Thank you to our valued guests in support of our business as well as providing positive accolades that have lead to industry recognition in the areas of food, service and popularity for lunch restaurant.
It truly has been pleasure to serve you again and again!
Reservations for lunches for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester and our Spring graduation dinner scheduled for May 6, 2020 have been canceled due to the effects of COVID-19.
We look forward to welcoming you our valued guests and our students back for the Fall 2020 semester in late August Early September.
It’s our favorite! Wonderful food and supports a terrific educational program!
We always enjoy the food at Leis Family Class Act. We had the Moroccan menu and the lamb shank was very good. The only problem was the dessert. It was not that tasty...much worse than normal.
Always a highlight of our Maui holidays.
While the food was Great and the flavors great, the service was slower than previous lunches. I would still recommend this for a leisurely luncheon that is first class. While we noticed the prices were increased, we also heard two couples at another table discuss that Mama's Fish House might be a better choice for the money... Perhaps, Class Act should reconsider how they are pricing....
At any rate, you will have a wonderful meal in a nice setting... Providing you can get a reservation since they book fast and we only had one date to chose from...
Good luck
Best restaurant on the island
It is fabulous way to get to know the future chefs of Hawaii. Mark Malone runs a terrific program.
I have been going to these luncheon since 2008 and have NEVER had a bad meal... only creative tasty food.
My only issue are making the reservations...the American meal was superb, however the restaurant /open table said “SOLD OUT” yet half the tables were vacant..why.
As our first time, we were so happy with absolutely everything about this restaurant. The food, service and ambience was outstanding and we would definitely love to come again.
Well done, everyone!
Great as always. Food over the top. The students do a great job of trying to make sure everything is perfect. Highly recommended
Exceptional value and service. Host and wait staff were attentive and went out of theirs way to be accommodating.
Nicolette was the best server we have ever had. Very professional throughout the meal. Wonderful and Mark did a great job also.
Our favorite restaurant! What a wonderful opportunity for the community to see and experience what students are learning and putting into practice.
The French menu always attracts the greater seatings reducing the ambience and making the restaurant exceedingly noisy. can In the future we'll skip that menu in favor of the quieter dining experience of the American, Italian, Asian or Morracan menues.
Creative Asian entrees to chose from on this repeat visit. Always attntive service and amazing dessert choices. This is a one=of=a-kind experience. Bring your own wine.
We always have a wonderful time at Lei’s Family Class Act. Everything from the reception and service to the delicious food is wonderful.
Another excellent experience at Leis Family Class Act Restaurant!! From start to finish - everything was perfect! Our meal was great --- appetizer to first course to main course to dessert, we enjoyed every last bite. We especially enjoyed the Chawanmushi.
Mark Malone and the staff at Leis were awesome. Attentive and professional and friendly.....these students will surely excel.
Never disappointed. Our student server was well trained, efficient and friendly (from Hungary). My beef short ribs had been cooked 24 hours and were the best ever in a flavorful sauce. The grand finale is always the dessert. A "secret" instructor at Leis teaches students to turn out an outstanding creation every time. Everything before it fills me up but I'd never decline dessert here.
This is a hidden gem. Not a full menu, but there were options available. Food was excellent! The students were sincere and eager to please. We will be back.
Our server, a student in the college culinary program. had learned well. Kevin was friendly, attentive and professional. We loved the "lite" dessert. The creations at Leis Class Act are truly amazing.
So nice to be back every year. The best restaurant on island.
Always enjoyable
Menu creative well executed & delicious!
We have gone to Leis Family Class Act for over 7 years. We went on 9-25-19 and enjoyed the Moroccan menu. The new staff are well trained and the food was great. I noticed that there is now a separate charge for dessert...not a problem.
Overall, the quality has been consistently great, which is significant considering that there are always new staff every year.
Mark Malone is a very good head of the program and tries to satisfy the needs of all parties!
Food was excellent. It was enjoyable to talk with students and watch as they are learning skills and a trade. It makes you realize how much work goes into good service and hopefully we are all more appreciative of wait staff in the future.
Far exceeded our expectations. The student presentations were masterly, the flavors bold and memorable. Three distinct and imagination courses were offered by a well-informed and gracious wair staff who were clearly proud of their cuisine. Outstanding chefs, staff and food made for a truly memorable occasion. We thoroughly enjoyed he Asian menu. The kampachi in parchment was a revelation. Thank you to all. Can't wait to return.
Great as always. A hidden gem when visiting Maui.
Thank you for inviting us to come and experience such a lovely dining experience. The food is prepared so elegantly which makes tasting it such a great adventure. It is fun getting to interact with the students who are very polite and seem to be enjoying their experience, too. I truly recommend this dining experience . Save enough time to savor the experience. And remember all the small details to relate to your friends.
