready to go to other tables. Also, the bar area was extremely loud!!
Overall fantastic experience, but the food was heavy on the salt.
Birthday celebration for my wife. Fantastic service from Sean and his wait staff. Appetizers (pearl oysters and chicken fried Chesapeake Bay oysters with house made hot sauce) we're prompt, plump, and delicious! Our main courses were the certified Angus filet and rock fish and were delicious as well. Great ambience and beautiful Christmas decorations throughout the Jefferson.
Lemaire was AMAZING! Everything was perfect. If you choose to dine here you will not be disappointed.
This was by far at the level of a Chaine des rotisseurs gastronomic level from service, ambience, foood and wine selection and drink menu. The smoked manhattan was divine with fragrant cinnamon and orange peel as variant. The oysters prepared chicken friend and fresh were divine. The main courses were absolutely marvelous from grilled filet mug on to the scallops and clams with a smoky tomato sauce with faro
Dessert of vanilla roasted banana bread pudding outid itself
A performance of gastronomy