Those students who are getting real life experiences were so sweet and hard working. Instructors are working hard to fill in for trainees and won’t miss a thing. Whey are watching whole dinning room and not missing anything. Food were excellent from start to finish. Better dinning experience than some of the 5 star resort restaurants.
First day of new season. Student servers were competent and ready to do their respective jobs. As usual a highlight of Class Act is the food presentation. Unusual this time was a generous appetizer of roast duck served over twice mashed sweet potato...an amazing presentation and delicious. Shiela was our attentive waitress. Actually she is a ready now to be an asset to a local fine dining restaurant.
From the first edible that was put on our table was awesome. We are definitely coming back and told ourselves that we will do it once a semester. Kudo's to the students and chef instructor's. Every morsel was amazing and unbelievable.
Last week of the semester. Servers well trained, responsive and friendly. French menu always a favorite The restaurant director, Mark, is always on top of everything. Dining at Class Act is always a real treat.
What was so nice was the "no pressure" feeling. I realize that the setting is an ideal situation. People are there to enjoy, not be demanding, and support the program. Plus, we don't want to be mean to the students who are trying so hard. I know that the kids who were the wait help would prefer to be in the back, cooking, which is what they train for! It is great that they are learning how to serve the food and know what wait staff must go through to please the diners (who may be demanding and self-centered) while at the same time, not irritate the chefs.
I think chefs have a right to demand that the wait help know what they are doing to present in the best way possible the art of the chefs and all of the line help. I will share what brings down the food for me:
A person who serves me a pie with the wedge pointed away from me and I have to turn the pie around.
The main course served with entree at the top of the plate so I have to turn the plate around. The handle of the coffee cup turned in so I have to turn the coffee cup around. Perky and insincere service. Big plus: notice if a person is left handed - serve the coffee on the person's left with the handle on the outside.
I am not talking extra fine dining with a multitude of silverware and nuance. Just simple good service. There is such an art to good service that is not not forced or stressed.
I am not saying the wait staff did this. Onthe contrary - it was all excellent.
The food was outstanding. Perfect, actually. I think this is obvious by how difficult it is to get a reservation - it was my first experience and I wanted another date, to be honest. Duck. But rerservations were filled. I was still very happy for the food and service on the second selected date.
You have a wonderful program. Keep doing what you are doing because it works.
The food was delicious and well presented. The culinary students who served us, were cordial and tried their best to make sure our dining experience was pleasant.
I have been a number of times and the meals have been great. I am looking forward to next year.
The last few times I have eaten here it seems like things are going downhill. The food used to melt in my mouth but not anymore. Actually this last meal was seafood and the sauce it was made in wasn’t real great tasting. My friend had the pumpkin bastilla and that was pretty good but the salad on the side had a horrible dressing on it. As for service - I definitely see a huge difference. The staff used to be quick and on the ball. Not so anymore both times this year the waitress/waiter couldn’t remember the menu and clearly stumbled over it all. Then I asked for a drink two times and the third time they finally brought it out and it was wrong. Also once we were seated I have a feeling that they forgot our table because every other table around us had been helped and we waited another good 10 minutes for someone to finally come around. They did apologize for it though. Finally one of the staff came over to our table to drop something off and sweat was just pouring off their forehead. I kinda found it pretty unappetizing. Hopefully this place improves by next year to what it once was...one of the best places to eat on this island.
I realize we were in a learning environment. The server was slow. The food not good at all too many sauces. They ran out of fish. The shrimp appetizer had one single shrimp. The soup had one little wonton. Everything was sooo salty. ! The beef was over cooked. The dessert was gross. Sugar coffee over shaved ice. We went home a little hungry and ate an hour later.
So far this semester we have enjoyed three lunches. The first was Moroccan which had the best seafood, the second French had the lightest crepes I have ever tasted and finally the Italian lamb shanks were well made and presented beautifully. The desserts were to die for. The best lunch Maui.
Leis Family Restaurant is very popular. They are booked u as soon as they go online. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Therefore, many people make numerous reservations then cancel as there is no charge if this is done before the 24 hour restriction. If there was a 72 hour cancellation policy there would be a better chance of being called on a waiting list and being able to go. There was at least 2 tables empty when I was there. I know several people that would have been there if those tables had not been prebooked. Last year I could not get a reservation at all.
It is a great experience and I am happy I was able to make reservations this year. I look forward to my next reservation.
We had a reservation for 4 on March 27 which we booked on Open Table in January. We then got a call in Maui cancelling our reservation.
TOTALLY UNPROFESIONAL.
Excellent food
Wonderful service
Can't wait to go again!
